An organization who call themselves the ‘Men’s Rights Group‘ has issued a request to prohibit the distribution of Baek Ji Young‘s new single, “Good Boy“.
On May 21st, the organization wrote via their official Twitter page, “Baek Ji Young’s “Good Boy” belittles all men, comparing the relationship with a man to a relationship between a dog and it’s owner.”
“The song is about an older woman who is training the younger man she is in a relationship with,” they continued. “The way the man talks back to the woman is described as ‘barking’, and ‘biting the owner’.”
“The MV itself even reveals a dog, giving the idea that men are treated as obedient dogs,” they added, explaining their reasons for requesting the ban. “Young men that listen to them obediently as well as dogs may be the fantasy of old women out there who dream of zooerastia, but normal, healthy men feel absolutely offended by songs like these. Even during a time where men ruled the world, men never treated women like dogs.”
However, Baek Ji Young’s representatives came to their own defense saying, “It is just a witty simile to describe the ‘bad guys’, it wasn’t meant to be offensive or belittling to men in any way.”
Netizens who heard the news wrote in response, “I guess it depends on how you listen to it…“, “Seems like good noise marketing for Baek Ji Young“, and “I guess it could be misinterpreted.”
In related news, the organization also previously filed a request to ban the movie “You’re My Pet” for belittling men, but the courts dismissed their case, ruling that they did not have a persuasive argument.

Named ‘Gururu‘, the cafe is located in the back alley of Shinsa-dong and was built from a renovated family home. Unlike the modern take-out stores that it sits beside, the cafe presents a warm and friendly atmosphere, much like the attic of a childhood home.
The project took a whole year to plan out and the name is taken from the sound dogs make when they’re happy. Baek Ji Young commented, “More and more people are raising dogs, but there isn’t a place that people can visit comfortably with their pets. As opposed to it being a business, I just hope that it becomes a space where people can come to create memories with their pets.”

Through her Twitter account, Baek Ji Young uploaded photos of herself with her dog, named Bboya.
Bboya has already made some appearances through MBC’s “I Am a Singer”, while she was recording for her album, and is known to sometimes follow along with Baek Ji Young during her busy schedule.
The photos that Baek Ji Young uploaded on her Twitter showed off her everyday lifestyle with Bboya. In one of them, Baek Ji Young is kissing Bboya on her bed.
In another picture, Baek Ji Young is eating a meal with Bboya at the table. The fans commented, “I’m jealous of Bboya who gets to be with Baek Ji Young 24/7.”

After teasing with album jacket photos all month long, singer Baek Ji Young has finally released a music video teaser for the title track of her eighth album, “Average.”
Featuring actor Oh Ji Ho, the teaser begins with him narrating, “So you want to live just average? Then just live average.” The teaser then transitions into scenes of Baek Ji Young bursting out into the streets barefoot while crying.

After teasing us with various album jacket concept photos, Baek Ji Young has finally dropped details on her upcoming eighth album in addition to releasing her fourth set of teaser photos.
As previously reported, the album is the work of Big Hit’s in-house producer, Bang Shi Hyuk. Since she’ll be making a comeback after a two years and six months hiatus, she personally chose the album’s title to be “PITTA.” Like the bird it’s named after, the title is an expression of eight different charms.
Her title track, “Average“, is characteristic of her past ballad hits in that it features emotional lyrics and her deep, husky voice.
Her fourth concept is fiercer in comparison to her previous ones; it was designed by “Project Runway Korea 2” contestant, Kim Ji Hye (Protoype Kuiro), and creative director, ‘Reeming‘.
“PITTA” is scheduled to drop on May 19th.
Styled by ‘Hong Yeon‘, today’s photoshoot was done under the concept of ‘Rare Condition.’ She explained, “It’s a style that doesn’t intrude with Baek Ji Young’s gaze and movement.”
Unlike the previous concepts, Baek Ji Young’s style is kept to a minimum here, as she’s pictured with white pieces and silver accessories, which bring out a serene charm.
Hong Yeon continued, “I felt that dark make-up and overly impressive outfits would only get in the way of her clear voice, so I tried to keep all of that to a minimum and only bring out her innocence.”

For the first time ever, five of Korea’s top stylists – Reeming, Jun Hyo Jin, Choi Hye Ryun, Han Hye Yeon, Hong Yeon – have banded together to create a five-concept style for her comeback album.
The second concept revealed today, “Paper Heart”, was produced by Choi Hye Ryun, and features the use of vivid colors in a dress made completely out of paper.
The stylist explained, “Baek Ji Young looks strong from the outside, but she actually has a warm heart, one that can easily be ripped like paper. I tried to express that through this piece. I was worried whether it would work since it’s made out of paper, but I was pleasantly surprised with how she pulled it off.”

After unfortunately departing from MBC’s “I Am A Singer” earlier this year, Baek Ji Young will finally be returning with her eighth official album!
On May 2nd, WS Entertainment revealed that she’ll be releasing her next album on May 19th. This will be her first release in two years and six months since her seventh album in 2008.
Produced by composer Bang Shi Hyuk, the album features a line-up of famous composers and writers likeJun Hae Sung, Ryan, PJ, Choi Kap Won, Won Tae Yeon and others. Baek Ji Young is clearly sparing no costs, as she’s also enlisted the help of photographer Cho Sun Hee for her music video, and creative directorChae Han Suk as her album’s style director.
WM Entertainment stated, “As it is an album that she’s been working on for so long, it has a high level of quality to it. The album is full of songs that bring out Baek Ji Young’s charms the best, and we believe that each and every song is worthy of being the title track. Aside from ballad, a variety of different genres have been included, so we’d like for you to look forward to it.”
On the day of the album’s release, she’ll be holding a showcase in Nonhyun-dong.
