It looks like B2ST’s Yoseob is continuing the trend of idols quitting KBS’s”Immortal Song 2“.
Due to his hectic Japanese promotion schedule, Yoseob will be unable to participate in the June 13th filming. Therefore, he’s made the decision to leave the show, and it’s been revealed that MBLAQ’s G.O. will replace him. Yoseob managed to complete his final recording on June 6th, which revolved around performing famous Boowhal songs.
Producer Kwon Jae Young stated, “B2ST’s Yoseob was unable to participate in the filming due to his Japanese schedule. He himself was very disappointed since he had a lot of love for the show. However, the show does not have an elimination system and there are no set members, so he will be able to rejoin the program again at any time. We are going to make the program very flexible in consideration of idols who have to carry out a lot of overseas promotions.”
The show’s gathering a lot of interest for its revolving door policy. IU dropped out of the program due to her overwhelming schedule, and SECRET’s Song Ji Eun is slotted to replace her. Super Junior’s Yesung and SHINee’s Jonghyun dropped out as well, but 2PM’s Junsu and F.T. Island’s Lee Hongki have confirmed that they’ll take their spots. The new participants will join 2AM’s Changmin and SISTAR’s Hyorin, along with MBLAQ’s G.O. for the show.
The producer continued, “There will be many more idol singers participating in the program later on. We are currently aligning schedules with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, miss A’s Min, and f(x)’s Luna. We will also have rookie girl group members who possess surprising vocals on the show later on as well.”

3 June:
There’s a popular description of idols these days, in which they’re being called ‘3-second singers’. It came about once idol groups began to have members that numbered into the double digits, resulting in some members having only three seconds of singing time. Others have started to express harsher criticisms, such as “What kind of singer are you, when you can’t even sing?”

With the old cast departing from the show due to individual schedules, an amazing new line-up has just been revealed for KBS‘s ’Immortal Song 2‘!
On September 16th, PD Go Min Goo revealed the list of finalized cast members: “Huh Gak, Shin Yong Jae, Ali, Davichi‘s Minkyung, INFINITE’s Woohyun, Hong Kyung Min, Lim Jeong Hee, and Lee Suk Hoon have been confirmed for the show.”
He continued, “Lim Jeong Hee and Lee Suk Hoon will be joining in about a week or two. Because the broadcast has been increased to 100 minutes, we’ve decided to add more vocalists to the cast, jumping from six to eight. We’ve put a lot of emphasis on the vocals.”
The eight members will be divided into two teams for team competitions.
25 June:
MBLAQ’s G.O recently disclosed the difficulties he had to endure before his debut.
On the June 25th broadcast of ‘Immortal Song 2‘, idol singers competed for the top spot by singing songs that were popular on ‘Gayo Top 10‘ back in 1992. G.O was selected as the second singer to perform on stage, where he sang Yang Soo Kyung’s “Love is a Cold Temptation“.
During his backstage interview, G.O revealed the hardships he had to endure when he was a part ofTy Keys, a group he was in before his debut with MBLAQ. G.O stated, “It was a co-ed R&B group, and we failed miserably. When my company went bankrupt, my contract should have ended then. I don’t know how to say it, but somehow I was basically tied down. I went to court at such a young age. Back then, I didn’t want to let my parents know, so I looked for lawyers myself.”
G.O confessed that he even thought of going to extreme measures.
He continued, “MBLAQ’s debut was coming closer, and my lawsuit was yet to be resolved. I thought it was the end, it may sound extreme, but I thought of dying a lot.”
G.O expressed great enthusiasm for his participation in ‘Immortal Song 2′. He commented, “If I do well, I think this program will become my savior.”
On this day, G.O received an overwhelming round of applause for his emotional performance.
Although SECRET’s Song Ji Eun showed a completely different side this week, she placed last again – causing her to burst out into tears.
On the June 25th episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘, the mission was for the idol singers to sing a ‘1992 Top 10 KPOP hit song’. On this day, Ji Eun reinterpreted Lee Hyun Woo’s “Dream“, overcoming the limits of her feminine voice to show a tougher side, displaying a complete transformation.
However, although Ji Eun was confident on stage, she received a poor grade. Crying, she shared her feelings towards her group stating, “I feel like I’m damaging SECRET” – showing her disappointment in the results. She added that, however, she learned a lot while participating on the program and that she felt that many people were cheering for her.
In addition, Ji Eun chose Min Hye Kyung’s “My Life is Mine” as the song to perform for the following week, turning her focus on performing well for the next competition.
22 June:
KBS’s idol singing program, “Immortal Song 2“, already carries a lengthy list of idol stars who have either withdrawn from the show or given notice. 2AM’s Changmin has just joined that list, as it’s been revealed that he too would be leaving the program.
On June 22nd, a representative of “Immortal Song 2″ confirmed, “Changmin will be having his last performance during the fourth round of the contest on July 4th.”
Since Changmin is preparing for his Homme comeback with 8eight’s Lee Hyun, it was decided that it was best for the singer to withdraw from the program in order to avoid an overwhelming schedule.
So far, a total of six participants have announced their exit from the show, including B2ST’s Yoseob, Super Junior’s Yesung, SHINee’s Jonghyun, IU, and SECRET’s Ji Eun. Assigned replacements for these artists include MBLAQ’s G.O, 2PM’s Junsu, F.T Island’s Hongki, and 4minute’s Jiyoon.
20 June:
4minute’s Jiyoon pleasantly surprised fans yesterday by revealing that she would be joining the cast of KBS’s idol music show, “Immortal Song 2.”
Producers of the show anticipated great things from her addition, previously announcing, “Ji Eun will be leaving the show, and in her place, Jiyoon will be joining. I felt that her vocals were more charming than main vocalist Gayoon. We’re sure that Jiyoon will be able to show something great on the stage of ‘Immortal Song 2′.”
Jiyoon herself said, “Thank you for all of the attention I’m receiving even before I officially begin the program. I’m worried on the other hand because I saw an article comparing me to Hyorin. I think that’s being too generous with the compliments. I won’t focus on the fact that I’m the vocalist of 4minute, a performance group, and show that I’m just enjoying the stage.”
She continued, “I’m sure that the focus will be on my vocals, but I want to show a bit more variety of talents on stage.”
Cube Entertainment added, “Yoseob gave Jiyoon a lot of advice. The two talked a lot about how he felt when the lights tured off and what she should be hoping to show.”
Jiyoon will be officially joining the cast on the recording to be held on June 27th. She’ll be up against F.T. Island’s Hongki, 2PM’s Junsu, SISTAR’s Hyorin, 2AM’s Changmin, and MBLAQ’s G.O.
KBS’s “Immortal Song 2” has been gaining criticisms for the continuous ‘revolving-door’ issue with its idol participants.
The show has aired its third episode, but the ratings seem to hover around the 6-7% mark. Many have attributed this low rating to the constant switch-ups in the cast.
The first episode boasted a line-up that included 2AM’s Changmin, B2ST’s Yoseob, Super Junior’sYesung, SISTAR’s Hyorin, SHINee’s Jonghyun and IU.
From the second episode, IU had dropped out and SECRET’s Song Ji Eun had taken her place. By the end of the third episode, Jonghyun, Yesung and Yoseob will have left the show, with F.T. Island’sLee Hong Ki, 2PM’s Junsu and MBLAQ’s G.O. acting as their replacements.
Amongst the changes, only 2AM’s Changmin and SISTAR’s Hyorin have been the constants.
With criticism ringing in again, the PD has addressed this issue once more, “The show may be lacking consistency (cast members) but it can give a sense of freshness to the viewers.”
The PD added, “The idols have a lot of overseas work and they can’t cancel them for just one TV program. There will be no more than 1-2 member changes each time, so it won’t be a big problem.”
Meanwhile, 4minute’s Jiyoon has joined the show to replace SECRET’s Ji Eun, who is going to Japan for promotions. The PD remarked, “Jiyoon is a hidden jewel in 4minute.”
Ji Eun will be back on the show around September, after SECRET concludes their Japanese promotions. The upcoming episode, therefore, will see performances from 2PM’s Junsu, F.T. Island’s Hong Ki, MBLAQ’s G.O., 2AM’s Changmin, SISTAR’s Hyorin, and SECRET’s Ji Eun.
19 June:
SECRET’s Ji Eun has announced that she will be leaving KBS’s “Immortal Song 2” due to her conflicting schedules with SECRET’s Japanese promotions. The June 20th recording will be her last, and her replacement has yet to be decided.
The upcoming episode of “Immortal Song 2″ will include the new additions to the show of 2PM’s Junsu,F.T. Island’s Lee Hongki, and MBLAQ’s G.O.
For the final round that will be recorded on the 20th, the idols will be singing remakes of singer Min Hye Kyung’s hit songs, and it’s been said that thanks to the hard work the new members put into the recording, the level of anticipation and quality of the stage was greatly increased.
Officials of the show stated, “The members are focusing on enjoying the performances rather than worrying about the competition. They are learning how to show their individual colors on stage as solo singers, and likewise the distinct color of our show is also starting to take place“.
The fourth episode of “Immortal Song 2″ will air on June 25th.
Amidst a flurry of withdrawal announcements this past week, KBS’s “Immortal Song 2” has broadcast its 3rd episode on June 18th with its all-idol cast!
IU, Super Junior’s Yesung, SHINee’s Jonghyun, and B2ST’s Yoseob all announced their withdrawal from the show one after another earlier, citing conflicting schedules.
The show will go on regardless, but for the 3rd episode, the only new face will be SECRET’s Song Ji Eun, who replaces IU. This will be Yesung, Jonghyun, and Yoseob’s final episode before leaving.
“Immortal Song 2″ will have each contestant sing unique covers, just like on “I Am a Singer“, however there will be no eliminations to challenge them. The six castmates will instead battle for pride, as the first place winner will be judged by a 200-member audience. Not only that, but they’ll also receive priceless pointers and tips from the original artists of the songs they cover.
Their mission for this episode was to remake a Boohwal hit song.

2AM’s Changmin, B2ST’s Yoseob, Super Junior’s Yesung, Sistar’s Hyorin, SHINee’sJonghyun, and SECRET’s Ji Eun contended on stage as they reinterpreted Boohwal’s songs into their own styles.
Between each stage, MC Shin Dong Yup asked the Boohwal members how they felt about the idols’ performances. Kim Tae Won responded with the praise, “The small judgements I had about idols have been completely shattered” – drawing attention from the public by stating that he was greatly honored to be on the program.

Boohwal’s Kim Tae Won showered SISTAR’s Hyorin with compliments after listening to her cover of the famous song, “Heeya“.
During a recent recording for KBS2TV’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘, Kim Tae Won made a special appearance as the second ‘legend’. On this day, idols competed by singing popular songs from Boohwal, a much-beloved rock group.
It was Hyorin who succeeded in stealing the spotlight by singing a rock version of “Heeya“. Her passionate performance and powerful vocals left the audience in awe. After watching her performance, Kim Tae Won praised the idol with: “She’s Korea’s Beyoncé. I’m proud that Korea has produced such a talent.”
MC Kim Gura added, “We need more talented female rock singers so that the rock genre can develop even further.”

B2ST’s Yang Yoseob has expressed regret about withdrawing from KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘, a reality show dedicated to showcasing the vocal talents of idol group members.
Yoseob received first place on the show’s pilot episode with his stunning performance of “Mother“, allowing him to prove critics wrong when they said that his singing talent was just hype.
Unfortunately, Yoseob had to withdraw due to B2ST’s schedules in Japan.
He expressed that although he felt extremely stressed competing against his peers, he felt regret when he had to leave. His fans and the production crew were also disappointed by his withdrawal, as they were looking forward to his future performances.
Yoseob stated, “The pressure I felt from ‘Immortal Song ‘2 was no small thing. I don’t know how the other idol singers felt, but I was very worried and burdened. I couldn’t even sleep at night.” The producers added that Yoseob worked hard during practice, but felt a lot of stress because he couldn’t memorize the lyrics very easily.
He added, “When we decided on the withdrawal, I did feel some relief. It was too nerve-wracking and burdensome. However, at the same time, I felt regret. I don’t think I was able to show my all. If another opportunity came by to be on the show again, I would definitely take it. I think I will. I want to show different sides of myself. New contestant Lee Hongki called me about it, and it reminded me of when I started.”
Fellow B2ST member Son Dongwoon piped in: “Even though we knew the results, we were still nervous. We told him that even if he were to land in last place, he was still in the top 6 among idol singers.”

On June 4th, KBS’s idol music program, “Immortal Song 2“, aired its pilot episode with SISTAR’s Hyorin crowned as the top winner. PD Kwon Jae Young revealed that he was proud of her win and expressed his goals for the program in a recent interview with Star News.
PD Kwon began, “The moment Hyorin won, it was an extremely proud moment for me. Through her win, I feel like we accurately portrayed what we intended to show through this program. Our aim is to show the talent that idols possess, since they’re often veiled under the stereotype of being idols. Hyorin has always just been known as a member of SISTAR, so I’m glad that people can see what talents she has to offer as a ’singer.’”
He continued, “‘Immortal Song 2′ is filmed in the same building as ‘Music Bank.’ Staff members that were only used to see Hyorin on stage for ‘Music Bank’ were all surprised with her performance that day. I, too, did not think that Hyorin had such an explosive potential in her. The minute I saw her stage, I intuitively knew that she would win.”
The next episode will see SECRET’s Ji Eun take the place of IU. Stay tuned for June 11th!
SISTAR’s Hyorin reportedly checked into the hospital after breaking away from the middle of filming forKBS’s “Immortal Song 2.”
Right before she was about to compete, she realized that her throat condition wasn’t as good as it could be, leading her to make a quick trip to the hospital for a check-up.
PD Kwon Jae Young revealed, “The hospital said that there was something wrong with her vocal cords, but fortunately, it’s not anything severe.”
He continued, “They said Hyorin will have no problem singing, so she did returned to the stage and completed her song with no further problems.”
Be sure to check out the pilot episode on June 4th!
4 June:
Rolling in to meet high expectations (and high skepticisms), KBS’s “Immortal Song 2” finally made its debut on June 4th with its all-idol cast!
Idol stars are most often generalized as ‘3-second singers’ in the music industry, and so this program sought to dispel that belief once and for all, while also providing an in-depth look into the idols’ different sides. The first cast of “Immortal Song” comprises of 2AM’s Changmin, Super Junior’s Yesung,SISTAR’s Hyorin, SHINee’s Jonghyun, B2ST’s Yoseob, and IU, with many other idol stars set to appear in future episodes.
The pilot episode sees them perform their preferred hits from the past for the first half as an introduction while the second half was their first mission, which was to remake a hit song from Shim Soo Bong, who actually sang for the opening of the show and stayed behind to watch her juniors perform.
For the show’s first recording, the audience was filled with 30+ year olds because they’re the generation that can most accurately judge the performances and pick the first winner.
Sit back and enjoy the first episode cuts below, and toss us your thoughts on this new TV program!

A rebuttal has been created in the form of a TV program. Members from several idol groups have come together for a singing competition called “Immortal Song 2“, which has also been dubbed as the idol version of “I Am A Singer“.
“Immortal Song 2″ had its first recording on May 23rd with 2AM’s Changmin, Super Junior’sYesung, SISTAR’s Hyorin, SHINee’s Jonghyun, B2ST’s Yoseob, and IU. In anticipation of its premiere on June 4th, the contestants sat down for a brief interview about the show.

<Don’t compare it with “I Am A Singer”>
Changmin said, “Rather than being caught up in our performance rankings, we plan to simply show that we are hardworking. Since we each have variety show experience, we will use this strength to create a fun atmosphere.”
The mission on their first day was to remake a hit song from Shim Boo Song, who actually sang for the opening of the show and stayed behind to watch her juniors perform. Super Junior’s Yesung expressed his nervousness by saying, “It makes me nervous to think about performing a solo in front of Shim Soo Bong. I have to guard my team’s honor – whew, it’s burdensome.” IU also admitted that she felt the pressure: “My heart is fluttering because it’s a song from a singer that my grandma and mother like… Everyone is complimenting me, but I’m worried that I won’t meet their expectations.”
It could be said that IU’s feelings reflect those of her castmates, as their vocal abilities were oftentimes discounted or dismissed because of their status as ‘idol stars’. Jonghyun showed his desire to break out of the stereotype by confessing, “Taking this as an opportunity to show a completely different side to myself, I prepared a lot amidst my overseas activities.”

<No eliminations, just pick 1st place>
While “Immortal Song 2″ will have each contestant sing their version of songs just like on “I Am A Singer”, there will be no eliminations. The six castmates will be judged by a 200-member audience and the first place singer will be named from those votes. Each singer will also received pointers and tips from the original artists of the songs they cover.
For the show’s first recording, the audience was filled with 30+ year olds because they’re the generation that can most accurately judge the performances. 45-year-old Kwak Tae Ho said, “Each of Shim Soo Bong’s songs have a story. The key is in how you stress the emotions. More than vocal ability, it’s the expression that counts.” 45-year-old Choi Eun Hi mused, “Since songs go beyond time, I hope that these remakes will make Shim Soo Bong fans out of the younger generations.”
Idol fans have also expressed their anticipation. IU fan Kim Young Rae said, “I look forward to seeing how IU will remake her senior’s song. I hope she does well so she can have more elderly folks like her.”
While the primary focus of the shows is on music, the idols will bring their various skills to the stage, such as rapping and dancing. It’s said that for this particular challenge, their free-wheeling spirit brought a 30-year-old song into the 21st century. Shim Soo Bong was unable to take her eyes off the stage as she exclaimed, “I didn’t know that [these songs] could have such a different color! I feel like I received the best gift in my life as a singer.”

<Old songs that will revive K-pop>
Although it has yet to air, “Immortal Song 2″ is already forcing the other music-based reality programs to step up their game. In fact, “Immortal Song 2″ is unique in that it focuses on idol contestants only. Currently, Korea has national talent shows like “Superstar K” and “Birth of a New Star“, which creates new artists; on the other hand, there’s “I Am a Singer”, which allows for more veteran singers to make a comeback.
“Immortal Song 2″, therefore, will find itself plumb in-between those two extremes. As such, it’s speculated that the response for the show will be the hottest amongst its peers. There’s already a palpable tension between fan clubs, and producers have expressed their concerns about fan clubs sneaking into the audience and skewing the votes.
Sharing his honest thoughts about idol singers, producer Go Min Gyu said, “When it come to musicality and completeness, these idols in their teens and 20’s can’t do as well as those on ‘I Am a Singer’“. Consequently, he asked that viewers look at the show as a period of vocal growth for the contestants.
He emphasized that they are K-pop stars who are able bring together generations of music-lovers, and mused that, “We are also looking at the possibility that the idol remakes may spur a new Hallyu movement.”

16 Mei:
On May 16th, KBS’s upcoming variety show, “Immortal Song 2“, held a press conference at the new KBS building with the official line-up in attendance.
IU, who’s been receiving countless love calls from MBC’s “I Am a Singer“, explained her decision on choosing the ‘idol version’ of the show, “I felt that I wasn’t talented enough to join ‘I Am a Singer’. They’re all legends, and since I’m still learning their songs, I felt that this program would be a better fit.”
She continued, “As everyone believes, I’m still lacking in both skill and talent. I hope to gain more experience in 10 and 20 years from now and join ‘I Am a Singer’ then.”
IU was asked if she had any other idol singers in mind to join the program with her, to which she replied, “I actually recommended SHINee’s Jonghyun, and I didn’t think he’d be joining us here like this today. I’m personally a fan of his voice.”
Jonghyun stated, “I actually didn’t want IU to come on the program because she’s such a great singer. She’s a vocalist whom I personally really like. I thought that maybe if one less person came out, there’d be a greater chance for me to win.”
Super Junior’s Yesung commented, “I hope to show that idol singers can sing too. As opposed to competing, it’s just an honor for me to be able to sing the songs of my seniors. I’m glad to be able to showcase good music and a good image.”
2AM’s Changmin added, “It’d be a lie if I said I wasn’t nervous. I’m definitely nervous, and what’s most pressuring to me is that all of the idol singers danced and sang at the same time while I just stood in place. I will do my best.”
B2ST’s Yoseob stated, “I’m really nervous but I prepared that much more for this. I won’t focus on the rankings, as it is just an honor for me to be able to stand here with legendary singers today.”
When asked about how the other members reacted, he replied, “They supported me since it’s an opportunity for me to get B2ST’s name known. I hope to do well and raise awareness for our group. I will work hard to live up to their expectations.”
SISTAR’s Hyorin commented, “Our first mission track by Shim Soo Bong will probably be best expressed by IU. I’m thankful for this opportunity and will definitely work hard.”
She continued, “The SISTAR members didn’t give me any pressure and just told me to do well. They’re anticipating a lot, but also worrying a lot as well. They’re my biggest source of strength.”
IU concluded, “I, too, think it’s an honor to be able to sing great songs alongside my peers. I will work hard so that I do not bring a negative image to my seniors.”
Led by Kim Gura and Shin Dong Yup, the show will debut on June 4th with a line-up including Super Junior’s Yesung, 2AM’s Changmin, SISTAR’s Hyorin, B2ST’s Yoseob, IU, and SHINee’s Jonghyun.
