On January 2nd, Hyomin posted a picture of the letter through her Twitter, along with the caption, “It’s a new year laundry letter.” The first picture showed a handwritten letter Hyomin wrote to her fans, which was clipped to a hanger as if it were laid out to dry.
When fans replied that the letter was too difficult to read, Hyomin uploaded another picture and said,“Again again. You have to read it before it completely dries. Is it still hard to read?”
In the letter, Hyomin looked back at the past year, stating, “I feel like we’ve been running without rest in 2011, promoting ‘Roly Poly‘ and ‘Cry Cry‘, advancing into Japan, and participating in a drama, movie and musical.”

The confession comes as a surprise, especially since she’s going through one of the busiest times of her career with a movie, a drama, and additional promotions with T-ara on the way.
Hyomin revealed, “Right when I began preparations for ‘Gisaeng Ryung‘, I experienced a disconnect. I realized that I was ‘acting like an idol’. I was always acting bright and positive, like what people would normally expect. I felt that I was being fake and began to wonder why I had to always be careful.”
She continued, “When I began KBS’s ‘Invincible Youth‘, I found myself speaking quietly and acting intimidated with my actions, even though I’m not a timid person. Because the public found it funny, I was acting the way they wanted me to, even though it wasn’t the true me. People who don’t know me began to see me as this person who wasn’t confident with themselves and only knew how to mumble. When they heard that I was cast for a historical drama, I heard things like, ‘She doesn’t even know how to speak for herself, how will she act in a historical drama?’”
It was through ‘Gisaeng Ryung’ that Hyomin decided to no longer limit herself to being an idol. She revealed that she had completely ‘thrown herself away’ to better fulfill her role in the movie, and that she wasn’t afraid to share her opinions in front of the directors.
With a laugh, she said, “It will be a new side of me. I don’t expect people to say that I act well, but rather, ‘She has this sort of expression too, she has this type of image too.’ I felt that way as well.”

Outfits usually make up a girl group’s image, so the girls definitely managed to turn heads when they emerged with an outfit that’s anything but flattering. T-ara’s Hyomin sat down for an interview with Mydaily and revealed that it was actually an idea suggested by the members themselves!
She revealed, “It was the day that After School and miss A were both making their comebacks, so it was an idea that we all came up with out of concern. It was our fourth week into our ‘Roly-Poly‘ promotions and we wanted to prepare something special. It’s a decision we came to in order to better show off our retro concept.”
To find the outfits, the members sat down with their stylists to come up with the color and the design for their old-school Phys.Ed outfits. “It’s the summer time, so we could only find short outfits. We had to place a special order for longer sleeves and produced a total of seven of them with thick material, which made it really hot.”
It wasn’t only their outfits that they made changes to, as they also gave up their high heels, which was a large sacrifice made by the group’s shortest member, Boram.
With a laugh, Hyomin said, “We all decided to wear sneakers, but since they’re low, it makes your legs look short on stage and it’s just not pretty. We were also worried about Boram unni. If it wasn’t for her sacrifice, the stage wouldn’t have been possible, so we’re all very thankful to her. I was a happy leader when everyone agreed to do it all together.”
Not only is she the new leader of T-ara, but she’s also juggling a drama and a movie role at once. “I’m the busiest I’ve ever been since my debut, but I’m happy. My stamina couldn’t keep up and I did faint, but I want to be more careful this time and end our promotions on a safe and positive note.”

On July 19th, the idol visited the hospital immediately for treatment after she fainted from exhaustion. The doctors recommended physical exams and loads of rest for the overworked star, but Hyomin determinably performed “Roly-Poly” at the recording for the music program late at night instead.

Her company said that the nickname was a combination of “horror queen” and “gui-yo-mi“, a saying that’s used to describe something cute. Even though she’s shooting a scary movie, Hyomin still managed to add aegyo into her role.

The idol decided to take the initiative and make a formal debut as a stylist by directing 5dolls for their “Like This or That” comeback. She personally took to the streets to scope out styles and referenced fashion books in order to come up with a unique look for her juniors.

According to a ‘We Got Married’ producer, Hyomin has been added to the show’s panel after fellow T-ara member Eunjung was named part of the new couple.
“It’s commonplace for a member from the couple’s same group to participate in the discussion panel,” said a production staff member. He continued, “While there are fixed panel members, including Park Mi Sun, Kim Jung Min and Kim Na Young, there are also special panel members.”
The “We Got Married” panelists participate by filming in a studio, and the panel members watch and discuss the couples during their activities on the show. Hyomin has already began filming as a participant on the panel.
