7 October:

On October 7th, Rain took part in his last formal event before his scheduled enlistment in the army.  Held at the culture hall at the New World Mall, Rain and his co-stars attended the production conference for his upcoming movie, “Soar: Close to the Sun“.
Rain plays the role of a combat pilot named ‘Jung Taehoon’, a role which requires intensive training to pull off.  He had to go through several different tests to ensure the believability of his acting.  He joked,“For the seven months during filming, it felt like I was going through actual military training.  You can consider the intensity as going through seven extra months of mandatory army service.”
Fortunately, Rain’s stamina and strength helped him pull through the test.  Real pilots must go through and pass a 6G gravity test, but Rain endured the test up to 9G.  “During the test, my head snapped back and I fainted but I woke up and passed.” Fellow actor Yoon Jun Sang stated, “Normally, when heads snap back, people just faint right away, but Jihoon would get right back up.  It was quite the feat.”
Yoon continued, “He’s a great dongseng, and I’m sad to have to see him go off to the army.  He’s strong and dependable, as if he’s already been through the army, and I’m glad that he’s receiving so much love for his enlistment.  He’s not a world star to us but just a comfortable younger brother.”

5 Mei:
We’ve been doing a lot of coverage on Rain’s new movie,”Red Muffler“, but now we’ll continue to do so under the movie’s new title, “Soar: Close to the Sun“.

To celebrate the official title, the producers released a still-cut featuring Rain, who plays the role of the passionate fighter pilot, ‘Jung Tae Hoon’. The shot is both dramatic and mysterious, which aligns perfectly with the film’s theme of illustrating the lives and dreams of fighter pilots – a profession that is little understood by the general public.
Producers have brought in a Hollywood filming team specializing specifically in aerospace technology. The team reportedly took part in films like “Inception” and “Dark Knight.”

18 Maret:
Two still cuts from the set of Rain’s upcoming movie, “Red Muffler,” has been revealed for the very first time!

On March 17th, the movie alerted fans that they had officially begun their crank-in with their first recording on March 15th at a club in Kangnam.
Rain worked with castmates Kim Sung Soo, Lee Ha Na, and Lee Jong Suk as a F-15K fighter pilot. Rain and Lee Jong Suk received separate training from the Air Force Aviation Center prior to the recording. The Korea Defense Daily reported that Rain had also passed the 9G acceleration drill, a training program that even regular pilots have difficulty completing.
For a total of three weeks, the cast will continue to film the movie’s major scenes. The movie’s release date is scheduled for November 2011.

12 Februari:
Actor Lee Jong Suk has been cast for the upcoming movie, “Red Scarf“, which also stars Rain and Shin Se Kyung!
Lee will be playing the role of Rain’s junior, who’s also a combat pilot with a mysterious top gun charm.  Since he’s just been admitted to Konkuk University, Lee will be simultaneously preparing for college and for his film role.
Directed by Kim Dong Won, the film is said to be costing $10 million USD in production expenses alone. With tensions rising due to the recent Yeonpyeong Island skirmish, interest in this film has been steadily increasing because it features about attacking Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.
