Kim Greem debuted on April 7th, so it hasn’t yet even been a month since her debut and she’s already receiving an honorable award from Cyworld’s digital music ceremony. The award is given to a rookie artist that records the highest digital BGM sales.
Considering her debut track swept live music charts upon its release, the award doesn’t come as a surprise to most music fans. She commented, “I’m already so happy that I’ve achieved my dream of becoming a singer. Receiving this award has made it more meaningful. I’d like to thank all of my fans and I promise to become a hard working singer that never loses her rookie mindset.”

The star tweeted, “I finally completed my first stage as singer ‘Kim Greem’. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me. ’ll be doing my best to become a Kim Greem that always works hard.
She continued, “And Jo Young Soo oppa, who came to support me! I’ll make sure to sketch out my future career as a singer to the best of my ability. This is a bonus picture!”

Back then, she went by her real name, Kim Geu Rim, but to kick-start this new phase in her life, she decided to take on a stage name so she could break out from the “Superstar K2″ cocoon.Accompanying the tweet is a photo of her and Jo Young Soo, the hit composer of her agency, NEXTAR Entertainment.
Her debut track, “There Was Only You“, is very reminiscent of the folk-rock style from the late ’80s to the early ’90s. Kim Greem’s sweet, yet earthy voice adds a modern touch, while the buzzing harmonica and simple acoustic chords pay homage to the old-school style.
The song sings of a lover’s regret, after she realizes that her ex was “the one” all along. She confesses that at the time, she didn’t realize what love really was – that she was ungrateful and unappreciative of what she had. It took her a long time to understand, but now, with regret weighing heavily in her voice, she says that she loves him, and that he is her only love.
