On December 27, Davichi held their ’Adieu 2011 Shining a Light Concert‘ at Seoul Bangi-dong’s Olympic Hall.
During the concert Davichi sang their hit songs such as “Accident“, “8282“, “Love and War“, and “Stopping Time“.
At one point however, Davichi surprised their fans with the display of their fierce side by singing and dancing to 2NE1‘s “I Am the Best“. They also revealed their cute retro side by singing and dancing to T-ARA‘s “Roly Poly” with a special guest appearance from T-ara themselves.

15 October:
Davichi made headlines on September 22nd after making a mistake during their ‘M Countdown‘ performance, and it looks like they did it again during yesterday’s episode of ‘Music Bank‘.
At the beginning of their performance, instead of singing “I saw your quivering lips for the first time“, member Haeri sang, “I was shaken and despaired by your few words“, oddly combining the first lines of both the first and second verses.
When Haeri finished, groupmate Kang Min Kyung gave her a confused look but managed to smoothly sing Haeri’s original part of the song.
The lyrics being streamed on screen suddenly stopped, as they did not coincide with the words the girls were singing.
Although their lyrics were off, the girls didn’t stop singing for a second and powered through their performance. Without looking too carefully, it would be hard to notice that they even made a mistake.
Neitzens complimented the girls on their professionalism, as they said, “Only Davichi could cover up a mistake like that“, “I had no idea“, and “They are true professionals“.
On the 22nd of last month, a piece of confetti found its way into Haeri’s throat while the girls were performing on ‘M Countdown’, which caused her to stop momentarily and made Min Kyung laugh out loud.
11 october:
It has been reported that vocal duo Davichi will make a comeback on this week’s M! Countdown with their follow-up track, “Love My Love“!
“Love My Love” was composed by Kim Ki Bum and Kang Ji Won, and it is the perfect song for the fall season, as it deals with the sadness of seeing a lover go away.
Ever since their ‘Love Delight’ album release back in September, Davichi has been receiving an overwhelming response for every song in their album, including “Don’t Say Goodbye“ and “Love My Love”. “Don’t Say Goodbye” even placed first in both KBS’s ‘Music Bank‘ and SBS’s ‘Inkigayo‘, despite the tough competition.
Davichi stated, “We thank everyone for giving us so much love for ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ until now, and starting on the 13th, we hope that everyone will give us the same love and support for ‘Love My Love’ as well.”
Davichi debuted back in 2008 with the song, “Even Though I Hate You, I Still Love You“, from their first album, ‘Amaranth‘, and has been rocking the music world with their powerful vocals. Since then, they have released hit tracks like “8282“, “Accident“, “Love and War“, “Time, Please Stop“, and more.
Be sure to check back to allkpop for their follow-up performance on October 13th!

13 September:
Lee Haeri and Kang Min Kyung of Davichi is known as a girl group with amazing vocal skills as well as beautiful looks — but there’s far more to this talented duo than meets the eye and ear. For one, the title of “girl group” doesn’t seem to quite fit them as they stated, “We’re women, so it makes sense to call us a girl group, but it’s quite awkward. But we don’t really care about labels. ‘The group that sings well. That’s why they have so many hits’ – as long as we hear this opinion, it’s okay.”
Davichi most recently made an all-kill on music charts with their single “Don’t Say Goodbye.” Get to know the girls better in their interview with Joongang Ilbo newspaper below:
The single “Don’t Say Goodbye” is not a “reversal song”:
“Both ‘8282‘ and ‘Time, Please Stop‘ as well as other songs were loved and known as reversal songs. They start calmly and then get stronger during the chorus so we understand that these hit songs caused this image. We didn’t want to be holed into one image so we had new composers and lyricists like Jun Hye Sung to create some change. We’re not just a team that singes reversal songs, but a team that sings songs with a good melody.”

The first response for “Don’t Say Goodbye” was hot:
“It’s really nice to have a popular song, but I’m prouder of hearing that it’s a good song. Before I would always hear ‘It was good seeing your performance,’ but now I’m hearing ‘It was good to hear the song’ a lot more. My younger sibling who’s in 6th grade said the song is popular in his class as well. I think our fan base has gotten wider.”

Davichi is known for hitting high keys:
“Yeah, this is why singing is so difficult. Even the composers are offering us songs with higher and higher keys. I tried asking the agency to go for more calmer songs, but this new song is even harder. Because it’s a song that requires moderation as well as high keys, I got vertigo while recording. I get worried whenever we have to sing live.”-Lee Haeri
Was there a time that talented Davichi had an embarrassing moment on stage?
“While I was sick, during ‘My Man‘ I made a shrill noise. It was a clip on entertainment programs like ‘Entertainment Gajunge‘ so I was embarrassed. Haha.”-Lee Haeri
“There was a time I threw a microphone. Thankfully it wasn’t during a live show, but just a rehearsal. I was concentrated on dancing during ‘Sad Promise‘, and threw the mic. Our manager was so shocked he went to pick it up.”-Kang Min Kyung
Because Kang Min Kyung used to be “ulzzang”, she doesn’t receive as much acknowledgement for her vocal skills:
“I think it’s obvious that I can’t stand up next to Haeri because she does so well. No matter how hard I sing, what kind of clothes I wear and how my hair style was done is always mentioned in comments. There were times I felt bad about it, but these days people are more interested in the music. I feel good because I hear ‘Davichi sings well’ in interviews.”

During that time, you tried something new. Kang Min Kyung starred in ‘Laugh, Mother‘ and Haeri in the musical ‘Heaven’s Tears‘:
“Because the drama was so strong, it was hard. From the beginning, the character went through sexual harassment, got her face slapped, and attempted suicide. I experienced all the hard ships. Since we had to film it all in a few days, I lost a lot of weight because I had no appetite. I even took a photo of me looking like a zombie, and forwarded it to Haeri.”

“I fulfilled a childhood dream so I was happy. I used to go around saying that I wanted to do a musical. I spent time with my fellow actors including JYJ‘s Junsu like we were part of a club so it was fun.”

Kang Min Kyung starred in ‘Laugh, Mother’ with acclaimed actress Lee Misook as mother and daughter. Was she intimidated by the situation?
“At least, I really shriveled up. After hearing that Lee Misook would be cast in the role of the mother, I’m such a fan that I went to the audition again. But I heard that she doesn’t even look at actors who aren’t talented so I was really scared. I’m not sure if she thought how hard I worked was cute, but she really babied me. Whenever I was unsure, she said, ‘Acting is done from the heart. If you act from fakeness, you will never be able to move anymore’. I want to be like her as a woman and an actor. It’s really shocking that she’s able to maintain such a perfect body line at that age.”

Even before their debut, Kang Min Kyung had rumors of a relationship with actor Lee Min Ho, who is currently dating Park Min Young. Did they know?
“No, I was also surprised when I saw the news. We’re so busy these days so we haven’t been able to contact each other.”
-Kang Min Kyung

They sang “The Second Time We Broke Up” in veteran singer Shin Seung Hoon‘s 20th anniversary album:
“It was an honor because we both grew up listening to Shin Seung Hoon’s songs. I’m not just saying this, but we said in a previous interview that we would like to sing his songs. I thought he was a slightly cold person, but he was very warm and praised us. He was also a co-composer for “Secret“. We let him hear the song first, and he said the lyrics were great and gave us compliments.”
-Kang Min Kyung

Davichi is well-known to be a team that gets along:
“We hear a lot that if we’d met as a man and woman, we’d be soul mates. We think that teamwork means everything in Davichi. Even when we’re not promoting, we do everything together. After seeing “1 Night 2 Days” recently, we went to the southern sea together. Because I was so busy with my musical, I wasn’t able to monitor Min Kyung’s drama or take interest in her so she felt sad despite saying she was okay. It’s like we’re dating. Haha.”-Lee Haeri
10 september:
Back in 2006, Davichi met the ‘Midas hand of music’, Kim Kwang Soo, on Chuseok and began training to achieve their dreams of becoming singers. Aged 21 and 16 at the time, the girls watch the full moon and prayed to be recognized as singers with exceptional vocal talent.
Haeri stated, “Every time Chuseok rolls around, the first thing I think is, ‘Wow, it’s already been x amount of years.’ It’s a time where I reflect on the past and make goals for the future.”
Their agency has completely cleared out their schedule on the day of Chuseok as a present for their debut anniversary. With their comeback, they’ve had at least five to six activities lined up per day in order to make up for their one-year and three-months hiatus.
Minkyung explained, “Even if it’s only for just a day, it’s truly a sweet moment for us. We can sleep as much as we want and eat delicious food with our family. I’m going to catch up on the variety shows that I missed out on.”
This year, their full moon wish is different from the one they first made five years ago. Haeri said, “I’m going to wish to meet an amazing man this year. My ideal type is someone smooth with an attention to detail. I don’t like bad guys; I prefer someone that can watch over me.”
Minkyung continued, “I’m going to wish for independence. I want to live alone lately, especially because I’ve been waking up my family so often lately while working on the piano late at night. I want a space for myself where I can play music and watch movies.”
While working on their comeback album, the girls revealed, “There were a lot of nights where we couldn’t sleep because we were so worried. It’s been three years since our debut, and it’s an important milestone for us because we’re at a point where we can predict whether we’re going to become long-run singers or not. We know how important it is, which is why we paid special attention to our album’s concept.”
Haeri added, “Our biggest concern was whether we should go with a radical change or adopt a performance style using dance moves. We were even more careful because of how long our hiatus was. Although we listened to the advice of those around us, it basically boiled down to our roots. We decided to just go with what we’ve been doing all along.”
Minkyung continued, “I’m really happy because the response has been so positive, which debunked our concerns. There hasn’t been a major slump for Davichi in the three years we’ve been promoting, and so we feel lucky. This is an important time for us, so we’re going to focus on our roots and our songs.”
Haeri concluded, “I want people to regard Davichi as ‘singers who truly work hard.’ I really like the phrase, ‘Silent but deadly.’ I’m going to continue working to grow and mature in order to show an improved image.”
