Back in August, we reported that Super Junior‘s Siwon and Donghae were cast as the male leads for the Taiwanese drama, ‘Skip Beat‘. On December 1st, SM Entertainment released a 2-minute long preview of the series, which also included a sample of the main theme song.

‘Skip Beat’ is a live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese comic, which tells the story of a girl who’s determined to be a star in order to get revenge on the ex-boyfriend that dumped her. In this drama, Ivy Chen plays the main female lead, with Siwon and Donghae bumping heads over her.

The main theme song for ‘Skip Beat’ is reportedly titled “S.O.L.O.“, and is said to have been sung bySuper Junior-M.

Earlier this year, Super Junior’s Donghae and Siwon were in Taiwan for a long stay. While the rest of the Super Junior M members were busy promoting their mini-album, “Perfection,” Donghae and Siwon were occupied with the filming of a Taiwanese drama, “Skip Beat.” Now, after more than half a year’s wait for the release of the drama, it has been revealed that the drama will finally air in mid-December!

It has been revealed that the first showing of the drama is expected to be held on December 14th, and the agencies for the main actors and actress are working hard to ensure that they will be able to attend despite a full schedule. In particular, it is expected that there will be an awards show held on the 14th in Korea; however, a possible plan has been put together by SM Entertainment for Donghae and Siwon to miss the rehearsal in the morning in order to fly to Taiwan, and then fly back to Korea after staying only for six hours in order to attend the awards show.

Aside from the first showing, other information regarding the drama has also been released. It was revealed that Donghae and Siwon mostly did not act in Mandarin during the filming of the drama, and thus their voices will be dubbed. Additionally, the drama’s opening song, titled “Extravagant Solo,” was revealed to be sung by Super Junior M, while the ending song, titled “This is Love,” is composed and sung by Donghae. As this will be his first Mandarin solo song, Donghae has high hopes that everyone will enjoy the song.

Korean group Super Junior members Siwon and Donghae recently participated in the farewell party at the end of filming for GTV’s drama “Skip Beat”. Donghae is unable to hold his alcohol, after half a glass of Gaoliang [ translator's note: a type of white spirit with a very high alcohol content ] he fell, Siwon drank red wine, after drinking for four hours he was only tipsy, but he was on such a high he both embraced and kissed male and female staff members. Ivy Chen also drank Gaoliang, everyone was intoxicated but she was sober, maybe it was due to her good ability at holding her alcohol or she just didn’t drink much.

Donghae dreads drinking alcohol the most, normally he only drinks fruit juice and soft drink, Ivy Chen revealed: “he can drink ten buckets of orange juice and it’s no problem.” Everyone has been together for three and a half months and have built relationships with each other, she secretly pulled out Donghae’s hair as a momento, while Siwon said: “I will write everyone’s name into the lyrics of a song.”

In the drama Ivy Chen and Siwon have a kissing scene, she said on the day while waiting for the scene she did not dare to eat, she had to go hungry right up to midday after filming had finished, “after filming I didn’t dare look at Siwon.”

Super Junior’s Donghae finished filming for the Taiwanese drama, ‘Extravagant Challenge‘, and relayed his sadness in finishing the drama through his Twitter on June 26th.

He tweeted, “Today was the last filming day for ‘Extravagant Challenge’. 3 months already passed. It’s regretful.”

‘Extravagant Challenge’ is the remake of the Japanese manga, ‘Skip Beat‘, in which Super Junior’sChoi Siwon will also act with his fellow bandmate, Donghae. Donghae, who already has music skills for his character, acts as the self-centered and flirtatious character, ‘Bu Puo Shen‘, while Choi Siwon plays the popular actor, ‘Dung He Lian‘.

‘Extravagant Challenge’ is to be aired on GTV this year.

Since Super Junior’s Siwon and Donghae were cast to play leading roles for a Taiwanese drama, “Extravagent Challenge“, late last year, they recently attended the drama’s production announcement conference, which was held in Taiwan on March 31st.

Their female co-stars, Bianca Bai and Ivy Chen, were also in attendance.

Around 100 fans and reporters swarmed to the scene to catch a glimpse of the actor-idols, and they showed immense curiosity toward whether or not the gentlemen would be partaking in any kiss scenes.

The drama’s producer, Niu Cheng Ze, clarified, “After announcing Siwon and Donghae’s casting for this drama, a lot of fans shared their varied opinions on my personal blog. Siwon doesn’t get to kiss co-star Bianca Bai, “That’s too much!”

Korean mega boyband Super Junior members Choi Siwon and Lee Donghae will be in Taiwan for the next two months in order to film a drama series, titled “Extravagant Challenge.” On March 31, they held a press conference which attracted nearly five hundred people, a hundred of whom where screaming fans.

Siwon and Donghae showed off their ability in speaking Mandarin, which was a result of many hours of toil, and praised their co-stars Ivy Chen (“cute”) and Bianca Bai (“pretty”). They ended their answers by saying in dialect, “I’m very handsome” and “I can act very well,” instigating screams from the crowd.

Siwon will be acting as a celebrity in “Extravagant Challenge,” a role that is similar to his previous one in Korean drama “Oh! My Lady.” However, he clarified that his upcoming character is more stable and thus can be differentiated. Donghae, on the other hand, expressed his desire to take on the role of a bad guy. He stated that he is not afraid of receiving hate from viewers, saying, “That means that everyone acknowledges my acting prowess!”

Fans are more concerned if there will be a kissing scene with their female co-stars. The producer revealed that ever since Siwon and Donghae were confirmed for the drama, he has been receiving an endless amount of messages on his Weibo (a microblogging site). Some people want a kissing scene and some do not. After a “collation of statistics,” the producers found that the people who want it outnumber the people who don’t, and so “I think I will arrange for a male-male kiss scene between Siwon and Donghae!” To this, Siwon got a little shocked and reprimanded, “That’s too much!” causing waves of laughter to roll across the gathered crowd of media and fans alike.

“Extravagant Challenge”, which is gaining public attention, will finally hold an official press conference on the 31st of March. This also signifies that the drama team will be fully propelled into action, and the group of casts will also enter the four-and-a-half month filming period.

Despite the long delay in the production process, GTV Taiwan has announced that filming for “Extravagant Challenge” will resume on the 31st of March. The drama which features Super Junior’s Choi SIwon and Lee Donghae were reported to continue with the role despite the delay and will head to Taiwan to shoot.

It has been confirmed that Siwon and Donghae will fly to Taiwan next week to join their co-stars Ivy Chen and Bianca Bai for the production process. They are reported to stay in Taiwan for at least fourh months to film the drama.

Super Junior fans scream! GTV announced yesterday that Extravagant Challenge will officially begin its filming on 31 March, and that Siwon and Donghae will be staying in Taiwan for 4 months. Although the both of them are Asia’s popular stars, they were very receptive of the accommodation and living arrangements made for them. The only request that they have made is that their privacy at the accommodation must be guaranteed. It does not matter if it is not a hotel, but the best option will be a place where the elevator requires a resident pass to access.

Resuming work after the filming had stopped for 2 years, the male, female casts and even the director for Extravagant Challenge have all changed. Fortunately, Siwon and Donghae‘s combination with Chen Yi Han, Bai Xin Hui remains fresh and glamorous. Adapted from popular Japanese writer Nakamura Yoshiki’s manga “Skip Beat”, (it has) finally been confirmed that filming would officially start in April. “Skip Beat” drama is the first adpatation (of the manga) worldwide, and would be produced by Gala Television (GTV), Hakusensha* has authorized fimlimg. It is expected to cost NT 6,000,000 to build the gorgeous stage, (and it is) bound to create new boundaries for Taiwan idol dramas and drive the Chinese Wave.

GTV spent many years communicating, and finally got Hakusensha and the author’s approval for its first ever adaptation. GTV has also invited Comic International Productions Co.Ltd who has much experience in Japanese manga adaptations, along with strong production power Honto Production to join in. GTV, together with the hard work of Feng Jiarui and Niucheng, will definitely create a greater idol drama reputation and trend.
Siwon plays “Ren Tsuruga”, the most popular and powerful actor in the acting circle, but has almost zero experience when it comes to love.Choi Siwon has experience from acting in numerous dramas in Korea, such as the Korean drama “Athena”, the current champion in viewership ratings. He carries an extravagant and friendly air, which fits with the role, and hence had a unanimous recommendation. Also, the birthday of Ren Tsuruga in the manga suprisingly falls on the same day as Siwon’s (10 February). It is as if he was born to play this role.
Donghae, who would be playing “Shō Fuwa”, hopes to challenge a role of a bad man who is popular with the ladies. He can finally fufill his dream by playing Shō Fuwa. In the drama, the super popular singer is a bad man that many hate to love. The playful and caring Donghae in SJ, happens to be the same as the drama character, who loves to dance and sing.

After going through many changes and setbacks, GTV’s idol drama “Extravagant Challenge” is finally set to begin filming in April. News has just been confirmed that Ivy Chen (Black & White) will play the main female lead, while popular Korean boy group Super Junior members Siwonand Donghae will be male leads.

As many of you may already know, the drama is an adaptation of the popular Japanese manga, “Skip Beat”. The story is about a girl (played by Ivy) who dreams of making it big in showbiz. She sets a goal to become like superstar Ren Tsuruga (Siwon), and to take revenge on her ex-boyfriend / singer (Donghae). As the main lead, Ivy will need to act as a village girl and then transform into a superstar. She expressed her confidence, “I am ready!” On the other hand, Siwon and Donghae are currently working hard on practicing their Chinese.

After confirming that there are no further complications regarding the copyright, the drama will be co-produced by Feng Jia-Rui and Doze Niu.
