Bae Yong Joon‘s agency, KeyEast Entertainment, has relayed that rookie star Kwon Ri Saeˀ is preparing to become a idol girl group member.
On December 2nd, KeyEast president Yang Geun Hwan told Star News, “It is true that KeyEast is currently preparing for a girl group debut, but nothing has been decided yet. Kwon Ri Sae is currently practicing as a trainee.”
KeyEast has set their goal to debut the new girl group in June of 2012, and explained that they currently have over 10 girls as trainees. The agency will choose around 5 to 7 members for the group, and are still deciding on their concept and musical color.
President Yang continued, “Kwon Ri Sae’s face is more well known compared to the other trainees, and she is sincere and practices diligently… Even if the girl group debuts, if there are other activity opportunities, she will juggle those as well.”
Kwon Ri Sae, a former contestant on MBC‘s ‘Birth of a Great Star‘, signed with KeyEast Entertainment back in July.
17 October:
Actress Im Soo Jung will be joining a top line of actors, as it’s just been revealed that she has signed a contract with Key East Entertainment.
On October 17th, representatives confirmed, “Im Soo Jung has signed an exclusive contract with our company.” Key East is home to stars like Bae Yong Joon, Choi Kang Hee, Joo Ji Hoon, Lee Ji Ah, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Soo Hyun and the like.
Im Soo Jung’s contract with Fantagio expired in the beginning of the month, and she’s been receiving love calls from several top agencies since then. Bae Yong Joon, however, personally contacted her to have her on board.
Representatives stated, “Im Soo Jung is an actress that has many charms not yet discovered by the public. We’re going to give her endless support with our management system both in Korea and overseas so that she can truly shine under our wings.”
Im Soo Jung is currently in talks for several dramas and movies.
12 October:
On October 12th, the Seoul Administrative Court revealed that Key East Entertainment filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on behalf of Kim Hyun Joong. Kim Hyun Joong’s agency is protesting the ban placed against his song, “Please“.
Key East is requesting that the MOGEF withdraw their ban on Kim Hyun Joong’s digital single album and music video. Representatives stated, “The only lyrics referencing to alcohol in his June release, ‘Please’, are two lines stating, ‘I am drunk’, and ‘Between the spread of the cigarette smoke’. These two are not lines referencing the effects of drugs.”
They continued, “The use of alcohol and cigarettes is not a major theme in the song. Furthermore, the Ministry has failed to ban songs that reference to drugs more directly and explicitly. The decision made on Kim Hyun Joong’s album is unjust.”
15 June:
Hallyu actor Bae Yong Joon has announced that he’ll be debuting his own male idol group under Key East Entertainment.
Representatives of Key East revealed, “We are currently in the process of picking the members. We have yet to finalize the exact number of members, as well as what their musical style will be.”
Bae Yong Joon previously worked with SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong for his “Break Down” solo debut, and Kim Hyun Joong even went on to praise him at his own showcase, saying, “Bae Yong Joon diligently studied music.”
Due to Bae Yong Joon’s stature in the entertainment industry, representatives are wondering if he’d be able to compete against Lee Soo Man and SM Entertainment. Because he’s already announced that he’ll be expanding into the music industry, and has partnered with JYP Entertainment for the popular drama series, “Dream High“, some are speculating that he’ll be working even closer with JYP Entertainment for this new debut.
One industry representative said, “As opposed to competing against other music labels, Key East will be using their international advancement experience to get ahead, which gives more than enough opportunity for their idol group to succeed.”
The group is expected to debut by next year at the earliest.
