T-ara part 2

22 May:

T-ara will be welcoming two new members to their group. One will be revealed on the 31st, while the other will be revealed this coming June.
Core Contents Media confirmed on the 23rd, “The newly added 8th member of T-ara is 18 years old and possesses a great visual and talent. The new member will work with T-ara for their upcoming album starting this summer.”
The other new member grew up in the United States since she was 4 years old and will make her debut in the MV for T-ara’s upcoming single.
The two new members are described as having both a cute image and strong charisma with a tall height to match.  T-ara stated, “Please look forward to our new members and our new single.”
T-ara is currently busy preparing for their upcoming concert tour in Japan and Thailand next month. On July 14th, T-ara will also be holding a fan meeting at Peace Hall in Kyung Hee University.

5 April:

Core Contents Media previously announced that T-ara would be undergoing extensive member changes this month. CEO Kim Kwang Soo dropped several details since then, and previously stated April 7th as their announcement date. However, it seems, CCM has decided to move up the announcement date to April 6th.
Fans have been holding their breaths for what’s to come, especially since T-ara has been on a tremendous roll these past two years with hits after hits under their belt. Fans need not wait much longer, as everything will finally be settled on April 6th.
To recap if you haven’t been keeping up, there’s a chance of the group losing members, as well the chance of adding two new members to bring up the member total to nine. Kim Kwang Soo stated previously, “When I look back on my 30 years of experience in discovering new talent, by their third year they become full of themselves, and lazy.  If they are not always on the edge of their seat and working hard, and think that they can just get by with what they already have, they will not be able to beat the competition.  I have seen many singers become complacent because of their pride.  For the members who have no singing ability and do not work hard, I will not give them parts [in the songs].”
He revealed that the purpose is not to just aimlessly take people out, and add others, but to implement a competitive strategy so that those who work hard and display their talents will be given more activities and opportunities, while those who sit back and “think highly of themselves” will not receive more opportunities.
However, most industry officials believe that rather than taking out members, there will be an addition of members to reform T-ara as a nine member group.
An official of Core Contents Media commented, “We can’t confirm anything right now. We originally planned to make the announcement on the 7th, but we have instead decided to pull it up to the 6th. We will reveal everything then.”

1 Feb:
T-ara recently opened up about their volunteer experience on February 1st.

With the help of charity organization ‘Living Together With Others‘, the T-ara members volunteered to spend some time with the elderly that live alone. The girls along with Coed School‘s Hyo Youngworked hard to deliver necessities and other goods to the elderly.
After their day was over, T-ara remarked, “We worked as hard as we could in the short time we were here, but I don’t know if we were able to give as much as we wanted to.”
I think we received a lot more here today than we gave,” they continued. “The elderly held our hands to keep us warm because they knew that we were cold and we could really feel their love and affection. I think this made us happier than winning a K-Chart win.”
The T-ara members announced that they would spend some time volunteering if they came out on top on SBS ‘Inkigayo‘ with “Lovey-Dovey” for three weeks straight, and fans were glad to see that the girls kept their promise.
The members who learned the joy of giving remarked, “We know that a lot of celebrities are spreading their love by different means, and if there are any stars who are still unsure about doing charity work, we urge you to join us. Even though we are only here for a short while, I think it would be great if a lot more people helped out.”
The girls donated the $2,670 bonus they received from winning a ‘triple-crown’ on Inkigayo to the elderly, plus an additional $6,230 that was donated by their company. They also donated 250 sets of lotion and hand creme from ‘Tony Moly‘ who they are currently modeling for, plus 260 pairs of long johns, 250 boxes of chicken, as well as 250 bags of rice.

28 January:

Girl group T-ara confessed their complaints towards the president of their agency.
T-ara, who have recently been sweeping the music charts with their song ‘Lovey Dovey‘, revealed their sorrows that was hidden underneath their bright image. Three of T-ara’s members, SoyeonBoram, and Hyomin publicly confessed their complaints towards the president of their agency.
On the January 27th broadcast of jTBC‘s ‘Quiz Show Idol Premiere‘, T-ara was asked if there was anything they wanted to say to their boss, to which Soyeon drew a stern expression and went towards the camera, grabbing Hyomin and Boram with her.
Soyeon stated, “Since our debut, we have never had a vacation, and in the past year, we haven’t even had a single day of rest.”
MC Kim Gura then asked, “Comparatively, aren’t there members that don’t have as many activities going on?” to which the members stated, “Even at this time, the other members are in attendance for their schedules. Somewhere, they’re all doing something. Everyday, every member has a schedule to attend.”
These days, girl groups are at the top of the Hallyu wave in Asia and are even starting to receive love calls from around the world. However, with the rise of their fame, the girls have no choice but to attack an even more hectic, killer schedule.
After hearing their complaints, netizens stated, “Now, you will be promoting in other countries by traveling on the plane, so you probably won’t have any time to sleep because of the time difference” and“This is because you guys are so successful. This is a happy worry in the mist of all the rookie girl groups who disappear without ever making their mark.”

16 October:

T-ara was recently put on the chopping block for their disrespectful attitude at while performing at an event. A controversy swirled online and Hyomin decided to clarify once and for all what had really happened that day.
To recap, on October 14th, a netizen on an online community board had written, “Really disappointed in T-ara. They came to perform at a festival in Woori, and all they did was laugh and chat on their own while lip-syncing. Their mouths didn’t match up to the words at all… They really didn’t have any care for the performance.”
The netizen continued, “In the second picture, Jiyeon is staring at the floor and Qri is looking as if she doesn’t care while the MC is talking…”
T-ara’s Jiyeon was criticized earlier during the KBS ‘7080 Concert‘ for similar reasons.
Hyomin took to her Twitter to clarify, “For our ‘Why Are You Like This‘ performance, there are gestures we’ll make where it looks like we’re talking to each other. That is a part of the choreography. For ‘Roly Poly‘, we tried to make the stage look as fun as possible by laughing and playing jokes on each other. It’s a part of the performance. I think those things have caused such a misunderstanding.”
She continued, “ Although we are not perfect when we stand on stage, we are always grateful for the people who come to watch us. We know that we still lack a lot of things, so we promise to work hard. Please don’t misunderstand us.”

T-ara’s “Roly-Poly” has become 2011’s top grossing song of the year thus far, thanks to its record $2 million USD in sales!
The previous record was set by IU’s “Good Day“, which garnered $1.3 million USD. T-ara shattered that record with the wide appeal of their retro concept, which drew interest not just from young idol fans, but from older audiences who felt a touch of nostalgia when they heard the song.
A representative of Core Contents Media said, “T-ara’s ‘Roly-Poly’ has been at the top for 10 weeks, bringing in $2 million USD in sales.”
According to CCM, the song averaged $30,000 USD in digital sales per day, and came up as the top digital hit song of the year. “On August 1st, ‘Roly Poly’ recorded $200,000 USD alone, setting records all across the Korean digital music market. Hit albums usually only average about $300,000 USD in digital sales, so ‘Roly-Poly’ has definitely set a record that’s hard to achieve in the market.”
While preparing to bid their fans farewell this week, the girls commented, “Thank you to all of our fans for giving so much love to ‘Roly-Poly’ over the past two months. We’re glad we were able to bring up fond memories for our fans in their 40s and 60s.”

The members stated, “We’re really excited and are looking forward to our Japanese debut. We’ll be working hard to show a better image.”

5 July:
On July 5th, the ladies of T-ara held their debut Japanese showcase at the AX HALL in Shibuya and shared their thoughts on their advancement into the Japanese market at their press conference.

T-ara began, “We will debut with ‘Bo Peep Bo Peep‘ in Japan, so we hope that there will come a day where our Japanese fans follow along to the song. We honestly can’t feel that we’re actually making this debut. Last night, we were all busy memorizing Japanese words.”
They continued, “SNSD and other girl groups have all made their advancements, we’ve heard many stories and even studied their performances. We hope to promote not only as singers, but also as drama, movie, and variety stars as well. Our girl groups show a professional side musically with both singing and dancing, but in comparison, Japanese girl groups promote in a variety of different areas outside of singing as well. It’s similar to what we hope to achieve so we’ll learn a lot from them in our promotions.”
The girls chose SMAP as a Japanese group they respected.
They reasoned, “They’re still a strong team that’s the best in every area. We want to be the same in that we show off our charms but still maintain our colors.”

The girls also revealed that ranking first on Japan’s Oricon chart was their target.
Soyeon revealed, “They always say to have big dreams, so we’re hoping to place #1 on the Oricon chart.  Jang Geun Suk-ssi isn’t even a singer and managed to achieve the feat, which is amazing. Since we’re singers, we want to rank in as well.”
When asked to name a characteristic that differentiates T-ara from the competition amongst several other major Japanese comebacks and Korean idol group advancements, Eunjung replied, “Japanese groups promote on variety programs, dramas, and other areas while Korean girl groups put priority in singing and dancing. T-ara can do both simultaneously.”
Soyeon added, “I don’t think Korean groups adjust themselves to Japanese culture when they make their advancements. Like in Korea, we hope to maintain that public-friendly concept in Japan as well.”
Jiyeon concluded, “We want to show a variety of sides in Japan, and to make that happen, we realize that studying the Japanese language is the utmost priority. We’ll be working hard on that.”
