Brown Eyed Girls‘ rapper Miryo, and former member of the hip hop group ‘Honey Family‘, revealed the reason behind why she decided to join the cast of Mnet‘s hip hop program ‘Show Me the Money‘.
Before heading onto the stage to perform “Abracadabra” with amateur rapper Ko Young Bin, Miryo stated in an interview, “I have been doing music for over 10 years now and I’m the type of person that has a lot of pride in my music. However, the public only views me as the ‘rapper of Brown Eyed Girls.”
She continued, “I have been very thirsty for my own music broadcast activities, so I hope ‘Show Me the Money’ will be of a big help to me.”
Leessang‘s Gary, who was also active in ‘Honey Family’, praised Miryo saying, “When I first met Miryo, I was surprised to see a woman who rapped so well. Her voice, rhythm, lyrics, and her style. She’s a person who has all that it takes.”

Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo has showcased her talent in languages through three new videos on YouTube.
Miryo made her solo debut last week with her very first album, ‘Miryo a.k.a Johoney‘, which drew features from many artists like fellow BEG member Narsha and rapper Rude Paper. In these videos, Miryo introduces herself and her new album, saying that she takes great pride in it because she helped produce it.
Miryo also revealed that her title song, “Dirty“, was based on a “real experience“.

Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo made a strong solo debut with her song, “Dirty“, the song is the title track to her mini-album ‘MIRYO aka JOHONEY’.
After releasing the first making-of video for the MV on February 1st, Miryo’s agency then followed up with the second part a few days later. Now they have released a short peek into the eclectic and fashion-forward styling of the album’s cover art and photobook.
Filmed by Kim Young Jun, a popular fashion-photographer, the clip includes footage of the outfits she used to tease fans prior to the release of the album. Those photos and more were included in the album’s photobook.
At the end of the clip is the text, “To be continued”. Looks like fans will get even more footage in the coming days.

Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo made a strong solo debut with her song, “Dirty“, whose MV charms with its quirky humor and uncharacteristic styling.
After releasing the first making-of video for the MV yesterday, Miryo’s agency followed up with the second part on February 3rd.
The clip continues with its behind-the-scenes look at the filming process for this music video. While fans got to see Miryo various scenes, they also got to the charismatic rapper tackle a cute style that’s never been seen on her before. While taking a break from one scene, Miryo talks about her bright pink sweater, a dramatic style change from her fierce “Sixth Sense” days.

Taking into considering her promotions with Honey Family, this is her first solo album after being in the music industry for 13 long years.
Her first solo album ‘MIRYO aka JOHONEY‘ has caused her so much nervous anxiety that her muscles have physically tensed up.
“A lot of people ask me what JOHONEY means,” she said. “Jo is my last name, and I got ‘Honey’ from Honey Family. I wanted a fresh, new feel of debuting for the first time, as before I was always a member of a group. This is something I realized lately, but now I have a whole new respect for solo artists.”
Miryo personally produced and penned the lyrics to all five songs on her new album, and she has also collaborated with famous song writers and Indie-scene artists to complete the project.
“I enjoy music that you can dance to, and the genre that makes me want to dance the most these days is electronic music, so there’s a lot of that in there,” she explained. “I like rock a lot too, but Katy Perry-style rock. Songs that are easy to sing along with. Since we do a lot of powerful styles of music with Brown Eyed Girls, I wanted to try something a little more light and easy.”
Not only has her music style changed, her image has too. She has become a lot more feminine. Fans seems to agree that she has blossomed, and are questioning whether or not she underwent plastic surgery.
“I wanted to try an epicene image, so I sang a lot of songs about breakups, as well as some cute songs,” she said. “As far as looks go, I have to agree that I look a lot better than I once did (laughs). I know that I’m not as pretty as the actresses out there, but I don’t think I’m too bad to look at (laughs). I didn’t get plastic surgery, I just looked in the mirror a lot and started paying a lot more attention to my image, and I think that helped.”
Her fellow Brown Eyed Girls members Narsha and Gain also made successful debuts as solo singers. With that said, Miryo is really feeling the pressure.
She said, “I started writing my own music a few years back. It was a lot of fun, thinking about working on my own album, but as it came time to release it, I got so nervous. I told myself not to worry and tried to become optimistic, but it’s easier said than done. I’m so nervous that my muscles are tensing up painfully.”
A lot of her songs sing about break ups. “Party Rock” that features a rap by Leessang‘s Gary, “Leggo” with a feature by Narsha, her title song “Dirty” as well as “Love You Love You” with a feature by Girls’ Generation member Sunny and “Revenger” with Rude Paper all sing about painful breakups. These songs seem to reflect Miryo’s heart.
“It wasn’t intentional, but it became a break-up album. I wanted it to have a party concept or a more alluring appeal, but I wasn’t successful. I guess because I experienced something similar, all the songs kept turning into painful breakup songs. Not necessarily a break up after a dating relationship, but you know, where you’re getting to know someone and it just ends. I recently experienced getting rejected by a man who only considered me as one of his many girl friends (laughs). It’s weird, it becomes harder to find love as I get older.”
Seems like this new album is a collection of her honest experiences of being in the music industry for 13 years. Different from her usual fierce image, she exhibited her fun and cute personality in this album as well.
“I’m really nervous. I will do my best on stage, but I want to create a lot of events to meet with my fans,” she said. “I feel really drawn to a lot of my other songs, and I want to introduce them to the public one by one. I hope everyone likes it!”
Yesterday, Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo released the music video for “Dirty” from her debut solo album, ‘Miryo aka Johoney‘.
She’s just unveiled the making-of process for the MV’s production, which will be released in several clips. This first clip focuses on Miryo’s solo shots and charismatic acting for the music video.

After unleashing a torrent of intriguing teasers, the Brown Eyed Girls‘ Miryo has finally released her debut solo MV!
The music video is for Miryo’s lead song, “Dirty“, from her 1st solo album, ‘Miryo aka Johoney‘. As promised, the video contains haunting visuals set in a psychiatric ward. Miryo plays a girl who possesses psychic abilities that she uses to wreck havoc on the institution that keeps her locked down.

The charismatic rapper has not only co-produced major portions of the record, but has taken creative control over its lyrical content and general musical direction.
With album jacket and music video shoots well under way, Miryo’s focus for the next few weeks will be on perfecting the album.
Due to the overwhelming success of fellow Brown Eyed Girls members Ga-In and Narsha’s solo albums in the past, fans are anticipating the same from Miryo. “Miryo will show a side of her that fans have never seen,” says producer Lance, “You will be able to see her true colors through this record.”
Miryo’s solo album (title to be announced) will be available for digital pre-orders starting from January 19th.

Nega Network revealed, “Miryo is currently preparing for her solo album. There isn’t an exact release date set yet, but we’re looking at early next year for now.”
The rest of her fellow Brown Eyed Girls members have already released solo albums, so anticipation for Miryo’s release is high. As she’s one of the few recognized female rappers in Korea, fans are wondering whether her solo album will be rap focused.
When asked, representatives replied, “The album’s musical style is part of Miryo’s album concept so we cannot reveal further details on that.”
As fans already know, Miryo, who was once a member of Honey Family, has currently taken to writing and composing songs – making her the highest paid in royalties amongst her members.

Normally, Miryo is seen as the fierce one in the group thanks to her slicked-back hairstyle, rapidfire raps, and dark makeup. This recent selca (a true bare-faced selca, one might add) shows a softer side to the rapper.

The Brown Eyed Girls are currently promoting their latest single, “Cleansing Cream“.

Fellow member Narsha tweeted, “Congrats Miryo on [her] date of birth. She told us to call it her ‘birthday’ and not her date of birth because it makes her sound old, but everyone keeps saying date of birth [to tease her]. Please tell me ‘happy birthday’ for my birthday. You must!”
She then posted a photo of Miryo holding onto her birthday cake with a big smile on her face. Since fans are used to seeing a more fierce image from Miryo, they were pleasantly surprised to see this sweet side to her.

Rapper Miryo of the Brown Eyed Girls recently debunked the rumors about her getting jaw surgery. Netizens marvelled over her slimmer face, and whispered that Miryo must’ve had a procedure done. Miryo explained that it wasn’t jaw surgery that made her face slimmer, but braces.
She stated, “I knew that there would be a longer period of hiatus after ‘Abracadabra‘, so I was really determined to get the treatment.” “I knew that people would talk about it, so while I was getting it fixed, I tried to make it as obvious as possible so that everyone could see. I wanted to become prettier.”
Miryo concluded, “I do feel happy that people are saying I’ve become prettier, but I wanted to clarify rumors about me getting surgery on my jaw.”
In related news, the Brown Eyed Girls released their new album “Sixth Sense“, and will be making their comeback on ‘Music Core‘ on September 24th.

Miryo tweeted, “I took it awhile ago when I was filming KBS’s ‘World Healing Hands’. Everyone watch it. (Coex aquarium! It was so nice) We will see you soon with good music, so wait for that as well.”
In the photo, Miryo is seen posing not only with the shark, but like the shark. Her dark brown hair suits her very nicely and fans were impressed by how pretty she looked in a simple and silly photo.
Netizens wrote, “She’s cute posing in front of a shark”, “She’s getting prettier as time passes”, “I’m excited for the album. I hope it comes soon”, “I hope you always work with energy. I will cheer you on”.

A representative from B.E.G.’s agency told Newsen that, “What’s been said about Miryo getting plastic surgery is not true.”
They explained, “It probably came from the fact that she’s lost a lot of weight. Lately, she shed 3 to 4 kilograms due to her intense workouts. We’ve seen recent pictures and the results are great, but her face still looks the same.”
The controversy came about after Miryo uploaded a picture of herself on Twitter, only to have netizens swarm the photo with comments about plastic surgery.
After seeing a sharper chin and pointier nose, netizens questioned, “Is this really Miryo?”, “At first glance she looks like Nam Gyuri or Kan Mi Youn“, “After surgery her mouth looks prettier”,and“How did she do it? She became prettier without any notice.”
The Brown Eyed Girls are currently preparing for the mid-July comeback.
