Protect the Boss

30 September:

Wang Ji Hye received a romantic proposal from JYJ‘s Kim Jaejoong on the last episode of SBS’s ‘Protect the Boss’.
The series aired its final episode on September 29th, and as fans had hoped, it showed a happy ending for the ‘Moo Won‘ (Jaejoong) and ‘Na Yoon‘ (Wang Ji Hye) couple.
When Na Yoon heard Moo Won was coming over, she tried to whip up a meal but failed with her lack of culinary skills. Seeing this, Moo Won showcased his talents as a cook by quickly preparing a pasta dish for them. As she ate, Na Yoon confessed, “You really have no faults. You keep making me fall for you.”
Although it was easy to read Na Yoon’s feelings toward Moo Won, it was hard to figure out how Moo Won, a man of few words, felt about Na Yoon. However, it turned out Moo Won had thought of Na Yoon as his girl all along.
As Na Yoon gazed at him lovingly, Moo Won stated seriously, “Stop looking at me like that and listen instead to what I’m about to say carefully… I’m thinking of becoming a clean business man. I want to bring about a new generation. But it won’t be easy.”
Na Yoon looked puzzled, so Moo Won continued, “People say that they want to become a great businessmen, but what I really want is to roll out a clean business. …People don’t like those who are different from them, so they may persecute us and try to knock us down. Would you still be willing to go through this with me?
After thinking deeply, Na Yoon complained, “Jerk. What kind of proposal is this,” as she wrapped her arms around Moo Won and smiled happily. However to her dismay, Moo Won replied, “We can’t get married right away. You are still a child, so I’m going to have to raise you some more before we marry.”
The show ended happily with the other couple on the show, Ji Hun (Ji Sung) and Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee) also getting married.

Shot at a model house in Ilsan, the scene started with Jaejoong and Wang Jihye drinking milk in the kitchen.Jihye notices that Jaejoong has a bit of milk on his lips, and she moves to wipe it off with her fingers, but decides to grab his chin instead and pull him in for a surprise kiss.
Wang Jihye wrapped her arms around his neck to make for a passionate kiss scene that led producers to give the couple a round of applause once the scene ended.

Camera director Ahn Jaehyun commented, “This scene’s a bit funny if you look at it one way, but it’s a kiss scene that was the most direct and passionate out of all of the drama scenes I’ve filmed thus far.  The two actors are quite amazing.”
Wang Jihye stated, “It’s a kiss shared in a drama, not in reality, so I hope that Jaejoong’s fans won’t misunderstand anything.”

14 September:

September 14th’s episode of SBS‘s ‘Protect the Boss‘ hinted at a possible love line between ‘Seo Na Yoon’ (played by Wang Ji Hye) and ‘Cha Moo Won’ (played by JYJ‘s Jaejoong).
After Moo Won got rejected by ‘Eun Sul’ (played by Choi Kang Hee), Na Yoon took Moo Won to a karaoke place to help cheer him up. But as she watched Moo Won sing his heart out to Shin Sung Woo’s “Suh Shi”, she started to develop feelings for Moo Won.
After listening to Eun Sul’s advice to ‘just go for it’ and confess her feelings to Moo Won, Na Yoon paid Moo Won a visit at the office and presented him with a pair of  tickets to a musical. However, Moo Won thought that Na Yoon had invited him only because she was in need of a friend to go see it with.
Heart fluttering, Na Yoon waited for Moo Won to show up at the musical, but because he was overloaded with work, he failed to show up for the first act of the show. When the intermission lights came on, Na Yoon glanced dejectedly at the empty seat beside her and muttered, “Well it’s not like this is the first time I’ve been rejected…”, her eyes brimming with tears.
Her head jerked up with surprise when she suddenly heard Moo Won’s voice from behind, saying, “Who rejected you?”.

After watching the show, the two were on their way out of the theater when Moo Won casually asked, “Seo Na Yoon, do you want to come back to me?“, to which Na Yoon replied without hesitation, “Yes“.

With a shocked expression, Moo Won turned around to face Na Yoon, and the scene ended with her asking, “Can’t I?“, rousing viewers’ curiosity as they wondered if this would be the beginning of a new couple, or if Na Yoon would have to face rejection once again.

In a recent recording of SBS‘s ‘Protect the Boss‘, Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee filmed a scene that involved a romantic back hug while he asked her out on a date.

The scene was filmed inside an elevator, and in order to avoid being caught on CCTV cameras installed in the ceiling, Ji Sung hid behind Choi Kang Hee and shyly pulled her into a hug.  Once the doors actually opened, however, they were discovered by chairman Cha and secretary Jang, causing Ji Sung to accidentally shove Choi Kang Hee away.  Hilariously, she ended up being pushed into chairman Cha’s arms.
The chairman nonchalantly replied, “You guys can continue whatever you were doing!”
Producers stated, “It’s an important scene that really brings forth their love line to the spotlight.  At the time of the filming, fans of the drama showed up to give their support, so the set was lively and energized.”

SBS‘s ‘Protect the Boss’ revealed that they will be extending the series by two whole episodes!
‘Protect the Boss’ is currently well-received amongst fans for being a unique drama without any antagonists, and for presenting respectable content in each episode. With love lines finally building up in recent episodes, fans are looking forward to the story’s development through this extension.
The drama was originally scheduled for 16 episodes, but producers revealed that they’ve grown very affectionate of the characters and didn’t hesitate in accepting an extension offer.
One producer praised, “The teamwork is amazing” before he continued, “The viewer ratings that we guess as a team are oftentimes a lot higher than what the actual viewer ratings are. There are still so many stories regarding the characters’ love lives and such, which is why we confirmed an extension for the drama.”
To accommodate the change, ‘The Tree of Deep Roots‘ will begin airing on October 5th.

Jaejoong and Wang Jihye went head to head in a karaoke singing battle on the September 8th episode of SBS drama, ‘Protect the Boss’.

Recently at one Kangnam karaoke, Cha Moo Won (Jaejoong) and Seo Na Yoon (Wang Jihye) each sang two of their favorite songs.
Wang Jihye was first to grab the microphone and sang Baek Ji-Young’s “Don’t Forget Me”, shouting in a comical way. She also sang Jin Joo’s “I’m Alright” along with the dance moves while wildly shaking a tambourine.
While filming her scene at the karaoke, fellow cast members Ji Sung and also staff members praised and commented, “Wang Ji Hye’s singing scene is bound to make headlines and the drama program ratings are expected go up.
Jaejoong also added, “Wang Jihye’s comical singing skills are the best of the best,” giving her a thumbs up and continuing, “Lately a lot of people are asking about her and are curious as to who she is … there are people who are saying she looks different from her cold image and in the drama she shows a cute side and some people are calling me asking to introduce them to her.
In response to this comment, Wang Jihye replied with excitement and laughter, yelling, “Call!” making people on the set burst with laughter.
After Wang Jihye’s performance, Jaejoong showed his own vocal talent. He sang Shin Sung Woo’s “Suh Shi” and Sung Shi Kyung’s “You Were An Impression”, which made the production staff speak highly of him saying, “He certainly is Korea’s top singer.

8 September:

Hold your hearts, ‘Protect the Boss‘ fans — it looks like a fight over a lady will be going down on the twelfth episode of the popular SBS drama on today’s episode.
As the September 8 broadcast revealed, Cha Moo Won (played by Jaejoong) picked a fight with Cha Ji Heon (played by Jisung), who had taken No Eun Seoul (played by Choi Kang Hee) from him.
Even though Moo Won had spent time with Eun Seol as a friend, he could not easily suppress his romantic feelings. Thus, Moo Won told Ji Heon in the bathroom, “I don’t think it’ll work. I don’t think I can send her that easily.
Humiliated by Moo Won’s provocations Ji Heon then asked, “What do you mean?” in which Moo Won responded with, “I already told you beforehand, so it’s not foul play.” Ji Heon stopped Moo Won by grabbing his shoulder, only to meet Moo Won’s head butt.
While tensions arose between the two, the fight ended hilariously; check out what happened below!

2 September:

On September 2nd, SBS’s ‘Protect the Boss‘ aired its 10th episode and managed to amuse many viewers with one particular scene.
The scene began with ‘Seo Na Yoon’ (played by Wang Ji Hye) finally letting ‘Cha Ji Hun’ (played by Ji Sung) go free, after realizing how much happier he was with ‘Noh Eun Sul’ (played by Choi Kang Hee) by his side.
After it hit her that the relationship she had with Ji Hun was now completely over, Na Yoon started to cry uncontrollably. In order to cheer her up, Eun Sul and her friend delivered a cover of 2NE1’s “I Am The Best” while drinking cans of beer. The silliness of the entire situation amused the show’s viewers immensely.
SBS’s ‘Protect the Boss’ is becoming a hot drama, thanks to its childish, yet lovable characters, as well as its well-written storyline.

Even during the time of the recording, I was chatting with her comfortably while acting.  I was actually really surprised to see the passionate reactions from so many fans after that particular scene was aired.”
He continued, “Because of the kiss scene, I began to think that in Moo Won’s heart, he still had feelings for Na Yoon even though he liked Noh Eun Seol.  I want for Moo Won to have a love line with either one of the two.  I’ll continue to work hard to turn Moo Won into a character that both I and the viewers want.”

23 August:

On the latest episode of SBS’s “Protect the Boss”, the general managers of ‘DN Group’, ‘Ji Heon’ (played by Ji Sung) and ‘Mu Won’ (played by Jaejoong) got into a hilarious fight.
After practicing a couple of times, the actors immediately dived into their roles as soon as the director yelled ‘Action!‘. Ji Sung, first stomped on Jaejoong’s foot, and the fight escalated from there with both men pulling at each other’s hair!
Citizens watching this scene from outside asked the producer with concern, “What are Ji Sung and Jaejoong fighting about?, while studying them with inquisitive eyes.

With “Protect the Boss” receiving great viewer ratings, Jaejoong is also receiving great reviews with his composed acting.
In particular, Jaejoong is receiving praise from the production team and senior actors. On a shoot that took place in a cafe in Gyeonggido, Jaejoong was seen closely reviewing his own acting in which he shot separately through a mini-camcorder.
The production team asked for his reasons in doing this, and Jaejoong replied, “When I monitor previous scenes like this, it helps me connect my emotions for the next scene”, and “So I try my best to observe my acting right after the shoot and ask the opinions of other senior actors / actresses”. Showing his hard work ethic, after answering the question he went right back to studying the script and the video clips on the mini-camcorder.

13 July:
As previously reported, JYJ’Jaejoong will be formally debuting as an actor next month throughSBS’s new drama, ‘Protect the Boss‘.  Although he’s starred in the 2009 Japanese-Korean movie, “Heaven’s Postman“, as well as a Fuji TV drama, this will be his first time being on the Korean small screen.

He’ll be playing the role of the chic but skilled ‘Cha Moo Won’ in a drama about the romance between a rookie secretary and the rebellious son of a conglomerate.
Jaejoong began, “I let myself take a long time in checking over drama and movie casting offers. There were a few that I couldn’t accept because of the arrangements or because the timing just didn’t fit. ‘Protect the Boss’, however, stood out to me with its fun scenario. I felt that the role of ‘Cha Moo Won’ would fit me well, so I decided to take the role.”
He continued, “Since it’s a drama that focuses on employment issues and the obstacles that people face while working in companies, the message can be a bit heavy for viewers. I do, however, feel that viewers will be able to see a piece of themselves in the drama and find themselves both touched and happy.”

When asked what the atmosphere on set was like, he smiled and replied, “The best. Since I’m inexperienced with acting, all of the seniors give me a lot of great advice. On days when we’re not filming, Jisung-hyung will call me over to his house and rehearse the script with me.

They believe that the actors must be close to each other in order to bring out natural acting, so they set up a lot of hangouts where we can get to know each other. Senior Cha Hwa Yeon, who plays the role of the mother, always calls me ’son’ and takes care of me. Senior Park Young Kyu is also great at looking out for me. I love going to the film set lately.”
The drama will begin airing after ‘City Hunter‘ ends, a fact that draws great anticipation since ‘City Hunter’ enjoys the status of being one of the most highly-rated dramas for that time slot.
Speaking on the topic of viewer ratings, Jaejoong commented, “I don’t think I’m in the position to worry about the viewer ratings yet. I think the director and staff members will worry about that, and I’m planning to just focus on my acting. Perhaps after the drama begins broadcasting, I’ll pay more attention to the viewer rating. When Yoochun began ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘, I saw him checking the reactions online, even though he’s usually not a computer person. I saw that and thought to myself, ‘That’s me in the future. (laughter) I just hope it does as well as ‘City Hunter’.”

Since his partner in the drama is actress Choi Kang Hee, Jaejoong was asked whether there would be any kiss scenes like the one with Han Hyo Joo in his movie, “Heaven’s Postman”.
Jaejoong replied, “The full script isn’t out yet, so I’m not sure whether there will be a kiss scene. If it’s in the script, I definitely have to do it (laughter). Because there’s a considerable age difference between me and senior Choi Kang Hee, I’m always asked what I think about older women. I honestly don’t believe that age matters in love.”
Concluding the interview, he said, “My image as a singer on stage is engraved with my fans, but I hope that you will all regard me as rookie actor Kim Jaejoong when watching the drama. Even if my acting is still lacking, please continue to watch over me. I will show improvement with each new episode.”
