It’s just been announced that Boom and Super Junior‘s Leeteuk will be taking over MC Kang Ho Dong‘s place in SBS‘s ‘Star King‘.
Kang Ho Dong‘s decision to temporarily retire earlier this month left the seat vacant for quite some time, and so producers decided to bring in Boom and Leeteuk to fill his role. Episodes with Kang Ho Dong will run until October 8th before recordings with the two new MCs begin.Although it was previously revealed that Kim Sung Joo was the most likely candidate for the role, producers felt that a two-person position would be better for the show, especially since Boom and Leeteuk are known for their work together on ‘Strong Heart’ as fixed guests. Since their MCing skills have already been acknowledged by viewers, they became the most likely choice. On September 29th, producers of SBS revealed, “Boom and Leeteuk’s positions are temporary and the producers will continue to work to direct the show down a new path.”Aiding Boom and Leeteuk on the sidelines will be Byun Gi Soo and Jo Hye Ryun. A third MC position is currently in discussion.

Viewers shed tears after listening to Byun Hye Jung, a patient with a rare disease.
For this week’s broadcast of SBS “Star King”, Byun Hye Jung appeared and gave a very special performance. Byun Hye Jung is a person that’s very sick with a very rare disease. She lost all of her strength in her muscles and it’s almost impossible for her to move around, so she’s confined to a wheelchair. Not only that, but she is also stricken with asthma and various other diseases.
Byun Hye Jung trained in vocal studies when she was young and had dreams of one day becoming a singer. However, her dreams fell apart as her health worsened. Byun Hye Jung is dependent on an oxygen tank next to her at all times and she even has a hard time doing simple tasks, such as speaking.
Despite that, Byun Hye Jung decided that she wanted to perform under the spotlight for her children before her health condition worsens even further.
Disregarding her sickened health, Byun Hye Jung keeps a happy and bright image. It was said that right before she had surgery, with only a 50% chance of survival, she had even asked that Eun Ji Won’s “Drunk in melody” be turned on for her in the surgery room, revealing that she was a fan of the artist.
Hearing this, Eun Ji Won stood up from his seats and sang “Drunk in melody” for her. As Byun Hye Jung followed along to Eun Ji Won’s singing, everyone teared up as they watched Byun Hye Jung. Also, Eun Ji Won was unable to hold back, and let out his tears after seeing her.
Viewers who watched this week’s broadcast stated, “I pray that Byun Hye Jung will get well soon.” “It was very moving. I want to help her in anyway.” “I cried a lot. You are a true mother.”
10 April:On April 9th, Piggy Dolls guested on SBS’s “Star King” and shed tears over the pressure to lose weight.
Kim Min Sun (21), who weighs 90kg, began, “My mother runs a small restaurant, and my father runs a Chinese take-out. I was born with the love of eating, which is how I got my current ‘U-line.’“ She went on to reveal that the group’s combined weight totaled to 232kg, with Lee Ji Yeon (21) weighing at 72kg, andmaknae Park Ji Eun (18) at 70kg.
Park Ji Eun continued, “When we first auditioned, there were three conditions. First, we had to be talented vocally. We also could not have had any plastic surgery done, and we had to weigh over 70kg.”
Unfortunately, due to the flop of their debut album, the conditions have changed drastically, as she went on to reveal, “Before, we’d say that we just ate and our CEO would still order us something to eat, but after our first album flopped, he said that the fat concept won’t work anymore. He’s trying to change our image now by making us lose weight, but we don’t want to.”
When asked by MC Kang Ho Dong whether they had any intentions of reaching a compromise with their agency, Kim Min Sun replied, “We, of course, thought about it. But let’s say that we lose weight and get plastic surgery. That doesn’t mean we can become SNSD. Kang Ho Dong is overweight, but also became the best MC. Why can’t overweight people achieve their dreams?”
She continued, “The pain of being told to leave the room at auditions even before I opened my mouth to sing is still left in my heart. I want people that are overweight to not be so self-conscious and to be able to leave their house without shame. We want to become hope to them.”
