Earlier today, various news outlets reported that the Turtles would be disbanding. As it turns out, those reports were false.
Member Geumbi cleared up the issue by revealing, “We had no idea that such reports had gone out, so we’re very surprised with all of this. After concluding our promotions last month, we’ve been attending various events together, so we’re not sure exactly why such a report was made. All those reports stating that we’ve disbanded are not true at all.”
When asked whether Jiyi would be studying abroad in Japan, she replied, “Jiyi herself is surprised as well. She has no thoughts about quitting her career to study in Japan. I, too, will not be quitting my career in this industry to look for another job.”
Commenting on the financial issues that were mentioned in previous articles, they said, “It is true that we’re going through some difficulties in that aspect, but it’s not to the point where we have to disband. We’re all eating well and spending happy days.”
Lastly, she stated, “The members have not once thought of disbanding; it just doesn’t work for us. I haven’t contacted Lee Kang yet, but I feel that he’ll be just as surprised to hear this as we were. We will not be disbanding.”
After overcoming the death of Turtleman and regrouping after a 5-year hiatus, Turtles has announced that they will be disbanding again, just 5 months into their comeback.
According to industry officials, the members recently held a meeting and came to the consensus of disbanding the band and pursuing their individual paths. The reason laid heavily in the financial burden, as the members had to personally fund the production of their comeback album, “Hero“.
Costs were higher than expected, and the members felt pressured by the burden. On top of that, new member Lee Kang couldn’t join them in promotions due to personal reasons. In the end, the group decided that it was impossible to continue the team any longer.
Member Jiyi will be going back to study abroad in Japan while Geumbi is looking into other career options outside of the entertainment industry.
1 Mei:After releasing an MV teaser for their title track, “Hero“, Turtles finally unveiled two versions of their music video.
The drama version of “Hero” tells the stories of Snow White and Cinderella in a comical way. Gagwomen Oh Nami and Kim Min Kyung make cameos as the two fairytale princesses, but with an interesting twist – princes literally fall at their feet not because of their beauty or virtue, but because of their interesting body odors.
Meanwhile, the other version holds a traditional MV set up, with the Turtles members dancing happily to their upbeat song.
