UEE uploaded a new photo onto her me2day on February 9th, and wrote, “It’s been a while since I’ve been in the practice room. With Baekho haha~”
She also revealed, “Right! Everyone! How do you like Baekho’s name? I gave him his name! You didn’t know that, right? haha~ Our NU’EST works hard, even when it’s very late! Cheer them on~! And me too~^^”
The two family members from Pledis Entertainment posed together for the camera, with Baekho giving a shy smile. Fans responded warmly to this affectionate gesture from UEE, who is doing what she can amidst her busy schedule to help promote the group.

UEE has officially made her name known as a respectable actress through ‘Ojakyo Brothers’ and is being praised by the viewers for her splendid performance in the drama.
She is sassy at times saying what’s on her mind, while also managing to melt the hearts of viewers with her bubbly and adorable smile. She also proved that she can cry on the spot, shedding heavy tears of sorrow in scenes where she yearns for her father.
She is loved by viewers of all ages, as she is able to be cute with a man she loves, but sociable and pleasant with her elders.
UEE displayed genuine emotions during highly intense scenes, and her believable acting earned her a Rookie Actress Award at the year-end KBS drama award ceremony.
Her agency Pledis stated, “UEE who has worked so hard to improve her acting and is more than grateful that her fans are recognizing her potential. She will work even harder in order to thank her viewers for their support.”

Although UEE joined After School in 2009 with “Diva“, she made her first TV appearance as Yubin‘s friend on MBC‘s ‘Introducing a Star’s Friend‘. She was also a trainee for Five Girls with SECRET‘sHyosung, G.NA, and others.

On December 1st, UEE was asked, “If the son of a wealthy family wanted to marry you, but you had to give up your career, what would you do?” The singer responded, “If someone I loved asked me to step down from the industry to live a quiet life together, I would have a lot of thinking to do. This would be regardless of whether or not he comes from a wealthy family“.
“Regardless of marriage, I do plan on temporarily taking a break from the entertainment industry if I have a child. I would return maybe when he or she enters elementary school. I just want to give my child the same amount of love that my own mother gave me to me and my sister. That’s my dream“, she explained.
UEE continued, “But as of right now, I really like my career. I myself believe that this is a huge blessing. When my child reaches a certain age, I would most likely return. Like my seniors Kim Nam Joo, Jun Inhwa and Oh Yeonsoo, I want to maintain a perfect figure even after giving birth to children. Like them, I would like to sharpen my acting skills and return to the industry after starting a family to become an active actress.”
The idol also congratulated Choi Jung Yoon on her wedding, and expressed her respect for Choi who skipped her honeymoon because of a drama filming. “Unni, your professionalism is so admirable. If you plan on having a housewarming party, invite me over! I’ll bring over some good food“, said UEE.

Her fame seemed to know no end, as she was offered another main role in a new drama, ‘Birdie Buddy‘. UEE received criticism for taking on too many roles and was rumored to be careless in her responsibilities as an Afterschool member, but didn’t let that faze her. She wanted to make herself known in the acting world. But all of it must’ve been too good to be true, as the broadcast date for ‘Birdie Buddy’ kept being pushed back, and no one knew realistically, if and when it would actually air.
All of her hard work seemed to be thrown out the window, but another opportunity came knocking for UEE. ‘Birdie Buddy’, which seemed to have no future even after over a year of shooting the drama, was finally scheduled to air on tvN, and not only that, UEE was also cast in the new KBS-2TV weekend drama, ‘Ojakyo Brothers‘.
“I’m really ecstatic. I am kind of nervous that both dramas are being broadcast at the same time, but I’m glad I’m able to share two distinctly different characters in the two dramas with all of our viewers. I wish we could’ve aired ‘Birdie Buddy’ a little sooner, but better late than never! I’m thrilled that I’m getting to do everything I want to do, and every day is a joyful blessing.”
The nay sayers were concerned about both projects being broadcast at the same time, but UEE who is an optimist and sees the positive in all situations, believed that this was a golden opportunity for herself. She plays a sassy and confident character in ‘Ojakyo Brothers’, and then a more sincere, innocent character in ‘Birdie Buddy’. She stated she wanted to showcase a new side of her for all of her fans. It is true that she is still inexperienced when it comes to acting and therefore a bit awkward, but instead of allowing her shortcomings to make her shy away from acting, she is proactive and determined in learning more to become a better actress.
“It’s so strange when I see myself acting on screen. But in ‘Birdie Buddy’, the director asked me to be myself in the drama, rather than playing a role he had in mind, so it made it a little easier on me. I was probably a little too natural! (laughs). I played the role of a female athlete, and it reminded me of my high school days when I used to swim. And in ‘Ojakyo Brothers’, I played a role completely different from my own personality, so that was fun. I think through these dramas, I’ve learned to become more honest with myself and others.”
UEE is slowly earning her creds as an actress, and she is enjoying learning what acting is all about. Rather than considering it ‘work’, she is merely doing something she truly enjoys and giving it her 100%.
“I’m thankful for all the new attention. Instead of letting it stress me out, I remind myself that this is the beginning of something new, and I want to work to develop myself as an actress.”
It won’t be easy for UEE, since she made her debut in the entertainment world as an idol star first, and is still at the bottom of the acting world. However, UEE will work hard and continue to be optimistic, just like she has done up until now. We hope that she never loses her smile, or her fighting spirit.
10 July:
UEE was recently cast as the leading role for KBS’s upcoming drama, ‘Ojakgyo Brothers‘, and is currently in the midst of filming. Because it’s a weekend drama, the filming schedule isn’t as tight as other dramas, but adding After School’s schedule on top of that definitely makes up for the difference.
As previously reported, After School will be promoting as two units this month. The girls are also preparing for a showcase on July 17th, which will be followed by the release of their official Japanese debut single on August 17th.
They also signed on as models for cosmetics brand “The Saem“, for which they must attend fan signings and various other events as a part of their endorsement duties.
Her professional obligations aside, UEE’s been receiving acting lessons and holding script rehearsals whenever time permits. A representative of Pledis explained, “UEE has always been athletic so she has a lot of stamina. She exercises whenever she has spare time in order to manage herself. She’s also been on a diet and has a slim new body to show off.”
We’re glad that she’s in high demand, but let’s hope she doesn’t overdo it!

On July 4th, the idol tweeted, “It’s been a long time since my parents and I took out my old photo. 4kg… I danced to the choreography of ‘Different scent~~♬’ starting when I was born.”
Along with her newborn picture, Uee included her birth certificate, where her height is listed as 51cm and her weight as 4kg.

After School’s UEE recently unveiled the identity of her boyfriend.
On May 8th, the idol tweeted, “I found a boyfriend. Hee thank you. Let’s go see our parents.”
Fortunately, for her male fans the boyfriend turned out to be a teddy bear instead of a real person as she added a picture where she’s about to kiss a giant stuffed teddy bear.

On May 4th, UEE uploaded the picture through her Twitter with the tweet, “Short hair I had during a photoshoot! Should I just cut it off? I grew it out for 3 years.”
In the picture, UEE moved away from her usually long hairstyle to a short bob. However, it was revealed that UEE didn’t actually cut her hair but instead wore a short wig for the photoshoot.

On April 27th, UEE stated in an interview, “I want to continue acting” – revealing an extraordinary affection and passion for acting.
For those readers who may have not known, UEE was cast for a drama called “Birdie Buddy”, which was actually based off of Korea’s first golf cartoon, called Birdie” and was modeled after successful professional Korean golfers such as Se Ri Park, Michelle Wie, Y.E. Yang, Anthony Kim and others. It was planned to air through MBC, but those plans eventually fell through resulting in UEE to experience much heartache.
UEE stated, “I’m disappointed that ‘Birdie Buddy’ hasn’t aired on television yet, but if the opportunity arises, I would like to continue acting.”
She also revealed that she felt the power of Korean dramas when she visited Japan. She stated, “There was a time when I went to Japan with the After School members for a shooting. The many Japanese students in uniform came up to me saying, ‘UEE-san, we recognize you from ‘You’re Beautiful‘. It was really interesting.”
24 April:
Pictures of Uee visiting a Nine West shop in Myung-dong were recently revealed.
According to one store worker, “Uee showed a lot of interest towards gladiator shoes. These type of shoes are a good compliment for her long legs.”
In the pictures that were uploaded, netizens were able to see Uee showing off her tall height and slim body line.

Dressed in a chic outfit that gives off a bright, yet relaxed air, UEE’s photo definitely spiked interest for those After School fans who are patiently waiting for their comeback at the end of the month. The girls are gearing up to drop their first official album, “Virgin“, and fans are sure to be treated to not just a photo teaser series, but an MV teaser in the future as well.
Fans can expect another update with the first generation on April 21st.
