Ojakgyo Brothers

19 Feb:
After School‘s UEE looked breathtaking as a blushing bride on a recent episode of ‘Ojakgyo Brothers‘.

On February 18th, fans got to see the long-awaited wedding ceremony between Tae Hee (Joo Won) and Ja Eun (UEE). After going through numerous ups and downs, the two characters finally tied the knot.
UEE came out in a one-strap wedding dress that complemented her sleek shoulder and collarbone. Since her veil was quite elaborate, UEE kept her accessories and bouquet to a simple minimum.
Considering how UEE and Joo Won both confessed that they would date each other in real life, could this be a portent of things to come?

30 December:
KBS‘s weekend drama, ‘Ojakgyo Brothers‘, has announced that they will be extending its series with eight more episodes.

On December 29th, KBS reported, “‘Ojakgyo Brothers’ was originally planning to end with 50 episodes, but they’ve decided to broadcast another eight. Only six were initially discussed, but two more were added.”
The drama began airing on August 6th and earned widespread popularity for its family-centered plot. The drama revolves around four brothers and the Ojakgyo farm; in particular actor Joo Won and After School‘s UEE have been spotlighted for their performances. ‘Ojakgyo Brothers’ has been consistently recording 20% in viewer ratings, coming in at first in overall drama ratings.
The extra episodes were discussed due to the popularity picking up near the second half of the drama’s plot. The entire cast agreed to the changes, but Joo Won unfortunately had to depart from his MBC drama, ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun‘, in order to meet the demands of the schedule.
Chief Go Young Tak explained, “The original 50 episodes was just a general guideline of the plot and we figured that we’d need eight more episodes at least to wrap up the stories between the main characters. It’s popular with the viewers, and the actors themselves want the extension, so there’s no reason to end it prematurely.”

11 December:

On December 10th, the 37th episode of KBS 2TV weekend drama, ‘Ojakgyo Brothers aired and featured a hot kiss scene between Tae-Pil(Yun Woo Jin) and Nam Yeol(Song Sun Mi).
Prior to episode 37, the pair had a weak bond and were confused about their relationship.  However, with the unexpected kiss scene in the latest episode, the couple confirmed their deep affection for each other.
In episode 37, Tae-Pil found out about the relationship between Tae-Hee (Joo Won) and Ja Eun(UEE).  In exchange for keeping the relationship as a secret, Tae-Pil acquired Tae-Hee’s credit card.  At the same time, Tae-Pil learned that Nam Yeol won’t be attending a meeting with her friends because she doesn’t have a partner of the opposite sex.  Tae-Pil took advantage of the situation as he fully utilized Tae-Hee’s credit card by purchasing a glamorous suit and renting a convertible Audi! (Wow, talk about raping your brother’s credit card..)
After persuading Nam Yeol to attend the meeting with him, the couple finally arrived at the location of the meeting.  However, Nam Yeol’s friends were suspicious of Tae-Pil’s young appearance and doubted their relationship.  Thus, Tae-Pil attempted to feed Nam Yeol like a real couple, however Nam Yeol’s awkward behavior had her friends doubting even more.  Nam Yeol stood up and decided to leave the area, but was stopped when Tae-Pil turned her around and planted a deep kiss on her lips.

She also gave off the image of a peasant woman perfectly. On her forehead, she wore a head lantern, and she wrapped a sweat towel around her neck. She held a sprayer in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other.
The staff watching UEE working hard while gardening for her role commented, “She is so strong. She actually seems like a real farm worker.”
She took on different tasks that the average Korean farmer takes on, such as pruning and picking out weeds. When she heard about the strong comment, UEE replied, “I am indeed pretty strong,” which cracked up everyone on the set.

1 August:
It seems that After School’s UEE has hit the motherlode with her latest drama project, KBS’s ‘Ojakgyo Brothers‘. The praise has been rolling in nonstop for her better-than-expected acting skills, especially with her latest portrayal of a drunken, bitter woman.

For her more recent shoot, UEE had to act like she was drunk to the point of stumbling. Though she was dead sober, staff members were so convinced by her acting that they questioned whether or not she had any alcohol, and praised her as a “natural-born actress”.
In order to express her drunken emotions, UEE studied other movies and dramas. She also likes parties since she’s a sociable person, and we think that some of her experiences came out through her acting,” commented a person familiar with UEE.
According to staff on set, UEE managed to keep up the act throughout the entire duration of the shoot, which lasted around eight hours.
A drama representative stated, “Thanks to UEE and her ability to act without touching a single drop of beer, the shooting set was more lively and energy-driven than usual. Since this is a scene where ‘Baek Ja Eun’ expresses her stress and suffering, her feelings will be able to directly touch with the viewer’s sympathies.”
Stay tuned for more updates on UEE’s drunken scene!

Recent images of After School’s UEE getting pelted by eggs raised a stir when they were released, but it turns out that it was a scripted event from her KBS drama, ‘Ojakgyo Brothers‘.

In order to create a realistic scene, one of the male staff members had to pelt the actress with real eggs as well as soft drinks. UEE didn’t move a muscle despite the dairy detritus bombarding her from head to toe.
Not only did she manage to shoot the scene perfectly, she also took the time to ask her fellow actors if they were all right from the pelting. “Even though it was a tough shoot for an actress to handle, UEE handled the egg-pelting scene without a word of complaint,” said the producer for ‘Ojakgyo Brothers’.“Thanks to her enthusiasm for acting, she is exhibiting a powerful gumption that carries her through the most difficult scenes.”

Only a few staff members participated in the bath scene, which was filmed only once. Trying to lighten up the tense atmosphere, UEE was said to have smiled brightly and joked around with the members on set.
A representative stated, “UEE participated actively in the bath scene, which most actresses do not prefer, and showcased her professionalism as a mature actress. It was a scene where she revealed the personality of her character, ‘Baek Ja Eun’. Her character will add more fun to the drama by going head-to-head with the farm family members, who are startlingly different from her cosmopolitan self.
