“Sadness” is the sixth single from Startory Entertainment’s six-man rock band, and was penned by Jo Young Soo, the composer behind T-ara‘s “Cry Cry” as well as various other k-pop hits.

10 Mar:
LEDApple‘s new song, “Sadness, is steadily leading the group into stardom.

On March 9th, “Sadness” was released through various music portal sites, and since then it has reached #8 on MelOn and #12 on Mnet. A big feat for these boys, considering that they have been underdogs as a rock idol group in the midst of more mainstream, pop idol groups.
This new track was created by one of Korea’s best composers, Cho Young Soo, who has made hit songs like T-ara‘s “Cry Cry” and Huh Gak‘s “Always”. This was LEDApple’s first time collaborating with Cho Young Soo and the composer’s magic touch seems to be taking effect.
LEDApple aims to display a more mature and chic side than before with their new promotion, and they’ve also incorporated the dance that took the world by storm, shuffling.

18 Feb:

Since the release of their digital single “Dash” in October 2010, LEDApple has made their mark as a hot, young, and rising indie-style idol rock band.  Since their debut, there has been a few member changes, luckily that has not prevented their stable rise in popularity.
On February 18th, LEDapple revealed that it’s already been 500 days since their debut.
They wrote on their me2day, “(Please) Congratulate LEDapple on our 500 day anniversary (^.^) You’ll stay with us till our 5,000 day and (even our) 50,000 day right? If LEDA fans say they will, we will too (^.~)“.
LEDApple also simultaneously released a video thanking LEDA fans and celebrating their anniversary.
In the video Hanbyul replied, “Even though (there were some member changes and) we didn’t continue with our first members, from now on, we’ll actively perform for 5 years, 50 years, 5,000 years, so please root for us“.
Kyumin jokingly warned, “Please like (and support) us to the end, if you change I’ll come after you, even to hell“.
You can watch their cute video below:

Meanwhile, LEDApple has been promoting their single “Time Is Up“, which was produced by Shinsadong Tiger. Congratulations to the boys on their 500th day anniversary!

The song expresses the thoughts of a man who’s disheartened by the fact that the woman he loves needs more time to accept his feelings.  The MV takes a unique approach to the ‘countdown clock’ concept by incorporating the theme not only in the audio sounds, but also in many of the visual aesthetics.
The MV manages to combine softer fantasy elements with the intense charisma of the group making for an inventive music video.  It shows the members literally battle with time hoping their lady-love will quickly make her decision.

Six-member boy group LEDApple have announced that they’ve appointed a new leader!

The leader of the group until now has been Hanbyul, who is currently a dental student at the University of Queensland in Australia. Hanbyul will now be passing the baton to Young Jun, who is of the same age.
Young Jun is the guitarist of the band, and he’s taken lessons from Kim Do Kyun as well as Zack Kim, a famous YouTube celebrity amongst guitarists who’s known to play two guitars with both hands simultaneously.
Although there have been member swaps in the past due to issues like mandatory military service, Young Jun has been with the band since the very beginning. He knows how to encourage his groupmates and has consistently shown leadership qualities.
It’s a lot of responsibility to be the leader, but I will work hard to lead the group to our goal, which is to win an award from a major music program,” said Young Jun. “A lot of our LEDApple members are extremely talented, as they can write their own songs, DJ, rap, and more. With these talents in hand, I would like to greet our fans with one-of-a-kind performances.”

LEDApple will soon be making a comeback with “Time Is Up“, which was produced by Shinsadong Tiger. The song expresses the thoughts of a man who’s disheartened by the fact that the woman he loves needs more time to accept his feelings.
The boys are preparing to make a strong return to the music industry, starting with their comeback performance on Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘ on February 2nd. They will also be performing on KBS‘s ‘Music Bank‘ on the 3rd. Source: allkpop

23 December:

LED Apple‘s long legs are becoming a hot topic of conversation amongst netizens.
A few candid shots of the boys at a recent photo shoot surfaced via an online community site on December 23rd with the caption, “LED Apple looks as though they’ll shoot through the roof.”
Different from their elaborate stage ensembles, the boys were dressed in casual clothing that uniquely expressed each of the member’s fashion tastes.
LED Apple showcased their impressive tall height that collectively averages 180cm (5’11″), and donned chic, charismatic poses that reportedly overwhelmed all the ladies on set.
Netizens who saw the photos left comments such as, “Are these candid shots or pictorials from a photo shoot?”, “How tall are they exactly?”, “They look like models“, “They look like gods“, “They’re about to reach the ceiling“, and more.
Meanwhile, the boys are distinguishing themselves from other idol groups by making themselves known as a ‘performance band’, showcasing their vocal talent with their song “Accidentally Ran Into You“.

22 December:
The members of LEDApple recently sat down for an interview with StarIn and revealed that they wanted to become “the smartphone of the music industry.”

Inspired by the revolutionary development of a smartphone, LEDApple expressed that they wanted to showcase continual growth with their music. With smartphones, each new update creates an irresistible desire amongst users to upgrade to the next level. Likewise, LEDApple wants every new release to further entice the public to listen to their music.
The band debuted back in October of 2010, but they’ve gone through several member changes since then so they consider themselves a ‘middle-aged rookie group’. The frequent member changes don’t seem to worry them, as they considered it as a rite of passage.
Youngjun and Kwangyeon expressed, “The member switchups  gave the overall group a different feel. We feel that compared to the past, we’ve become a lot more sturdy and complete.”
Commenting on their growing popularity, the band said, “We have a lot of new fans tell us they became our fans after watching us perform when they originally went to see another artist. We’re not that high on the public recognition scale, but we’re going to work hard to make more people think that we’re an okay group.”

Rookie band-group LED Apple has made official statements to clarify the plagiarism issue.
LED Apple released their title song, “Who Do You Think You Are”, as a teaser for their first album through Youtube and other online communities, but certain listeners raised their voice finding the song strikingly similar to CNBLUE’s “LOVE”.
One netizen even went as far as making a video comparing the chorus of the two songs. The video is now spreading on various blog and internet cafes.
In response, LED Apple’s managing company, Startory made an official statement on June 17th through a press release regarding the plagiarism issue.
Startory stated that because “Who Do You Think You Are” was composed by Lee Sang Ho, who also composed CNBLUE’s song, there shouldn’t be an issue at all.
The Official Statement from Startory:
“Hello, we are the managing company of group LED Apple, Startory. First of all, we’re sincerely thankful for the overwhelming attention given to group, LED Apple.
We are announcing our official position in regards to the plagiarism issue that was sparked after the release of LED Apple’s teaser on the 13th.
The composer of LED Apple’s “Who Do You Think You Are” also composed the specific song that it’s being compared to. Therefore, it’s not possible that “Who Do You Think You Are” is a plagiarized song.
The members of LED Apple and our staff went through heartache ever since the plagiarism issue arose, but we couldn’t announce the truth behind the composition of the song before we even released the official album. So here we are finally announcing our official statement after the album release.
With this incident as both a reminder and an opportunity, we will work even harder to overcome the trouble we have given to everyone and the specific band. We ask for your continued interest and love. Thank you.”

14 June:

It seems idol group LED Apple is running into a minor obstacle right before their comeback, thanks to the controversial content in their teaser for their new single, “Who Do You Think You Are“.
Some viewers felt that the clip was inappropriate for minors, since it revolved around the members enjoying clubs and alcohol. Three of the members are minors themselves, and so the complaints stem from LED Apple being bad examples for youth.
LED Apple’s agency stated, “‘Who Do You Think You Are’ is about not holding onto a woman who’s leaving, and so we made the concept that way.”
LED Apple will be making their comeback on ‘Music Bank‘ later on this week.

11 June:
With the release of their first mini-album, “Who Do You Think You Are“, just days away, LED Applehas recently caught the attention of netizens for being labelmates to veteran rock singer, Kim Jong Seo.

Kim recently tweeted, “The most anticipated band of Startory, ‘LED Apple’ daebak!!!!!! I genuinely congratulate the creation of your album; it’s one that I can feel your every sweat and passion melted into it. I hope that you will be able to create history in the idol market~~ ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ fire!!!!!!”
Unfortunately, the band seems to have come under a bit of attack, as they recently posted up a video proving their live performance skills on their official YouTube channel.
The boys wrote, “Haters against bands. Who do you think you are to hate on bands? Don’t go on a witch hunt with knowledge you have none of.”
The video explains what hand-syncing is and proves their haters wrong by giving a close up of each of the individual members playing their parts live.
Various hateful comments left by netizens also scroll across the screen.
The boys end the video with a message to the haters that reads:
“Haters, yes, we are a band.  We aren’t holding these instruments just for show. You said we were manipulating the media for getting so many headlines, right? If we don’t promote ourselves, how else will you learn about us? Don’t hate on us for pathetic things like that. Do we look like we’re in an idol band for fun? We’ve been working for this through all obstacles, and are still putting our lives on the line for this.
We’re a band, but we’re also going to dance. Shocking, isn’t it? If you’re going to continue hating us for having no talent, then we’ll just work harder. Haters, thanks for taking an interest in us. We’ll work harder to become the best band for you guys.
But what are you going to do? We practice live, but we’re going to meet you hand-syncing on music programs.
On June 16th, with ‘Who Do You Think You Are’.”
Stay tuned for their teaser release on June 13th!
