In her interview with Star News, Bom revealed, “I didn’t think that ‘Don’t Cry‘ would be ranked first, so it was very surprising. There was a lot of pressure since I was the first up to bat for 2NE1’s comeback, and fortunately I’ve received great results.”

She continued, “I think I was really lucky. Even though I felt the pressure of being first, I convinced myself to believe that it was good pressure. I truly did my best in order to make sure that everything was perfect. I’m so happy to be receiving so much love.”
At the mention of 2NE1’s triple title tracks all winning first place trophies last year, Bom was then asked whether the group felt any pressure with this promotion cycle.
She replied, “We actually felt more pressure last year. This time, our focus is on enjoying ourselves. We just want to show everyone who we really are.”

28 April:After much teasing over the past few days, YG Entertainment has finally revealed the full details regarding Park Bom’s live performance of ‘Don’t Cry‘ on Friday through their YG-Life Blog.
YG Entertainment’s “YG ON AIR” went live this April 29th, and the first live performance of Park Bom’s ‘Don’t Cry’ was shown together with details of 2NE1’s impending comeback next month.
”YG ON AIR” is a collaboration with Korean portal site Naver, and it consists of media content that YG Entertainment directly produces. YG had planned this for a long time, as they had always wanted to break away from the frames of broadcast programs and create fun content based on their own ideas.
Besides seeing Park Bom perform acoustic versions of her digital singles, ‘Don’t Cry’ plus ‘You and I‘, there was also confirmation of 2NE1’s impending comeback by 2NE1 themselves during the show. Their new song, ‘Lonely‘, is scheduled to drop on May 12th.

It’s something that we’ve planned for a long time now, as we’ve always wanted to break away from the frames of broadcast programs and create fun content based on our own ideas. The point about “YG ON AIR” is that there are no restrictions. For example, we will be broadcasting Park Bom’s first live performance at 6:05 PM. Big Bang and 2NE1 will not be keeping formality, and it will just be a comfortable live broadcast for our artists and their fans to communicate together. This will also be the fastest way for us to deliver our music video and concert making films.
We’ll be working with Korea’s biggest portal site, Naver. In the future, we’ll be co-producing season three of “2nE1 TV“, as well as stages exclusive to “YG ON AIR.”We will also be providing subtitles through YG LIFE and YOUTUBE so that our international fans can enjoy our content with us. Because this will be done in pirate broadcast fashion, it’s difficult for us to promise a specific broadcast date. For now, we can promise a “Don’t Cry” version sung by 2NE1 next Friday.
We will be reflecting the ideas of our fans, so we ask for your support and anticipation.”
YG Entertainment announced that they didn’t have plans for Bom to promote the song on music programs, but it seems those plans might be reversed.
On the afternoon of April 26th, YG Entertainment uploaded a post that read, “Do you… want to hear Park Bom’s ‘Don’t Cry’ live?”
Due to the explosive interest she’s been gathering ahead of 2NE1’s official comeback, YG seems to be reflecting the attention by throwing a question back at the fans.

24 April:
The morning of the 21st, Park Bom released her solo track, “Don’t Cry“, as her second digital single, and almost instantly thereafter, the song swept major online music charts, thus allowing Bom to achieve her second ‘all kill’.
YG representatives explained today through a telephone call with OSEN, “Park Bom’s song was released online, and at around 1AM, she called Teddy, who produced the song, and burst into tears. The moment Park Bom had started crying, Teddy knew something was going on and took the call while surprised and nervous.”
They added, “It appears that when she had saw that her song placed #1 on various sites, Park Bom wanted to thank Teddy. Also, as the first ‘runner’ in 2NE1’s comeback, she was simultaneously overwhelmed by pressure and relief, and that’s why she started crying. She was probably very worried about having to kick off 2NE1’s comeback with her solo song.”
Park Bom is currently dominating the music charts, with a so-called ‘through-the-roof’ force. Since the moment it was released, she swept the #1 spot not only on Melon, but also on Dosirak, Soribada, M.NET, Bugs, Monkey3, and other representative Korean music charts to achieve the status of ‘perfect all-kill’.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment will be revealing 2NE1’s new songs every three weeks, starting with Park Bom’s solo, and utilizing a differentiated promotion system.
In 2NE1’s Bom’s comeback solo music video for “Don’t Cry“, fans noticed that she was wearing a posthumous work of designer Alexander McQueen.
The piece she’s wearing costs a whopping $20,000 USD, but according to fashion industry representatives, the dress has the potential to cost more since it’s McQueen’s final creation before his death.
The dress was under possession by McQueen’s family, but after finding out that McQueen had worked withBig Bang and 2NE1 in the past, they accepted Yang Hyun Suk’s request to feature it in Bom’s latest music video.
21 April:It took less than 24 hours for Park Bom’s solo single, “Don’t Cry“, to achieve an all-kill on Korea’s real-time music charts (Bugs, Melon, Soribada, Monkey3, Dosirak,). In effect, it completely overtook Big Bang’s “Love Song” and toppled f(x)’s newly released “Pinnochio“, both of which previously occupied top spots on the charts.
Of course, 2NE1’s newly appointed communications director, Sandara Park, shared the good news on herme2day, posting a shot of the all-kill and writing, “Doodoong! South Korea is now all~ getting spring* fever!!!^.^ Just in time for spring, she’s an all-kill on the music charts!!! Confirmation shot ke“. (Note: Bom also means ’spring’ in Korean)
Congratulations to Park Bom on her successful solo single!
