KARA‘s Kang Jiyoung, who turned 18 this year, recently attended the press conference for her upcoming Japanese drama and answered a few questions.
As reported earlier, Jiyoung and Supernova‘s Gun Il will be playing lead roles in TokyoTV‘s new drama, ‘Rainbow Rose‘.
The drama will begin airing April 13th, but Kang Jiyoung was at the center of attention at the press conference held on the 3rd as she answered questions about taking on some more mature scenes in the new series; acting intoxicated by alcohol and performing a ‘cheek kiss’.
According to the reports made by Sankei Sports, Nikkan Sports, Sports Hochi and more, the drama’s director remarked, “Kang Jiyoung showed a lot of ambition for the drama, even suggesting a cheek kiss that wasn’t in the script.”
In regards to her intoxicated scene, Jiyoung stated, “Our team’s Gyuri unni gave me a lot of advice,” which further piqued interest.
The drama is a joint Korean-Japanese romantic-comedy production, and tells the love story which unfolds between Jiyoung, the daughter of a boarding house owner, and Gun Il, who plays the role of a Japanese international student.

Back in November, allkpop reported that KARA‘s Jiyoung was confirmed for the leading role in a Korean-Japanese drama called ‘Rainbow Rose‘.
On March 5th, it was reported that the date of the first broadcast for the drama was finally decided. According to reports, Jiyoung will be able to showcase her acting skills through ‘Rainbow Rose’ starting April 16th.
In particular, the addition of Supernova‘s Gun Il to the cast has raised much expectations among Japanese fans.
‘Rainbow Rose’ is a romantic-comedy that is set at a boarding house and tells the story of love and fate between two college students. Japanese actors Mizusawa Erena and Fujii Mina are also starring in this drama and the drama is currently underway to broadcast in Korea as well.

On March 1st, Ji Young tweeted, “Hand-washing a car for the first time ever! It’s actually fun and easier than I thought. I thought to myself, ‘I’m sure the car will dry itself when I’m driving it’, but haha. There’s still water leftover from the car wash and now there’s dirt all over it.”
In a comfortable outfit, Ji Young is seen diligently scrubbing her Mini with soap and water at a car wash station.

On February 29, a picture was uploaded onto an online community with the title ‘Kang Ji Young’s lofty height in the practice room.’ Along with the picture, the person wrote, “The maknae entertaining her unnis. She stands up straight and gasp! Who’s the maknae and who’s the unni? Ji Young is really tall. I thought she was wearing heels, but she’s wearing sneakers. It might be because the unnis are semi sitting on the chairs, but Kang Ji Young is growing up to be a giant baby.”
The picture displays Ji Young with members Gyuri and Seungyeon in the practice room. At first, it looks as if they are similar in height, but in the second picture we can see the large height difference when Ji Young stands at full height.
Despite being labeled as the baby of the group, seeing her towering over her other members has left netizens nostalgic as they reflected on how much she has grown in many ways since debut.

KARA‘s maknae Kang Jiyoung (18) has graduated from high school!
Jiyoung who is now officially considered an ‘adult’ attended her Muhak Girls’ High School graduation ceremony on the 8th to spend her last day as a young high school student.
Although the singer is busy promoting with her group in both Japan and Korea, she made the time to say her last goodbyes to her classmates and teachers.
She also wrote a few words on her Twitter page the day before saying, “I debuted when I was a freshman in high school, but I’m already a senior, graduating tomorrow. Will I be able to be a mature, successful adult?”
Jiyoung has yet to decide if or when she will apply to college.

The idol showed off her new nail art through Twitter on January 24th, writing, “The nail concept this time is ‘Sexy pack.’
Jiyoung painted her nails with a black-and-gold motif, as if inspired by the glamorous life of a rockstar. Each finger received an original design, with some nails being painted a solid color while others received stripes and dots. The ‘rockstar effect’ was further completed by Jiyoung’s messy short hair, heavily-lined eyes, and dark-red lipstick.

She said, ”The entire English translation part was difficult. But I tried my best to solve each question. Since the test just ended, I don’t know how the results will be. I hope that I achieved good scores.”

Meanwhile, Kang Jiyoung is heading to Sydney to participate in the K-Pop Music Festival.

KARA’s maknae, Jiyoung, recent selca has been gaining interest from fans as she shows off yet another cute side of her character.
On the 3rd, Jiyoung tweeted, “Sweet 18th?” along with a selca of herself in a hanbok. In the picture, Jiyoung gives the camera a closed fist along with comical expression. While it really isn’t the maknae’s birthday, her tweet was most likely in reference to the Korean drama, “Sweet 18.”
In response to her tweet, netizens commented, “That expression is cute, not scary”, “You sure have lots of different expressions”, and “You look really cute wearing a hanbok.”
