MTV Match Up

27 July:

On July 26th, Block B’s Zico presented one fan with a very special gift during MTV’s “Match Up Fanmeet Showcase” with B1A4.

The fanmeet held a segment where fans could come up to the stage and play various games with the members. Later, the members would give away one prized possession of theirs. Zico’s fan ended up coming away with an unreleased mixtape, and drew envy from his other fans.

Comprised of seven untitled tracks, the mixtape was revealed to have been created during his pre-debut training, and features fellow member Kyung as well as other underground artists.

We reported last week that rookie groups Block B and B1A4 would be participating in a special MTV reality show entitled, “Match Up”. The show has just announced that in addition to the premiere episode on June 22nd, they will also be releasing new music videos for both teams. The videos are expected to showcase the very different concepts and styles of the two groups.

First, Block B’s video for their upcoming title track “Tell Them” includes extreme sports and graffiti and is said to encompass the youthful and carefree energy of the seven talented boys. You can catch a glimpse of this in the “Halo” teaser that was released just a few days ago.

In comparison, B1A4’s video for “Only Learned the Bad Things” will be a cute love story, a concept quite befitting for the boys who have garnered so much attention for their pretty looks. The music video is said to feature a “B” blood-type male, stereotypically believed to be passionate and irresponsible.

“Match Up” will be following the groups through their daily activities to show fans and viewers all the members’ personalities. The first episode airs June 22nd at 11PM KST, followed by the release of their two new music videos at midnight. Make sure you don’t miss out!

Korea’s hottest rookie groups, Block B and B1A4, will be holding a battle of charms on MTV’s newest reality show, “Match Up“!

Starting June 22nd, the program will hand a theme to both groups and follow the boys as they endeavor to show their unique individual colors and musical styles.

Block B, who were produced by Cho PD, are well-known for being talented in composing, writing, and producing. They’re characterized by their free spirit and honest personalities. Meanwhile, B1A4 is a group that first headlined for their pretty boy looks. Don’t let their faces fool you, though, for their writing, composing, and performing skills are as strong as Block B’s.

The program will run for a total of eight episodes, and fans will get to see the set of their new music videos as well as music program schedules. Aside from documenting their working lives, the show will follow their day-to-day lifestyle as they complete a variety of different missions.
