On January 26th, IU guested on a live Japanese TV talk show, where she introduced herself to the public and shared some behind-the-scenes stories from her showcase.
IU began, “I was nervous after hearing that we will be starting a showcase in Japan, but I was relieved after a lot of fans showed [up]… I was actually worried for the 3-high-note part because I was in such a bad condition that day, but I felt great after seeing all the fans.”
On the 24th, IU opened two showcases at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo and pulled off the 3-high-note boosts from “Good Day” perfectly.
Commenting on her ability to hit high notes, IU said, “I’m actually not that good with high notes. I was never confident with hitting the high notes [to begin with], but I was able to do so with the help of songwriters.” She joked, “I’ve always worked hard on singing, since I’m not good at dancing.
She then added an afterthought, “But in truth, my dancing isn’t that bad,” causing laughter to erupt on the set.

28 December:

2011 definitely seems to be IU‘s year.
According to a recent research, IU’s song “You & I” was #1 on the Melon music chart for four consecutive weeks or 28 days.
Before IU released her album, Leessang‘s “Turned Off the TV held first place with 25 consecutive days in the #1 spot.
Both in 2010 and throughout this past year, IU recorded #1 songs for all her other title tracks, which include “Good Day“, “Story Only I Didn’t Know“, “Someday“, “Hold My Hand“, “Frozen Flower“, and “You & I”.
IU took the year-end #1 K-Chart at Music Bank’s‘ ‘2011 Annual Year End Show‘ on December 23rd for “Good Day”.  It looks like “You & I” is proving to be just as popular.
Her company LOEN Entertainment said, “We truly thank the love and support IU has received this year. We will work our best to show good music. Please keep showing us your love.”

27 December:

IU is one of the most-wanted guests for year-end concerts this year, but many are starting to wonder why this highly-successful artist isn’t holding a concert of her own.
IU has never hosted a solo concert, even though it’s been three years since her debut. Her achievements and large fanbase could easily allow her to organize one, but IU has decided to take it slow.
A related representative informed OSEN on December 27th that “IU thinks it’s not time yet. She would like to show a concert more complete than the one she would show now. Her schedule is packed with album promotions for ‘Last Fantasy‘ as well as preparations for next year’s Japanese debut. If she were to have a solo concert, it would be sometime next year.”
One thing’s for sure — when IU does decide to announce a solo concert, tickets will sell out like hotcakes.

Singer IU, who just recently came out with her 2nd full-length album, “Last Fantasy”, revealed that she was considering to finally jump on the bandwagon and join Twitter in order to communicate with her fans.

Social networking sites like Twitter and me2day are considered popular mediums for celebrities to communicate on a daily basis with each other and their fans. Last July, the surfacing of a fake IU Twitter account led to IU coming forth to publicly confirm that she “does not use Twitter”.
Instead, IU communicates with her fans through her official fan cafe, which is directly managed by her agency, LOEN Entertainment. It is here where she posts updates about album promotions as well as personal photos and selcas. After her falling when she went to collect her ‘Best Song Award‘ at the’2011 Melon Music Awards’ last week, IU had even submitted a cute post on her fan cafe saying,“The fall was a performance.”
IU’s reason for considering the use of Twitter is because of her upcoming busy schedules for her Japanese advancement. IU’s “Best Album” is slated for release in Japan this coming December 14th, which will be followed up by her first Japanese showcase in January and other various Japanese schedules.
During her upcoming rigorous schedule that is mainly based in Japan, IU feels that the most convenient medium of communication will indeed be Twitter. “Using her official fan cafe for communication is good, but she feels that Twitter will be the most efficient way to interact with not only her fans in Korea, but also her international fans.”
In related news, IU’s newest album has already been topping charts two days into the release, ranking #1 on numerous music sites such as Melon, Bugs, and Mnet.
IU is set to perform her first officlal comeback stage this coming December 2nd through KBS 2TV‘s“Music Bank” with her title track, “You and I“.

28 September:
2011 has been a year full of newly debuting Kpop artists. There is one 19 year old, however, who boldly made her independent mark in the Kpop world. Her name? IU.

Not only is she adored by all Korean males, but IU has an even larger fan base- she is loved by older girls and women as well. With her amazing talent combined with her cute image, how could you not adore her?
Recently, IU postponed her plans to attend college, turning down numerous colleges who were all willing to allow her to attend without the need of taking any entrance exams.
Her management reported on the 22nd, “She has decided to postpone her plans to attend school for the time being. With her busy schedule, it would become nearly impossible for her to attend class regularly.”
I want to go to school when the timing is right. It would be too hard to do that right now,” IU stated. It’s not that she doesn’t want to study, but because she feels she wouldn’t be able to give her studies her undivided attention.
It is true that numerous colleges have acknowledged talented celebrities, whether it be singing or acting and publicly offered special admission into the school, as it would also effectively advertise the school as well. Few celebs have used being busy as an excuse, but with IU stating that she wouldn’t be able to give her 100% to her studies as a reason for her turning down the offer proves that for a 19 year old lady, she’s pretty mature.
September 18th was IU’s third anniversary since her debut, and her fans thoughtfully put up posters in the subway stations to celebrate. IU’s management stated through their official Twitter, “Thank you to all of IU’s fans that celebrated her debut anniversary with this advertisement poster! You guys are the best; Let’s keep going until her 100th!”
IU even went to the subway and took a photo in front of the ad, thanking her many fans who took the time out to do this for her.
There’s a phrase in Korean that says, “You come see me, and I’ll pay for your cab back home.” IU decided that fans who come out to see her shouldn’t have to pay for their own ride back home, and so she went out to buy a prepaid transportation card for a lucky fan.
Not only that, she took the time out of her busy schedule to handwrite 50 letters to her fans and personally kissed each letter after applying dark red lipstick.
By no means is IU a newcomer to the Kpop scene, and its refreshing to see that she very much still cares about her fans, and by IU postponing college until she’s completely ready shows how responsible she is.
Its no wonder she has such a broad range of fans. Her thoughtful personality and mature common sense only add to her appeal.
IU’s new album will be released next month!

7 July:
The ‘nation’s little sister’ is gaining oodles of popularity for her vibrant, fresh image as well as for her charming personality. However, with fame comes misfortune, and so IU has been recently getting some flak and anti-fans for her numerous appearances on almost every variety show on the market.

In response to this, LOEN Entertainment issued a statement that the young star will be cutting down on her variety roles to focus on her singing instead.
“Apart from SBS’s ‘Kiss and Cry‘ and ‘Inkigayo‘, we have no set schedule for variety show appearances in the future,” said a representative for LOEN. “We’re getting many offers for dramas and movies, but we have turned them all down.”
IU will instead be putting all of her energy into her new album. “The reason why IU was able to receive so much love was because of her singing. Therefore, our strategy is to be true to her roots as a singer, and then focus on acting or MCing,” said LOEN.
