Online music portal, Monkey3, conducted a poll with the question, ‘2011′s most active singer of the year‘ from December 8th to the 14th, and IU won the poll with 29% of the votes.
In 2011, IU has been busy promoting for “Good Day“, “The Story Only I Didn’t Know“, her OST for ‘Dream High‘, “Someday“, “Hold My Head“, the OST for ‘The Greatest Love‘, and the title song for SBS’s ‘Kiss and Cry‘, “Ice Flower“, spreading the IU fever as her songs dominated the music charts. In addition, her recent song, “You & I“, has been receiving much popularity and become a hot trend in the music industry.
Following IU on the poll was B2ST with their hit songs, “On Rainy Days” and “Fiction“, as they won 19% of the votes. Big Bang (15%), Leessang (14%), T-ara (13%) and 2NE1 (11%) rounded out the results.

With the year coming to an end, many are left wondering: which artists and songs seized the music market in 2011?
Music site Monkey3 has released their Top 40 rankings for 2011, which were compiled by combining the Top 50 weekly charts from January 1st to November 30th, as well as statistics from music streams and downloads. The results showed that this year, T-ara‘s ‘Roly-Poly‘ received the most love.
2011 demonstrated that the power of girl groups was as strong as ever, but there were a few surprising entries from songs performed on survival audition programs like Mnet‘s ‘Superstar K3‘ and MBC‘s ‘I Am a Singer‘.

SNSD was recently named as the girl group that grabs the most attention when seen on TV.
A Monkey3 survey was held from November 24th to the 30th, asking the question, “Which group catches your eye when appearing on TV?” According to the votes, SNSD ranked first with 182 (or 55%) of the 328 votes cast.
Participants stated, “My eyes focus on their dance and song“, and “All 9 members each possess different looks and special individual traits, which makes them stand out.”
The Wonder Girls came in second with 51 votes (16%), followed up by T-ara in third with 13%, and Brown Eyed Girls in fourth with 9%. Both SECRET and KARA tied in fifth with 4%.
25 November:
Music website ‘Monkey 3‘ kicked off the poll on November 17th, and drew 6,100 votes. It was close battle between Jaejoong and Lee Seung Gi, but the idol took first place with 64% (or 3,882 votes).
Fans who cast a ballot in his favor explained, “I would want Jaejoong to hold my hands in his coat pocket” and “He’s a romantic-looking guy, perfect for a romantic date”.
Meanwhile, Lee Seung Gi — who’s been gaining a lot of popularity from shows likes ‘Strong Heart‘ and ‘1N2D‘ — took 33% (2,016 votes). Next on the list were Song Joong Ki, Jung Il Woo, Kim Soo Hyun, and Lee Min Ho.
10 November:
Music site Monkey 3 ran a poll from November 3rd to the 9th asking voters, “[Who is] the male star you would like to have a Pepero kiss with.” John Park received 50% of the votes (245 nominations), ranking first for the poll. Voters who went with John left comments like, “He seems like he’d be unexpectedly aggressive” and “I feel happy just thinking about it.”
Jung Il Woo, who plays ‘Cha Chisoo’ in ‘Flower Boy Ramen Shop‘, came in 2nd with 18% of the votes, Yoo Ah In was 3rd with 14%, Lee Min Ki was 4th with 8%, and Busker Busker membersJang Bum Jun received 5th place while Ji Hyun Woo was 6th.
Visitors on the site commented, “It’s all just for fun, but my imagination went on a rampage,” and “Now that I look at it, all the contestants have great lips.”

Following behind were Song Joong Ki and Jang Geun Suk who received 16% and 12% of the total votes, respectively.
Netizens left varying comments like, “Yoo Seung Ho is a living statue“, “The others are no push overs either“, “Why is there a big gap between Yoo Seung Ho and So Ji Sub?” and “I wonder who would win in a ‘Best Female Star Graduation Photo’ poll“.

Kim Hyun Joong obtained 1st place by a huge margin, receiving 47% of the total votes. Following behind were Jo Kwon with 16%, Seungri with 14%, Kikwang with 9%, Woohyun with 8%, and Taecyeon with 5% of the votes.
Netizens who selected Kim Hyun Joong commented, “If he had the skills to make 100,000,000 Won (~$90,000 USD) by just simply working part time before he actually debuted, he will probably be able to bring in a lot of profit for his company,” and “He has strong leadership and a good sense of responsibility so he will probably be able to lead the company well.”

Lee Seung Gi‘s new single “Alone in Love“ reached #1 on monkey3‘s music chart as soon as the track was released on the 14th. Coming in at #2 was Kim Hyun Joong‘s “Lucky Guy“, followed byTablo‘s new single “Airbag” at #3.
Not too far behind these three were Orange Caramel with “Shanghai Romance” and “Open Arms” by SuperStarK3‘s Ooh La La Session. Jung Yeob‘s “Nuna” also ranked high on the chart.
A representative from monkey3 stated, “These are songs that fans have requested through SNS, and Lee Seung Gi’s “Alone in Love” seized the #1 spot as soon as the single was released… The male soloists Lee Seung Gi, Tablo, and Kim Hyun Joong are quite popular amongst the fans and it will be interesting to see how things pan out from here.”

Yoochun won 46% of the total 3730 votes, seizing the #1 spot. The reasons? Fans remarked that it was due to his “Extremely Sensuous, Ardent, & Sentimental” personality.
Following Yoochun, singer / actor Rain earned 37% of the votes coming in at second place, followed by John Park of ‘SuperstarK2“, who earned 13% of the votes.
30 September:
Music specialist site Monkey 3 held a poll from September 22nd to the 28th with the question, “What star would you like to be with on a sleepless autumn night?“. Doojoon won 1st, followed by Ji Sungand Gong Yoo, respectively.
Yoon Doojoon placed 1st with 131 votes, 29% of the overall votes. The reasoning behind his popularity was found in the netizens’ reactions, which varied from, “Of course, because he’s the boyfriend idol” to “I want to be link our arms together affectionately~ He’s the perfect date for an autumn stroll.”
Ji Sung, who stars in SBS‘s ‘Protect the Boss‘, won 2nd with 18% of the votes, while Gong Yoo, who’s gaining much popularity with his movie ‘Crucible‘, won 3rd with 15% of the votes.
Following these top three names were ballad singer Sung Shi Kyung, YG Entertainment traineeKang Seung Yoon (currently starring in ‘High Kick 3‘) and Jay Park, who will appear in the movie ‘Mr. Idol‘.

From September 8th until the 14th, online portal website Monkey3 held a poll asking for the “Top male celebrity for the Fall season”. The results from a total of 8,180 participants voted Kim Hyun Joong in first place with a total of 46% (3,781) of the votes, revealing the public’s overwhelming support for the idol.
Following closely in second is well known MC, Lee Seung Gi, garnering 44% (~3599) of the votes. Following the top two were Won Bin, Big Bang‘s TOP, So Ji Sub, and Jang Geun Suk ranking from 3rd-6th place respectively.
Netizens revealed their approval of the results by posting comments such as, “So Ji Sub was defeated by none other than Kim Hyun Joong!” and “There’s nothing that can compare to Kim Hyun Joong’s eyes.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong has been busy with his endorsement for Japanese brand ‘HEATFACT‘, and revealed his commercial film earlier today.
10 September:
Music Site, Monkey3 started a survey on September 1st that ran until the 7th asking, “Who would be the best bride to make your parents happy on Chuseok?” It was no contest for the actress as she dominated the survey with an incredible score of 32% (202 of 625 votes), nearly double that of the second place actress.
Those who chose her as the best bride commented, “She would be the best Chuseok bride without question” and ” If I married her, I would treat her like a princess till the day I die“.
Park Min Young took 2nd place with 17% of the votes. Other celebrities like Shin Se Kyung, Park Jung Hyun, Kara‘s Goo Hara, and Song Hye Kyo followed respectively.

Music website monkey3 recently held a poll from July 14th to the 20th with the question, “Which star would you most want to go on a summer vacation with?“. Out of 20,303 votes form the participants, it was revealed that the #1 guy was none other than JYJ’s sweet guy, Park Yoochun.
Park Yoochun, who recently had flaunted his acting skills in the drama, MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley‘, received 10,535 (52%) votes placing him on top.
Netizens who voted for Park Yoochun for various reasons commented, “I think anywhere would be a paradise spot with Yoochun” and “I think he will generously take care of me“.
SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong, who recently succeeded in his solo comeback, followed Park Yoonchun and placed second place with 9,194 votes.

Coming in at first place is none other than the nation’s little sister, IU! Her comeback track, “Good Day“, had topped Monkey3 for five weeks in a row when it first came out, so the results really aren’t that surprising. Not only that, but IU is also the only singer to have three songs in the top 30. “The Story Only I Didn’t Know” and her “Dream High” OST track, “Someday“, placed 10th and 18th respectively.
