Asia’s hottest idol group Super Junior set a new record, becoming the top artist to sell the most albums over the past 3 years.The ‘2011 Singer Awards‘ reflects the artists that sold the most albums according to sales data from Hanteo, and Super Junior sold 355,900 albums between January 1st, 2011 and December 27th, 2011.Super Junior’s cumulative album sales (of all 32 singles and albums they’ve released to date) for 2011 amounted to 350,000 units. This was the highest number of sales since the ‘Singer Awards’ were established back in 2009. The SBS hit drama "Athena: Goddess of War" will be making its debut on Japanese television later this month on November 30th. More and more photos from Super Junior’s personal breaks are being released via Twitter! For the past few days, some members of Super Junior were updating their fans on their personal vacation abroad. Earlier today, Leeteuk uploaded photos of him and Donghae, as well as his impressions on skin scuba diving.
Leeteuk posted an update saying, “Time for discovering nature’s mystery and greatness..I definitely want to do it again next time, the most memorable among the rest is skin-scuba diving^^”. He also published two photos of his scenic shots underwater.
Meanwhile, in a separate update, Leeteuk also unveiled photos of him and Donghae performing comical jump shots while in the pool.
After finishing a successful show at “SMTOWN LIVE in NEW YORK,” Super Junior updated their fans on their own sets of vacation through social networking sites such as Twitter.

After ending the group’s promotions for “Mr. Simple” and “A-Cha,” as well as putting on a successful show in New York City for SMTOWN Live in NYC, members of Super Junior were given some time off to relax before getting ready for their upcoming tour,Super Show 4, that is set to begin in Seoul on November 19th and 20th. Most of the members took advantage of this time and traveled out of the country. The members happily shared their adventures with their fans.
Leeteuk and Donghae were revealed to have traveled to Saipan, a small island located in the Western Pacific Ocean, via a stopover in Japan. Photos of the two having fun on the beach were revealed, and it was believed that Donghae’s mother also went on the trip. They ended the trip after only three days and were then spotted back in the Incheon International Airport in Korea.
Eunhyuk has been active on Twitter ever since he and his family traveled to Europe. His first stop was Prague (Czech Republic), and then he continued his “Anchovy World Tour” in Vienna (Austria), Dresden (Germany), and London (England). At the last stop of his vacation, he was able to attend a soccer game between Arsenal and Chelsea. Many fans were able to meet with him and his family, and those fans noted that Eunhyuk was very friendly the entire time, taking photos with them and even inviting them to dinner on some occasions.
Another member who is in Europe is Kyuhyun. His whereabouts was revealed when he tweeted that he was threatened by someone carrying a knife while walking to his hotel immediately after landing in Spain. Fortunately, Kyuhyun was able to get away unharmed and continued his vacation by himself. Just like Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun also attended a soccer game – a home game for FC Barcelona.
Yesung revealed via his twitter that he would be fully concentrated on preparing for Super Show 4 immediately after the end of SMTOWN Live in NYC, and thus it is believed that he did not travel anywhere during this period. The same belief applies to Shindong, who tweeted a picture of himself with his face bandaged up. In response to this picture, netizens commented, “Is Shindong taking advantage of this vacation and getting procedures done on his skin?” and “Everyone is in Europe…but Shindong went to Egypt?”
The whereabouts of Sungmin and Ryeowook are unknown. Netizens speculate that Sungmin is currently in Japan based on a sighting; however, as there have not been any pictures of him in Japan, fans are reluctant to conclude that Sungmin is indeed in Japan. SM Entertainment has revealed that the members of Super Junior will not be accompanying fellow member Heechul’s enlistment at the Nonsan training camp on September 1st.
According to SM, the members will say their farewells to him at the dorm before his leave. Considering that other singers usually accompany their members to the site, this piece of information comes as a surprise to fans.
As it turns out, Heechul specifically made the request himself. Super Junior will continue to promote their music as an 8-membered group.
Following fellow member Kang In, Super Junior’s Kim Heechul has decided to enlist into the Korean military. He will be leaving for basic training at a camp in Choonam Nonsan for four weeks, starting on September 1st. Afterwards, he will embark on his official military duties for 23 months.
Super Junior put on their last “Mr. Simple” performance with Heechul on SBS’s ’Inkigayo‘, and they took home the ‘Mutizen’ award for that week. At the beginning of June, it was confirmed by the leader of Super Junior that the group had begun recording for their 5th album and are gearing up for their big comeback. Last year, Super Junior released their 4th album "BONAMANA," which was a big hit.
On July 15th, SM Entertainment choreographer and Blackbeat member Shim Jaewon tweeted photos of the possible formation of Super Junior's upcoming title song. The photos did not reveal much except for legs and their possible formation.
He wrote, "Forever our juniors, Super Junior!! Brainstorming the choreography... With @hydrayuge I want a go home....." and "We are Super Junior~ Oh-eh-yo! hu hu hu hu wait for all of us..."
Choreographer Rino Nakasone, known for her many choreographed hits for SM groups such as SNSD, SHINee, TVXQ, and BoA, tweeted to Jaewon and Gregory Hwang, "Oh man, ya good luck with that formation........." to which Jaewon replied, "Rino u right... Hwang is stupid... Hahahaha." and Gregory Hwang said, "We're almost dying ........ :("
A possible and unconfirmed comeback schedule for Super Junior has also been uncovered by fans. According to the schedule, Super Junior will begin filming for their comeback music video on July 20th and the teaser will be released on July 27th. The title song is set for released on August 1st and will be followed by the album's release on August 3rd. Then, they will have their first comeback stage on KBS's Music Bank on August 5th. In addition, the album may have a possible release of three different versions: Version A (Regular), Version B (Repackaged w/ 2 new songs), and Version C (CD+DVD).
