Singer Hwayobi made a shocking confession about how she suffered from depression following an operation on her vocal chords.

On July 12th, she revealed through MBN’s ‘Live Today‘ that, “I had both depression and bulimia. After scooping rice as big as the Namsan Mountain, I only ate plain rice. [Depression is] a moment when you fall into hell. I was sad, and then next day I was even sadder. The experience was even terrible enough to make me not want to continue living.”

Fortunately, Hwayobi was able to successfully combat her depression. She explained, “Because of my faith, I was able to defeat it. If other people [have depression] like me, even if it’s not through faith, get help to defeat depression because it is then easier and quicker to overcome.”

Hwayobi’s latest fashion choice recently caught the eyes of many netizens.

On the July 2nd broadcast of MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core‘, Hwayobi wore a nude-toned dress that was accessorized with a dramatic waist belt. The singer also wore another waist belt on the July 8th broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank‘, drawing attention from many fans for her ‘waist fashion.’

Hwayobi -who recently released a new mini-album titled ‘Reborn‘- also personally styled the jacket photos of her latest album. It’s being reported that she also directly oversees the wardrobe choices for her stage performances.

Responding to her fetish for waist belts, fans commented, “The [fashion] idea is really fresh”, “You seem to have an interest in being a stylist”, and “[The fashion] matches well with this last album.”

Singer Hwayobi has just released the music video for her new title track, “I’m OK“, and has already been catching the attention of netizens with her sexy attire and dance skills.

Throughout her many wardrobe changes in the three minute video, the outfit most noted is the see-through black swimsuit look that emphasizes the singer’s figure. Netizens are commenting that the outfit, lyrics, and powerful dancing have created a new ‘Femme Fatale’ image for Hwayobi. Many comments were left complimenting the singer, saying that they, “Didn’t know Hwayobi was such a good dancer.”

Hwayobi released her mini-album, entitled “Hwayobi Reborn“, on June 30th, and will be making her comeback to music programs this week. She has stated that this album is especially meaningful because she personally took part in the writing and production of many of the songs, including the title track, “I’m OK.” The new electronic-pop track strays away from her usual slow-tempo beats, but adequately showcases Hwayobi’s unique and melodic voice nonetheless.
