On August 20th, MBLAQ kicked off their first ever concert, ‘MEN IN MBLAQ’, to the cheers of 7,000 fans and their one and only mentor, Rain.
Despite being in the midst of preparations for his movie and his own nationwide tour, Rain made sure to take time away from his busy schedule to attend MBLAQ’s concert. When asked how he felt, he replied, “I’m nervous for them, but I feel great.”
Rain was reported to have sat in the audience and monitored the boys, making comments to staff like,“The piano sounds a bit quiet”, when Seungho was playing the piano; “He raised the atmosphere well”, when Mir was DJing; and “Isn’t the dance a bit difficult?” when the members were teaching the audience the steps to their dance.
Unlike other idol concerts, MBLAQ cut down on the commenting and video displays by instead opting to perform as much of their album’s songs as possible. G.O. performed his ballad, “Even In My Dreams“, while Seungho showed off his amazing piano skills. Mir transformed into a DJ to amplify the atmosphere while Lee Joon performed a sexy dance with a female dancer.
The crowd cheered the boys on for the entire two hours. One Japanese fan named Yukari said, “I know that MBLAQ placed first on the Oricon chart with their Japanese debut single, ‘Your Luv‘. They’re definitely a charming group. I love G.O.’s smooth voice and Thunder’s baby smile.”
At the end of the concert, Rain commented, “The boys pulled off the concert as much as they’ve been preparing.”
MBLAQ will be heading overseas for their Asian tour after their Seoul concert.
12 July:
Idol group MBLAQ recently snapped a photo with their mentor, Rain, and expressed their gratitude for all his efforts.
On July 13th, the idol group tweeted, “Hyung! Thank you again today,” and attached a picture they snapped with the ‘world star’ singer.
It seems like the shot was taken during a rehearsal session.
The boys surround their teacher, who rocks a hat saying ‘Bi-neunim‘, a phrase that combines ’Bi’ (or ‘Rain’) with ‘Haneunim’ (the word for God in Korean).
Fans said, “Bi-neunim seems like an idol“, “You all look like on group“, and “This is a good picture“.
Solo artist Rain recently posted a picture and message on his Twitter account to support MBLAQ for their recent comeback with “Mona Lisa”.Shortly before the official release of “Mona Lisa” he wrote, “Five eagle brothers take off! In a few minutes, MBLAQ’s new album will be released!”
In the picture that was attached to the tweet, he is seen posing comically with his arms raised along with a cheeky gaze. He even put up a caption that said, “Hoodlums on the street where they’re practicing.”
Netizens stated, “The pose is overwhelming,” “A picture he took while practicing choreography. Looks like a model when taking any picture,” and, “What could I do to meet him on the streets?”
This update is sure to make MBLAQ fans even more excited for their comeback stage!
8 Februari:
MBLAQ will release a repackaged album at the end of February, but it will be missing a key ingredient.
MBLAQ (G.O, Thunder, Lee Joon, Seung Ho, Mir) is currently storming through music programs and variety shows with their first official album title song, ‘Stay‘, and instead of releasing a follow-up song, they will release a repackaged album.
However, MBLAQ’s mentor, Rain (Jung Ji Hoon), will not be involved in producing the repackaged album. MBLAQ management agency spoke to Newsen on February 7th on the phone, and said, “Rain will not be part of the production. Instead, MBLAQ members will be more involved.”
This is a surprise because Rain had written ‘My Dear‘ for MBLAQ’s first album, which was released last January, and he had also presented the group with dance choreography for ‘Cry‘ and ‘Stay.’
Rain has recently re-joined with his mentor Park Jin Young and became the biggest shareholder of J.Tune Entertainment. Rain said he wants focus on working as a singer and actor before enlisting in the army, so he has asked JYP Entertainment to watch out for J.Tune Entertainment during his absence.
Thus it has become clear that Rain and MBLAQ are not under the same management. Rain’s J.Tune Entertainment will merge with JYP Entertainment, while MBLAQ will remain under the J.Tune Camp.
Currently, Rain is busy filming a new movie, and it is yet unclear if Rain will help MBLAQ’s choreography for the album.
