IU has become the new model for a line of smart phone cases by Seoul Visual Works, titled “Visual Art Case – IU Series“!
The cases will be sold through shopping mall iCaseBook. This company has been releasing cases that carry the works of famous illustrators, but this is the first time a real human model is being used for the cases. There are four designs featuring IU in a variety of poses for both the iPhone and the Galaxy.
The makers said, “With her cute image and amazing vocals, IU became the ‘nation’s little sister’. We thought we could shake the feelings of oppa and uncle fans with her image. Along with the release of the cases, we will hold many events until July 20th. Uploaded onto her me2day on June 21st, IU also wrote: “Kiss & Cry’s first elimination stresses the importance of our performance today. There’s a chance this could be my last… I had fun practicing. I will strive to do my best. IU and In Hwa, fighting!”
The young star certainly has reason to feel nervous, since she placed 9th out of 10 places in the first found, and is teetering on the edge of elimination. IU earned the nickname “Trendy IU” after her duet song, “Nagging” with Seulong went viral in 2010 and subsequently attracted greater attention with her excellent musical abilities such as singing and composing lyrics and her cute demeanor.

On June 18th, IU opened her fan meeting “It’s a ‘Good Day’ with IU” at the AX Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. IU confessed,
“Because it is my first time meeting my fans upclose, it is true that I am worrying… When they first started talking about a fan meeting at work, I got really worried. The reason is that in a short time I have to show a different side of me. I heard there were 1090 seats of totally my fans, my side, I’m nervous and happy because it is my first time being with [only] people who like me.“
When IU was asked with regards to it being her 1,004th day, she said,
“I don’t know what to say… There were hard times and there were happy times. Overall it was quite comfortable and I’m glad that I spent the last 1,004 days without any big complications.“

IU will hold her fan meet with about 1,000 fans at the AX-Korea in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul.

To recap, IU sang Toy’s ‘Good Person‘ on June 4th’s broadcast, showing off her impressive vocals. However, she unexpectedly placed last after facing stiff competition from the other cast members.
As the rumors began to gain momentum, Loen Entertainment decided to clarify why IU would not be appearing in future episodes.
On June 6th, a representative stated, “‘Resignation’ does not seem to be the right word. IU agreed to make a guest appearance for a single episode from the start. It has nothing to do with her rank. Because she decided to appear as a guest, she can make another appearance in the program later on.”
IU is currently very busy MCing for SBS’s “Inkigayo“, and she’s also participating on “Kim Yuna’s Kiss & Cry” as well. It’s being reported that IU flew to Japan to film a different program on June 6th.

Netizens are buzzing over a picture of IU that was uploaded onto the website of a facial plastic surgery clinic.
Noting that the clinic specializes in jaw surgery, netizens wondered whether the picture was taken after she had undergone surgery herself. After all, it’s normal for celebrities to pose for a picture with doctors if they get sponsorships from their clinics.
The speculation led Loen Entertainment to clarify the matter through TV Daily on May 20th. They stated, “Rumors of her getting jaw surgery are completely unfounded. On May 16th, singer IU celebrated her 18th (19th in Korea) birthday.
The idol updated her me2day account, saying, “Tadaa! I really wore this when I went to film today.” In the attached picture, IU took a proof shot of the t-shirt she received as a gift from fans. This gift was especially special to her because it was directly handmade by a fan.
With a big smile on her face, IU showed her approval of the gift.

10 Mei:On May 9th, the organizing committee of the ‘Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea‘ officially appointed singer IU as its honorary ambassador.
To commemorate the event, they have released the theme song sung by IU for this year’s Expo, “Memories of the Sea“. Since the Expo is an international affair that attracts tourists from around the world, IU delivered both a Korean and English version of the song.
“Memories of the Sea” was composed by Yoon Sang and lyrics were contributed by Park Chang Hak.

6 April:On April 6th, reports revealed that IU had brought in $6 million USD in digital sales revenue for just the first quarter of 2011 alone, the highest amongst other Korean singers.
Starting in December with “Good Day“, she propelled her popularity into 2011 and made consecutive hits with “The Story Only I Didn’t Know“, “Cruel Fairy Tale“, and Dream High’s OST “Someday“.

Singer IU held an autograph event on March 24th, and the overwhelming response from her fans ultimately paralyzed the mall!
The event was for Le Coq Sportif, and IU was scheduled to sign on the first floor of the Hyundai Mall. Officials anticipated that IU would attract a large crowd, so they organized a lottery where 100 lucky fans would get to attend the event.
As it turns out, 1,000 fans gathered at the mall three hours before the fansigning began, which resulted in blocking out regular traffic and business for the shops there. Reporters noted that IU’s fanbase was overwhelmingly male, and that men of all ages stood in line with a present in hand for their idol.
An official from Le Coq Sportif stated that they had received a flood of requests from broadcast teams and fans alike for passes to the event after it was announced on the internet.

After releasing the music video for her title track, “The Story Only I Didn’t Know,” earlier today, IU has become swept up in a minor controversy over the music video’s content.
The MV begins with actress Park Bo Young conversing with an anonymous figure in a psychiatric hospital. She states, “My body feels weird lately. It doesn’t feel like my body. Isn’t the weather really weird today? On days like this, I feel like someone might come to find me.”
Yoonsang then appears, and Park Bo Young demonstrates the depth of their relationship by kneeling before him and crying.
The anonymous figure then re-appears and asks, “Your father passed away, right?” Park Bo Young replies, “They all say that he’s my father, but he’s not.”

After teasing us with snippets from the MV, the official music video for IU’s “The Story Only I Didn’t Know” was finally revealed.
Marking a 180 degree change from her song, “Good Day“, the singer’s newest title song tells the sad break-up story of a mysterious girl, played by actress Park Bo Young. IU also makes her appearance in the music video, portraying the conscious of the girl.
Having been composed by the famous singer, Yoon Sang, the song captures the nostalgia a girl feels for her ex-lover. Yoon Sang also participated in the music video as well, acting as the girl’s ex-lover who fleets between the girl’s fantasy and reality.
“The Story Only I Didn’t Know” shows off IU’s mature vocal skills and incorporates the sounds of piano and stringed instruments. Especially notable for its sentimental lyrics, the sad love song marks IU’s transition from a girl to a lady.

Her management company said that they were “willing to consider a Japanese debut, but we’re in no hurry as we’d like to solidify our domestic position first.”
Perhaps after “Dream High” ends and she wraps up promotions for her repackaged album, “Real+“, IU will be in a better position to scope out a possible debut in the rapidly filling Japanese market.

10 Februari: IU was forced to cut short her “Good Day” promotions due to an overwhelming schedule, but she promised her disappointed fans that she would make a worthy comeback.
It’s just been revealed that the singer will officially return with follow-up promotions through the release of her third mini-plus album, “REAL+“!
Rumored to have been a re-packaged album, it’s clear that IU sought to make up for the interrupted promotions by dropping a ‘mini-plus’ album instead. “REAL+” will feature three new songs, as well as her promotion track, “Story I Didn’t Know“, a ballad track by Yoon Sang.
Her representatives continued, “This album will be continuing IU’s musical direction, but with an added spectrum. Fans will be able to hear an analog style and an overall deeper musical quality.”
Pre-orders for the album will begin on February 10th.

Going back to IU, the young star revealed that she was delighted to perform for the British musician, simply because Corinne Bailey Rae is her personal role model. “As a dedicated fan, I am very excited to be on the same stage with her,” said IU. “It is an honor.”
The two previously met at the Jisan Rock Festival, which IU attended for a recording of “Infinity Challenge“. At the festival, the two exchanged greetings, which eventually lead to Corinne Bailey Rae inviting IU to be a special guest in her upcoming concert.
Corinne heard IU sing and complimented her with,“She is young but the soul in her singing voice is outstanding.”
The concert will be held at AX Korea on March 10th.

A picture has been floating around internet from KBS’s “Teen Concert“, and IU is seen looking more a mature student with this clean hairstyle. It’s said that she colored her hair especially for the back-to-school season.

“IU will be releasing her follow-up song, ‘The Story Only I Didn’t Know’, this coming February 17th,” LOEN Entertainment told TV Report. “We are currently discussing whether to release it as a repackage album of her 3rd mini-album, “Real“, or just as a digital single.”
