10 November:

KBS 2TV weekend variety show, ‘Happy Sunday - 1N2D‘, is slowly preparing to film its final episodes.
PD Na Young Suk recently met with OSEN and remarked, “There are a lot of events and award ceremonies at the end of the year, and so it will be hard to coordinate a time for all the members to film together… I think we will film about six more times, and that’s it. It feels strange.”
The PD was explaining that in order to broadcast the program until their promised date of February 2012, the crew will only need to film about six more times.
The show aired its first episode in the summer of 2007. Four years later, it’s garnered a strong following that allowed it to become the nation’s most beloved variety program. The decision to end ’1N2D’ was made long before MC Kang Ho Dong‘s tax evasion scandal broke out, and so it’s with regret that the PD and crew will be closing the program with only five cast members, instead of the original six.
Even now, the ’1N2D’ staff is busily researching information on new vacation spots to film at. They’re working hard at creating new ideas to make the program even more entertaining in order to make these final recordings as memorable as possible.
The five members will continue to go on their vacations in the remaining episodes, but I still want to do something big before we close out the program altogether,” PD Na remarked.

4 October:

On the most recent episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘1N2D (1 Night 2 Days)‘, there was a scene in which Lee Seung Gi is eating at a restaurant, when someone suddenly calls his name.
Seung Gi turned around and upon realizing who he was, was extremely glad to see him. It was a man who helped out both Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi in a past episode.
In order to tell the back story, scenes from the past episode were also played back, where Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi were seen starving all day when the kind man offers his generosity.
The clip was only 30 seconds long, but it was enough to make viewers miss the legendary MC.
Viewers reacted to the clip with comments like, “Miss him already“, “He is a mere memory now“, and “It was good to see him, even in that short clip“.

2 October:
Lee Seung Gi showed off his new atom-style hair that’s been gaining quite an amount of attention.

On the episode of 1 Night 2 Days that aired on the 2nd, the members went on a five-day nation trip to greet the fall.
During the opening, Lee Seung Gi showed up with a middle part, explaining that he didn’t get his hair done prior to filming the show. Lee Soo Geun joked that he had Jang Gook Young‘s hairstyle.
After coming back from a mission, Eun Ji Won said to Lee Seung Gi, “How is your hair the way it was in the morning?” Lee Seung Gi carried a worried face and replied, “Is it that weird?”
He continued, “I had no time to get my hair done so I did it myself. I feel unsure about it if you think it’s weird.” With that said, Lee Seung Gi set out to wash his hair.
Eun Ji Won then turned into Lee Seung Gi’s hairstylist and transformed Lee Seung Gi’s hair stand upright, which made him look like the animation character Atom.
Lee Seung Gi was quite shocked and said, “This is the weirdest hairstyle I have ever seen.”

Happy Sunday: 1 Night 2 Days”, proved its popularity without Kang Ho Dong.
According to AGB Neilson Media Research‘s viewer rating system on October 3rd, October 2nd’s episode of KBS’ “Happy Sunday” received a nationwide 17.4% viewer ratingkeeping its 1st place position. Although the rating dropped a mere 0.3% compared to the past week’s episode, the rating is remarkable considering the many concerns for the show without the presence of Kang Ho Dong.
The main attraction point of this episode was how the members of “1 Night 2 Days” would do without Kang Ho Dong, but the viewers’ comments on “Happy Sunday”‘s forum dealt with more of hopeful comments of how well the members performed without Kang Ho Dong, rather than how the presence of Kang Ho Dong is missed.
On the other hand, SBS’s “Good Sunday Part 1: Running Man”, which airs at the same time as “Happy Sunday”, received a 13.8% viewer rating, whereas MBC’s “Our Sunday Night Part 2: I am a Singer” received a 13.8%, as well.

26 September:

An era drew to a close as Kang Ho Dong‘s last appearance on his flagship program, KBS‘s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘, was broadcast this Sunday.
In this episode, Kang Ho Dong once again showed his brotherly affection as he undertook various adventures with the cast and crew, including a Busan cruise and the finale of the ‘viewer tour’ special, where the cast members met personally with the fervent admirers of their show.
Despite the episode being Kang Ho Dong’s final appearance, there were no captions referencing his resignation from the show, which disappointed many fans.
Viewers showed an outpouring of support for the once-’nation’s MC’, saying, “Is today really his last broadcast?”, “I’m tearing up thinking this is the end,” and, “I hope he comes back soon.”

Lee Seung Gi shed tears of sadness on ‘1 Night and 2 Days’.
The last episode of the viewer tour segments aired on the September 25th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Happy Sunday- 1 Night and 2 Days’.  The cast members boarded a cruise at the Busan Sea, together with the guest viewers.  The group appeared to have a wonderful time.
However, at one point during the trip, a mid-40’s woman presented the producers/staff with a gift which brought out many emotions for those around her.
She stated, “This type of trip is a first for me. Thank you for sending me on this trip,” she sent a virtual letter to her husband, which made other passengers on the trip think of their loved ones causing them to become teary-eyed.

Lee Seung Gi, the captain of the on-board crew, comforted the viewers by saying, “This is the first ever meaningful trip for ’1 night and 2 days’ as well,” with tears in his eyes.

Meanwhile, this particular ‘1 Night and 2 Days’ episode is also the last with Kang Ho Dong. Kang Ho Dong will be leaving ‘1 Night and 2 Days’ due to his tax evasion scandal. In fact, he is temporarily retiring from the entertainment industry altogether.

Unfortunately, Kang Ho Dong didn’t have a special goodbye message on the show, as is customary for cast members when they leave.  Instead, the gourp ended the show shouting ‘1 Night and 2 Days’ leaving the audience with a bit of sadness and unattainable hope.

22 September:

On September 23rd, ‘1N2D‘ held its first shoot without MC Kang Ho Dong.
The staff members of ’1N2D’ looked nervous and concerned about their first shoot without the beloved MC. PD Na Young Suk even asked the staff to be a little understanding, since the cast would be a bit sensitive that day.
One by one, the cast members began to arrive on set. Their faces said it all — they were all worried about the first recording without their eldest hyung, Kang Ho Dong. The cast members all felt the heavy burden of having to carry the show without their main man.
Lee Seung GiLee Soo GeunEun Ji WonKim Jong Min, and Uhm Tae Woong agreed not to lose focus and to work hard, just like they always have. The staff expected the set to feel empty and awkward, but much to their surprise, the boys managed to motivate themselves into positive moods. The five went in for a group hug to re-confirm their loyalty to one another, and for the show itself.
Reportedly, the members got so hyped up that Uhm Tae Woong (who’s been sick lately) began rolling around on the ground, and Eun Ji Won brought out his classic facial expressions that had the cast roaring with laughter. Kim Jong Min even did his iconic shuffle dance.
Though there was heavy security in the area preventing cameras and reporters from getting too close, it seemed as though the staff and cast had no trouble continuing ’1N2D’ without Kang Ho Dong. They plan to continue the show together until February of next year.

Music lovers in Korean can immediately recognize ballad singer Sung Shi Kyung by picking up just one refrain, but when it comes to recognizing his face, it seems that Sung is a little less fortunate.

On August 28th’s episode of KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days’, Sung Shi Kyung took off his glasses for a popularity game. The rule was that Sung Shi Kyung was to stand for 5 minute in the middle of a city without his glasses. If no one recognized him, he would win.
Sung Shi Kyung stated, “This is the first time that I will take off my glasses during a variety show.” The result was that absolutely no one could identify Sung Shi Kyung without his glasses. Citizens just walked right past him without a second glance.
Sung Shi Kyung then stated, “There are three people who should never take off their glasses: Pororo, Kim Tae Woo, and myself.” The rest of the 1N2D members agreed, as they laughed, “No one can recognize you!”

19 August:
Na Young Suk PD of KBS’s “1 Night, 2 Days”, has spoken up about the program’s conclusion in six months.

After KBS announced that “1N2D” would end in six months, the PD made a statement throughNewsen. ”We discussed the issue with all of the cast members, production crew, and the KBS Entertainment department for a long time… There’s an ending for dramas, but not for entertainment shows. We hope that the ending of “1N2D” can show that an entertainment program could have a successful ending,” he said with his tone full of regret.
Na continued, “Although dramas and other programs have conclusions and have time to take a breath, “1N2D” was not able to. We received so much love and ran for such a long time… Since we had non-entertainers in our cast, we had many parts we needed to drop and there were hard times at the turning point in our lives”.
A typical entertainment show’s lifespan concludes when viewer ratings dropped, but we are suggesting a new paradigm, hoping that the viewers could understand… In other words, we hope we could be the first case where a program ends when it’s receiving the most love, thus creating the first ‘ending’.”
Na added, “Kang Ho Dong and the rest of the members agreed on the idea of a ’successful ending’. During these short remaining six months, we want to show everything we haven’t shown, and everything we could have shown.”
As for his personal thoughts on ‘1N2D’ coming to end, Na Young Suk said, “I think [the ending] discussion was something that was bound to happen at one point. Looking back, making the cast – which is mostly composed of singers and actors – give their lives up for the entertainment field could have been something cruel… To encourage the growth of the members, as well as open up a new path for the entertainment field, I believe that we, “1N2D”, need to carry on with our decision.”
We still have six months, which is quite a long time…We will stay on the path we’ve been going down in order to have a ’successful ending’.”
The reporter on the phone then asked Na, “Is this the end of “1N2D?”, to which Na replied, “There is no such thing as an ending. If there’s an ending, there is another beginning.”
He concluded, “If it’s not a sad ending, but a happy one, wouldn’t there be another beginning? …One day, a program titled “1N2D” can be created again, and be done again. Whether its comprised of new members or mixed members, I believe ‘1N2D’ can begin again at any given time.

KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ has announced that the hit variety program will be running for six more months before it comes to a close in February 2012.
All of the cast members reportedly made a mutual agreement with the producers of the show, saying that they would be leaving altogether in six months.
Their official press release reads as follows:
“We would first like to thank all of the viewers who have shown love for ‘1 Night 2 Days’. For the past four years, KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days’ has been an extremely joyful program that’s received the generous love of its viewers.
Because of recent events, many discussions have been taking place internally. After holding a frank, open-minded discussion with the ‘1 Night 2 Day’ members, including Kang Ho Dong-ssi, we have come to a final decision that we will be announcing to viewers in the following paragraphs:
The members of ‘1 Night 2 Days’, including KBS and Kang Ho Dong-ssi, cannot imagine a ‘1 Night 2 Days’ without any of its members. We have come to a consensus of starting and ending the show together as one.

As a program that runs true to form, there is no ‘end’. The case is usually members pitifully departing one by one due to a drop in viewer ratings.
‘1 Night 2 Days’, a program that’s praised for being the ‘nation’s variety show’, is the result of much sweat and effort from the members and staff. We do not want something that shines so brightly to meet with a pitiful end. Realistically, the members also all agree that ‘1 Night 2 Days’ cannot continue on forever.
As such, all of the members have agreed to do their absolute best for the next six months and bring the show to a successful conclusion.
We’ve worked with passion for the past four years, and will continue to do so for the next six months. We’ll be working as if each episode is the last and promise to move our citizens and provide them with laughter. We ask that you continue to show us your interest and love.”

On the August 14th episode of KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘, Lee Seung Gi revealed that he had gone through a period of severe hair loss due to the pressures of advancing into the variety industry as a singer.
Lee Seung Gi began said, “Variety shows are a lot of pressure for singers. When I first began three years ago, I couldn’t even sleep right. During ‘X-Man‘ and ‘Heroine 6‘, everything just felt so stressful that I wanted to run away from it all. My heart felt so heavy after the dancing segments.”
He continued by confessing, “I was so stressed from it all that I began losing hair over it. It was difficult having to come up with a new dance every week for a variety show. Around the time that I thought that I was lacking in variety skills, I joined ‘1 Night 2 Days’.”
On joining the show, he commented, “The hyungs kept telling me that I was doing okay. They sacrificed themselves by playing the evil roles for me. Thinking about it now, it was difficult for me, but my hyungs’ strengths made what I was doing look bigger than it actually was.”

Through an overseas trip, the cast of ‘1 Night 2 Days’, along with two members chosen through a radio mission, met former Korean MLB pitcher Park Chan Ho (Chan Ho Park) in Japan for the first time in a long while. Park Chan Ho is currently a pitcher for the Orix Buffaloes in Japan.

Park Chan Ho and ‘1 Night 2 Days’ have a history because the former pitcher appeared as the very first special guest on the show.
Park Chan Ho, who has been continuing to exercise abroad, intends to meet ‘1 Night 2 Days’ if he stays in Korea after the completion of his season in Japan.
One person stated, “We traveled abroad for one night and two days. We had a fun time with Park Chan Ho, whom we haven’t seen in a while. He even cheered on the members in hopes that they will get a good response.

The specific contents of what happened during the recording will be revealed through the broadcast of the episode. Considering how long it’s been since we’ve met Park Chan Ho, it will be a different experience.”

7 August:

On August 7th, Kang Ho Dong made a special parody of 2NE1’s hit track, “I Am the Best” on his variety program, ‘1 Night 2 Days‘.
The episode was a ‘waterfall special’ that’s been in the works for five years. The parody kicks off when Kang Ho Dong lays down and rests a bit before they head off to visit a waterfall. Changing up the lyrics, he began singing, “I am the best at eating~.”
Viewers couldn’t help but laugh when he realized how clever he was, and sang it a few more times, bragging about how good he was at eating.
Later, after on his mission to find a waterfall, he sang it again, but with another lyric change as well as a dance he came up with on the spot. He sang, “1 Night 2 Days is the best.”
The song was played in another scene where Eun Ji Won was listening to call-ins from the radio while eating bread. He stopped mid-bite, leading viewers to assume that he had stopped in concern of the caller, but it was actually revealed to be because he wanted to chew before taking another bite.

Comedian Lee Soo Geun recently compared his ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ castmates to animals in his narration for a documentary titled, ‘One Life‘.
He likened leader Kang Ho Dong to a whale, saying that, “He has a similar appetite and strength.“ Eun Ji Won was compared to a shrew, an animal that’s an expert at eluding predators with speed and wit.
Uhm Tae Woong was chosen to resemble a Japanese monkey because of his trustworthy and calm personality. Meanwhile, maknae Lee Seung Gi was compared to the Brown Capuchin monkey for his handiness and quick-thinking.
Lee Soo Geun commented, “It was really hard for me to pick an animal similar to Kim Jong Min. If I really had to choose, I’d have to say an Altai-bearded vulture comes closest, because they work hard and try their best at everything they do.”
The documentary film ‘One Life’ will air on August 18th.

17 july:
On July 15th’s episode of ‘1 Night 2 Days‘, the six members were separated into different cities, and from there they were given a mission to send a story to a popular radio program. The story that was chosen and broadcasted first would win the mission.

Lee Seung Gi ended up being the winner that day, and listeners were touched as his story was broadcasted. “Hi everyone, this is Seung Gi from ‘1 Night 2 Days’,” he began. “We have a shoot for the show today. We started in Yeoido this morning, but when I opened my eyes a little later, we were somewhere in Jeju Island and now we are on a mountain top in Kangwon-do.”
“Something funny happened today. Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, and Kim Jong Min were grouped into a team and the three of them seemed inseparable and completely loyal to one another, but it seemed as though Hodong hyung and Jongmin hyung betrayed Sugeun hyung along the way. But later, I think Hodong hyung felt guilty about the whole situation. He kept telling us that on an entertainment program like ours, being completely honest and always playing by the rules is a dereliction of our duties as an entertainer. I thought about what he said, and I realized something,” he continued.
“Everything the hyungs do on the show, such as choosing to be the bad guy, being stubbornly insistent, or whatever else is them thinking about what’s best for the program itself, and what’s best for the younger guys like me. And the person who benefits the most from their sacrifices… is quite possibly myself.

“I always try my hardest, but regardless of how good my best may or may not be, the hyungs are always so quick to encourage me. They say things like, “SeungGi, you’re the best. You work so hard.” And because of the encouragements I receive from them, I am able to receive more love and support that go beyond the results of my own efforts.”
“They are the reason behind my success, because of everything they do on the show. So through this radio broadcast, I would like to sincerely thank my hyungs who have been on the show with me for the past five years. I want to openly declare that I consider myself so lucky to have you guys in my life.
To conclude, Seung Gi stated, “Perhaps sometime in the future, I will be able to one day share the love I received from all of you with other younger entertainers and colleagues to follow behind me. I want to be that beacon of light to others and offer them the same encouragement. I still have a long way to go before I become like my hyungs, but until that day, I ask for their continued love & support. Thank you.”

On July 10th, cast member Uhm Tae Woong’s pet dog, ‘Baektong‘, made a special appearance on this week’s 200th special episode of KBS 2TV’s “1 Night 2 Days”.

Uhn Tae Woong, who’s always been known to be a dog-lover, has been taking care of his dog for over seven months. Uhm Tae Woong expressed, “Baektong’s like me and doesn’t have a lot to say, and he’s also very shy.”
During the episode, MC Kang Ho Dong mused, “When I look at Baektong, I get reminded of Sang Geun and miss him. Sang Geun-ah, it’s been hot lately, are you eating and doing well?” ‘Sang Geun’ was a Great Pyreness dog who was a regular cast member of “1 Night 2 Days” since its first episode, but unfortunately had to be withdrawn from the show a few months back due to his old age and health issues.
After the show ended, netizens left comments like, “Baektong should replace Sang Geun and be 1N2D’s new mascot”, and “It’d be nice if Baektong came on more often.”
Unfortunately, the producer burst all bubbles of hope and stated that Baektong’s appearance was for only one episode, and will not be Sang Geun’s replacement as the show’s next mascot.

While the original members argued over the different ways to go about making a quick snowman, newcomerUhm Tae Woong showed off his innocent personality by quietly following the orders of the other members, and gathering the snow himself.
Without much help from the others, Uhm Tae Woong was eventually able to finish his masterpiece, leading directors to add in a cute BGM and a yellow caption that showed his naivety to the program.
In order to fulfill the mission’s three-meter-height requirement, the members stacked clumps of snow on top of the snowman’s head, making it look very much like the signature ‘palm tree’ hairstyle of 2NE1’sDara. Hilariously, the members agreed on nicknaming it “Sandara Park Snowman.”
