On the night of August 23rd, there was only one place for Seoul’s V.I.Ps to be, and that was at the CGV Wangsimni IMAX theatre. Stars and journalists flocked to attend the V.I.P premiere for the highly-anticipated action flick, ”Blue Salt“, which was directed by Lee Hyun Seung.
“Blue Salt” is about a compassionate, but tough gang boss named ‘Du Heon’ (Song Kang Ho) who is now retired and dreams of becoming a restaurant owner. He meets ‘Se Bin’ (Shin Se Kyung), a girl with a mysterious identity at a cooking class. Little does he know that she’s tasked to kill him because her best friend was being held captive by Du Heon’s rival gang. Du Heon and Se Bin soon fall in love with each other, but ultimately they have to make a choice.
The V.I.P premiere drew in huge names like Rain, Kim Min Joon, Kim Chang Ryul, Choi Daniel, Kim Hye Soo, Kim Hye Jin, SNSD (Sooyoung, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, YoonA, Sunny), Kim Soo Hyun, Min Hyo Rin, Yoon Eun Hye, Jang Hyuk, Lee Yoon Ji, Kim Hae Sook, Lee Jung Hyun, Jung Woo Sung, Horan, Park Hee Sun, Lee Jung Jae, Kim Joo Hyuk, Eom Ji Won, Kim Gyuri and many more.
The movie will be officially released in Korean theaters from September 1st.

“Blue Salt“, which stars actors Song Kang Ho and Shin Se Kyung, has recently revealed its movie poster.
The poster shows a teary-eyed and apologetic Shin Se Kyung, who points a gun at a placid Song Kang Ho, leaving a very strong impression on viewers.
The accompanying text beside their faces reads, “Ahjusshi..sorry” and “It’s alright… if it’s you,shedding light on the two’s relationship in the film.
“Blue Salt” is about a man (Song Kang Ho) who wants to leave his past and lead a more peaceful life when he gets approached by a mysterious woman (Shin Se Kyung) who withholds her identity. As the two characters develop deep feelings for each other, they fall into greater danger.
The movie will be released in September.

Actress Shin Se Kyung has completely outgrown her “glamorous innocence” and is ready to face the world with her radically new rebellious look.
Photos taken on the set of her upcoming film, ‘Blue Salt‘, were shared online recently, showing the actress in a leather jacket as she leans against a motorcycle, and again as she points a gun.
Film representatives said, “Shin Se Kyung has been practicing riding motorcycles for the past six months, and has even acquired a motorcycle driver’s license. She has also perfected her shooting and handling of guns for the role.”
‘Blue Salt’ will follow the story of two characters: Shin Se Kyung is commissioned to monitor a retired boss (played by Song Kang Ho), who’s trying to hide details of his past.
Shin Se Kyung is currently listed as one of the most wanted actresses of this generation and will surely be showing off her acting range through this new image.
Staff commented, “It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Shin Se Kyung’s character Se Bin a former gun and shooting expert. She has been frequenting shooting ranges and taking classes in order to perfect her acting. She shocked everybody when she hit a target bulls-eye her very first time handling a real gun.”

Shin Se Kyung and Song Kang Ho’s latest film, “Blue Salt“, has finally finished all its recordings last month, and is preparing to hit theatres in the first half of 2011.
CJ E&M representatives revealed on March 4th, “Actor Song Kang Ho and actress Shin Se Kyung, who have leading roles in ‘Blue Salt’, have completed all the filming in the Philippines on February 18th.”
“Blue Salt” is a film about a retired mafia boss (Song Kang Ho) who comes across a mysterious woman (Shin Se Kyung); little does he know that is she’s on a mission to have him killed. As she falls in love with him, however, she finds it increasingly difficult to complete the job she was hired for and subsequently becomes entangled in danger.
Song Kang Ho commented, “So many emotions are crossing my mind. They’re all fresh characters, and the combination of the characters make for an interesting plot. The director and Shin Se Kyung all tried to make this an awesome film, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Factors like the weather made the filming process difficult, but we gathered our strength together and pulled through. For that, I’m thankful for all the staff and castmates.”
Shin Se Kyung, who has put aside her ‘innocent’ image for the first time in exchange for a ’stronger’ role, also added, “It’s hard for me to believe that it’s over. Everyone has become like family to me, and I’ll miss the staff members a lot. This movie is so precious to me, I’m very proud of it and the thought of it still excites me. I’m very thankful to senior Song Kang Ho and director Lee Hyun Seung. The fact that I met them can be described as nothing other than one of the luckiest moments of my life.”
“Blue Salt” will now be going through its final editing process before its release.
