10 August:

Rookie girl group CHI CHI returned to the music scene with the release of “Longer” nearly two weeks ago. The girls have received a lot more attention with their mature image change for this round of promotions compared to their quirky concept from “Don’t Play Around“.
With the practice of releasing practice videos becoming quite a trend, the ladies of CHI CHI have also decided to release the sexy practice video for “Longer”.
In the practice video, you can see how the girls are no longer playing around, essentially displaying how much they’ve improved in their choreography since their debut.

26 July:

Though they debuted only four months ago, girl group CHI CHI are already receiving love calls from numerous Japanese record companies.
According to industry representatives, the girls are currently in discussions for contracts with four major Japanese labels. Considering how the girls debuted in March, they technically don’t have the large fanbase size that most other groups seem to have.
Still, Japanese representatives took notice of their potential and reached out to the girls first.
Other girl groups took years to advance into the market, but with Hallyu developing rapidly, CHI CHI will mark the shortest time between debut and advancement out of their fellow girl groups this year.
A representative of one Japanese label said, “Korean idols first appealed to the Japanese people for having a charm different from Japanese idols, but now they’re all walking a similar, standardized pattern. We’re seeing a lot of potential for advancement in CHI CHI, as they have the same innocent charm and individuality between the members, just like top idol groups AKB48 and Morning Musume.”
CHI CHI’s agency responded, “We’re not at the stage where we can reveal specifics yet, but all that’s left currently is to choose a final label that we feel would best suit CHI CHI’s advancement.”

25 July:

Although CHI CHI’s newest single, “Longer“, has been drawing praise for its powerful vocals and music, its accompanying music video has been garnering some criticism from broadcasters due to its violent content and revealing costumes.
The criticisms focused particularly on a violent scene that took place in a swimming pool.

“It was a needed scene for the storyline, so we decided that there wouldn’t be a problem,” said a representative who added that the music video will be re-edited and submitted for evaluation again. “We were surprised by the broadcast networks’ decision, but we have no problem with their opinion.”
CHI CHI’s agency, Yedang Entertainment concluded, “But the scenes in question are important to the video, so we’re struggling to find ways on how to edit it.”

19 July:
Girl group CHI CHI will be making their comeback on July 21st with their new digital single, “Longer“.

Before the release of their album, CHI CHI showcased their mature charms through a photoshoot for their album jacket cover. Their new title song, “Longer” combines strong clubhouse beats and a sentimental electronic sound, mix-matching emotions to portray the passing of one’s first love and the pain that follows thereafter.
A representative for the group stated, “The new song is different from CHI CHI’s debut song ‘Don’t Play Around‘; it’s a house dance song with electronic beats. You’ll be able to experience a different side to CHI CHI from the song.”
They added, “The album’s unique feature lies in its variety of musicality. There are 3 different versions of ‘Longer’, including the original version, as well as an acoustic version and a re-mixed version with electronic and analogue sounds. You’ll be able to sense CHI CHI’s upgraded musical feel.
Having been away from the music scene since March, CHI CHI will resume their active promotions in just a few days.

30 June:

In celebration of their 100th day since debut, the girls of CHI CHI shared pictures of gifts that they received from their fans.
On June 25th, each member showed their gratitude, especially to their international fans from “Creative Dolls”, who sent them a trophy and cake for their 100th day, along with translated congratulatory messages from fans in America, Philippines, and Malaysia.
The CHI CHI members each tweeted, “To the international fans who personally sent gifts for our 100th day since debut, I will be forever touched!”, “Thank you so so much! It’s been 100 days since our debut. We will continue to do our best. Thank you. I love you, everyone”, “Thank you for the 100th day presents! I’m touched. We will work even harder”, “Tears of emotion. Thank you. Please keep loving us.”, and “It’s already our 100th day since debut. We’re a happy CHI CHI thanks to you guys! We will continue to work harder. We hope for more love in the future. I love you.”
Meanwhile, CHI CHI are currently amidst comeback preparations for their upcoming follow-up track.

21 April:
CHI CHI has been fighting amidst fierce competition with other girl groups in order to join the ‘A Class’ line-up of girl groups at the top.

For the past year, the seven members have trained intensively for 12 hours a day in singing and dancing. They also went through strict dieting to achieve the Barbie doll-like bodies they have today. In their recent interview with JoongAng, the girls aimed to connect with their fans on a more personal level, so check it out below.
Q. “It’s been about a month since your debut.  How does it feel?”
Ji-U: “It doesn’t touch us as deeply as we are worried. We’re always nervous about making mistakes every time we get up on stage, and we’re also so busy checking out the popular celebrities at broadcast halls. It was really cool seeing the TVXQ seniors.”
Q. “Do you dorm together?  Girl groups usually don’t have any privacy.”
Semi: “We do, we live in a villa in Nonhyun-dong, Seoul. Ever since we began our training, we decided to put aside our private lives. Our agency also has our cell phones so we really don’t have the time or opportunity to do anything else. At night, we rehearse and go back to our dorms to play games or practice gags.”
Q. “How long do you rehearse?”
Su-i: “We rehearse from 9 AM to 9 PM every day. In the morning, we receive three hour personal vocal lessons before lunch and then practice our choreography together again at 5 PM. At 7 PM, we receive personal dance training and then receive vocal lessons again until we check out.”
Q. “You’re all so skinny, is it the result of strict dieting?”
Nara: “It was tearfully painful. Every time we headed in for work, we’d weigh ourselves. If we had gained even 100g of weight, we’d have to watch out for our CEO so we didn’t even drink a sip of water before we went on the scale. We eat a simple Korean style breakfast and lunch, and lettuce for dinner. There were so many different diet foods that we came up with, like wrapping grape tomatoes in sesame leaves. What’s great about debuting now is that we’re done with diets. They let us eat since we need energy to sing live, it truly feels like we’re living life now.”
Q. “Since it was so difficult, did you ever want to quit?”
A-zi: “There were so many times that I cried wondering why I was living such a hard life, not being able to eat what I wanted to eat. It was an endless cycle where I’d cry to the point where I’d lose any will and stuff myself full of food. After seeing my weight gain the next day, I’d get sad again and the cycle repeats. Still, I couldn’t give up my dream of becoming a singer.”
Q. “Future goals?”
Boreum: “Whenever we see our SNSD seniors, we’re immediately put in awe. Stage performances, singing, they’re always impressive. We work hard every single day in order to one day be like them.”

12 April:
In their latest interview with Star News, the seven members of rookie girl group CHI CHI expressed their admiration for their seniors, SNSD.

In late March, the girls were asked whether they had a girl group that they thought of as their rivals during their debut showcase. They had answered, “Our goal is to overtake the nation’s best girl group, SNSD. Becoming Asia’s best girl group is also another goal of ours. We believe our strong point is performing unique music.”
Unfortunately, that statement came with consequences. The girls were the target of criticism for their over-ambitious goals so early in their careers.
CHI CHI took the interview as an opportunity to express what they had truly meant by explaining, “When we said that we wanted to overtake SNSD, we meant it as a form of respect. We want to become a girl group that receives love from males and females of all age groups.”
Ji-u continued, “SNSD is our role model and seniors that we respect and want to become like,” while Naraadded, “SNSD is the best girl group in not only Korea, but all of Asia. As we still have many things that we lack, they are like our role models.”
Semi stated, “SNSD is our idol. They’re always working hard to become the top, and we, too, want to reach that status as well.”
Even though they’ve chosen SNSD as their role models, the girls expressed a sense of pride over the music they wish to pursue. CHI CHI debuted as an electronic house group with their track, “Don’t Play Around.

Su-i explained, “The strongest point for CHI CHI is that we perform unique music for a girl group. Even though the public isn’t familiar with our members individually, they’re familiar with ‘Don’t Play Around.’”
Nara stated, “Our music is positive in that it’s not convoluted, but still maintains an addictive quality. We hope to continue presenting such refreshing music and hopefully win a rookie award at the year-end.”
CHI CHI will be promoting “Don’t Play Around” until the end of this month and will make their official comeback in May with a new track.
They concluded, “Our song to be released this May is a lot more melodious than ‘Don’t Play Around.’ We’re already looking forward to our next promotion cycle!”

Why does girl group CHI CHI’s contract have a ‘no plastic surgery‘ termination clause?
CHI CHI’s unusual contract terms, stipulations, and conditions are garnering much attention. The 7-member girl group, who recently debuted with the the song “Don’t Play Around“, are under a contract that states, “If you get plastic surgery, your contract will be terminated immediately.”
On April 11th, an official from CHI CHI’s agency confirmed, “If a member from CHI CHI were to get plastic surgery, then her contract will be terminated. This clause is intended to encourage their natural beauty.” He added, “One can improve their appearance with plastic surgery, but when thinking about the future of these kids, we decided that keeping their natural look is the best course of action. The members also stated that getting plastic surgery would be a big burden. We consulted with their parents beforehand and everyone agreed it would be the best to avoid plastic surgery.”
Meanwhile, CHI CHI is currently promoting their creative, electronic-house dance music. They’re showing their fresh charms as a rookie group, and with their strong debut song, “Don’t Play Around”, the girls are quickly becoming one of the top rookie groups of the 1st half of 2011.

1 April:
Actress Hong Soo Ah will be performing as the honorary eighth member of girl group CHI CHI once again! The labelmates will be performing for the 2011 opening game between the Doosan Bears and LG Twins.

A representative of Doosan commented, “Hong Soo Ah is the Doosan Bears’ honorary starting pitcher, and has helped publicize professional baseball more than anyone else. While planning special events for our fans in celebration of our 30th anniversary, we decided that it’d be fun to bring in Hong Soo Ah and rookie girl group, CHI CHI.”
The actress stated, “This year, the interest and popularity of professional baseball continues to rise. It’s an honor to be able to initiate such a fun and long-awaited festival with baseball fans. I’ll be rehearsing a lot to make sure that it’s the best stage possible, so please look forward to it.”
CHI CHI added, “All seven of us are hardcore baseball fans. Although we’re nervous (especially since this will be the biggest stage for us) we hope that we’ll become a sweet source of energy for the baseball fans in the stadium.”
The girl group and their special guest member will be performing “Don’t Play Around” on April 2nd.

27 Maret:
Just one week into their debut, CHI CHI has already left a strong first impression on music fans and is already receiving the attention of industry representatives.

Their debut itself is notable, especially since it’s rare for a rookie to be given a performance spot on all three of the public networks, as well as a cable channel in their first week of a debut.
Despite competing against a stream of other idol debuts, CHI CHI is rated to have made their own mark, ranking in on major portal search rankings after each debut performance.
Their representative commented, “We’ve been receiving many variety program requests just a week into the girls’ debut. Because they are rookies that have just debuted, we will be working to introduce ‘Don’t Play Around’ through as much programs as possible.”

26 Maret:
It hasn’t been that long since 7-member girl group CHI CHI made their debut with ”Don’t Play Around“, but unfortunately, they’re already tasting the bitter backlash of Fame.

An MR-removed video of theirs is quickly making rounds on numerous Korean community boards, and while MR-removed videos usually showcase an artist’s strengths, in this case, it exposed their weaknesses.
Judging from the sounds from the video, it’s obvious that most of the girls were lip-syncing on stage. Normally, many groups rely on a pre-recorded track to help them control the pitch and pace of their performances. However, pockets of silence throughout their live revealed that most of the girls were barely singing at all, and that they were relying on their background music to mask the act. Those who did sing were terribly off-key, or delivered half of their lines.
