7 August:
On August 7th, KBS aired a “dream girls summer special” for their sports variety show, ‘Dream Team 2‘, which contained some suggestive and licentious scenes that left viewers feeling uncomfortable.
Girl group members from SISTAR, Rainbow, CSJH, Girl’s Day, Nine Muses, Dal Shabet, Rania, together with Lee Pani, Kim Mi Yeon, Kim Na Young, Kang Eun Bi, etc guested on the show for what was supposed to be a fun series of games.
Since the recording for this particular episode happened in a waterpark, female contestants wore T-shirts over their bathing suits, but not all did. Some of the matches also called for inappropriate scenes that made viewers watching with their families feel rather uncomfortable.
The scenes in question would be repeated on end, and cameras would even zoom up to specific body parts, providing one-shots to the celebrities with the best bodies. This issue was compounded by the fact that the program was aired during a time slot when families gathered to watch TV together.
Soon after the broadcast, the viewer board for ‘Dream Team 2′ was met with an onslaught of angry viewers who left comments like, “It was as if I was watching an old adult’s program”, and “Cameras would take shots from the front and even one-shots of the contestants’ breasts. It was just embarrassing.”
Other viewers, however, defended the program by commenting, “It was a refreshing broadcast fit for the summer weather. I felt as if I had gone on vacation myself”, and “This is reverse discrimination. It’s apparently fine when guys run around with their tops off, but it’s suddenly sexually suggestive for girls to wear t-shirts over their bikinis?”

30 June:
Due to the recent heavy rainfall that Korea has been enduring this past week, the production team ofKBS 2TV’s ‘Let’s Go Dream Team 2‘ had no choice but to suspend all recording schedules. In addition, to avoid potential rumors, they have emphasized that it wasn’t due to the cast suffering from injuries.
Earlier today, PD Kwon Yong Taek stated, “Yesterday’s recording cancellation was because of the downpour, not because of continuous injuries.”
According to PD Kwon, the producing team headed out to Everland in Gyeonggi-do on June 29th to film a ‘Female Idol’ special episode, starring NS Yoon Ji, Jewelry, Dal Shabet, Nine Muses, After School, SECRET and Rainbow. This recording did not include any of the regular members of the show.
The production team originally had three games planned for the recording, but due to the heavy downpour, the guest stars only participated in running races in the rain. During the recording, while racing to grab hold of the flag at the finish line, one of the cast members hit his or her thigh against someone else’s knee, which resulted in both of the cast members to fall over and suffer bruising to their legs.
PD Kwon explained, “There is always a doctor present at the scene of the recording. After getting checked up by the doctor, the two cast members took a rest in the rest room.”
He continued, “We had to pause the shooting as the rain was making it too unsafe for recording to take place. We didn’t suspend the shooting because of the injured members, but because of the wet weather.”
“Since the cast was only able to participate in one of the three games, there was no point in going to excessive lengths (for recording). We explained this to the idols even before the shooting, and we told them that those with a fear of water can just participate in games that don’t involve it.”
He concluded, “There are some who point out a problem with safety, but the production team of ‘Let’s Go Dream Team’ always makes sure to look out for the cast’s safety on the show.”
The cast will have a re-recording of the episode in early August.
