Lee Da Hae and Park Yoochun recently revealed the reasons behind their absences for MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley‘ after party.
On July 20th, a representative for Lee Da Hae stated, “She had a shooting for her Chinese activities. She couldn’t pull out from her schedule, so unfortunately, she was unable to attend. She didn’t have any conflicts with the staff.”
A representative for Yoochun said as well, “He had a schedule filming for an advertisement. It was scheduled even before the shooting for the drama began. He was planning to attend the after party after the filming was over, but it ended later than planned.”
‘Miss Ripley’ portrayed a woman collapsing to her web of lies and has been criticized for its unreasonable plot and weak characters. The after party was held on July 19th and caught attention for the nonattendance of the main actors.
MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley‘ has ended its run on the air with a strong viewership rating!
On July 20th, AGB Nielsen Media Research revealed that the last episode of ‘Miss Ripley’ recorded a viewership rating of 15.4%. The drama edged out its competitor, SBS’s ‘Warrior Baek Dong Soo‘, which recorded 15.0% to place second.
Meanwhile, KBS’s ‘Spy Myung Wol‘, starring Eric Mun and Han Ye Seul, recorded a fairly low viewership of 5.9%, placing last.
Starting on the 25th, historical drama ‘Gyebaek‘ will fill in the timeslot for ‘Miss Ripley’. It’s got some big shoes to fill, but with a strong cast of Lee Seo Jin, Song Ji Hyo, Jo Jae Hyun, and Oh Yeon Soo, many viewers are expressing great anticipation for it.
19 July:On July 19th, MBC’s drama ‘Miss Ripley‘ reached its final conclusion.
‘Jang Mi Ri‘ (played by Lee Da Hae) ultimately went to prison for forging her educational background and degrees. Then the story fast forwarded 1 year, in which ‘Jang Mi Ri’ was finally released from prison and began her new life with a happy outlook.
Her mother, ‘Lee Hwa‘ (played by Choi Myung Gil), wanted to go abroad together with ‘Jang Mi Ri’, but ‘Jang Mi Ri’ ended up staying back in Korea.
She sent a letter to her mother with “I will live here to atone for my difficult, but shameful past. You really did return like you had promised when you gave me the necklace to keep and wait for you. I love you“, as she forgave her mother for abandoning her during her childhood.
Meanwhile, ‘Lee Hwa’ volunteered happily with her husband, ‘Song In Soo‘ (played by Jang Young). ‘Jang Myung Hoon‘ (played by Kim Seung Woo) opened a small hospital where he treated senior citizens. ‘Moon Hee Joo‘ (played by Kang Hye Jung) was shown to become a successful architect.
The romance line between ‘Yoo Hyun‘ (played by Yoochun) and ‘Jang Mi Ri’ ended peacefully with Yoo Hyun’s soliloquy: “I met her one day. I knew her at first glance. She was similar to my long departed mother. A woman who gave joy to the world. She is like my heart. I loved her. I really loved her“.
At a distance, a sign was seen labeled with “The greatest love is to love yourself“. As ‘Song Yoo Hyun’ remembered ‘Jang Mi Ri’ in his memory, ‘Jang Mi Ri’ was also thinking of ‘Song Yoo Hyun’ as they passed by each other without actually meeting. The drama ended with love’s aftertaste.

Yoochun’s character has always been known as a caring and considerate one, but that will all change once he finds out about Lee Da Hae’s lie. Left in pain and agony over his love for her, Yoochun becomes swept in being forced to make the right decision. The scene was filmed at a hotel in Namsan, Seoul, on July 8th, and it was said that he didn’t feel any pressure about baring himself for the cuts. Staff were especially surprised with the level of concentration he showed and the many different emotions he was able to express in one short shower scene.
Hilariously, the female staff were reported to have shouted in disagreement once the director yelled out “OK”, signaling the end of the cut. The male staff turned the entire set into a sea of laughter by jokingly remarking, “Stop staring at him!”
Producers said, “This sene is one where we can see his misery once he finds out the truth about Lee Da Hae. He’ll make a complete 180 degree change in image, and Yoochun himself is making an effort to bring those changes justice. Viewers will be able to see his transformation in the 13th and 14th episodes.”

To overcome the challenges of the all-night filming for MBC’s drama ‘Miss Ripley’, Park Yoochun reveals his “blanket fashion.”
Although there is a heat wave of over 30 degrees Celsius during the day, the temperature drops and becomes quite chilly as it nears nighttime. On June 19th, it was revealed that actress Lee Da Hae received treatment at a hospital for exhaustion.
Ever since May, Lee Da Hae had been running on a full schedule in order to keep up with the filming for “Miss Ripley“, often working day in and day out without rest. It seems the fatigue finally caught up to her, as she visited a hospital on the afternoon of the 18th to receive an IV treatment.
A representative of her agency revealed, “Her doctor said that a week of rest was required for her to get better, but Lee Da Hae is passionate about the drama. She was discharged right away and returned to the film set immediately.”
Lee Da Hae later tweeted, “I’m okay! I wasn’t getting enough sleep so I got an IV treatment and slept a bit. I feel a lot better now! Thank you so much for worrying over me! I’m filming today! I’ll work hard, aja aja!”
Lee Da Hae is mixing up her wardrobe for her new femme fatale character on MBC’s “Miss Ripley“.The actress is the female lead for the drama and is gaining attention for her appearance in up to 100 scenes in each episode. Her transitions between angelic and demonic personalities are also noticeable, and resemble the contrasting characters of Jekyll and Hyde.
Her wardrobe in the drama reportedly is like a fashion show collection, as the actress appears in many scenes and has to show her changing personalities with her clothes.
In “Miss Ripley”, Lee Da Hae’s character uses Kim Seung Yoo and Yoochun’s characters for her personal gain, wearing fairly provocative clothes to achieve these goals. She has donned outfits like a sexy mini dress, which emphasized her body line. Because she appears in so many scenes, the actress has to switch her outfit around ten times per episode. Her stylist coordinates each outfit after Lee Da Hae has received the script and discussed her character at length with her.
A representative for DBM Entertainment commented on the actress’s dedication to her character, saying, “Lee Dae Hae even went to a shop in Dongdaemun where women who work in bars tend to shop. She bought her red wig and revealing outfits there that she has worn for the beginning scenes in the drama, where she worked in a bar in Japan.”
16 June:
JYJ’s Park Yoochun and actress Lee Da Hae had a photoshoot-like recording for MBC’s “Miss Ripley” under the lighthouse and by the blue sea on Jeju Island.
Yoochun plays the character ‘Yoo Hyun’, who is the likely heir to the Mondo Group ‘throne’. On the other hand, Lee Da Hae plays ‘Mi Ri’, a girl who dreams of upward mobility through her education. Inevitably, the two characters ‘coincidentally’ meet each other on Jeju Island.
Although Mi Ri is in a relationship with Myung Hoon (played by actor Kim Seung Woo), she becomes attracted to Yoo Hyun, who has a higher status and more wealth. Up until now, Mi Ri ignored Yoo Hyun, stating, “You are like a rotten rope that I can see often only in Goshiwon.” However, after finding out that he is a second generation conglomerate, she is ruffling up a new temptation.
Mi Ri went to Jeju Island to rest her head, but when she found out that Yoo Hyun was also there, she runs into Yoo Hyun while pretending to look for Hee Joo (played by actress Kang Hye Jung), and that is how their inevitable-disguised-as-chance date on Jeju Island started.
They drove by the coast in a luxury, convertible sports car that was flown in from Seoul, drove by the amazing wind-power propellers, and played in the water at Jungmun Beach.
Their cozy drive and date made them seem like a real couple – drawing envy and curiosity from the tourists who were also visiting Jeju Island at the time.
Yoochun stated, “Because of the filming, I got to enjoy Jeju Island’s amazing scenery and kill two birds with one stone,” explaining that he enjoyed his time. Lee Da Hae displayed a bright expression as she stated that she was happy to get out of the city and film a dating scene at a resort.

On the latest episode of “Miss Ripley“, Lee Da Hae and Park Yoochun were seen wearing matching leather jackets and jeans as they set off for an exciting motorcycle date.
Although Yoochun had shown a soft image as the kind-hearted heir to a resort chain, he revealed a tough and masculine side in this scene. Lee Da Hae, who usually flaunts a feminine style as ‘Jang Mi Ri‘, also underwent a surprising image change for the scene.
The motorcycle, which cost about $37,000 USD, was flown in especially for the filming at Banpo Bridge. When the two actors heard that they would be riding a motorcycle, they couldn’t hide back their smiles. Yoochun in particularly enjoys driving fast cars, so he was very happy at the prospect of sitting on a motorbike.
The publishers stated, “Yoochun, who had previously shown only a gentle charisma, is starting to reveal his actual tough masculinity. The viewers’ hearts will pound at the sight of him and Lee Da Hae on the motorcycle, getting ready for a new beginning. Please look forward to it!”

For MBC’s upcoming drama “Ripley“, actress Lee Da Hae has made a dramatic transformation by donning a firey red wig for her character, ‘Jang Miri’.

Her life is already depressing in that she’s forced to work at a bar as a hostess in order to overcome her poverty-stricken life. The new still-cuts revealed today feature scenes of ‘Miri’ plotting with ‘Hirayama’ for her escape from the bar. Unlike the classy image she’s usually known for, Lee Da Hae went for a more daring and seductive style to complete her character’s look. The style was completely put together by Lee Da Hae herself, as she reportedly went around dozens of wig shops to personally pick one she thought fit best.
Producers stated, “Lee Da Hae talked it over with the director and writers in order to perfect her character’s tragic life, so we ask for you to anticipate how she will interpret the character in her own way.”

17 Mei:On May 17th, MBC’s new drama “Ripley” held its production conference at the Banyan Tree with lead roles Kim Seung Woo, Lee Da Hae, Park Yoochun, and Kang Hye Jung in attendance.
As it’s his second drama, Yoochun was asked to explain the difference between his role in “Ripley” and his role in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal.”
He answered, “Well, I’ve gone from wearing hanbok to suits now… I think the way the two characters express pain is different. Unlike ‘Lee Sun Joon’, my character in ‘Ripley’ starts everything with a laugh. He’s always smiling, but it only takes a moment for him to begin shedding tears.”
He continued, “There was definitely a lot of pressure, and even after I decided to take the role, I was still worried over whether I’d do well. One of my greatest concerns was how the viewers would perceive me, especially since they thought well of me with my previous work. Everyone treats me so well at the recording so I’m able to take part in it comfortably now.”
When asked about working with his seniors, he revealed, “I was so nervous, I made a lot of NGs. I’d blush and sweat. It’s my second drama so I’m definitely seeing a wider perspective in comparison to my debut.”
Kang Hye Jung who is playing the second female lead role, praised, “Yoochun-ssi is so great at acting and works extremely hard. I think he fits his character well of being a smooth man of the city. A person of his level could probably take on dramas catering to the teenage audience, but he doesn’t rely on his popularity at all and is determined to live life as a true actor.”
On his reasons for choosing “Ripley”, Yoochun commented, “I’ve really wanted to do a melodrama. I loved the character as well, and after seeing the line-up, I wanted to be able work with them.”
“Ripley” will debut on May 30th.
