Wheesung, who’s currently serving in the army, will be revealing an unreleased track in collaboration with Soul Star‘s Seungwoo!
Produced before his enlistment, the single will be released on June 7th as a duet with member Seungwoo of the R&B group Soul Star. As a fan of the R&B and soul genre, Wheesung has kept a close relationship with the members of Soul Star as representatives of Korea’s R&B genre. Upon hearing about Soul Star’s comeback, Wheesung had offered to produce a song together, which they readily accepted.
His collaboration with Seungwoo is titled “Would I Catch a Cold” and is described to be a traditional ballad that meshes the best of Wheesung and Seungwoo’s vocals. Wheesung will also be showing a bit of his rap skills in the song as well.
This single will mark his first official duet release since his 2004 collaboration with Se7en for “She’s Mine“.
A representative of Soul Star expressed, “Wheesung wanted to present a song for Soul Star after hearing about their comeback. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to complete the song before his enlistment because of his busy schedule and worsening health. A friend of the two artists, producer Choi Kap Won, completed the song to perfection.”

16 November:
Last week, singer Wheesung bid farewell to the K-Pop industry as he withdrew to serve his country and fulfill his military duties. Fans who’ve been waiting for a glimpse of the star in uniform finally got what they wished for today, thanks to some savvy netizens.
Wheesung is seen decked out in standard uniform, as he raises a fist to show his ‘fighting’ spirit along with his unit. The look of determination on his face drew compliments from netizens, who remarked that even though he was serving in the army, he managed to exude a strong charisma.
Netizens commented, “He exudes a strong soldier vibe (very different from his usual stage presence)”, “He already looks like a good soldier”, and “He looks exactly the same — still handsome”.
7 November:
Popular artist Wheesung left the entertainment world on November 7th to begin his 2-year military service, leaving his fans with a final message.
“Even though I’m not an idol singer, I am very thankful. Please wait 2 years. I’ll return your thanks with good music,” he said, performing a salute with his short-cropped hair in front of his waiting fans.
“I’m very calm. It will be a good opportunity to start the second phase of my life,” he said, commenting on his feelings. “I had a concert yesterday, and I think I was able to sleep better than my first broadcast. I feel even better, since I’m heading into the army after receiving much love.”
Wheesung also thanked his fellow celebrities. “Many celebrities called me to offer supporting messages. Gummy especially told me she was going to cry. Hearing these messages, it really makes me think I’ve led a good life. Thank you.”
To the question of “Which girl group you would like to see visit”, Wheesung answered, “Since I’m close with Sunny, I’m hoping that SNSD can come to visit. I’ll definitely repay the favor later, so I’d like them to come visit.”
Fellow artist Kim Tae Woo and company representative Tae Jin Ah came to see him off, as well. “His military experience will be a big help for his musical career post-army,” they said. “When he comes back, he will be able to focus solely on his music.”
Although Wheesung was waived from active duty earlier due to his shoulder injury, he was cleared to serve actively after regular treatment and exercise.
25 October:
Prior to his military enlistment, popular artist Wheesung took the time to sit back and reflect on his achievements.
The singer, who recently made his last comeback for the next two years with “They Are Coming“, said the comeback didn’t meet his expectations. “For what was supposed to be the end note to 10 years of being a singer, this feels somewhat not up to par,” he said. “But that also means ‘I will continue’, so it’s not exactly a bad thing. There’s a lot things over the past 10 years that I felt unsatisfied towards, but since it seems that everything I had done was right, I have no regrets.“
Wheesung also expressed his disappointment over his frail health. “Looking back, I don’t think my body follows my resolve. This time as well, I was very sick. It’s getting somewhat better, but it’s a shame that I had to end promotions early.”
To his fans, he said, “I will return with a new image after my short absence. I hope everyone will stay healthy.”
Wheesung will have his final performance on the October 23rd episode of SBS‘s ‘Inkigayo‘.
23 October:
Singer Wheesung has announced that he’ll be concluding his comeback promotions early due to a severe gastric ulcer.
Wheesung’s representative told Star News on October 21st that, “It’s a shame, but he will wrap up his last stage performance this weekend. His health has been improving, but we received recommendations from the hospital that he should rest for about a week before his enlistment.”
Yet despite the hospital’s advice, Wheesung plans to continue with preparations for his last concert, which he promised to his fans. He’ll be performing alongside Kim Tae Woo on November 6th, and the day after, he’ll be joining the military camp in Cheongnam.
Wheesung will also be holding his final music show stage on October 23rd through SBS‘s ’Inkigayo‘.
17 October:
Representatives of Wheesung have revealed that the singer’s condition has improved, and so he’ll be able to complete his promotions as planned before his army enlistment.
As reported previously, Wheesung was diagnosed with an acute gastric ulcer and was recommended one week of rest. Because it was his comeback week, however, Wheesung opted to show his fighting spirit instead by completing all of his scheduled broadcast appearances.
On October 17th, representatives revealed, “Wheesung has shown strong determination to promote his album. Fortunately, his health has improved greatly so we believe he will be able to attend everything that is scheduled for the week.”
They continued, “He isn’t receiving treatment at a hospital at the moment but is resting at home. He will be receiving outpatient treatment while preparing for his concert and working on Ailee‘s songs.”
14 October:
Earlier, we reported that Wheesung had been diagnosed with acute gastric ulcer and had been advised to a one week hospital stay. Due to his health, Wheesung was forced to settle to lip sync“They are Coming” for his ‘M! Countdown’ performance.
However, despite the severe stomach pain he was experiencing, he managed to pull off a live performance on ‘Music Bank’ demonstrating his fighting spirit.
Although he didn’t seem to be doing well during his rehearsals, Wheesung gave it his all during his live performance after seeing the fans who had come to cheer him on. His agency stated, “After he finishes his performance, Wheesung will be going to the hospital to get some rest.. The hospital has recommended that he gets plenty of rest.”
It was reported that even up to the point before he was scheduled to go on stage, Wheesung was suffering from stomach pains. Although the hospital concluded that much rest was needed for the singer, he showed his fighting spirit and his determination by carrying out his schedule.
His agency expressed their concern, stating, “In addition to the stomach pains he has been experiencing, he has also contracted a cold that has left him fatigued, and had to go to the hospital… It seems that his accumulating exhaustion with preparation for his comeback and performances before his military service, is the reason behind the condition of his health… It’s heartbreaking to see him having to go up on stage [in this condition].”
Wheesung revealed his album on October 10th and plans to promote for 2 to 3 weeks before enlisting in mandatory military service on November 7th.
13 October:
Singer Wheesung is known for being able to pull off perfect live performances. Unfortunately, it’s been revealed that his comeback stage on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’ will see him lip-sync his new song, ‘They are Coming”.
Wheesung’s representatives told SSTV that the star made a trip to the hospital yesterday for an acute gastric ulcer. The ulcer weakened his ability to deliver the results he was looking for, so it was decided that he would lip-sync instead.
“Because he couldn’t let go of his desire to sing live, he tried singing several times. However, because of the state of his health, he couldn’t achieve a result that satisfied him… After negotiating with the production team, we decided to go ahead and record with an AR (‘All Record’: includes vocals + music accompaniment) instead of a MR (‘Music Record’: only includes the music accompaniment).”
The recording was originally scheduled to include “They are Coming” and one more song off his recently released album. However, Wheesung was only able to record for “They are Coming” with the AR before having to make another trip to the hospital, where he was told that he needed to be admitted for a full week.
His agency stated, “Wheesung is insisting that he will sing the other track [without lip-syncing]… We will have to see how his condition is after other groups finish recording, in order to decide whether to proceed with the recording [of the other track].”
Make sure to check out Wheesung’s comeback stage on ‘M! Countdown’ later today!
12 October:
Wheesung‘s latest single “They Are Coming“ has climbed the online mobile caller ring charts to first place!
This is all the more meaningful as “They Are Coming” is Wheesung’s last album before entering mandatory army training. The single is reported to have immediately climbed charts after its release. Songs from ‘Superstar K Season 3‘ as well as ‘I Am a Singer‘ follow close behind.
A representative stated, “Wheesung in particular has mandatory enlistment after ‘They Are Coming’, fans and the general audience seem to be giving a lot more interest because of this.”
Wheesung will be making his comeback on the 13th KST on ‘M!Countdown‘.

Wheesung planned to enlist in South Korea’s mandatory military training this year. It seems that Wheesung has finally decided to enlist as it’s being reported he will enter Choong Chungnam army base on November 7th at 1PM KST.
Apparently, Wheesung has been visiting the hospital often to measure his health as he intended on joining the army as an active duty serviceman. He stated, “I visited the hospital because I wanted to enlist with a healthy body, but the doctor told me that with my body’s condition, I would not be able to.”
Wheesung added, “Though it hurts a bit, I want to serve as an active duty soldier so I’ll be going to the hospital often for treatment.”
29 September:
Singer Wheesung promised his fans that he would come back with an album, and it looks like he’ll be keeping that promise. The star will be making a comeback on October 10th with a new work called, “He Is Coming“.
He released “Heartbreaking Story” towards the beginning of the year, and enjoyed success as it reached #1 on a few music programs. During the time he’s been away, Wheesung has been performing the ‘TWO MEN SHOW‘ with singer Kim Tae Woo and also producing rookie singer Ailee‘s album. Despite his hectic schedule, he’s managed to consistently work on his own album so that he could keep the promise he made with his fans.
His new track was written by the legendary Kim Do Hoon and according to Wheesung’s management, the songs on this new album are more dramatic than “Heartbreaking Story” and have a Hip Hop and R&B feel. Fans are sure to once again fall in love with his uniquely sensual voice.
27 September:
Singer Wheesung will be making his comeback next month in October.
Wheesung featured in Yong Jun Hyung‘s “Heartbreaking Story” this past March, and made decisions to comeback after the song’s release. However, due to concert plans and song composition, the album’s release was delayed. After much preparation, Wheesung has revealed that the music video for his comeback single is being filmed.
He stated, “Due to the ‘Two Man Show‘ with Kim Tae Woo and producing for other new artists, my album’s release was delayed, but I’m currently filming a music video. I plan on continuing the ‘Two Man Show’ with Kim Tae Woo.”
14 September:
Singer Wheesung has announced that he’ll be releasing his final album before his army enlistment next month.
On September 14th, representatives of his agency revealed, “Wheesung is currently planning to release a new mini-album around the beginning of next month. He’s traded in his Chuseok holiday to spend nights working on his final recordings.”
The mini-album will be comprised of five songs, four them of being self-composed. His title track is the work of hit composer Kim Do Hoon and is described to be easygoing.
Although he previously revealed that he was planning for a September 23rd comeback, Wheesung decided that this would be his last work before his enlistment at the end of the year. As such, he expressed a desire in wanting it to be the absolute best.
He’s also training his protege Ailee and is working on her debut album, so he’s spending busy days and nights in the recording studio.
Representatives continued, “Ailee is preparing to debut by the end of the year. Not only is her album being produced by Wheesung, but it’ll also contain a few tracks from him as well.”

23 April:On yesterday’s episode of “Music Bank“, Kim Tae Woo collaborated with Wheesung for a special rap performance of “Words That Freeze My Heart“.
Hilariously, a live broadcast mistake resulted from the collaboration, as Wheesung burst out into laughter after watching Kim Tae Woo stumble with his rap. Being a vocalist, Kim Tae Woo was unable to keep up with the pace and so he stumbled over his words.
Through K-Will’s Twitter, Wheesung later apologized for laughing. “I’ll be saying this in place of Wheesung since he doesn’t have a Twitter. We would like to apologize to everyone for failing to train our bear!”
Meanwhile, on his mini-homepage, Kim Tae Woo wrote, “Bear Tae Woo tried to rap for the first time in 12 years in order to help out my friend Wheesung. Unfortunately, it was a fail. But still Wheesung, don’t you think that you laughed too hard~? I mustered the bravery to rap for you. I’m sorry and I love you, my friend. Wheesung forever!”
Netizens commented, “I laughed along with him”, “This wasn’t Music Bank, it was Gag Bank”, “Wheesung is a person too, he has to laugh if it’s funny”, and “Wheesung’s known to be a professional, so imagine how funny it was.”

On April 19th, a representative from Wheesung’s agency made a statement, “At the time, a man went up to the stage and attacked Wheesung. He considered it as just a minor incident and responded to it calmly and completed his performance.”
The representative continued angrily, “Thankfully, Wheesung was not injured but we did not receive any words of apology from the broadcasting company in charge of the performance. It was not an informal event; it was a rather big performance hosted by a broadcasting company and we wonder why the security was so loose. All singers, not just Wheesung, are participating in minor events around the nation but their security is compromised due to this lackadaisical environment.”
While Wheesung was performing “With Me” on April 8th, the assailant calmly walked onto the stage and tried to kick the singer. Though it was obviously a jarring moment, Wheesung was able to regard the incident in a cool manner, and managed to showcase his professionalism by finishing his performance.
Considering the shock everyone felt after Taeyeon’s abduction incident, Wheesung’s experience caused an increase demand for tighter security.
Wheesung has officially deleted his Twitter account.
On April 7th, the singer tweeted for the last time, “Hello Twitter friends and fans~ I hope you’ll all be healthy and hope for the best. I’m deleting my Twitter account! I love you all.”
It currently shows that Wheesung’s account ‘realslow1982’ is deleted. He did not directly reveal why he deleted his account, but it can be inferred that this action was influenced by the massive hate comments the singer received from making his radiation rain statement.
Because of the nuclear power plant issue in Japan, Korea is receiving its own minute dose of radiation. Many government officials have been trying to calm the public’s fears by stating that radiation mixed in rain is not at all harmful. However, the public, including Wheesung himself, does not believe the government officials, which led him to make his controversial statement.
Wheesung tweeted earlier, “There’s such little amount of radiation in rain, so there shouldn’t be any health effects. Rather than persuade the public with thousands of words, take pictures of [yourself] in the rain with your mouth open. I think everything will be settled then.”
He later hinted that he was receiving lots of hate comments by tweeting, “I’m being cursed at again“, and quickly deleted his Twitter account.
25 Maret:Wheesung has just released a second version of the MV for “Words that Freeze My Heart“, from his self-composed, self-produced mini-album. This version cuts out the actors/actresses, and focuses on Wheesung’s choreography and B2ST’s Junhyung.
Despite the difficulties he faced as a solo, independent artist, Wheesung’s comeback has been largely successful, sweeping online charts and earning him a 1st place win on M! Countdown.

24 Maret:Over the past few years, Wheesung revealed that he had endured his fair share of hardships in his career. Although he’s made a fantastic comeback with “Words That Freeze My Heart“, the process leading up to it was a long and arduous one.
The singer left his first home, YG Entertainment, in 2006, and so took over writing, composing, choreography, and producing all on his own. But with the emergence of idol groups, broadcast opportunities dwindled and he began to think that he was falling behind.
He explained, “I didn’t have enough for production, so I couldn’t write or make anything, and I had to cut costs for my music videos as much as possible. In the midst of all of that, my popularity began falling, and every single day for me was like death. I had to go through that for four years, and honestly, it was extremely difficult.”
Lost and confused, he sought the support of senior Tae Jin Ah last October, and told him all of the troubles he was carrying. After listening to his story, Tae Jin Ah took Wheesung to his own entertainment agency, Jin Ah Productions, and introduced him to Eru, Maya, and many other artists by saying, “He is now our new family member.” The senior had formally taken him under his own wings.
Wheesung quickly grew under the warm wings of his new mentor, and finally, on March 15th, the singer overcame all obstacles and released his latest single, “Words That Freeze My Heart.”
He said, “I tried to shed off as much as I could and start anew. I consider it a success if people remember at least one portion of my song after listening to it. I realized that pursuing too much at once puts me at risk of losing everything.”
With a fresh start underway, he revealed his future goal to be, “I want to be a singer that stands at the center of the music industry. Even though this is my 10th anniversary this year, I feel like I’ve only just finished preparing myself. I don’t know what it feels like to be 30 years old because I’m at a clean slate now with zero points.”
16 Maret: A picture from the set of Wheesung’s music video for “Words That Freeze My Heart” has recently been circling the web, and fans were pleased to see Wheesung, Park Hee Soon, B2ST’s Junhyung, and Jung Eun Chae smiling brightly for the shot.
Wheesung revealed that he sent out an emergency S.O.S message to everyone he knew in order to cast Park Hee Soon for the music video. After finally reaching contact, Park Hee Soon readily agreed and helped him find the leading female role, which turned out to be Jung Eun Chae.
In order to further perfect the song, he brought in junior Junhyung, and praised, “Junhyung is an extremely talented junior that knows precisely how to control the tempo between emotions and reason.”Upon hearing the casting offer, Junhyung set aside his busy schedule and immediately set out to lend a hand to Wheesung’s music video.
Wheesung will be making his first comeback through Mnet’s “M! Countdown” on March 17th.
15 Maret: Earlier today, Wheesung released the MV for his comeback track, ”Words That Freeze My Heart“. The full mini-album has finally been released, and its title track has gone on to sweep various online music charts like Mnet, Melon, Dosirak, and Naver.
The entire mini-album was written and produced by Wheesung, but he received help for his title track from composer Kim Do Hoon and B2ST’s Junhyung. Netizens have been praising the hot ballad track for its strong beat, orchestrated melody, Wheesung’s husky voice, and Junhyung’s stylish rap.

10 Maret: Singer Wheesung is finally preparing to break his 7 month hiatus with his comeback track, “Words That Freeze My Heart“.
On March 15th, singer Wheesung officially made his return with the release of his title track, “Words That Freeze My Heart,” featuring B2ST’s Junhyung!
Wheesung’s single album contains a total of three tracks, “Maybe,” “Person I Know,” and “Words That Freeze My Heart,” all of which were composed, written, and produced entirely by him. Not only that, but the multi-talented singer even directed his album concept, performance, and music video.
The title track features a strong beat with an impressive orchestrated melody that works to bring out the sorrow in Wheesung’s deep voice. B2ST’s Junhyung also makes a guest feature with an addictive rap part that connects to a piano solo, which gives the song a more dramatic effect.
