On June 17th, the cast of the upcoming horror film “Cats: Two Eyes That See Death” held a production conference at the Ewha Women’s University.
As previously reported, the movie is centered around cats and a suspicious death that occurs at a pet shop. Actress Park Min Young began, “This is my first movie role in my five year-long career, so I’m very excited for it. As it is a horror film, I had to scream a lot. Still, it isn’t a movie that portrays cats in a negative light.”
When asked to share an episode from the film set, she revealed, “I love to laugh so it’s always difficult for me on film sets, but since this movie is a horror film, the atmosphere of the set was naturally dark. I tried to match myself to it by getting into the mood by listening to music.”
On cats in general, she said, “Their coyness is definitely their charm. Through the movie, I did consider wanting to raise a cat.”
When asked how she felt about other horror releases this year like “White” and “Gisaeng Ryung“, she replied, “From what I know, we began filming our movie first.”
Jokingly, she sighed and added, “I heard that there wouldn’t be a lot of horror releases this year, but there’s more and more coming out by the day. Horror movies in Korea in general went through a period of stagnation, so this is definitely something positive. Instead of competing against each other, we should enjoy the variety in genres. There’s more meaning in improvement, so I hope we all achieve great success.”
With a laugh, she concluded, “But still, I hope to take the position of ‘horror queen’ of the Summer.”
“Cats” will hit theaters on July 7th.

10 June:
Park Min Young is gearing up to become a ‘horror queen’ this summer after she landed the lead role for the upcoming horror film, “Cat: Two Eyes That See Death“.
The movie is Korea’s first ever horror flick revolving around cats. Park Min Young will be playing the role of a pet shop groomer named ‘Soyeon’, who becomes haunted by the cats she lives with after she witnessed a suspicious death.
Park Min Young actually lives with two dogs of her own, so it took her a bit of time to get used to her new role. As a lover of animals, however, she handled the cats on set like a pro and even personally apologized to them when she felt they were agitated.
She commented, “Having to act as a character who feels scared of cats when they’re actually so lovely feels awkward. This was my first time having to deal with cats, but now I’m completely in love with them. We are working with a great vet on set, and the health of the cats are always our priority.”
“Cat” will hit theaters this July.

Actress Park Min Young has finished filming her first horror movie, “Cat“.
She started filming last December, and on March 9th, she concluded her final cut. She is anticipated to be this summer’s ‘horror queen’ and viewers are already excited to see this scary movie.
“Cat” is about an average woman named Sohee in her 20’s who works in a pet shop. As she begins interacting with one specific cat, she becomes surrounded by mysterious feline deaths.
“Cat” will be Park Min Young’s first film, and she expressed that she feels quite excited to see the finished product. “Because this is my first movie, I put my heart and soul into it. I’m somewhat happy and sad that I have to leave ‘Sohee’, who I’ve played for the last three months. It was hard portraying my character’s psychological disturbances. A doll the staff made for me to focus better is especially memorable. I’m looking forward to viewing the movie, for which the staff and director suffered [during its difficult filming]“.
The movie is currently scheduled to open this summer, and the actress is gearing up to film her next drama, “City Hunter“.
