Gong Yoo kicked off the tour in Fukuoka on December 7th and went on to meet fans in Nagoya on the 9th, Shinagawa on the 10th, and at Tokyo’s Budokan on the 12th.
When the actor arrived in Shinagawa, he was surprised to see fans surround the station. He paused briefly to greet them before working through the crowd. Additionally, Gong Yoo was even able to recognize certain fans who’ve been supporting him for years, leading some to shed tears over his thoughtfulness.
Gong Yoo stated, “I never expected such a turnout, so I was really surprised to see them waiting for me. I recognized a lot of familiar faces so it was welcoming for me. It’s been a year since my last visit to Tokyo so I’m grateful to be back. I’ll return the favor by holding a fun fan meet.”
Gong Yoo will be wrapping up his tour at the Budokan on the 12th before returning to Korea.
6 Sept:
Knowing that Gong Yoo has starred with some of Korea’s top female actresses including Jung Yoo Jin, Im Soo Jung, and Yoon Eun Hye; reporters couldn’t resist to ask the question, “Who is your ideal type?” Gong Yoo started to laugh and replied, “Kang In Ho (main character) will answer that question.”
Gong Yoo then commented that Jung Yoo Jin’s perfect characteristics could be a little overwhelming. In regards to Im Soo Jung’s innocent appeal, Gong Yoo replied, “Innocent women could also be a bit boring“. Finally, Gong Yoo admitted that if he had to choose an ideal type, he would want to meet a tomboy. Yoon Eun Hye was a tomboy in Coffee Prince, so the reporters assumed he was talking about her.
However, Gong Yoo stressed to the reporters, “What I just said is not directly targeted to Yoon Eun Hye, so please don’t write otherwise” which caused everyone to laugh.
On a side note, ‘Crucible‘ is a movie based on a true story about disabled students mistreated by the principal and teachers alike at a handicapped school. The movie will open in theaters on September 22nd.
27 June:
On June 25th, Gong Yoo, a spokesmodel for ‘Mango Six‘, a dessert specialty cafe in Korea, held a fan meeting/signing event.
Fans hoarded the cafe to get a glimpse of Gong Yoo even in the pouring rain and heat before the signing event began.
Those who entered the cafe when the doors opened at 11AM, were given a specific number to enter the fan signing on a first-come-first-serve basis. Unfortunately the tickets were sold-out in a matter of 5 minutes. Luckily, Gong Yoo held the signing event for 30 minutes longer than the expected hour to greet those who weren’t able to get in, which displayed his tremendous professionalism.
Gong Yoo’s popularity was apparent when many fans from Japan flew to Korea in order to attend this signing event with some dedicated fans who even waited for the doors to open since 3AM in the morning.
He expressed his gratitude when he said, “It was nice seeing my fans this close-up since it’s been quite a while. I thank everyone who came out even in this horrible rainy weather.”
Meanwhile, Gong Yoo has finished filming for his new movie, ‘Do Ga Ni‘.

‘Mango Six’ is a newly opened café which sells a variety of juices, ice cream, and coffee, and is owned and operated by NOA Entertainment. Since Gong Yoo is known for his role in the hit MBC drama, “1st Shop of Coffee Prince“, the company felt that Gong Yoo would be the best image model for the franchise.
One of the representative from ‘Mango Six’ revealed, “Of course Gong Yoo is popular mainly from “Coffee Prince”, however we are going to try and make him even more popular by using him as a fresh new image for the franchise.”
In the meantime, Gong Yoo has been busy filming for his new movie, “Melting Pot“, and is planning to film new CFs for ‘Mango Six’ soon after.
