On May 17th, SNSD was a hot issue on various online communities and Twitter. The reason for this was because they made an appearance at a music festival at Hanyang University.
SNSD captivated their audience by performing to ‘Gee’, ‘Run Devil Run’, ‘Oh!’, and ‘Hoot’. It was said that SNSD came back to Korea in between their busy Japanese promotions just to perform at the festival.
Also, the response to SNSD’s performance was simply amazing.
One netizen stated, “At this age, I never knew I would go back to the college I graduated from just to see SNSD. I never went anywhere just to see celebrities, but I waited 3 hours just to see SNSD.”
Another netizen stated, “It was so hectic that I thought Hanyang University was going to collapse. It was as though when the girls came out, all the students had an out of body experience. Also, when SNSD sang ‘Gee’ I was reminded of the military because of all the guys singing along to it.”
Other netizens commented, “I thought I was at some photography convention. Everyone here brought very high end cameras and camcorders. So much so that I was too embarrassed to film with my cell phone.” “It was a good thing no one got hurt despite the large mass of people.” “Even though the other singers were good, SNSD was the winner and simply stood out above the rest.”

6 Mei:
In Korea, May 5th is Children’s Day, and what better day to do a children’s interview?!
Well Dispatch did just that with popular girl group SNSD as the guests. Despite their busy schedules, all nine members of SNSD gathered together to participate in the interview.
SNSD showed much professionalism as they answered a string of questions from small children. They received a variety of questions, from their phone numbers to why they wear shorts – even about who they prefer between SHINee and Super Junior. The members matched every question as they explained simply and carefully for the children to understand.
Check out the interview video and translation below!
===
===
Question 1: SNSD noonas (older sister), why do you cry every time you win 1st place?”
SNSD: “Hello. We’re SNSD.”
Tiffany: “Do we cry every time we get 1st place? Yes, I think so.”
Yuri: “Of the nine, I think at least one of us always cries.”
Tiffany & Hyoyeon: “Every time we get first place, I think we cry because we are so happy and our hearts are filled with joy.”
Question 2: “Sooyoung noona, since your name is Sooyoung, are you good at ’soo young’ (swimming)?”
SNSD: “No! She can’t! Sooyoung can’t swim!”
Sooyoung: “However, my name doesn’t come from the sport, swimming. The ‘Soo’ is from ‘exceptional’ and the ‘young’ is from ‘honor’. When you guys get older, you will start to learn Chinese characters. As you learn the Chinese characters, you will find out the meaning of my name. It has nothing to do with swimming, but if all the children want, I’m thinking about learning to swim starting this summer. Please cheer me on!”
Question 3: “SNSD unnies (older sisters), I want to grow out my hair, too. What should I do to grow it out?”
Hyoyeon: “Keep thinking, ‘My hair is growing, my hair is growing..’.”
Sunny: “My hair is growing…”
Tiffany: “If you eat well, your hair will grow well.”
Yoona: “That’s true! If you eat a balanced meal and eat lots of protein, your hair will grow fast.”
Taeyeon: “I heard black beans are good.”
Tiffany: “If you listen to your parents well, it will grow faster.”
Hyoyeon: “Uhh… that’s true!”
Question 4: “Do you like SHINee better? Do you like Super Junior better? Of the two, who are you closer to?”
Tiffany: “We can’t pick!”
Taeyeon: “We like them all.”
Hyoyeon: “Super Junior members are cool oppas (older brothers). And SHINee members are cool juniors…
Tiffany: “So we can’t pick, right?”
Hyoyeon: “Right!”
Question 5: “SNSD noonas, what are your phone numbers? Give me your cellphone numbers.”
Yuri: “1004~ Noona’s number is 1004~” (In Korea, 1004 spells out chunsa, which also means ‘angel’)
Yoona: “010~”
Tiffany: “My number is _ _ _~ _ _ _ _.”
Sooyoung: “More than greeting you through phone, us noonas get much more help when you watch us and cheer us on when we are on stage. Young children, please cheer on SNSD.”
Question 6: Why do you only wear shorts, even during the winter? Aren’t you cold?
Sooyoung: “We are cold. (Looking at Jessica.) It’s cold, right?”
Jessica: “Yes, it’s cold. Very.”
Hyoyeon: “It’s because it matches well with the song and looks pretty…”
Sunny: “It’s also to make us look healthy.”
Yoona: “When we’re not on stage, we wear long pants.”
Tiffany: “When we’re not on stage, we wear many layers!”
Yuri: “Young children, don’t copy us and wear shorts when it’s cold outside. Wear long pants and always take care of your health.”
Question 7: SNSD noonas, do you get nervous when you go up on stage? When are you the most nervous?”
Sooyoung: “When are we the most nervous? I think we’re most nervous right before they reveal 1st place. When we are performing on stage, we enjoy the stage, so we get the most nervous right before they reveal 1st place… And I think we cry more because we are nervous.”
Jessica: “Yes. That’s true.”
Sunny: Young children, stay healthy and listen to your parents and teachers. Get along with your friends. Also, please give lots and lots of love to SNSD.
SNSD: Young children, bye~ Right now is SNSD. I love you♡”

After discussing the advertisements, reporters then unleashed a flood of questions about SNSD’s fellow Hallyu group, KARA. To these sudden questions, SNSD displayed a perplexed expression, and the members eventually had to leave the event without answering.

The hit composers of E-TRIBE, who are now also the producers of Dal Shabet, praised SNSD during a recent interview with TV Report and chose them as the best idol group in the current market.
They stated, “We don’t believe there’s a solo artist up to par with Rain or Lee Hyori in the current music industry. In the case of idol groups, after TVXQ, SNSD has been the only group that has been able to perfect a variety of different images.”
They went on to choose SNSD as the best artists who were able to ‘give life’ to music through the combination of dancing, singing, and performing. “There are many good songs, but it’s only when a song is able to fit perfectly with an artist’s unique concept that it shows its true power.”
E-TRIBE continued,”After creating a mega hit with ‘Gee,’ the girls succeeded once more with a completely new style through ‘Genie.’ Same goes for ‘Oh!‘ and ‘Hoot.’ They show growth, as well as infinite potential. We never know what new style they will be putting out.”
They concluded, “We believe that SNSD is the only idol group after TVXQ to be able to pull off a variety of styles and give life to a song’s potential. They fit best with the nickname ‘a thousand faces’.”
