Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook

Singer G.NA was dubbed as the ‘queen of college festivals’ during the most recent episode of ‘Yoo Hee Yeol‘s Sketchbook‘.
G.NA revealed, “Over a month and a half, I performed at 82 different college festivals. There was even a time when I attended five festivals in one day.” To this, Yoo Hee Yeol humorously stated, “During my career of twenty years, I think I’ve stood on stage for one small college lecture.
She also chose the army base as her favorite place to perform. She stated, “When I perform at army bases, the audience is so energetic it helps me overcome any tired feelings.

The nation’s little sister IU tossed aside her adorable charms and displayed her swag with a pair of sunglasses and a red leather jacket.
On the May 25th episode of KBS ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘, IU put on a powerful dance performance of Rain‘s “Rainism“.
The singer confidently pulled off each trademark move without appearing awkward, but looked extremely embarrassed when sitting with MC Yoo Hee Yeol after her stage performance.
The dance was awesome, much better than Rain (pause)… the backdancers, I mean,” the MC joked, causing IU’s face to further grow red to match her jacket.
IU was amazing too. Your braided hair made me feel as though I was watching a scene out of a historical drama,” he continued to joke, trying to make IU feel less nervous.
I’m so bewildered right now. [The nerves] made me physically sick,” IU said, giving a bashful smile.
IU also delivered a performance of her self-composed song, “Peach“, earning the praise of the audience members.

On April 20th, 2BiC guested on KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and performed their debut title track, “I Made Another Girl Cry“, in addition to revealing their faces for the very first time!
Moments after their performance aired, online community boards were rushed with MR-removed versions of their performance, earning the high praise of netizens everywhere. Their perfect live skills shown right through, especially with Jihwan‘s three high notes that rang the hearts of listeners everywhere.
Netizens commented, “I’m getting goose bumps just listening to it”, “They’re amazing even though they’re just rookies“, “I tried singing this song at a karaoke and failed“, and “Their perfect live skills are like candy to my ears!“.

Male idol band CNBLUE guest-featured on the latest airing of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘.
Lead vocalist Jung Yonghwa shared how he resolved an internal conflict that arose between himself and the company.
MC Yoo Hee Yeol asked, “As a band, you guys probably want to try powerful and intense music, but your company most likely wants you to pursue music that appeals to the masses. How do you feel about this?”
As a matter of fact, we wanted to change our style a little bit,” Yonghwa said. “But our agency wanted us to maintain our current style. I got really upset.”
Our head representative caught on that I was upset, and he personally took me out to eat rib eye BBQ at a place in Chungdamdong,” he continued. “He said that we should try and work hard with the opportunities given to us members.”

Former H.O.T member and business man Tony An put on a surprise performance of “Candy” on Yoo Hee Yeol‘s ‘Sketchbook‘.
On the ‘Youth Night’ special of ‘Sketchbook’ that aired on March 23rd, Tony and his group,Tony&SM☆SH stood on stage for a very special performance.
The boys put on a perfect rendition of H.O.T’s hit song “Candy”, dressed in the classic hats and gloves, causing some older audience members and viewers to become nostalgic.
Tony proved that not only did he have that same vocal strength and stage presence, his youthful image hadn’t changed a bit since 16 years ago.
Some other legendary figures such as Kim Gun Mo, Kim Hyun Jung, Kim Jo Han, Hyun Jin Young, and more also performed, check out their performances below.

Sung Si Kyung and music director Kang Seung Won guest-featured on an episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘, that aired March 9th.
Ballad singer Sung Si Kyung, who offered big laughs with his Avatar parody on the Christmas special of ‘Sketchbook’ was asked, “Did your parody affect your image as a ballad singer?”
The singer confidently answered, “I only did it because I wanted to.”
After the program aired, a lot of people seemed to assume I was planning on folding my singing career altogether,” he half joked. “But my seniors were doing what they could to offer laughs to the audience, so I couldn’t remove myself from the situation.”

Singer Park Ji Yoon will be performing one of her extremely popular classics, “Adult Ceremony“, on the next episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘.
Park Ji Yoon has spent the last 12 years trying to break free from her “Adult Ceremony” image, but the reason she is choosing to perform it now is quite simple – the public wanted it.
During the shoot for the episode, Park Ji Yoon, who returned to the K-pop scene with a more calm and mellow style of music, looked as beautiful as ever.
A lot of people think I look intimidating and hard to approach, but the people around me know that I have a really open and down-to-earth personality,” she said.
The singer earned a warm applause from the audience, singing comfortably with her guitar in hand.
Park Ji Yoon’s first “Adult Ceremony” performance in 12 years will air on March 10th at 12:15AM KST.

Singer Yoo Hee Yeol sang the praises of rookie John Park who recently made his official debut.
On the most recent episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘, Yoo Hee Yeol revealed that he was both proud and jealous of John Park.
He’s extremely good looking, and his voice is extremely good too, melting the hearts of ladies,” Yoo Hee Yeol said. The MC, who also invited John to help host the ‘ManJiDa’ corner of ‘Sketchbook’ last year, added, “The more I see him, the more proud I become.”
When asked what kind of person Yoo Hee Yeol was to him, John revealed his wish to develop a closer bond with the musician, stating, “He’s a musician I highly respect, but also someone I would like to be able to call ‘hyung’”.
John sang his title song “Falling” on the show, as well as Michael Jackson‘s “Man in the Mirror“, and Kim Dong Ryul‘s “Why Is It So“.

Tiger JK caused the ‘Sketchbook‘ audience to roar in laughter after making an unexpected confession about his marriage.
Hip hop artist Tiger JK and singer Brian Joo guest-featured on the February 24th episode of KBS‘ ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and discussed dating and marriage.
Brian began by saying, “After being deeply hurt by a former girlfriend, I wondered what it would be like to live alone, and spent the last five years alone. This is comfortable for me.
MC Yoo Heel Yeol then remarked, “You keep at that, and later you’ll start talking to your plants,” causing the audience to begin laughing. Tiger JK went a step further and added, “I have conversations with the wall. Make sure you date a lot, and marry late.”
When Brian asked Tiger JK about the upsides to marriage, Tiger responded, “Your thoughts begin to change, and you begin to broaden your perspective. You also begin to think a lot more.”
Once you have a kid, that’s the end. It’s really hard. I love my wife and my child, but it’s really hard,” he continued.
When Brian began having negative thoughts about marriage, Tiger JK attempted to change Brian’s mind.
No, but when you come home after a long day to your wife that’s snoring away…“, he said without finishing his sentence. His attempt to change Brian’s mind was highly unsuccessful, causing the audience to continue roaring in laughter.

K.Will (30) revealed a story behind his never-changing young look on the recent broadcast of ‘Sketchbook‘.

Host Yoo Hee Yeol commented, “K.Will’s looks never change. You looked like this when you were a trainee in Lee Seung Hwan‘s company, Dream Factory. Strong and steady.”
K.Will responded, “I’ve had this steadiness since junior high school. There are a lot of people who think I’m young because of my late debut.”
The singer revealed that in the past, he was often thought of as being much older than he actually was by most people. He stated, “The world was generous to me for there weren’t many people who talked informally to me. Even during middle school, I was frequently mistaken for a soldier in the army,” - causing the set to laugh burst out in laughter.

Singer Jang Jae In appeared on the February 25th broadcast of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and relayed an anecdote about her first time going to a club.

She revealed, “A while ago, I went to a club. Because I was shy about anyone approaching me, I was just standing with a bottle of beer in both of my hands when I felt someone tap me and say that he would buy me a drink“. She continued, “Maybe it was because it was my first time experiencing such a thing, but he was so cool“.
However, Jang Jae In was unable to spend a lot of time with the mystery man, as she lamented, “The stylist unnis I went with told me that I couldn’t go with him because I’m famous. They said that it would make me look poor“. She continued on, confessing, “After I did reject him, I started having feelings of regret“, which brought laughs from the audience.
Also on this broadcast with Jang Jae In was her producer, Kim Hyung Seok, who impressed with his witty responses.

On the February 18th episode of KBS2‘s ‘Yoo Heel Yeol’s Sketchbook‘, ballad singer Lyn performed a charming rendition of Girls’ Generation‘s “The Boys“.
The singer looked stunning on stage as she delivered a soulful cover in a short one-piece dress. The audience couldn’t help but smile when Lyn began with an a capella intro before serving a bossa nova twist. The end result had fans cheering and applauding wildly for Lyn, who proved once again her ability to inflect color and soul into any song.

16 December:

Singer IU emulated Jang Woo Hyuk‘s ‘buffering dance’, unintentionally causing the audience members to explode in laughter.
On the December 16th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘, IU put on an adorable performance of “You & I“.
MC Yoo Hee Yeol asked the singer, “Have you ever discovered a hidden talent for dance?”, and the singer responded, “Senior Jang Woo Hyuk made a recent comeback with his ‘buffering dance’. I tried to do it at home, and I thought, if I just work hard, I think I too can dance.”
Yoo Hee Yeol then asked IU to show him some of her moves, and although she looked bashful, she went right into it.
But the MC and the audience could not hold back their laughter as she awkwardly, yet adorably tried to emulate Jang Woo Hyuk.
I’m thinking about using this as my signature skill,” to which MC Yoo Hee Yeol hilariously remarked, “I saw something really interesting today.”

On October 7th, veteran hip hop artist Verbal Jint guested on KBS 2TV‘s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and discussed his side-career as a voice actor as well as performing his comeback hits.
Verbal Jint is actually the voice behind quite a few popular CFs from credit cards to drinks.  With each short CF reenactment, the audience exclaimed in awe, immediately identifying the CFs with his voice.
He also went on to perform his fourth album’s title track, “You Look Happy“, while personally playing the keyboard.  His smooth yet powerful rhyme was harmonized with The Black Skirts, who made a special appearance to join him on stage.
Verbal Jint also received applause for his performance of the 2012 version of his hit song with G.NA, “Promise Me, Promise Me“, featuring vocalist Jo HyunA of Urban Zakapa.
Viewers commented, “I love his voice”, “Perfect live”, “A man of many talents”, and “Truly a talented musician.”
