2 April:
Having concluded her solo promotions for “Going Crazy” this week, SECRET’s Song Ji Eun and her labelmate rapper, Bang Yong Guk, recently met with reporters and bid their fans farewell.

From the backstage of KBS’s “Music Bank,” Ji Eun stated, “I didn’t have a lot of expectations for my solo promotions, so I’m glad that the public showed so much love for the song.  I just wish that I had a bit more time to promote it. I was sick with a cold all month long, which hindered my ability to perform at my best for my mere three weeks of promotions. I’ve definitely realized the importance of health management.”
She continued, “If there’s anything I’ve gained from this experience, it’s that I’ve learned to better express myself with the help of Bang Yong Guk. From here on out, I’ll be focusing on SECRET’s upcoming album, so please wait just two more months.”
Rapper Bang Yong Guk commented, “I’ve realized that actually being on stage is vastly different from everything I’ve rehearsed for and that I still have more to learn. If there’s anything I’m disappointed in, it’s that I wish I had written the lyrics a bit better. I knew that I didn’t express the actions of a true stalker as well as I could have, and I’m regretful that I couldn’t show more on stage.”
With a laugh, he concluded, “I’ll now be going back to my original position as a trainee. I’d like to thank all of the fans who have supported us and shown their love.”

27 Maret:
It’s already been three weeks since Song Ji Eun’s solo track, “Going Crazy“, was released, but it’s still doing strong on the charts, even ranking in the top three on Gaon’s digital chart as of March 25th.

“I never expected such a response. Our agency had initially expected to be met with a loss for the album, but pushed forward anyway. Our goal was to rank in the top 30 on digital charts, since we were just aiming to show that I had other images aside from what I show with SECRET. The response I’ve been receiving actually amazes me,” she explained.
She shouldn’t be surprised though, especially since “Going Crazy” dominated the charts the second it was released. It topped Gaon’s top 100 digital chart for the third week of March, showing a “crazy” presence everywhere it ranked. While TS Entertainment had initially planned for a two-week promotion period, the explosive response led them to extend it a bit more.
She revealed, “We’ve always done something cute and bright or something sad, like ballads. We’ve never done such a strong ballad genre before. It was really difficult for me to find my pitch during the recording. In my daily speech, I usually beat around the bush, so the lyrics were a bit difficult for me as well since it contained a lot of direct expressions.”
But through consistent practice, she was able to find her pitch and make the lyrics her own. ”It wasn’t a tone I was confident in, so I really worked hard on it. Even while promoting for ‘Shy Boy,’ I stayed up all night rehearsing because of the pressures I felt for my solo.”
The song’s haunting lyrics also worried her, since she wasn’t sure whether the public would be able to connect with it. “I was afraid the public would listen to the lyrics and shudder.”
When asked about her radical transformation, she replied, “My parents always ask me why I dyed my hair such a color and come out on TV not looking pretty. Those around me don’t really like it either. As for me, I know that I will have more opportunities to show ‘prettier sides’ in the future, so I was okay with giving that up this time in order to better express the anger and pain of my lyrics.”
She continued, “I finally feel like I’ve managed to open a door inside of me that I couldn’t before.”
“I’ve also gained an interest in acting,” she revealed. “While preparing for my solo, I realized that singing and acting both go hand in hand, especially since we have to deliver our emotions to the listeners. Working as a soloist, I need to be able to express myself through my gaze.”
Ji Eun continued, “I was always curious about how acting was done, so I observed Min Hyo Rin unni when she was acting for my music video. Thanks to her, I learned a lot.”
Moving onto the topic of variety programs, Song Ji Eun revealed, “Personally, I have an interest in working with variety programs, but I don’t feel that I have the talent for it so I don’t intend to pursue it. Acting, however, is something I do want to try.  I don’t particularly feel a connection with roles that are loved no matter what; I’d love to try someone like Uhm Ji Won in ‘Sign‘ or Eunjung in ‘Dream High‘, since they both have their own unique styles.”

22 Maret: After briefly pausing her solo activities due to a severe cold, SECRET’s Ji Eun will be returning to the stage this week!

On March 22nd, TS Entertainment spoke through Star News and revealed, “She was forced to lip-sync because of her severe cold, but her condition has improved greatly. She’s been resting, moving only to receive treatment at the hospital and return home.”
They continued, “She’ll still need some time for the final results to come out, but she will be returning to the stage within the week.”
Song Ji Eun had contracted the cold earlier in March after SECRET returned from multiple overseas schedules. The drastic changes in temperature proved to be too taxing for her body, and Ji Eun was forced to lip-sync for the very first time on an ‘M! Countdown‘ performance last week.

18 Maret: Thanks to its enormous popularity, SECRET’s Ji Eun has extended promotions for her solo debut single, “Going Crazy”.

After SECRET wrapped up their promotions for “Shy Boy”, member Song Ji Eun returned to the music scene to release her first solo work. The song quickly achieved immense popularity, and was ranked #1 in real time for both music and mobile ringtone charts.
TS Entertainment revealed, “This year, we wanted to promote her solo single for only a short period of time. However, because the response has been far better than what we had expected, we’ve decided to extend her promotions until the end of March.”
Ji Eun will return to SECRET after she concludes her solo promotions in order to work on the group’s new album. Meanwhile, rapper Bang Yong Guk will resume training for his official debut with a new male idol group, the date for which has yet to be determined.

SECRET’s Ji Eun is in the midst of promotion for her solo track, “Going Crazy“, but she’s encountered a frustrating obstacle in the form of a severe cold.

On March 18th, representatives of TS Entertainment warned, “Recently, Ji Eun went overseas with SECRET for another schedule in a country with a severe temperature difference. She caught a cold in the process. She’s struggling with her condition right now.”
Consequently, Ji Eun was forced to lip-sync during her March 17th performance on Mnet’s “M! Countdown“. It’s the first time she’s ever had to lip-sync on a music program in her entire career.
The representatives continued, “Due to her cold and condition, she had to lip-sync for the performance. She is receiving treatment at a hospital to quickly recover, so we will be trying our best to make sure that she can perform live soon.”

15 Maret:
Song Ji Eun launched her debut solo track “Going Crazy” almost two weeks ago, but she’s still setting music charts afire, even besting some of the other big name stars who began their comeback promotions around the same time.

When told of her popularity, however, Ji Eun cocked her head with confusion. “When I was just about to release the album, I thought to myself that I’d consider it a success if it even ranked in the top 50. My agency didn’t give me any pressure about music chart rankings since this album aimed to show my talent as a singer, and the image transformation I was capable of. The results are definitely better than what we all expected, so it’s a great feeling.”
In order to prepare for her solo comeback, Ji Eun revealed that she worked especially hard so that she would not falter before the pressures of going solo. She paid close attention to her facial expressions and breathing techniques, and even took piano lessons to perfect her stage.
Ji Eun explained, “Now that I’ve begun performing on TV as a solo, I’ve realized that facial expressions are extremely important. Before, I thought my live singing was the most important, and since I don’t have much experience being on my own, it really was very difficult. There were a lot of things I didn’t know about now that I’m without my group.”
She continued, “I’m still lacking a lot of things, but the aspect I’m most concerned about is my breathing. I get so nervous on live broadcasts that I can’t control it. Whenever my pitch doesn’t come out the way I want it to, it shows right away on my face.”
At the mention of her striking new hair color, she revealed, “I honestly didn’t like my hair color at first, but I knew that I had to give up the thought of ‘looking pretty’ this time (laughter). My goal was to show a different side to myself, so I’m glad that my fans enjoy it (laughter).”
The concept for “Going Crazy” is just as ‘out there’ as her hair color. Although it’s a standard ballad with traces of hip hop, the lyrics carries the song to new levels with its descriptions of a stalker-like relationship, and the inter-changing viewpoints between the man and woman involved.
She stated, “Like I said before, this song was not created to fit the norm, but rather, was meant to represent another image of myself. I wanted to leave a strong impact in the minds of the public, as well as attempt a genre that is normally hard for other idols to take on.”
Ji Eun also explained that collaborating with rapper Bang Yong Guk was a new challenge for her.“Collaborating with Yong Guk helped in bringing me out from my shell. I always thought that idols had to look at the camera and sing as prettily as possible, but working with a partner this time presented new challenges that helped a lot in bringing me out. I haven’t run into any problems in working with Yong Guk, since he’s been promoting underground for a long time.”
Ji Eun concluded the interview by discussing the future plans for herself and SECRET. “This solo album can be seen as a departure from SECRET’s original color. The other members will be beginning their own solo activities with their own colors, so please give them your love and support (laughter).”
