9 August:

Recently, there has been a lot of uproar about the levels of “obscenity” for girl groups in matters pertaining to choreography, outfits, lyrics, etc.
miss A appeared on YTN’s News and Issues program and were recently asked about the controversy.
Suzy said, “We also happen to hear a few things about vulgarity. We wish everyone would perceive what we do as artistic. Rather than thinking it as inappropriate, people should change the way they look at it. With this different viewpoint, I think it would then appear differently to them.”

Min then stated, “My thoughts are also pretty similar. Because miss A is a performing group, we must provide entertainment, whether through our visuals or sound. We try our best in those circumstances and I hope people would view it positively.”
Lastly, when asked if the issue gave the girls any concerns during their preparations, Min said, “I barely worry about things like that. I put more stress on the artistry.”

2 August:
When the ladies of miss A stopped by radio program Jeong Sun Hee’s ‘A Night Like Tonight’, they were shocked to learn that fellow girl group SNSD only consumed 900 calories per day. It led them to candidly reveal their own special ‘diet plan’.

The girls were asked by the host about which unique diet plan they were following. miss A admitted that they had no real “diet”, and that they even ate traditional korean food for dinner that night- every last delicious calorie.
Jeong Sun Hee informed them that SNSD only consumed 900 calories a day, and remarked that the girls of miss A were different from other girl groups, who are obsessed with maintaining a slim figure.Min replied to Jeong Sun Hee with, “900 calories a day? Not 900 calories per meal?”, chuckling at her own joke.
miss A later went on to add that they “enjoy eating red meat on a regular basis,” and that their “powerful dance moves are fueled by Bulgogi!”

31 July:

After securing their first win for “Good Bye Baby” on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown‘ last week, the ladies moved on to snag a complete ‘all kill’ on all three music programs! Not only did they win a ‘K-Chart‘ on KBS’s ‘Music Bank‘, but a ‘Mutizen‘ on SBS’s ‘Inkigayo‘ as well.
They’ve definitely brought back the heat first created by their debut, as they ranked on online and offline charts after only a week into their comeback. The girls thanked J.Y. Park and other staff members, before they went performed their encore stage, sharing the joy of their win with equally jubilant fans.
The members of miss A said, “It feels like a dream to be able to win #1 on all of the music programs. It was a win that we didn’t expect, which makes it all that more touching, and we’re blessed to be able to receive the love of so many people. We promise to become a miss A who works hard.”

29 July:

Through they’re just a week into their comeback, the ladies of miss A already snagged their first music program win on yesterday’s episode of Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown‘ for “Good Bye Baby“!
The girls have a shining history chock-full of awards and achievements, and they’re known for having won first place on a music program just 21 days into their debut, a remarkable feat for any rookie.
We shouldn’t be too surprised, though, as “Good Bye Baby” has been ranking in at #1 on most charts since its release.
The members of miss A made sure to thank their fans by commenting, “Thank you so much to everyone who is giving so much love to our song. The members all worked hard so we’re glad that the song is achieving good results. We promise to continue to work harder than ever and show off the best performance possible on stage.”
AQ Entertainment added, “They truly did their best on their album, but we did not think they’d win so fast. We ask that you continue to give them your love and attention.”

25 July:

From the start of their career, miss A carried a sexy yet sophisticated image that made them stand out from other girl groups around them.
Having made their return with a mature image for “Good Bye Baby“, the girls were asked if they would ever like to switch it up for a cute, ‘little sister’ concept.
The girls replied with a laugh, “We really can’t imagine that.”
Fei replied, “I’m a big fan of SECRET’s ‘Shy Boy‘. I think we’d be able to pull off a cute concept if we had to, but would that match miss A? I can’t imagine it.”
When asked if they had a particular girl group they kept tabs on during their hiatus, the girls replied, “We don’t watch TV often, so we never took a detailed look, but they all seem very talented. Rania stood out to us the most. They’re tall, sexy, and are a multi-cultural group that leaves a strong impression. We also like TEEN TOP and listened to their song, ‘Clap‘, a lot in the car.”

22 July:
The biggest rookies of 2010 have finally jumped into 2011 with their first official album, “A Class“! Having swept a number of awards last year, the girls have returned with a more mature and chic image, as well as plenty of songs to satiate their patient fans with.

They recently sat down for an interview with Mydaily to discuss their thoughts on their comeback preparations.
==
Suzy began, “We didn’t think that we’d rank first on the charts, so we’re all very glad.  I was able to feel the anticipation that our fans built while they were waiting for us, but it was also a lot of pressure. It’s only natural to be disappointed if you carry high expectations, so I was scared of our fans’ reaction in case we weren’t able to deliver as much as we had last year. I thought that it’d be fortunate if we had achieved similar results to last year’s, but I was still nervous in case we did worse. It was like laying down to sleep, but feeling like you shouldn’t be sleeping.”
Fortunately, “Good Bye Baby” is already on a roll both in album sales and with the amount of attention it’s garnering. Produced by J.Y. Park, the song is addictive in that it incorporates a hip hop rhythm with drum beats.
miss A explained, “‘Bad Girl Good Girl‘ portrayed the image of a girl complaining about love while telling men to ’shut off’.  This time, it’s about a girl who’s able to throw away a man without regrets and without feeling upset over the loss. After ‘Breathe‘, we’ve transformed into women for the first time in 10 months.  Even those around us told us, ‘You’ve turned into women’, and ‘I can feel the aura of a woman from you.’”

Chinese members Fei and Jia said, “Before, we used to write the Chinese lyrics next to our Korean lyrics to better understand it, but we’ve been working hard on our Korean since then and are able to express the emotions behind the lyrics in our recordings. Now, no matter what lyrics we sing, we’re able to bring in 80% of the emotions from the song’s lyrics into our singing.”
Commenting on how they worked with actor Kim Nam Jin for their music video, Jia said, “It was fun. I had a dream for acting, and I really wanted to act whenever I monitored Suzy’s drama. It was a rare opportunity for me so I truly did my best for the music video.”
Speaking on the album itself, the girls stated, “The album’s concept, outfits, choreography, and songs all feature participation by us to better show off our colors. Last year, we focused on singing, but with this album, we worked to show the artist side of us.  It’s still early, but we’ll slowly build our experience up to the point where we can compose and write lyrics.”
The girls concluded the interview by choosing a triple crown as this album’s goal.  Considering their achievements last year, it definitely shouldn’t be a hard goal to achieve!

18 July:

miss A is back, and they’ve brought quite the storm with them!  Their first official album, “A Class“, was released earlier today, and it’s already topping the charts.
Moments after its release, the song ranked first on nine different real-time charts, including MelOn, Mnet, dosirak, Cyworld, Naver, Bugs, Monkey3, Daum, Soribada, and many others.
Their title track, “Good Bye Baby“, retains the sexy, chic image the girls are known for, but with an elegant twist.
J.Y. Park tweeted, “Sharing news of miss A making an all-kill on nine different digital music charts ^^”
The song itself features a powerful hip hop rhythm with an acoustic shuffle soul feel, and a drum beat that will ring in both your ears and heart. It is definitely an addictive one that’s both dramatic and sexy.
Representatives of AQ Entertainment said, “miss A’s first official album is one that defines miss A’s distinctive color. As it is an album that took a long time to prepare, we hope to show an image that will repay the support we’ve been receiving.”

15 July:

After unveiling four sizzling teasers for their comeback track, “Good Bye Baby“, miss A revealed the album jacket and full track list for their first studio album!
Scheduled to drop on July 18th, “A Class” consists of a hot mix of previously-released hits and new tracks.

01. One To Ten
Considered the best example of miss A’s musical style, “One to Ten” starts off with an emotional piano rhythm and the line, “From one to ten, none of it makes sense.”  The song picks up with each new part by the addition of another rhythm. Upon your first listen, it feels like a ballad track, but the overall rhythm gives the impression of ‘feel-good music’.
02. Good Bye Baby
The song is an expression of a woman’s cool indifference to a man who’s breaking up with her.  Right from the start, the track kicks off with a powerful combination of a strong beat and an electric guitar, followed by a dynamic chorus melody. It features the same base as their debut track, “Bad Girl Good Girl“, but with a few twists that make it stand alone. Although the melody sounds upbeat, the song is actually has a toned sound, giving it an overall calming feeling. Perhaps the song’s strongest characteristic is where the girls are singing as if they’re whispering, acting out the words to the listener.
03. Help Me
“Help Me” is another expression of a woman’s desire to escape the sorrow of a bad break up. The melody is calming in order to reinforce the lyric’s sorrow, but there’s enough of a strong beat so that it walks the line between a ballad and a dance track. Compared to the previous two, this song is a medium tempo that isn’t as heavily loaded with emotions.
04. Break It
Included in their debut album, the track features a funky rhythm and a powerful chorus.
05. Mr. Johnny
A combination of a disco/funky melody and electronica sounds, this song feels like it’s being played straight out of an ’80s club.  Departing from the heavier moods of the first half of the album, the song is a straight up dance track that’s both exciting and upbeat.
06. Play The Music DJ
Featured in “Step Up”, the song is a nice connecting piece to “Mr. Johnny” and allows the album to seamlessly continue the mood built up by the previous dance tracks.
07. Step Up
Also featured in “Step Up”, the song maintains the atmosphere that’s built up, but also marks a change in pace for the second half of the album.

08. Breathe
miss A’s highly-popular second hit track, “Breathe” is also from “Step Up”.
09. Blankly
The only ballad in the album, the song was also included in “Step Up” and acts as a wrap-up piece for the album.  Unlike the other dance tracks, the song uses an orchestra as its foundation to illustrate the emotion sorrow.
10. Love Again
Included in “Bad But Good”, the overall tone is light with synth sounds that spread throughout the song.  It’s an accurate example of miss A’s lyrical style, in that although the song sounds upbeat, but a hint of sorrow lies somewhere in their lyrics and in the way their vocals are delivered.
11. Love Alone
Featured in Kim Yuna’s popular ice show, the song contains all-English lyrics against an electronica background.  The repetitive melody and rhythm gives stays true to its genre.

12. Bad Girl Good Girl
miss A’s debut track, this song is a definite favorite with fans.
13. Good-bye Baby (Silver Mix)

Two days ago, miss A revealed their first comeback teaser through their official website, which was accompanied by their new album cover. The cover has been gaining a lot of attention online, as it once again shows a pair of legs on the front.
Fans noticed that all three of miss A’s albums had the same image on the album covers, which prompted an explanation from miss A’s representatives.
They explained, “All of miss A’s album jackets feature a pair of female legs… The legs form the letter ‘A’ [for miss A]. The confident and gorgeous pair of legs give miss A the ‘Bad Girl Good Girl‘ vibe and capture their charisma and emotions… This album cover, however, gives the girls a more mature feel compared to the original first cover.”
This latest cover sees the legs encased in mesh stockings, which seem to promise a more elegant style for “Good Bye Baby“. Stay tuned for more miss A updates with allkpop!

22 June:
It’s a rare opportunity to be able to look into the homes and personal spaces of Korea’s most popular idols. Fans are always curious about what their homes are like, but usually are only able to see passing scenes in reality shows if they’re lucky.

As such, Sports Donga took it upon themselves to solve the curious case in celebration of their 1,000th edition. They decided to visit miss A’s dorm, which was never once revealed to the public. Interestingly enough, the Sports Donga journalists were also the first ‘men’ to step foot inside.

The girls live in an apartment 30-pyeong big that they moved into last June. The walls are decorated with fan-drawn portraits of the members, one of whom was revealed to be living separate from the group.
Excluding Min, Fei, Jia, and Suzy live in the dorm with rooms of their own. Min lives with her family in Geumho-dong, but she sometimes visits the dorm to hang out with her girls.
At the mention of the dorm being clean, Jia responded with a shy smile, “We actually began cleaning three days ago.” Min added, “I didn’t know the place was so big until after we cleaned up. This is my first time seeing it so clean.”
The girls actually have a maid come over twice a week to help them clean since they’re busy preparing for their new album. The biggest room is used by maknae Suzy because she used to share with Jia.
After her schedule patterns began differing due to irregular filming schedules for “Dream High“, Jia moved rooms to give her space.
Suzy explained, “I came home from filming one day and realized that she moved rooms. She had decorated the room for me. It was really pretty.”

Jia and Fei revealed that they had lived with eight others in a home for three years when they were trainees. Jia said, “The best thing about debuting with miss A was that we all could have our own rooms.”
Although agencies provide dorms for ease of travel to and from schedules, living in a dorm is up to the idols themselves. Small to mid-sized agencies are able to provide up to 20-pyeong big apartments, while larger agencies provide 30-pyeong big apartments or villas.

Girl groups usually live with a female manager in their dorms, but miss A lives completely on their own. They also don’t have restrictions on leaving the dorm on their free time, and are provided a monthly allowance to live off of.
Jia and Fei said, “We don’t have a lot of friends so there aren’t a lot of places to go to anyway. We spend most of our time in the dorm. We probably visited the COEX mall about 100 times.”
The only people who visit the dorm are family members or friends. Suzy’s parents will often make a visit from Gwangju and stay the night.
Other groups like Rania, A Pink, CHI CHI, Boyfriend, and even CNBLUE and SECRET don’t have cell phones in order to focus completely on their album activities. miss A, on the other hand, never had to give up them up. In fact, they’ve even upgraded to smartphones after their debut and each possess an iPad.
It’s understandable why cell phones are so important to Jia and Fei.
Since they’re far away from their homes, the girls revealed that their smartphones are the only tools that help them deal with their loneliness.

The girls usually don’t eat at home, and maybe snack if they’re hungry. Their fridge is filled with cakes, ice cream, coffee, milk, juice, yogurt, ham, and side dishes like kimchi.
A part of the fridge is also taken up by red wine and champagne, drinks that Fei and Jia sometimes enjoy on their own. There are also foreign brand products sent from family members in China, like red pepper paste, crackers, ramen, and dried fruit.
Although they don’t cook often, Fei is said to be an exceptionally talented chef. On her birthday, she threw a small party with her labelmates and personally cooked Chinese dishes. When they were trainees, Fei would even pack lunches for the other members.

ust like their individual styles, the girls had varying tastes when it came to decorating their rooms. Fei opted for a bright red, while Jia centered hers around the color brown; Suzy meanwhile went with pink.
Fei revealed herself to be a collector of body mists, and a fan of hats and sunglasses. Meanwhile, Jia possessed an overflowing closet, but her room is impeccably neat and well-organized.
Reporters noticed a row of books by Suzy’s bed and found that they were mostly Chinese lesson books, novels, and practice notebooks from school. Out of the three, she has the most stuffed animals.
When asked to choose the prettiest room, Min chose Jia’s.

19 June:
Thanks to the wild popularity of their first two singles, “Bad Girl Good Girl” and “Breathe“, miss Areceived love and support that rookies generally don’t get to enjoy right off the bat.

The girls won first place on music programs with their debut song, and even nabbed the much-coveted ‘rookie award’ at year-end ceremonies. Since then, they’ve spread into individual activities before regrouping again in March for the release of “Love Alone“.
Although fans are dearly missing the girls, miss A promises that they’re ready to conquer the second half of the year. Indeed, they’re already in the midst of heavy preparations for their comeback album.

The girls began, “Everything regarding our album is a secret for now. All we can say is that it’s filled with songs that will truly do justice to miss A’s unique color. The songs are modern and will definitely differentiate us from other girl groups. Producer Park Jin Young once revealed a bit through Me2day.”
Their original plan was to release “Love Alone” and then follow up with their official album within the month. Unfortunately, the girls felt that the album was just 2% shy of being completed. Night after night, they’ve been working without rest to complete their album, carrying hopes of finding something that would shoot them past the success of “Bad Girl Good Girl” and “Breathe”.

“Right now, the album is scheduled for release around July or August.  We’ve completed the recording but are still preparing the choreography. Once we fill that last 2%, there’s nothing that can stop us.”
They continued, “Since we’re rookies, we plan to focus on Korea first. We are receiving a lot of love calls internationally, but we want to set up a strong foundation in Korea this year before we advance overseas. You have to have strong roots in order to grow tall, so we hope that this album becomes our roots.”

Because they have Chinese members Fei and Jia, their focus for international promotions will be in China. Because China doesn’t allow access to YouTube or Facebook, they have to be there in person for all of their promotions, which makes the strength of their Korean foundation that much more important.
Jia said, “My family just thinks of me as a daughter. They don’t see me as a celebrity. miss A isn’t that popular with the Chinese yet. Although we’ve done a CF, they weren’t able to recognize us. It means we have to work that much harder.”

July will mark the girls’ first anniversary. Living together has made them more like a family than a group. Fei handles the cooking and Jia takes care of their dorm’s interior design. Although they needed a period of adjustment, the two have already become used to Korean food and culture.
The girls concluded, “Our album promotions and the JYP Nation concert in Japan are our immediate ‘assignments’. Our goal for the year is to win a triple crown on music programs. There are so many artists these days, it’s hard to win that title. We only won for a week last time, so we hope to achieve it this year.”
