Girl's Day

2 September:

Despite the lack of official promotions, the ladies of Girl’s Day have come back roaring strong with their new title track, “Don’t Let Your Eyes Wander“.
Displacing such heavy-hitters of the likes of Davichi and Leessang, Girl’s Day proudly staked claim to the number-one spot on the Bugs music chart, which was followed by similarly high-ranking positions on the other Korean music charts.
“We’re so happy we’re getting so much love with every song we release this year,” Girl’s Day said in a statement. “Now, we’d like to show off Girl’s Day to even more people by revealing even more of our hidden talents.”

1 September:

After announcing that they’d make their comeback with a fourth single titled “Girl’s Day Party 4” recently, the ladies have returned with their new song, “Don’t Let Your Eyes Wander“!
Their title track was produced by composer Nam Gi Sang, who created the girls’ double home-run with “Twinkle Twinkle” and “Hug Me Once“. With sweet lyrics about a girl asking her boyfriend to look at no other girl but her, the song is full of cute aegyo that’s unique to Girl’s Day style.
The song has a special story of its own, as it was composed when Nam was hospitalized for fatigue. Despite his condition, he was determined to keep his promise to Girl’s Day, proving their strong teamwork and friendship.

31 August:

Although the ladies of Girl’s Day are popular enough to make a Japanese advancement just a year after their debut, the girls recently revealed that they’re still regarded as rookies.
Sitting down for an interview, the members shared some stories that they felt were embarrassing.
Yura revealed, “I had to buy something at COEX so Minah and I headed for the mall. Even though we didn’t have any make-up on, nobody recognized us. One young man even came up to us and said that he wanted our numbers.”
Maknae Hyeri revealed that she had received a casting offer while waiting for her manager outside the beauty salon. He had claimed that he owned one of the biggest agencies in Korea. “I didn’t care that he didn’t recognize me since nobody does when I walk around outside. I just felt bad because he felt like a fraud.”
Minah took it a step further by saying, “I went to Dongdaemun to go shopping. While looking around the stores, someone came up to me and asked if I wanted to be a fitting model.” Jihae added that she was waiting at the bus stop when a man stopped his car and told her that he’d give her a ride to her destination.
The fact that all of this happened during their “Twinkle Twinkle” promotions, which many consider to be the height of their fame, made the girls feel that these were the most embarrassing moments in their career.
Leader Sojin said, “We hang out on our own when we’re not at broadcast halls. Sometimes students will come up to us in packs but it’s not uncomfortable. When I look on Twitter, fans will leave comments like, ‘I saw you buying chicken, it was really nice to see you.’  It makes me want to work harder because I realize that people are watching over us.”

30 August:

As we previously reported Girl’s Day will depart to Japan in a few days!
DreamT Entertainment stated that the girls will depart for Japan on September 1st, and after a final assessment, will establish details regarding their debut date and promotional schedules.
But before their departure Girl’s Day left a special video messages to Japanese fans via their Youtube Channel.
In the video the girls stated, “Hello! We are Girl’s Day. To all Japanese fans, you’re still watching over us and still love us right? A few of our Japanese fans flew to Korea to see us and show us support, that was so heart touching and we thank you. That is why we are planning to go to Japan. We will be there soon so please watch over us and show us your support and love, we love you all. We’ve also been studying Japanese too!”
We hope the girls the best in Japan!

29 August:
Prior to their advancement into Japan, Girl’s Day will release a new single in Korea!

On August 30th, a representative from their agency stated, “Prior to advancing into Japan, Girl’s Day will be releasing a Korean digital album on September 2nd“. However, Girl’s Day will not be participating in any domestic activities and will focus on their advancement into Japan instead.
Girl’s Day’s new single, “Don’t Let Your Eyes Wander“, was written by Nam Ki Sang, who also composed their hit song “Twinkle Twinkle“. Nam Ki Sang was said to have composed this song for Girl’s Day from his sickbed. The new song takes on the theme of a girl warning her boyfriend, “Don’t look at other girls“, with cute aegyo. The harmony of all 5 members Jihae’s dreamy and harmonious rap leaves a favorable impression.
Though their advancement in Japan was initially set for mid-September, nothing is confirmed as of yet. Girl’s Day’s agency, DreamT Entertainment stated that the girls will depart for Japan on September 1st, and after a final assessment, will establish details regarding their debut date and promotional schedules.

Girl’s Day finally released their innovative music video for their new song, “Hug Me Once“ today, and its unique concept blew us away! Designed to be interactive and fun, viewers were encouraged to play around with the MV.
But since the concept has never been done before, some fans became confused. The producer for the MV, Lim Jung Gook, decided to share a fun/humorous tutorial through his Cyworld. Check out our translations down below, and then double back here to enjoy the MV!

(*The following is a direct translation from the producer:)
1. “Girl’s Day fans! If you like Girl’s Day so much, I’ll make you the main male character in “Twinkle Twinkle”!‘ was the thought that made me plan this project.
2. Since a 1st person point-of-view is already something people are used to, I chose to bring in the concept of the ‘Dating-Simulation’ system.
I was going to push it as ‘Girl’s Day Maker’ (Parody of Princess Maker), but that seemed too perverted, so dating was the final decision.
3.  While all this was going on, there were words like, ‘Min Ah is the best‘, ‘Who else but little princess So Jin?‘, so Director Kwon said we will film an ending for all five babies–and I couldn’t see my mom for a good amount of time.
4. A couple of days before we were finishing filming, we realized that we were forgetting about a system. We decided then that we will use YouTube’s ‘Annotation System’ to make the MV a ‘complete game’.
(We pondered on creating the MV in a Flash system, but the ‘babies’ need to aim for the world market)
The MV’s intentions work best through YouTube, so go watch it at the Girl’s Day YouTube channel
(This use of concept on a MV is the first in the world as I know of, if not, sorry).
*The game system will stay on YouTube only for a short period of time, and we will return to the regular movie uploading system
*As for processing through Smartphones, we could not set up a meeting with Jobs hyung (lol). This is the only fault in the MV.
5. There were talks about buttons ever since the teaser was released. We were considering implanting different ‘buttons to press’ and ‘buttons to not press’, but we decided that the fun of getting faked would be better. We didn’t want to cause breaks during the MV, so we didn’t create many frames where the audience could make their own choices, so please be faked a couple times ^^.
6. A fan’s comment, “We want to see the backstage of the babies!”, did not leave my mind, so we decided to show the ‘making of the MV’ and give everything we got.
Now we don’t have anything else we could show for our lives.
My mom seemed awkward with me around at home when I got home after finalizing all that.
7. And that sums up the story of wanting to film “a movie that was non-existant” in Korea.

Please give a lot of love for “Hug Me Once“!

The unique interactive MV for Girl’s Day’s “Hug Me Once” is finally here!
As we reported previously, Park Sinook, a DreamT Entertainment representative told allkpop, “It’s the first time a K-Pop music video has been produced this way; our video production team, metaoloz, created an interactive game experience, where fans will be able to choose between multiple options and outcomes. Ultimately, fans will determine what they want to see, and be able to interact with the girls on a more intimate level. The girls each have a very vibrant and unique personality, so we hope fans play the game/music video through every possible outcome! Girl’s Day worked extremely hard to bring something new and fresh for their fans, so please anticipate the interactive music video and support their comeback.
Ever since we heard the news, we’ve been dying to play with this interactive music video, and as a result, it had us clicking through Girl’s Day’s YouTube channel all morning!
To start, you can choose between 4 different modes: ‘Game’, ‘M/V’, ‘Dance’, ‘No’. The “M/V” and “Dance” options are pretty self-explanatory, but the “Game” option is what really caught our attention.
When clicking through the Game version, you’ll learn a bit about each member, and they will each take you on a highly entertaining journey, all of which ends a bit too soon.
At the end of the journey, you will be provided with an option to choose the member of your dreams, which will then reveal how your fate with your dream member ends.
But enough of our rambling, check it out for yourselves! Keep your eyes peeled starting at ~1:45  in the Game version – we found that scene absolutely hilarious, so make sure to check that out as well!

Girl’s Day recently got themselves into a small controversy with their netizen-titled “diaper fashion” on stage. Their company, DreamTea Entertainment, recently set out to explain the situation.

On May 30th, the company spoke to Star News and said, “At the location of the performance, the shorts did not come off obscene; however, netizens caught some provoking captures, which resulted in misunderstandings.”
They continued, “We’ve been promoting with these outfits all this time and no one made any type of criticism towards them until now. Nevertheless, we are currently revising the outfits as a response to the controversy.”
As unfortunate as the screen caps are, the girls are trying to move forward and focus on their upcoming mini-album, which will be released in late June.

Girl’s Day’s stage outfits have drawn much controversy from the public.
Videos of the group’s performances have recently appeared on online community sites. The girls performed while wearing short yellow outfits, which revealed their white underpants, coining the term ‘diaper fashion’.
The inappropriately cut outfits have gathered negative comments from much of the public. Netizens brought up that many of the members are still fairly young and the revealing outfits were even too much for the audience to see.
Girl’s Day’s Minah was born in 1993, and Hyeri was born in 1994 and is still underage. Yura just turned 20 as she was born in 1992.
Netizens have criticized the idols’ stylist and commented, “How can they wear such clothes and perform?”, “Is this part of marketing?”, “Two of the members are still underage…This was too much“.

DreamTea Entertainment, the agency representing Girl’s Day, has addressed the recent controversy surrounding an alleged ‘underwear exposure’ incident during the girls’ performances. Netizens are accusing the girls of flashing their underwear, but the agency explains that it’s just a misunderstanding – what people are actually seeing are the members’ white short shorts, which have a lace trim.
DreamTea Entertainment explained, “We think that the misunderstanding came about because of the shorts worn under the skirts, which are white and have lace decorations. We could see how they could be confused for something else, so we’ll change the outfits.

This controversy surrounding Girl’s Day sprouted after their comeback showcase on March 16th, and it quickly gained buzz thanks to chatter on blogs, Twitter, and me2day.
