5 June:

Following their successful performance at Japan’s Tokyo Dome, popular group Super Junior is continuing with their amazing march in terms of their album sales.
Super Junior, who had successfully held their concert at the large-scale venue Tokyo Dome on the 12th and 13th (of May) and saw the attendance of over 110,000 audiences, had released their single “Opera” locally in Japan on the 9th and sold 160,000 copies of the album within the short span of only a week.
On the 15th, Japanese music website BARKS (http://www.barks.jp/news) quoted the Oricon regarding this week’s weekly singles chart and reported that, “The 3rd place is occupied by Korean boy group Super Junior’s single ‘Opera’, and it is the third consecutive single of Super Junior that has appeared on the Top 3 spots of the Oricon Weekly Chart after Bijin (BONAMANA: Released in June 2011) and Mr. Simple (released in December 2011). ‘Opera’ sold a total of 160,000 copies in the first week and has renewed the record of their previous single Mr. Simple (which sold 89,000 copies). It has also set the record as the best first week sales amongst the singles released by Korean artists this year. These records have proven that they are the undisputed No.1 K-Pop artists in Japan.”
In addition, they also added that “Another noteworthy point is that Super Junior’s accomplishments this time were achieved without having any campaigns or promotions in Japan. Because of K-Pop’s immense popularity, many Korean artists have made a visit to Japan in conjunction with their album promotions, and went on (promotional)campaigns such as making TV appearances in Japan. However, Super Junior’s activities mostly revolve around having concerts in various countries, and is a group that would rarely have all their members visiting Japan for promotional purposes”.
Aside from that, Super Junior revealed the Japanese version of ‘Opera’ and ‘Way’, which were included in their single this time, for the first time on stage during their Tokyo Dome concert and received massive response for it. They drew attention on the 13th for coming out on the 1st position on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart as a result of the hot response they had received during their Tokyo Dome performance.
Super Junior’s successful Tokyo Dome performance has led to them being featured on headlines (dated 14th May) of major Japanese newspapers such as Sankei Sports’ “Super Junior is the best, intoxicating 110,000 people in Tokyo Dome over 2 days” and Nikkan Sports’ “Super Junior’s concert thrilled 110,000 people! Achieved aspirations to have solo concert in Tokyo Dome for two days” among others, receiving immense attention from the local Japanese press as well.
Furthermore, Tower Records, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, also held an event where (fans) are allowed to take photos with Super Junior’s outfits (as seen in the music video)that are on display, in order to commemorate the launching of the ‘Opera’ single. Also, because a large number of fans who came to watch Super Junior’s Super Show 4 concert at Tokyo Dome gathered at Tower Records’ store last weekend, the police force was also mobilised in order to maintain the order.
On another hand, Super Junior will be holding their “Super Show 4” World Tour encore performance at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena for two days on the coming 26th-27th May.

Super Junior will be dropping their 3rd Japanese single Opera on May 9th and after seeing a teaser of the MV, it’s time to take a look at what the covers will look like.
Going along with their ‘Phantom of the Opera’ theme, the boys are seen in dark outfits, which pertain to a mysterious aura. If you notice carefully, they are surrounded by jigsaw puzzle pieces – an interesting concept to be sure.
What do the jigsaw puzzle pieces represent? Only time will tell.

Although we still have some time to go before the official release, fans are in for another treat as the teaser for the “Opera” music video has been officially released.
Although the teaser seems to be the same as the one shown at Donghae and Eunhyuk‘s mini live event earlier, fans will appreciate watching the boys more up close. The teaser gives a glimpse into the music video, which seems to have a masquerade theme.
The Japanese version of “Opera” will be released on May 9th.
