MBLAQ member Mir recently participated in ‘Dream of Koika‘, a new volunteer project that was launched by MBC.
Mir was at the press conference that was held at the MBC headquarters on November 16th, and he remarked, “I didn’t really understand what people meant when they said giving and sharing will bring you more joy, but I understand now after having participated in this event.”
“My family owns a lot of land, and we’ve never had to worry about any money problems. I thought I was genuinely happy but when I went to Peru, I realized that I wasn’t. I was sharing the chocolate bars with the Peruvian children and when I saw that they were saving some to take back to their family members, there was so much that went through my mind. I honestly feel like they have helped me more than I have helped them, and there’s a lot of different things I felt and realized during my time there. If there is ever another opportunity like this, I will make sure to go again. I want to see and learn so much more,” he said.
Mir traveled to Peru to volunteer along with fellow member G.O., as well as Kim Hojin, Park Boyoung, Park Jungah, and DJ Koo. The group traveled to Peru on September 14th where they volunteered and offered their services for two weeks. They help build clean bathrooms, aided medical care to the citizens, and promoted Korean culture with events like Tae Kwon Do performances.
Mir continued, “Lee Joon hyung was supposed to go, but it was decided at the last minute that I would go instead. I have a bad back and recently underwent an operation so a lot of people around me tried to talk me out of going. But this was something I really wanted to try, and I was worried that I would inconvenience other people because I was injured. I think my back feels worse after having gone, but I’m just so ecstatic that I was able to offer these people a little joy“.
Although he had just received surgery, Mir actively participated in lifting heavy objects and building bricks for the new buildings, truly experiencing how much joy giving can offer.
‘Dream of Koika’ is new series to be broadcasted via MBC starting on November 20th. It is a large-scale project that takes place overseas, and a team of 400 made up of celebrities, a medical staff, and ordinary citizens gather to volunteer for the less fortunate. The first ‘Peru’ episode airs on the 20th, and the ‘Paraguay’ and ‘Ethiopia’ episodes air next month, while the ‘Sri Langka’ and ‘Senegal’ episodes air early next year.

Attaching a selca to his tweet, the idol wrote, “For all of my Japanese A+, Korean A+, people all over the world, and to all my A+ in outer space, [I'm] sharing one selca. This is what you call a V-line.”
It’s been a while since his last update, so fans were surprised to see a world-wide (if not galatic) selca dedication. Since Mir drew attention to the V-line himself, fans immediately began to debate whether he looked good, or if he looked gaunt.

26 September:
While making bricks for the remodeled bathroom, Mir accidentally hit himself with a pick axe and injured his knee. Mir was already working with a weakened back because of a surgery he underwent for a herniated spinal disc, but despite his condition, Mir continued his volunteer activities with a smile, earning praise from those on site.
Mir explained, “Originally, it was Joon-hyung who received a casting offer for the show, but I wanted to volunteer so badly that I asked if I could go instead… The production staff asked me if I was able to go with my weak back, but I told them I could do everything, and was able to come. For that, I should put in more effort into volunteering.”
He also stated, “When we came for the on-site inspections for the school, the principal made us some boiled eggs and potatoes. He said these were foods that children here couldn’t have often. I was touched by his kind gesture and have been trying to do my best.”
The celebrities on this show have been working tirelessly on remodeling an elementary school bathroom for the past 8 days. Despite having to lug heavy objects back and forth around the hillside, they have been taking the initiative and setting a good example for the other volunteer workers there.

In the revealed photo, fans were able to see a seated Mir putting a shoe on for a little child. Mir uses one of his hands to hold the hand of the child while using the other hand to put the shoe on the child’s foot. Because of this, fans were able to get the feel of a ‘loving father’.

It was told that MBLAQ’s Mir (Bang Chul Young) had slightly injured his neck while filming for ‘Star King‘.
On August 1st, MBLAQ’s Mir, along with many other celebrities, participated in the filming for ‘Star King‘ which was held at the SBS building in Mok-dong, Shinsaok.
Mir’s injury was first announced through twitter; a fan at the site of the shooting had left a ‘@mention’ on twitter saying, “Mir was sent to the hospital during the shooting of ‘Star King’“. And shortly after, a call from a broadcaster to Newsen had confirmed that “Mir did receive a slight injury“.
A representative explained that Mir had volunteered to be a demonstrator and while experimenting with pyrotechnics, one of the explosives had discharged near Mir’s face. Because they weren’t wearing any safety equipment, Mir’s face had been directly exposed to the gas from the discharge.
According to the representative, “At the time, Mir fell down because he was surprised. Luckily, he didn’t faint or go into a coma but he did fall into shock due to the explosive shot“. The cast had called 119 (emergency line in Korea) shortly after but MBLAQ’s associate, who was present, personally took Mir toMokdong Hospital at Ewha Woman’s University College of Medicine.
The examination results showed that Mir had a slight burn around his neck but fortunately didn’t have any other severe injuries. Mir had returned to the set of “Star King” after his examination and finished the shooting till the end. On this same occasion, an associate from J Tune Entertainment, tweeted, “There has been a slight accident while rehearsing for ‘Star King’. Please don’t worry too much, the injury isn’t severe. Mir’s survival depends on his fan’s love so please continue to love and support him“.
PD Bae Sung Woo from ‘Star King’ also stated, “There wasn’t a big accident. The shooting ended well and everyone was in a good mood all throughout the shooting“. Mir’s agency also explained, “Although there was a small accident as it was revealed on twitter, the shooting ended peacefully. There is no problem at the moment and he is continuing with preparing for album activities and concert“.
Because it wasn’t a big injury, both associates from the agency and the casting crew let out a big sigh of relief; but some fans are worried as this wasn’t the first time Mir had been in an accident on the set of ‘Star King’. Mir had injured his waist while belly dancing during a shoot of ‘Star King’ back in February and because of this, MBLAQ had to temporarily continue their activities as a 4 member group instead of 5.
Some netizens angered by Mir’s injury, commented, “To make a celebrity perform a dangerous experiment without notice, and without safety equipment is unfair“, “It’s already the second injury he had from ‘Star King’, something should be done” and “I’m glad he wasn’t badly hurt, but be careful next time“.
Meanwhile, Mir and his fellow MBLAQ members are currently promoting their mini album ‘Mona Lisa‘. MBLAQ is also preparing for their first solo concert, “Men in MBLAQ“, on August 20th.
12 July:
During the interview, the reporter questioned Mir about his initial rise to fame as Go Eun Ah’s brother. He responded with a smile, “It’s true that people knew me because of her, but now I’m more famous than she is.” He added, “Since there is a distinct line between actors and musicians, we don’t really talk to each other about anything business-related. When we see each other, we only talk about more fun things.”
Mir also mentioned that although he is single now, he would opt to publicize his relationship than be caught in paparazzi photos.

Last week, the boys of MBLAQ revealed that they will be holding a concert titled, “MEN IN MBLAQ”on August 20th at the Jamsil Gymnasium. To help advertise this upcoming event, various teasers were uploaded to the official J.Tune camp Youtube page.
Now, a new teaser featuring Mir has been revealed. In the teaser video, Mir incorrectly answers a simple multiplication question and gets hit by a hammer. He also shamelessly tries to buy a ticket to his own concert only to find out that it’s sold out. In any regard, the video is pretty hilarious check it out below!
Tickets will become available through Interpark on June 21st at 8 PM KST.

Recently, MBLAQ’s maknae took to his Twitter to show off his new puppy. Fans were puzzled about Mir’s choice for the dog’s name, since ‘Soju’ is a Korean alcoholic drink – it would be as if Mir had named his dog, ‘Beer’. So, how did he decide upon such an unusual name?
The idol wrote, “A new addition to our family! I asked my father what to name him, and he said, “Dad is drinking soju right now, so name him soju.” So I named him Soju, kekeke.” Since then, he’s been posting frequent pictures of his new puppy.
8 Maret: Mir is expressing his anger towards what’s called the “Jang Ja Yeon Case.” On March 7th, Mir tweeted, “Those 31 dirty scoundrels must have daughters too, right? It angers me to think that they’d be having dinner with their daughters as if everything is fine.”
The message is suspected to be in response to the letter that SBS ‘8pm News’ reported on March 6th; the letter was personally written by Jang Ja Yeon and said she was forced to host and offer sex services to 31 men over 100 times. SBS News reported that the letter said, “I had no way to get out of the situation. The men who came for me are the devils. Whenever I put on new clothes, I had to meet another devils.”
Kyung Gi Police, who is currently in charge of the Jang Ja Yeon case, said they’re currently investigating the relationship between Mr. A, who said he had received the letter from Miss Jang in 2005. The police plans to send investigators to Pusan Prison, where Mr. A is currently held.

23 Februari: Mir will finally be standing on stage for the group’s follow-up promotions after temporarily halting his activities due to his spinal disk herniation.
The group will be performing the title track of their new repackaged album, “Again,” on this week’s broadcast of Mnet’s “M! Countdown.”
A representative of “M! Countdown” stated, “Mir has had a strong desire to stand on stage with the other members to perform their new song. As much as he is ready to stand on stage with a fighting spirit, we will put our extreme focus on their stage.”

A representative of his company, J. Tune Camp, stated: “On the 7th, Mir visited the hospital after recording for SBS’s “Star King” after feeling constant pains in his lower back. He was told by the doctors that he had spinal disc herniation.”
They continued, “On the 9th, he received surgery at a hospital in Kangnam and is now recovering.”
When asked about Mir’s return, they said, “Right now, we’re not sure how long he has to rest for. His discharge from the hospital depends on his examinations and treatment process, but we wish for him to recover quickly.”

J. Tune Entertainment officially made an announcement through Money Today Star News on February 8th, stating, “Mir has been hospitalized on the 7th due to lower back pain. For the time being, he will be resting. Mir’s lower back has not been in good shape and because of the packed filming schedules, his condition got worse. He needs to receive physical therapy daily in order to get better“.
Mir is now taking a break from his hectic schedule, dividing his time between the hospital and his home. Therefore, MBLAQ will continue promoting their album as 4 members, excluding Mir.
The upcoming filming of Mnet’s “M! Countdown” will proceed with only 4 members. J. Tune Camp has decided that although Mir’s condition is not serious, they are going to take every precaution in order to prevent any further injury.
