14 Januari:
It seems that Dal Shabet is still in shock over winning an award from the ‘26th Golden Disk Awards‘.

On January 14th, Dal Shabet uploaded a picture onto their official Twitter and wrote, “Together with the Golden Disk Rookie Award! Isn’t it beautiful? See how it looks like Serri’s Penguin lips? But Ah Young… You’re not supposed to eat your hand~ It’s not something you eat~ Very cute and pretty Dal Shabet fighting!
The Dal Shabet members are seen gathered around their Golden Disk Award after getting off stage. Ah Young appears to be chomping her finger in an odd moment of aegyo, while the other members pose prettily for the camera.
Netizens responded with, “No matter what people say, 2011’s best rookie was Dal Shabet!” and “Haha, Ah Young, it’s real! You don’t have to bite your finger to check.

4 Januari:
The ladies of Dal Shabet dolled up in hanbok to greet their fans for the New Year before they begin their official comeback promotions.

Sitting down for an interview with Star News, the girls expressed, “2011 was a year where we truly ran without rest.”
Serri continued, “I can’t help but tear at the thought of it already being a year since our debut. There were a lot of hardsips but definitely more things we were grateful for. We’re not a rookie anymore so there is the added pressure of having to solidify our positions, but we’re going to work hard to make this our year. We’ll work hard so that our tears aren’t wasted.”
Viki thanked fans by saying, “Time has passed so fast that I don’t know where it went. Reflecting back on how we promoted three albums in a year is surprising me to now. Thank you so much for showing Dal Shabet your support all year long. We’ll return these grateful feelings.”
Subin also didn’t forget their variety show seniors and staff members, stating, “We’re always thankful for the staff members that work hard with us. Looking back, I realize that we are still lacking in so many aspects. Since we’re not a rookie girl group anymore, I want to spend the last year of my teens working hard on my education and my singing career.”
On future plans, Jiyul stated, “I want to achieve what took us a year to achieve in just six months. We’re going to use everything we learned to spread our name everywhere.”
Ahyoung and Ga Eun expressed, “It’s amazing that it’s been a year already but we’re going to act as if this is a new beginning and work harder than ever.”

28 December:
Dal Shabet has confirmed their comeback to be in January!

The girls recently finalized the date and have gone into intense choreography rehearsals and album recordings, energized by the back to back successes of “Supa Dupa Diva“, “Bling Bling“, and even being chosen as the rookie of the year on the Korea Gallup polls.
As they also have various year-end ceremonies to prepare for, the girls are working day in and day out to get everything done.
The members stated, “We’ve been rehearsing since the early morning every day. Since we can’t prepare for the music festivals and work on our album until after our schedules, we end up practicing until four or five a.m. Now, it just feels like habit to us.”
A representative of Happy Face Entertainment also expressed, “Dal Shabet will be making their comeback in the beginning of January. They’ll be coming back with an image change like never before seen. We ask for your interest and attention.”

Their agency stated, “The reason Dal Shabet received the most votes was because in this year of many girl group debuts, these girls were the most successful and received the most love from the people.
Since 2NE1 received this award in 2009, followed by miss A in 2010, expectations for Dal Shabet have skyrocketed.

On September 18th, the girls left for China to attend an event and were originally scheduled to return on the 20th. 18 September:
The ladies of Dal Shabet recently invited reporters to their rehearsal room for a fun interview on the topic of dating between idol members. The girls claimed that they had even seen three idol star couples at once, and reporters were definitely all ears to hear the details.

With sparkling eyes, they stated, “When guys get together, they talk about girls, but girls are the same way.  Back at the dorm, we do talk about guys a lot.  Idols are humans too, you know..”
When asked whether they were ever hit on, leader Viki revealed, “I’m the type that supports relationships between idols.  If I was ever hit on, I think I’d welcome it.  Still, I do think people should be cautious about going public with their relationships.”
Viki explained that most of them were too young and unsure of their futures to go public with such an important aspect of their lives.  Especially since fans were sensitive to such issues and they were prone to rumors, she said that there were just too many ways to get hurt by going public with it.
She continued, “Of course we know who’s dating who between idol stars, why wouldn’t we?  I once saw even three couples dating at once.”  When reporters said that they didn’t believe her, she said, “You can tell just by looking at them.”
When asked how they could just tell like that, they explained that you needed to keep an eye on groups that promote in the same cycle.  Idol groups have schedules from morning till night so there isn’t any other time they can meet people other than the faces they see in waiting rooms backstage of variety or music shows.  Naturally, idols become closer, especially since their lifestyle patterns are the same.
Their second tip was to spot out those with extremely close friendships.  Dal Shabet explained that often times, they’ll try to act as close as possible so that other idols won’t try to hit on or like their idol girlfriend or boyfriend.

29 August:
Since making their debut on January 4th earlier this year, the ladies of Dal Shabet have been running without rest. But it’s finally resulted in a payoff, as it seems their constant appearances on TV have managed to turn their antis into fans.

Sports World got to go and spend a day with the girls on the busiest day of their week to find out just how busy these girls really are.
They explained, “Sometimes we’ll have five schedules lined up at most, and at the least, two, in one day.  Are we tired?  No, we’re glad.  We’re always thankful that we can be busy.  Aside from music programs and such, we also go on radio programs and events in other districts.  Fortunately, on days like today where we only have a broadcast instead of an event, we can sleep in about an hour or two more because we don’t have to go to the salon.  Still, the members sleep in the car as much as they can.”

The girls would normally head to the hair salon at 7 AM, but because they can just get their hair and make-up done in their waiting room at the music show, the girls can skip it today. Their schedules end at 11 PM, but their day doesn’t end there; these disciplined girls then take out their iPads or cameras and monitor their performances to catch any mistakes that need fixing.
After rehearsing in their training room, they reach their dorm at 2 AM and fall asleep by 3:30 AM.  After sleeping for two to three hours, the cycle repeats itself since they must wake at 6 AM to get to the salon on time.
The girls said, “We have no choice but to always take vitamins and other health products.  We make sure to eat ’samgyetang’ during the hottest days of the summer, and our fans also give us health foods.”
Speaking on their anti fans, Dal Shabet said, “In the beginning of our debut, we had about 10,000, but now it’s gone down to about 3,000.  They’ve realized who we really are and thankfully like us now.”

The girls recently made their return with “Bling Bling“, their third release this year.  Riding on the retro wave, the girls added their own twist with a ‘new Disco’ sound.

“We’ve been running without rest since January.  Sometimes we’ll have extra time once a month, but we use it to order food in our dorm and watch movies.  We don’t want to rest yet, but we do miss our parents.  Still, we’re all working to collect our own color.”

Although they’re only eight months into their career, their mindset is as strong as any veteran.  Right after getting off ‘Music Bank‘, the girls eat dinner and go straight back into rehearsals.

“We’ve only been sleeping for two hours a night since two weeks ago.  After starting our broadcast promotions, we’ve been able to sleep an hour or two more.  When we’re not satisfied with our performance or our voice cracks during camera rehearsals, our feelings drop really fast.  We still try to smile for the fans that come.”

We seem to be hearing this so often lately, and yet another group has been drawn into ’sexually suggestive’ controversies. Dal Shabet recently revealed that they had overhauled their sexy disco outfits to avoid further issues.

On August 9th, Happy Face Entertainment said, “Public broadcast networks have been casting a lot of attention on singers and their outfits as well as their performance styles. In the end, we’ve decided to comply by changing all of their outfits.”
Thus, the outfits that they had already produced won’t be used at all. Instead, the girls will be wearing turtleneck shirts that limit the amount of skin exposure. The company also switched out the shorts for several different pairs of long pants instead.
Representatives continued, “We made the decision to change it because so many staff members had worked so hard on this album and didn’t want anything to stand in its way. We will work that much harder on stage so as to not disappoint the fans.”

5 Mei:
Rookie girl group Dal Shabet has a new nickname to add to their list, as they’re now known as the ‘cup girls.’ Ever since their “Supa Dupa Diva” promotions, the girls have been headlining for various injuries and health issues. To take care of their health, the girls have picked up cupping therapy, a type of therapeutic technique used in traditional Oriental medicine.

For those of us who’ve never heard of ‘cupping therapy’, it involves placing vacuum-sealed containers on the skin to draw out deeper internal healing.
Ga Eun revealed, “Jiyul unni does it for me after we complete our schedules for the day. It feels refreshing, and I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better thanks to it.”
Jiyeul added, “My mother is familiar with cupping treatments and hand acupuncture, so I learned how to do it naturally. I first performed the cupping treatments for the members whenever they weren’t feeling well.. Now they ask me to do it the minute we come home from our schedules. You can tell what kind of condition the body is because the color of the skin near problem areas look different.”
Unfortunately, the treatment also comes with consequences. The cupping treatment leaves visible bruise-like marks, and since the girls’ stage outfits consists of short clothing, it shows right through.
Jiyul continued, “Clothing that shows our backs exposed the cupping marks. In case people thought weird of it, we’d put foundation and makeup on our backs.” Laughing, she stated, “Unfortunately, we sweat the makeup off, so people could see the marks in plain sight.”
