Han Geng heavily values his nationality as Chinese. When we discussed young actors participate in (Chinese) patriotic films, he would tell you it is his duty to possess this attitude to your motherland. Speaking of his separation from Super Junior and his return to Mainland China to start a solo career, he did not forget to emphasize that he is Chinese. Han Geng who is very proud of his race surely is an appropriate candidate to take part in the (Chinese) patriotic film, Beginning of the Great Revival.
The Deng Xiaoping who is 180CM Tall
Like many big shot stars, Han Geng also appears for a split second in Beginning of the Great Revival and plays Deng Xiaoping sitting down. “I didn’t know what character I was playing during filming. I thought I was playing Zhao Shiyan. But later they told me I was playing Deng Xiaoping!” Actually when making this type of patriotic films, a group of Mainland Chinese actors is always chosen to play these characters due to their resemblance to the actual persons. However, Beginning of the Great Revival broke with convention by choosing Han Geng and other relatively young actors such as Liu Ye, Aloys Chen Kun, Daniel Wu and Angelababy Yeung Wing to take part in the film.
People criticize that the 6-foot tall Han Geng bears no resemblance to Deng Xiaoping. But Han Geng feels his duty is more important than how convincing the makeup and custom design are to the audience. “The purpose of this film is to watch its historical scope. Everyone’s position is not the same and so they watch the film in their own perspective. Actually many young actors like us taking part in the film are hoping to show everyone the story, the history. If people only look at the appearance aspect, it is shallow. Many young people are learning history, but some people do not understand the history during that particular period of time. Some of the young actors are very competent and influential. The purpose of us gathered together is hoping to attract more young viewers to watch the film.”
Dream to Become an Actor Comes True
Presented himself as a part of Super Junior in the past, Han Geng came back as a solo singer since the termination of contract with his Korean management company. But starting this year, he has been presenting himself as an actor in promotions. Other than Beginning of the Great Revival, there are also My Kingdom and Founding of Father Sun Yat-Sen to be screening on theaters this year. “It was not financially viable for my family to support the high cost of tuition to acting school. It just happened that I was offered the opportunity to Korea and became a singer. While studying dancing, I also took part in some stage performances in which life is transferred to body movements and acting is integrated in the performances. The more I performed dances, the more I was into acting. So now that I have this opportunity, I hope to realize my dream.” In order to do well, Han Geng looked for acting instructors to teach him acting and the technical know-how. After all, Han Geng, initially as a dancer, could do better in action scenes than non-action scenes. He said, “Knowing dancing helps me a lot in action scenes; no matter if it is flexibility, speed or response. I can learn quickly because dancing also has its powerful side and gentle side. But he can play the character’s feelings in non-action scenes. People can see the different sides of me. But I am still a rookie and need time to fully comprehend (acting).”
Has Not Given Up the Korean Market
His remarkable achievements in Korea were mentioned during the interview. It helps his solo career to some extent. But he emphasized that he is Chinese after all and hopes to establish himself in Mainland China before going to Korea again. “I am an actor and a singer in China. To be able to embrace my motherland is surely happiness. If I do well on what I should be doing at the present time, (the people in) Korea will naturally respond to it. They also listen to my songs and watch my movies. I have not given up. Of course, the time spent in Korea was the most significant period and it meant so much to me. So I am so grateful for all that they had done. But the past is past. I need to do well now and in the future. I am thankful and grateful (for the time in Korea), but don’t need to look back.” Perhaps it was the days living under someone else’s roof in the past that made Han Geng treasure the present even more and better realize the importance of being Chinese.

7 July:

The production team for the romantic action-packed film “My Kingdom” premiering in mid August, got invited by Dragon Television to formally introduce its theme song on July 10during the annual celebration of “China Got Talent”. Han Geng, who is also the main lead in the film, will sing this song live in front of an 80,000 seating stadium for the first time. The big screen will also show images from the MV for the first time.
Earlier on May 9th during the press conference of “My Kingdom”, director Gao Xiao Sung expressed that he will write the lyrics and music himself for the theme song of this film. However due to the “drinking and driving” incident, this came to a stand-still. With the “My Kingdom” premiere in August coming up soon, the production team only has the finished lyrics by Gao Xiao Sung at hand. Just as the crew were worried about the half completed work, many of Gao Xiao Sung’s friends from the movie and music industry came to the rescue, highlighting that the friendships in the circle is priceless. Famous music people like Zhang Ya Dong, Xiao Ke, and so forth, all came forward to write the music for the lyrics of “My Kingdom” without fee, which greatly moved and consoled the production team. On Sunday night, which version of the theme song will Han Geng sing at the “China Got Talent” annual celebration? What kind of feelings and emotions will Gao Xiao Sung’s smooth and flowing poem like lyrics reveal about these wu shengs from the days of old? How will Han Geng, who is the male lead and the main singer, present this stirring piece of work? All will be revealed on Sunday night.

5 July: Geng Xin Concert - Television Broadcast

CUN School Magazine Hangeng Interview

Han Geng, is an ethnic Nanai from Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang. He was accepted into the College of Dancing of the Central University of Nationalities (“CUN”) in 1996 majoring in ethnic traditional dances and minoring in ballet and martial arts. He graduated in 2002. He is currently a pop singer and actor in China. He did very well academically and performed many times in foreign countries. The graduation performance, “Hunter”, won second place at the “Peacock Cup” in the China Minority Ethnic Dance Competition. He was also the youth representative for Nanai to attend the military parade ceremony at the 50th anniversary of National Day in 1999. As the person who received the most votes in the Beijing district, he was chosen to be a torch bearer at the Beijing Olympic. His works include the music album “Geng Xin”, an inspirational television series “The Stage of Youth”, film “My Kingdom” and concept book “Han Geng 12.21”. In July 2010, he successfully held his first solo concert at the Beijing Exhibition Center.
As a public figure, Han Geng has many “titles” – The “Asia’s Dancing King”, “most popular male singer” and “all-round artist in Mainland China”, etc. In many of the media reports, the most commonly used adjectives are “kind, friendly and persevering”. The reporter asked Han Geng’s manager, Sun Le, who is also an alumnus of CUN’s College of Dancing, as to out of Han Geng’s many “logos”, which is the most representative of Han Geng. Sun Le who has known Han Geng for many years said, “If you are looking for an adjective, then it’s simple. Han Geng is a very simple person.”
Synopsis of Dancing: Study at CUN
Han Geng whose physique is well qualified for studying dancing was chosen by a teacher during a talents show in elementary school. After graduation from elementary school in 1996, Han Geng’s first mentor (T/N: the teacher who first introduced him to dancing) brought him to Beijing to apply to CUN’s College of Dancing. After a period of intensive training, Han Geng successfully got accepted into CUN and started his 6-year life centered on dancing.
Han Geng said his first impression of CUN was that “it was very big, so beautiful, was very happy.” Honestly, this is somewhat different from how many of us feel now, especially the impression of “very big”. It could probably be because it was from the view of a 12-year-old kid. Today, Han Geng could still hold on to his initial happiness when reminiscing his feelings of 15 years ago. Han Geng who was a kid back then might have realized the significance of stepping his feet into CUN. But the not-too-big campus was a stepping stone to learning and performance. He started from here and was on the road to a higher stage.

Chinese ethnic minority dances are formed after a long process of history by each of the different ethnic groups’ based on their geographic environment, cultural customs and economic and cultural conditions. They feature a combination of songs, dances and music instruments. When asked whether there was a particularly difficult course of study, Han Geng said that all courses were hard at the beginning (but) gradually became easier. Nothing was particularly hard. This can be regarded as the standard answer given by a model student. If one thinks a course of study is difficult to learn from the beginning to the end, it is probably because he did not try hard enough during the process.
About taking exams, Han Geng continuously said three words to describe his state of mind at the time – frightened, nervous, forgot to zip up pants.
In many interviews, Han Geng who studied dancing is always asked about the bitter experience in order to prove that the road to success is not easy and to encourage people. While lamenting over the level of hard work, we should better take note of his attitude. Han Geng naturally says, “It is normal to experience hardship.”
Teenagers Han Geng and his classmates were innocent and naughty. They would sometimes procrastinate doing morning routines. One morning, he and a few classmates were late to class.
The strict teacher asked them, “have you washed your face?”
“No.”
“Then you go wash your face!”
They went to wash their face.
(They) returned to the classroom, the teacher then asked, “have you eaten yet?”
“No.”
“Then you go eat!”
Han Geng and his classmates were particularly nervous and wondered why the teacher was different from normal and became nice? (S/he) lets us go eat? Then we go eat. Han Geng reminiscently said, “Meals at CUN were very delicious. Wontons and buns, we ate a lot.”
After eating, they returned to the classroom feeling happy and fortunate; thinking how come the teacher treated them so nicely today and didn’t punish or hit them. At that time, other classmates were doing some routine exercises. After putting on their kung-fu clothes, the teacher asked them, who were late, to do flips (T/N: or somersaults?) for two straight hours. As a result, they ran to the bathroom, held the toilets and vomited badly wasting the delicious breakfast. Han Geng kept laughing when he told us about the story. We did not know whether he thought he and his classmates or the strict teacher was too adorable at the time.
When talking about those teachers who he wanted to say thank you, Han Geng named quite a few in a respectful tone of voice. He almost thanked each and every one of the teachers from the College of Dancing who had taught him. At the end, he said very sincerely, “(I) thank all the teachers from the College of Dancing. (I) thank them for nurturing me during my six years (at CUN). (I) thank the teachers for their full attention to each of us and all the classes. (I) wish them joy and happiness!”
Colorful Life: Bright and Warm
Han Geng said the days he spent studying at CUN was very regular. He went to bed by 10 every night and slept well. He would not be awakened by classmates who played around in dorm rooms. The College of Dancing curriculum is a 6-year program. Sun Le who was four years ahead of Han Geng in school recalled his first impression of Han Geng in CUN, “(my) impression at the time was that he looked particularly pitiful.” The reporter thought that the answer seemed inappropriate and asked Sun Le to use another words. He insisted, “Han Geng was little and thin so he looked particularly pitiful.” Han Geng’s teacher friend Mao Lei who sat beside him hinted, “This should be called sympathy”. Han Geng looked like a very good kid at the time. People especially had “sympathy” for him. The senior (T/N: Sun Le being HG’s senior in school) felt pity for him. In old Chinese, the meaning of “可” is “worthy of”. (T/N: The adjective Sun Le gave was 可憐 and I translated it as “pitiful”. The first character “可” means “worthy of” or “deserving”.)
In Han Geng’s memory, he had lots of fun with his classmates while in school; played in Zizhuyuan (T/N: a park in Beijing), snowball fight in the winter, played outside together in the rain. And Sun Le said the funniest thing that they did was throwing Han Geng back and forth in the corridor.
Since the year 2000, there have been many changes to the campus. It’s been almost ten years since Han Geng graduated. He felt the biggest change to CUN is that it has tall buildings now. In his eyes, another change he was quite emotional about is that the teachers are older now. Talking about it, he lamented of how quickly time flies. He particularly felt a sense of closeness to seeing the 18th Building, center main building and auditorium. The renovated cafeteria and dormitory also gave him another feeling. In his eyes, he thinks CUN is becoming more beautiful and his juniors are lucky and so they should treasure what they have now. Sun Le said he always comes back to CUN to have meals. Although it is a bit more crowded than it used to be, but it is no doubt more modernized.
“Han Geng developed his persevering and determined qualities during his time studying dancing at CUN. His solid knowledge in ethnic traditional dances makes him distinctive. Han Geng is unique.” Sun Le explained the connection between the time spent studying dancing at CUN and how Han Geng is now dubbed by others “The Asia’s Dancing King”. Han Geng looked very quiet while waiting in the dressing room. He was very polite to those unfamiliar to him. He showed a joyful smile while taking picture with Teacher Mao Lei. When I saw Han Geng holding a stack of paper giving autographs, from then on I suddenly felt the special aura of a star.
Appearing at an event venue and seeing many zealous “Gengfans” holding signs and screaming “Han Geng”, the nearby colorful light beams criss-crossing the dark sky, on the stage is Han Geng dancing and singing his “My Logo”. “It’s wings made of iron. That alone can fight bright rays…”

Exclusive Interview with Han Geng: Won’t Avoid the Past, Dream To Be an Actor

<My Kingdom> lead actor Han Geng accepted an exclusive interview with ifeng.com’s Entertainment in Shanghai. In <My Kingdom>, it is Han Geng’s first time being the lead actor in films. Also he mentioned there were many action scenes. He hoped to star in more action films in the future and gradually shift his career in film and television. “I have dreamed to become an actor.” Han Geng said he would not avoid (talking) about his past prior to the start of his solo career, but he didn’t want to mention it again and again.
Talk About Action Scenes
Debut Film as Lead Actor, Hopes to Star In More Action Films in the Future
This is Han Geng’s first film and as the lead actor. He said he had gained lots of experience from working with kung fu master Sammo Hung. Before shooting each scene, Sammo Hung would divide the scenes into small parts in order to teach him.
He learned dancing at a young age. Although he shot similar action scenes before, but there was no one film so fun that enabled him to try doing actions to this degree. Therefore he requested to do many action scenes by his own.
He said that he has been very interested in action films and hoped to star in more (action films), but would not position himself as a kung fu star.
Talk about Wu Chun
Play Complex Brotherly Love On Screen, Friendship Off Screen
Han Geng and Wu Chun, two handsome men, play the senior and junior who grow up together. Han Geng as the “junior” providing support behind the scenes to his senior who became thelead wu sheng (T/N: I don’t know the technical term of 角 in Peking Opera terms, but I guess it means the main male role.), but they almost became enemies and had to fight against each others due to a misunderstanding.
Han Geng said that he had known Wu Chun before filming. However, it was through working during filming that they found themselves getting along quite well and have become friends. Han Geng thought it was a good thing that fans compare the two of them. It would provide stimulation for him to do better.
Talk About Big S (Barbie Hsu’s stage name)
Experienced (Actress) Collaborate On Set, No Love Relationship On Screen
Big S is very experienced in acting and very professional. Han Geng said they collaborated quite a lot on screen and their relationship is more than simple love relationship. He said his role is very complicated but also very interesting in terms of love, friendship and kinship. (He hopes) audience can go watch it in theaters to find out the answers.
Talk About Acting and Music, Two Careers
Did Not Talk About Music with Gao Xiaosong During Filming, Dream to Become an Actor
Due to his drunk driving incident, Gao Xiaosong would miss promotion activities for <My Kingdom>. Han Geng felt that it wouldn’t have impacted on them too much. Despite Gao Xiaosong being a well-known musician and Han Geng as a singer, the two did not have any sharing on music during filming.
Han Geng felt that he had set a clear distinction between filming and music and would devote himself to one thing at a time and give up work of the other career. He said that in fact his dream is to become an actor. Although currently he balances the two, but will put his focus on film and television works in the future. As for his music career, the 27-year-old would not put it all down at the moment because dancing is his expertise after all.
Talk About Zealous Fans
Seniors Are Happy For Him, Hopes People Shouldn’t Just Look At the Surface
Because Han Geng had accumulated a considerable popularity being a part of a Korean group, when he appears on stage, the cheers he receives are often bigger than those for his seniors and other stars on the same stage. For that, Han Geng said, “I respect my fellow seniors very much and I believe they are happy for me, to be able to see my well-being and expect that I will become better and better.”
Although Han Geng does not have many of his own works after the first year of going solo, but his popularity is very high. Facing with this contrast, Han Geng said that he would work hard on what he has to do then he can balance his state of mind. “As of today, I have not completed the first year of my solo career. (I) hope everyone will look forward to the future and won’t just say (see) things on the surface.” About the former group, Han Geng said he in fact would not avoid (talking about) the past, but hoped not to mention it again and again.

Hangeng Weibo Updates

Time passes too quickly, I have again come to a familiar place; in here all the little droplets of memories all appear before my eyes, because this is the start of my (very first) initial dreams. (However) Memories are still (just) memories; they are beautiful, they are blissful, they are also one’s own most valuable riches, but time cannot flow backwards; it is still moving forward every minute and every second, I will look forward, forward is the road I need to walk, I must be clear of myself, and what I want to do now and in the future.

Only when I am unhappy and very stressed are memories the most effective comfort for me. When I am done reminiscing I need to clear my head, I need to be myself, I will, for the things I need to do now or in the future, work hard and fight and I can even “risk my life”. I’ve said this in the past, and now I still need to say to myself: Han Geng Jia You! You must be strong!
T/N: ‘Need’ may also include a sense of ‘want’ and vice versa.

Even though the show only started one month ago, ZJSTV’s brand new variety show <China Dream Show> had already became the most anticipated show on saturday nights. This show used its sincere, touching and humourous moments and had won recognition of all audiences. The biggest selling points of the show are ‘fulfilling dreams’ and ‘surprises’. Since the start of its airing, the viewers’ rate and attention towards <China Dream Show> kept increasing. Last saturday (7th May 2011), <China Dream Show> got into another viewers’ rate frenzy, the viewers’ rate was threatening another popular variety show, <Happy Camp>. And also, Han Geng appeared as the dream ambassador, it made the stage shine more!
Han Geng doesn’t have the air of a star at all
Touched everyone by making a fan’s dreams come true
This time, Han Geng appeared as the dream ambassador for a beautiful Shandong volunteer for the disabled, Liu Miao. Although Liu Miao is suffering from a disease but she is beautiful and kind, she would go to the old folks’ home in Tianjin once every week to help out as a volunteer. Knowing that her daughter really like Han Geng, Liu Miao’s mother contacted ZJSTV as a delegator of her daughter’s dream. She hoped that <China Dream Show> would give Liu Miao a chance to perform on stage with her idol.
Of course, after receiving a delegation, <China Dream Show> started to plan a series of unforgettable surprises for Liu Miao, inviting Han Geng to fulfill Liu Miao’s dreams was included as well. Han Geng’s schedule was packed when he received ZJSTV’s invitation, he was really touched by Liu Miao’s story. 10 Mei:This coming Saturday, the <Happy Blue Sky ∙ China Dreams Show> program produced by our newspaper and Zhejian Satellite TV is going to welcome another “Make-Dreams-Come-True Ambassador”. He is Han Geng. Currently as one of the most dazzling stars in Asia, Han Geng’s appearance is to make a disabled beautiful volunteer Liu Miao’s dream come true. In order to fulfill Liu Miao’s dream to be on the stage with him together, Han Geng did not charge the program for his appearance, completely “zero compensation”.
Han Geng Recorded Ringtone for the Fan On Stage
1988-born Liu Miao is a hard-core “Geng rice” who is congenital paralyzed due to hypoxia in cerebellum (T/N: the medical terms could be wrong since I am not a medical person). Three years ago, Liu Miao became Han Geng’s fan. She had been hoping to have close interaction with the idol. This young girl has suffered many misfortunes, but she was not defeated by the disability and the divorce of her parents. Instead, she develops an optimistic and strong character through these experiences. Seeing Han Geng in front of her very own eyes, Liu Miao can’t help but to “scream hysterically”. But this is only the beginning to happiness. Han Geng invited her to sing <The Wings of Love> with him on stage. Due to Liu Miao immobility, Han Geng kept holding her all the way. All the audience of the program watched it with “envy and jealousy” for his consideration. After singing the song, Han Geng even gave her a hug which made Liu Miao very happy.
Towards the end of the program, Han Geng heard that Liu Miao set the weather forecast alert to his name. He especially recorded an exclusive ringtone “answer the phone, answer the phone” for her. Liu Miao expressed, “(I) can’t believe all that happened, (I am) going to faint from happiness”. With the exposure of Han Geng’s exclusive ringtone for Miao Liu, many ringtone providers “see” it as a business opportunity and have contacted Han Geng, his manager and the television network many times expressing their willingness to buy the copyright of the ringtone with millions of dollars.
Thanks the Support from Mother and Fans with Tear
During the Q&A section, when asked how he would handle the mother/wife relationship, Han Geng said it is very difficult to answer, “I don’t know, but I know it’s tough”. He indicated that he would have his girlfriend to go shopping with his mother in order for them to get close to each other. When he talked about how his mother has supporting his career all along, Han Geng couldn’t hold back his tears. “Each time when it comes to talking about my mother, I tell myself, I cannot cry again. But I am really touched by her.” An MV which took Gengfans three months to complete was played during the program. It includes Han Geng’s concert, his participation in awards ceremony and clips of interactions with fans. Han Geng shed tears after watching it, “I am really grateful that everyone has been with me and did not abandon me. I assure you that I will work hard (singing), not letting people to yell at me, insult me”.

Chairman Na’s speech liven up the atmosphere
Urged newcomers to improve and to change
Na Ying, who attended Mengniu Music Billboards as the chairman of the judging team for the second time, was full of energy and strong aura. For starters, she appeared at the red carpet in an orange dress and for the live broadcast, she changed into a classic black and white dress. This portrays an image of a strong woman.
When the ceremony officially started, judging chairman Na Ying was the first to give a speech on the stage. When she was on stage, there were some problems with the cold fire stage effects and it was shooting the flames non-stop. Na Ying kept calm and resolved the awkwardness by saying, ‘the atmosphere is really good like that’. After that, Na Ying started pointing out names in all the newcomers. No matter being experienced or really newcomers, those who were called stood up immediately and they only sat down when Na Ying asked them to. Na Ying called Guo Shu Yao, Fu Xin Bo, Yan Jue, MIC, Hu Xia, Anthony Neely to stand up and said, ‘I do not know every single newcomers and I am not even sure with all of the names. Newcomers can give the music industry a fresh look so please encourage the newcomers. I hope that after joining the Mengniu Music Billboard’s family, you would be humble this year and next year, you can be a little proud.’ In the process of pointing out names, Na Ying ‘looked after’ Li Yuchun, Han Geng especially. She praised that Li Yuchun is a ‘reliable youth of arts’ and Han Geng is able to pin point his position as a professional singer accurately. After that, Na Ying also expressed that Shang Wen Jie puts a lot of attention on her image. But Na Ying, who is always good at her speech, she made mistakes as well, she called Cheng Chu Sheng as Zhang Chu Sheng.
Parts not related to Han Geng was omitted

Hangeng laments having no time to date, dislikes girls who acts like a princess

After Han Geng left Super Junior to go solo, (the) results have been encouraging, other than scheduling for a concert to be held at Hong Kong, (Han Geng) also cooperated with Wu Chun to film for <My Kingdom>, resulting in (his) music and filming career to simultaneously develop at the same time. Due to (his) busy schedules, Han Geng revealed that he does not have enough time to find a girlfriend, but he exposed that he prefers girls that are gentle and quiet, (and) those that act like princesses are totally out of the question.
According to Hong Kong’s <Xing Tao Daily>, Han Geng expresses that he wishes to expand in Asia, including mainland China, Malaysia and Japan etc., talking about plans with regards to work for the future, he says, “(My) first movie (with me) being the main lead — <My Kingdom> is highly-anticipated, as well as releasing a new album, hopefully (they’d both) be huge breakthroughs, allowing the audience to witness a different Han Geng. Also, (I’d) hope to hold a concert at Hong Kong this year end.”
Han Geng revealed that (his) wanting to hold a concert at Hong Kong has something to do with Andy Lau, he says, “The previous time when I visited Hong Kong to attend an Andy’s concert, the feeling (was) really good, and has given me a lot of inspirations, thought of many interesting things, thinking of performing something different on stage. Of course, right now I can’t reveal (what exactly) are they! Must stay mysterious.” Han Geng said while laughing that if he has time to work out, he would show his muscles on stage, and would love to invite Jacky Cheung as (his concert’s) VIP guest, he happily remarks, “I love his songs, his charisma on stage, (and) of course would love to collaborate with him for a song, Jacky is also my motivation.”
Han Geng admits that after leaving Super Junior, he wasn’t used to it, saying, “My state of mind was very different, right now (I) feel more happy working, as the people that I’m working with understands each other. At first wasn’t used to it, but right now it’s okay! Maybe it’s due to stress. Last time it was a group of people up on stage, (but) now it’s one person alone on stage, but when I’m up on stage and hearing the audience’s applause, it makes me feel so touched.” Talking about the reason why he left the band then, he says, “It wasn’t a steadfast decision, it was a result after a prolonged period of time. It was communication problems, the cultural difference, and slowly derived the problem of today’s.”
(Despite his) job’s many demands, Han Geng has not thought of modulating his time for courtship, once he reaches home he goes into a deep sleep, when resting he stays at home to listen to songs, (yet) he doesn’t feel lonely at all. When questioned about the type of girls that he fancies, he says, “Must be well-behaved and understanding, kind and more on the quiet side. An optimistic girl would do fine as well, but (she) can’t be too out-spoken, because I’d be afraid of (her) being too annoying, ’cause when one’s noisy it can get pretty annoying.” Talking about many girls contracting the “princess disease”, Han Geng straightforwardly remarks, “Girls with the princess disease is a definite no-no! I also can’t stand girls that are too arrogant.”

The 11th Music Billboard Award Ceremony would be held at the Dong Guan Yu Lan Theatre, popular Han Geng would be presenting a special performance at this ceremony, (and) according to reports, Han Geng would be preparing for his second album.

A performance to sum Han Geng’s achievements of the year
At the past ten Billboard ceremonies, Han Geng’s creative opening dance wowed the crowd with his superb dancing skills, (and) as for this upcoming ceremony, what does Han Geng have up his sleeves for the most anticipated performance? At Music Billboard’s exclusive interview, Han Geng revealed that he has already started choreographing (the performance’s) dance, (and) has made changes for the song, by (this) month end (he’d) be able to start practicing, (and he hopes) that he’d be able to display a performance to sum up his achievements of the year.
Until press time, Han Geng is voted the most popular male singer in the poll at the 11th Music Billboard, and has surpassed the other nominated singers. Han Geng revealed that he isn’t a very ambitious person, (and) only hopes to do whatever that he’s doing well and work hard, (so as to) not let down his fans that have supported him thus far, thanks the fans for their approval (with regards to him and his career), (and to allow) nature to decide on the (winner of the) award. Talking about his own idol, Han Geng revealed that since his schooling days he has always idolized Qi Qin, (and Han Geng) is able to sing most of his songs, but regrets not being to attend any concert by Qi Qin. Today at 1745h, at Sina Music Billboard Award Ceremony’s Most Popular Artist live telecast (would simultaneously) broadcast Han Geng’s exclusive interview, stay tuned.
Han Geng’s newest album starts preparations; To subvert the challenge of rock style
Han Geng revealed that returning back to the Mainland Chinese music industry in this one year was really essential for himself, (the) free environment allowed himself to try out different genres of music that he didn’t try out before, (and) seeing the people in the same (music) industry’s resilience and creativity, Han Geng also gained a lot of inspiration (and felt) encouraged. It has been known that as Han Geng was busy promoting for <My Kingdom>, has secretly started preparations for his second album, and the second album would give off a even more different music feel, (and) as Han Geng personally likes the rock music genre, the entire second album would revolve around the rock genre, (the album’s) music and style would be completely changed, and when talking about the future rock-styled Han Geng, Han Geng laughed while saying that he would put in place his own style, adding the rock feel into both the choreography and love songs, and (about) the overall outcome, (please) wait till the album has been released.
The 11th Music Billdboard Award Ceremony has already started its countdown, Han Geng, Yoga Lin, Tian Fu Zhen, have all already started preparations for their special performance, this ceremony is about to be launched onto the big screens. 11th April marks the day in which all the big stars come together, (and together) makes it “music is pleasant to you!”

00:10 Han Geng, who at that moment he was in the midst of a multinational lawsuit
00:13 Accepted the exclusive interview of “The Story Behind”
00:16 He Jiong: If you weren’t in this field, what would you want do?
00:18 Han Geng: Me? Be a teacher
00:22 May 2010
“The Story Behind” entered Han Geng’s Beijing home
00:28 The MC He Jiong took good friend Xie Na
00:30 Sat with Han Geng to talk
00:35 Facing his most trusted program
Most trusted people
Most trusted group
00:42 Han Geng, who was in the midst of the contract termination controversy
00:44 For the first time, going through this extremely important process
00:47 And his inner world
00:48 Speaking without keeping anything back
00:53 He Jiong: Today, we’re going to discuss with Han Geng a lot of the things in his heart
00:57 Han Geng: Actually, when you say such a long time
From the contract termination up until now
In regards to my whole situation everyone’s just speculating
This is this way, that is that way
What’s Han Geng doing?
01:08 Han Geng: Actually, I didn’t have
A real chance
To tell everyone about my entire situation and my circumstances
01:18 Xie Na: Why did you go to Yunnan?
01:19 Han Geng: Because at that time, my body was especially unwell
01:21 Han Geng: Remember last time how I told you
You even asked me
“Are you still going to live?”
01:24 Han Geng: Do you still remember? Right.
01:26 Xie Na: There were so many areas with problems
01:27 Han Geng: So many areas had problems
Gastric, spleen, liver, all were unwell
01:34 He Jiong: So you wanted to recover for a while
01:36 Han Geng: Right, recuperate a little like this
01:38 I think where Han Geng’s heart was most uncomfortable
was the issue of equality
01:42 Han Geng: There was one time when I was really pretty angry
At that time – I forget where it was
A concert
All the other members’ parents came
01:50 Xie Na: A concert in Korea?
01:52 Han Geng: At Shanghai, I think it was at Shanghai
01:54 Han Geng: That time, I asked my mother to come watch
I needed tickets, Mama’s seat was at…
01:58 Han Geng: If this was the stage
And I’m facing the audience
Mama was over here
She can’t even see the stage
02:07 Han Geng: Watching from a slanted (angle), can’t see at all
02:08 Xie Na: They knew it was your mother, and then they gave the ticket…?
02:10 Han Geng: Right, I told them my mother arrived
And a few artist friends came too
02:14 Han Geng: They wouldn’t even take it seriously at all
And give the tickets
02:17 Xie Na: They just randomly gave tickets?
02:18 He Jiong: Where were all the other members’ parents sitting?
02:20 Han Geng: In the middle
02:22 He Jiong: How come? Aren’t you the most popular one?
02:26 Han Geng: No.
He Jiong: Why?
02:28 Han Geng: (But I’m unhappy) with the things that happened not the people themselves.
02:32 Han Geng: Because up until today
It’s all been them who have been guiding me, SM Entertainment company
02:37 Han Geng: From 2003 onwards they have trained me
From my debut in 2005 all the way until now
It’s always been them who guided me
I am very thankful to them
02:46 Han Geng: They have given me today…
They gave me this kind of experience
02:52 Han Geng: But I still think when we’re working, in the aspect of understanding, there are still a few conflicts
03:00 Han Geng: So after all of these accumulated
My heart will be uncomfortable
03:04 He Jiong: So you hope your fans will be able to understand (Han Geng: Right.)
03:07 He Jiong: Then are you afraid that after leaving your group
You won’t be popular anymore?
03:10 Han Geng: I’m not afraid. (He Jiong: [repeating] Not afraid)
03:12 He Jiong: When that news first came out, you saw the blog entry that Kyuhyun posted
Do you think he wrote that?
03:18 Han Geng: I don’t dare to be certain.
03:20 Han Geng: Actually, everyone is pretty close-knit
Saying everyone must remain in SME and can’t separate
Forever be Super Junior
03:31 Han Geng: But it’s possible that I…
Because I never told anything about this before
If it was suddenly like this
It’s possible that no matter how good of friends you are
They possibly won’t understand
03:40 Han Geng: Why would it be like this?
Why would it suddenly be like this?
03:45 Han Geng: I’m happiest when I’m working with friends
There are so many friends with me until now
03:51 Han Geng: Helping me, I’m very fortunate
03:59 Han Geng: I’m happy.
04:08 Han Geng: This is probably the first time after contract termination
Accepting an interview
And saying these kinds of things
Saying what I really feel in my heart
The first time

After spending few months filming together, the film crew has established a strong friendship. Therefore, Han Geng invited the film’s second female lead, Annie Ye, to the concert.
At the concert venue, Annie Ye highly praised Han Geng as a kind-hearted man and that he worked very hard during filming. Nonetheless, Annie Ye who always gives striking comments also said, “Actually Han Geng is very repressed in private and keeps things only to himself. (I) hope everyone can give him more care and love.”
Last June, Han Geng held a show case to formally declare going solo at the Great Wall. On July 17th, he held his first-ever solo concert marking a decisive step after going solo. “Geng Xin Concert” meant much to Han Geng. At the (Changsha) concert, Han Geng also promised his fans that he would hold a concert as soon as possible after release of the second album.

21 Maret: Hangeng rushes to Sanya to congratulate Big S on her wedding
Hangeng, who co-stars with Barbie Hsu in the movie <<My Kingdom>>, expressed that after completing the promotional activities for these two days, he will then head to Sanya to attend Barbie’s wedding. When asked what sort of gift he will be giving, he answered: “I would congratulate her, but the gift will remain a secret. Actually I have already known Wang Xiao Fei** when I was filming <<My Kingdom>> with Barbie. I have learnt a lot from Barbie and Wu Zun***“
When Hangeng was asked if he sustained any injury while filming the action scenes, he answered that “I injured my mouth and it bled, but having a dancing background helped me to manage the action scenes better.” (As a singer yourself, do you prefer singing or acting?) “I would like to develop in both areas. I have learnt dance for a long time and I do not want to abandon that.” (What sort of character would you like to attempt?) “Villian and characters with mental problems” (Earlier, one of the SJ members got injured because of an object that was thrown onto the stage while performing in Shanghai, are you aware of this?) “No, I am not. I will call to send my greeting. Actually, a similar incident happened to me before, but I managed to avoid it.”
* Big S is a Chinese actress and her real name is Barbie Hsu (Hsu Hsi Yuan)
** Wang Xiao Fei is Barbie’s husband
*** Wu Zun is a member of popular Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit, who acted beside Han Geng in the movie.

<My Kingdom>’s Action Director Sammo Hung Personally demonstrate first scene for Han Geng and Wu Chun
Sina Entertainment Reports: February 25th Beijing Time. According to Hong Kong press, Wu Chun and Han Geng participated in Action director Sammo Hung’s Hell-like training for movie <My Kingdom>. Since before the filming of the movie started, Sammo Hung trained the two male leads according to the fight and action scenes in the movie for two months. From cable hanging to wrestling to one on one fights, Sammo Hung personally supervised and corrected their movements. He even demonstrated the fight scenes personally on the scene while filming. Under the training of Sammo Hung, both (Han Geng and Wu Chun) became “mirror Donnie Yen”, and weren’t afraid to keep on reshooting to find perfection.
A fight scene in the movie when the brothers Wu Chun and Han Geng became enemies even took 50 hours of continuous filming to complete. The danger of this scene was immensely high; Sammo Hung and another action actor try it for over ten times before letting Wu Chun on. In this scene Han Geng tightly held on to a dagger and closes in on Wu Chun only to get kicked to the story below by Wu Chun. Although they were hanging by cables, but both of their shoulders and feet were greatly injured and the back of their hands were also completely raw. The see <My Kingdom> as their representative work, and the film will air in the second half of the year.

21 Februari:
On the night of February 2, 2011 at 20:00, CCTV’s rabbit year Spring Festival Gala began, with celebrities from both Taiwan and the mainland gathering in one venue, putting together a spectacular performance of the arts for Chinese people all over the world’s new year’s eve dinner. In the opening number of the performance, “Going Home for New Year’s”, young idols Han Geng, Dong Jie, Yin Tao, Zhou Dong Yu, Dou Xiao, etc. acted as passengers returning home, walking down from the “Harmony” train**, with Han Geng’s singing and dancing performance setting a warm, romantic, stylish mood for the entire audience.
(**T/N: China’s train that is the fastest in the world, I think…)
It is reported that Han Geng’s latest single has a high ranking on various music download sites; within the short time of half a month it has already neared a million listens and page hits. Han Geng’s strong personality and the personal mood of the song are apparent.
At the beginning of the new year, Han Geng is ready to go, with a new album and concert already added to his schedule, and his movie debut in “Da Wu Sheng” will also be shown this year.
As the first Chinese artist to debut in South Korea, it could be said that Han Geng’s popularity was premade. From the leader of SJ-M to returning to his home country as a solo artist, Han Geng has accumulated a considerable amount of popularity. For Han Geng, last year was an unusual one; after leaving SJ-M he came out with the solo album “Geng Xin”, held two solo concerts, released a concept book to commemorate the year’s progress, and at the end of the year’s various awards ceremonies, he even more so swept up many important awards.
Han Geng began to learn dance at age 12, with an impressive foundation. Among the newcomers to the Chinese music scene, singers like Han Geng that both sing and dance are uncommon. After going solo, Han Geng has expressed that he has become more relaxed than before. “Before it was a group; as the leader, there were many things I had to worry about. Right now I’m much more relaxed, the pressure isn’t so great, and there are a lot of people helping me, we’re like family.”
As a newly debuted singer, on the road just made from going solo, music has of course been placed as his first priority. Talking about his work plans for 2011, Han Geng said he wants to release another album. “I hope there’ll be some changes and some breakthroughs, I like European/American music and rock-style songs, so I hope some rock elements can be added to the new album.”

24 Januari:
Berikut interview:
“The day of the interview was also the day he won his lawsuit against SM Entertainment, which had been going on for a year prior to its close. A year ago today, he had filed to terminate his contract and thus angered his agency. Although a portion of his Super Junior members expressed their dissatisfaction with his decision, such things could not hold him back.
Throughout the year, he’s appeared in many TV programs, as well as released one solo album. While holding his first solo concert, he became closer with the media, and stimulated public interest.
His brimming schedule was probably to blame for such abnormal sentiments. It was only until a year ago today that he reminisced of the time he signed his contract. If there was one thing he was hesitant or scared of at the time, it was probably fundamental change. “If I hadn’t gone to Korea and remained in Beijing, I would’ve probably lived a normal life teaching students.”
[The reporter] asked, “Have you ever resented your father? Although it was your own decision, he never blocked you from signing the contract.” Hangeng replied, “No, even if he was against it, I would’ve still signed the contract. It was an opportunity.”
He grabbed the opportunity, and took a flight to Korea.
There are reports that trainees endure strict training, are prohibited from dating, have their personal feelings ignored, are taught a sense of group consciousness, and sometimes are even charged by their companies to ‘entertain’ outside of their normal schedules with liquor.
When [the reporter] mentioned the report, Hangeng denied the statement and explained, “SM is never like that. I’m not sure how other companies work, but SM would never do that.”
I wonder if this, too, was a trace left inside of him by his company, as he never says anything impulsively.”
21 Januari:
On the 19th of January, the Sina Web Awards was held in Beijing at 7PM, and saw the appearances of celebrities such as Ge You, Fan Bingbing, Wang Luodan, Hai Qing, Miriam Yeung, Han Geng, Bibi Chou, Wang Xueqi, Feng Xiaogang, Rodney Wu, Guo Degang, Yao Chen and more. The King of Newcomers Han Geng obtained the honour of Male Singer of the Year, and he admitted that the year 2010 for him was a very unforgettable year. After filing a lawsuit for the nullification of his contract with his previous company, he has also released a new album and held a solo concert, whereby he had reaped large rewards from them. When talking about the movie “Da Wu Sheng”, he expressed that the character he played in the movie was very alike his own personality: “Personally I’m a very introverted person, I’m very quiet. I would keep everything in my heart and refuse to say it out, but I have an idea (of what I want) in mind.” At the same time, he also revealed that there are a lot of scenes where he acted opposite Da S (Barbie Hsu), and thanked the other party for teaching him a lot of things.
After a long-drawn contract termination battle, Han Geng became stronger, and whenever he was faced by some negative remarks about his previous company and also the rumours that he had turned against his SJ brothers, Han Geng would always answer with a smile: “There are some things where it’s fine to let people say what they want to say, it’s good enough that I’m clear with what I should do. The entire 2010 was a very fruitful year to me; my mood has turned good since coming to the new company. Furthermore, I’ve released a new album and also held a concert which belonged to myself, (so) I’ve really gained a lot. I hope that I can continue to have more rewards in the year 2011, (like) releasing a new album, (and) hold concerts in even more locations.”
The movie “Da Wu Sheng”, which is Han Geng’s first foray into the movie world, would be cranking up the hype soon. He revealed that in the movie, he plays a character whose personality was very much alike his own, so it was rather easy to fit into the role while acting: “There are a lot of monologue scenes in the role I play, and it’s very much alike my own personality (which) is quiet, keeping everything in my own heart and refuse to say them out loud, but I have what I want in mind.” Han Geng also mentioned that he had a lot of opportunities to act opposite seniors Barbie Hsu and Wu Chun, and that he had learned a lot of things from them, thereby benefiting a lot from it.
