26 August:
MBLAQ will be following up their “Mona Lisa” promotions with “I Don’t Know” starting next week.
“I Don’t Know” was made by the composers of “Mona Lisa” and tells the story about a guy who doesn’t understand a girl’s heart and mind. The song is particularly favored for its witty lyrics and easy-to-follow melody, and is already expected to become a hit.
MBLAQ’s leader Seungho stated, “Every time people ask what the follow-up song for ‘Mona Lisa’ is, we say ‘I Don’t Know’ and they look at us oddly. ‘I Don’t Know’ is a song which battled ‘Mona Lisa’ until the end for the title song position. You can experience a different MBLAQ charm with this song.”
The boys have just successfully wrapped up their first solo concert, ‘Men in MBLAQ‘ on August 20th and are now busy with their upcoming promotions as well as their Japanese activities.
20 August:
5-member idol group MBLAQ fulfilled one of their many dreams as they held their first solo concert at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium a year and 10 months after their debut.
With the concert titled ‘MEN IN MBLAQ‘, their mission was to put on an unforgettable performance for their fans, showing them how much they’ve grown as artists in the last two years.
Holding a press conference shortly before the concert began, members Seung Ho, G.O, Lee Joon,Thunder and Mir expressed that they were both excited and nervous.
Leader Seung Ho began, “We are extremely excited to put on our first concert for our fans. Just looking up at the stage makes my heart want to explode.”
The boys revealed that they were inspired by the sci-fi movie ‘Men in Black‘, in that they wanted to put on the most memorable show in the universe for their many fans.
“We have been planning this concert for about three months now,” they said. “…We decided on the concept after watching the ‘Men in Black’ movie, and decided our mission was to capture the hearts of our fans with our performances. We are performing our currently released songs as well as tracks that have never been revealed, so I hope our fans are as excited as we are.”
The boys have confessed that they’ve never been so committed to anything as this first concert.
“I’m actually so nervous that I’m physically worn out,” said Thunder. “But I’m going to use the adrenaline I get on stage to put on the greatest show ever.” Seung Ho agreed, “I’m going to use up all the energy I have within me on stage.“.
Mir and G.O remarked, “We will not disappoint the many fans who came a long way to see us perform tonight, and we will be sure to show them everything MBLAQ has to offer.”
MBLAQ prepared 24 song performances in total, including their hits “Oh Yeah“, “Y“, “Cry“, “Stay“, and “Mona Lisa“. They also prepared a solo stage for Seung Ho and Lee Joon, while also performing songs written and composed by their very own Thunder and G.O.
12 August:
The boys of MBLAQ are preparing a sexy dance number at their first solo concert which will feature a gorgeous female dancer.
Like many idol group’s concerts, MBLAQ is preparing special performances featuring solo and separate unit members; these special performances are a typical way to attract the fan girls’ interest and to increase the anticipation.
An associate of MBLAQ’s agency, J.Tune Camp, commented, “There is a member who will be performing a sexy dance routine with a female dancer” adding on to the anticipation for MBLAQ’s concert. All five MBLAQ members, who are nicknamed ’chic idols’, are well known for their apparent sexiness when they perform. Because of this, fans have higher expectations for their concert along with the upcoming sexy dance performance.
MBLAQ’s first solo concert, ‘MEN IN MBLAQ‘, will be held on August 20th, at Jamsil Gymnasium.
11 August:
These days, it seems that idols are taking on every project available, from singing to acting, to variety shows and musicals. But the MBLAQ members are unique, in that they’ve actually been turning down offers for dramas and musicals in order to better focus on their group.
Speaking with OSEN, a representative from their company explained that member Lee Joon received many love calls for dramas but his company turned them all down. Meanwhile, G.O. was also courted for casting in musicals, but the company turned those down as well.
The representative said, “Since the members each have their own unique qualities, various projects have offered the members many roles. However, in the second half of this year, MBLAQ had such a busy schedule that we had to turn down those offers.”
MBLAQ had to not only prepare their “Mona Lisa” comeback, but for a full-fledged solo concert as well. On August 20th, the boys will hold their first concert in Seoul, where they’ll be presenting both group stages and solo performances. Later on, they will release another song before diving into Japanese promotions. MBLAQ is shooting for the #1 spot in both Korean music charts and even on Japan’s Oricon weekly chart, and to do so, they have to throw in 100% behind their efforts.
Additionally, it’s been revealed that the members also want to pursue solo activities starting next year. But the representative said that right now, everyone’s focused on delivering the best results possible for their group efforts. “The number of MBLAQ fans is increasing and the response to their stage performances has been very positive. It seems right to concentrate on their group activities for now.”

25 july:
Idol groups are often criticized for their imbalanced part distributions, leaving many netizens to dub them as “five second singers”. But MBLAQ is confident that they can avoid such controversies with their comeback track, “Mona Lisa“.
Through this promotion cycle, the boys revealed that their goal was to get rid of all such controversies right from the roots by showing that idol groups can distribute parts evenly.
They stated, “The controversy first emerged because members couldn’t fully express their parts in the given time before the song moved on to another member’s parts. With our title track, ‘Mona Lisa’, we made sure to distribute the parts evenly so that each member can sing as long as possible.”
As such, Thunder, who previously rapped sporadically throughout their songs, is now focusing on his singing parts. The song has also raised the bar with their vocal line, which in turn has better brought out the charms of each of the members.
As they are currently also preparing for their first concert on August 20th, the boys concluded, “It’s important to clear your hearts and enjoy the stage. We’re sure that if we work hard to show MBLAQ’s style, our fans will recognize that.”
The boys of MBLAQ recently sat down for an interview with Ilgan Sports in celebration of their “Mona Lisa” comeback.
Talking about their new album, scandals, and their ideal types, these boys shared a revealing interview that’s sure to delight their avid fans. Check it out below!
–
Q. “Why did you choose ‘Mona Lisa’ as your title track?”
Seungho: “We’ve received a lot of love up until this point, but I knew that we didn’t have that one special track that people thought of when they thought of MBLAQ. Our producers Ji In, Wontag, andRado all sought to create a powerful image that would leave a lasting impression. During the process, we listened to a demo of ‘Mona Lisa’, and all of the members thought in unison, ‘This is it.’ Without hesitation, we chose it as our title track.”
Q. “What is the point of your choreography?”
G.O.: “Since our song is sexy, the choreography is passionate and masculine. The sexiest dance is the Tango, and we worked to incorporate moves that would fit with the sound of the Spanish guitar. There isn’t a name chosen for it yet, but we call it the ’swag dance’. I feel like it’ll be a hit.”
Q. “Lee Joon was swept in a scandal with 4minute’s HyunA right before the release of your new album.”
Lee Joon: “It wasn’t true, so I wasn’t too worried over it. If the rumor had an truth to it, I would’ve reacted in some way, but it wasn’t true so I just trusted that others wouldn’t believe it either. The members actually joked around and congratulated me, saying that it’s the first scandal of our team.”
Q. “On the topic of scandals, could you reveal any dating stories?”
Thunder: “People probably won’t believe us even if we say so, but none of us are dating. I know that none of the members are dating anyone. All five of us watch just watch DVDs at home. We’re always watching movies in our dorm, we’re about to become movie critics ourselves.”
Q. “What style do you prefer in women?”
Thunder: “I’ve already said this before, but I like cute styles, like the Wonder Girls‘ Sohee.”
Seungho: “Someone with refreshing looks and a Western body. I’d like her personality to be tomboy-ish. I also like the style of senior Son Dambi.”
Lee Joon: “I’d like someone who obsesses over me and treats me well. As opposed to physical looks, I prefer someone with a pure heart.”
G.O.: “Someone with an intelligent look and sharp eyes. If I had to choose, a face like Kim Yuna.”
Mir: “I like SNSD’s Taeyeon. Her bright laughter is very charming.”
Q. “You’re famous for being the group produced by world star Rain. Does he still train you strictly like when you were rookies?”
Lee Joon: “No, we often go out to watch movies and go bowling together, like a hyung. When we talk, he gives us a lot of advice that comes from experience. He’s always said to us, ‘Rehearse a lot. Do something new that others don’t do.’ He used to do ab check-ups, but he doesn’t do that anymore.”
Q. “Then what does Rain think about you dating?”
G.O.: “He said that he’d support us and even told us to date. I’m not sure what kind of response he’ll give when we actually get into a scandal, though.”
Q. “Are you close with girl groups? Do you have a lot of opportunities to meet?”
Seungho: “We all have busy schedules so it isn’t easy to meet. I’m close with f(x)’s Victoria andAfter School’s Jooyeon. We greet each other at broadcast halls and compliment each other’s stages.”
Q. “Do you have a lot of fans in their teens?”
Lee Joon: “We have fans in our teens, but I think we have more fans in their 20’s. I think it’s because we’re on the older end of idol groups. The nunas will gift us a lot of useful presents. Not only do we receive food, but things like air purifiers and car accessories, just things we need in our daily lives. We even received liquor for our birthday.”
Q. “Do you have a concluding statement for your album promotions?”
G.O.: “We’ve tried a lot of different albums to show off MBLAQ’s potential. We earned a lot, but there was also disappointment in that we didn’t have a color specific to us. Through this album, we hope to create a masculine image and show another side to our potential.”
17 July:
On July 17th, MBLAQ left a special message of thanks for both their own fans and 2PM’s Hottests fanclub for the support they received at SBS’s ‘Inkigayo‘.
Thunder tweeted, “Thank you so much! The support today was the best in history! We promise to eat it well! A+ everyone, we l-love… hehe.”
He added, “And thank you to all of the Hottests who supported us during our pre-recording.”
With presents and snacks laid out before them, the members are seen posing with an envelope that has their names written on them.
Fans said, “Such a friendly photo”, “We’lll always be supporting you”, and “Looking forward to your stage!”
12 July:
For the second half of their TV Report interview, MBLAQ answered questions concerning their status as idols. As grateful as they are for fans and their support, the group spoke honestly about the difficulties they face because of their fans as well.
Mir said, “Our fans do everything they can for us. We’re very thankful for them and for anybody who even likes us at all.” He made sure to add, “But as grateful as we are, we hope that nobody will go to extremes like skipping school or waiting in the snow or rain because of us anymore.”
Lee Joon agreed, “There are fans who follow me around even when I’m out for personal business. They stop following me if I ask them to, but I feel sorry if I have to ask all the time.”
Thunder said, “It seems like there’s a separate family fandom for me and my sister, Sandara of 2NE1. We’re very thankful of course, but there are some fans who follow my mother and other sister around even though they aren’t celebrities.”
==
- “We’ll stay up all night to resolve any issues we have with each other.”
Conflicts are inevitable, but MBLAQ shared that their method of resolving issues with each other is simply to talk it out.
Leader Seungho noted, “We’re all adults and we have similar music styles so we don’t fight with each other often. When the occasional disagreement comes up, we talk about it and make sure to listen to the other person’s opinion. That’s how we work things out. But like I said, we don’t fight often. I could probably count all of the arguments we had on one hand alone. If we don’t have time in our schedules to talk about an issue during the day, we’d probably stay up all night in order to put it to rest.”
==
- “MBLAQ, a group with many different colors.”
MBLAQ doesn’t have as many solo activities as other idols these days. Lee Joon has taken steps as an actor, and G.O is now making appearances on KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘; however, the other members are finally ready to make individual show appearances now as well.
“I wanted to go on variety shows too,” Seungho said. “I’m ready any time if anybody wants me on their show.” Although he’s currently taken some time off school, he’s enrolled as a film/arts major and so fans have been hoping for his debut as an actor. Unfortunately, he stated, “I don’t have any plans to act yet. I don’t think it’d be too late even if I went into acting after I hit my thirties, after MBLAQ has become successful.”
G.O has been receiving praise lately for his vocal abilities through ‘Immortal Song 2.’ He said, “I’m relieved that I was able to put my name out there through the show. Even though it’s been two years since MBLAQ’s debut, nobody recognized me as the main vocalist.”
Lee Joon demonstrated his acting potential through ‘Ninja Assassin‘ and ‘Jungle Fish 2‘, but humbly stated, “I still have a long ways to go in order to achieve perfection. I think I need to study and practice acting a lot more, but for now I want to focus on MBLAQ.”
==
-”We want to become a multi-talented group.”
Thunder and G.O are currently both writing and composing. Thunder said that he wants to release a solo album while emphasizing that he definitely still loves being in the group. “I want a solo album so that I can show my true music tastes, which differs slightly from that of MBLAQ. After “Mona Lisa” promotions, you never know. My self-composed tracks might erupt out of nowhere.” He also stated that he dreams of not only of releasing a solo album, but of trying out acting as well. It’s said that he decided upon his dream of being an entertainer after hearing Rain’s song, “It’s Raining“.
Lastly, Mir showed his affection for rapping with, “Although I wanted to participate in making the raps for this album, DOK2 is actually the one who wrote them all. He’s very talented so I was able to learn a lot from him while watching him work.” Mir also chose the underground rapper as his role model.
TV Report recently shared an interview with MBLAQ who released their newest mini-album, “Mona Lisa“, earlier this morning.
Back when they debuted in October of 2009, MBLAQ was mostly known for being Rain’s project idol group. Two mini-albums and one full album release later, members Seungho, G.O, Lee Joon,Thunder, and Mir were able to shed that label and prove that they possessed real talent.
The group humbly stated that although the name MBLAQ is now widely known, they have yet to release any real hit songs. With that, the group met with TV Report for their interview and shared their goal to promote a true hit with their new album.
==
- “We want to release a song that represents MBLAQ.”
From their unique album concept to a completely new music style, MBLAQ has finally returned with their third mini-album, “Mona Lisa.”
Leader Seungho said, “After monitoring our progress, we’ve realized that only our fans really knew our songs while the general population still can’t recognize most of our title tracks. As such, we’ve chosen a track this time that we hope people of all ages will enjoy and remember.”
Mir added, “When you say 2PM, you think ‘beastly idols’. MBLAQ still doesn’t have a set image like that, nor do we have any notable hit tracks. We hope that we can find our group’s unique image with this promotion.”
Main vocalist G.O said, “It’s the greatest flaw for a singer not to have a trademark song. As pop singers, our goal is to be recognized by any and all people by our music alone.” He reiterated, “We need to make this album the one that finally sets us apart.”
==
- “B2ST as our rivals? Of course we’re jealous.”
MBLAQ and B2ST debuted only one day apart from each other back in October 2009, and have been labeled as rivals since the beginning. Seungho candidly revealed, “B2ST definitely does a lot of things better than we do. We’re human so of course we get a little jealous when B2ST does well, but that’s what makes us work even harder.”
He added, “We always support B2ST’s successes and make sure to congratulate them when something goes well.”
G.O said, “It’s true that the main reason our two groups get compared a lot is because of our debut dates, but we don’t think of it as a competition that we need to win. We just want to make good music.”
==
- “Created by Rain? We weren’t worried at first.”
Although they’re under different management now, MBLAQ was formed under Rain’s direct supervision. Since it was also Rain’s first time with production, it seems that he and the group both felt the pressure.
Seungho noted, “A lot of people paid attention to us because we were created under Rain’s name. Even though everyone thinks we probably felt pressured by that, we didn’t really understand what it meant at the time of our debut. More than anything, we thought of it casually, but we’re starting to understand now why it was such a big deal, since any of our actions would be a reflection of Rain-hyung himself.” He concluded, “We work extra hard now and will continue to grow because of that.”
==
- “MBLAQ, leader of the next Hallyu wave.”
MBLAQ took their first international steps to Japan in May with their single album, ‘Your Luv‘, which placed first in the Oricon chart. Member Lee Joon commented, “We only promoted there for a month, but surprisingly we received a lot of love. We were very grateful.”
The group is popular not only in Japan, but also all over Asia as well. Thunder, who was revealed to be the younger brother of 2NE1’s Sandara, is especially popular in the Philippines where he grew up. Just like how 2PM’s Nichkhun is considered the ‘prince of Thailand’, it seems that Thunder has come to be the ‘prince of the Philippine’s. He said, “Our entertainment company hasn’t said anything about an official debut over there, but we will continue to promote and perform there occasionally. We want our music to be heard everywhere.”
==
- “First solo concert within two years of debut.”
MBLAQ will be holding their first solo concert next month and are preparing to show fans a whole new side to themselves. Lee Joon laughed, “Our manager told us not to expect any sleep for the next month, so we hope everyone is looking forward to a spectacular concert with us.”
Mir added, “We’re each preparing solo stages that fans will be surprised to see.” Member G.O will be revealing a solo track for the first time at the concert. Seungho and Thunder are, of course, busy preparing their own stages for the show as well.
With all their humble charms, good looks and musical talent, MBLAQ continues to capture more and more hearts. Keep an eye on the group’s progress by following their upcoming performances for “Mona Lisa”!

7 July:
There’ve been a ton of visual teasers for MBLAQ’s 3rd mini-album, and the boys are back with yet another one! This time, they’ve revealed the album jacket cover for “Mona Lisa.
We’ve mentioned before how the members were assigned to portray an iconic pop culture figure that they felt best represented their new album. Lee Joon, Thunder, and Mir took on ‘Zorro’, ‘Boy George’, and ‘The Beatles’ respectively. Meanwhile, G.O. became ‘James Dean’ and Seunghoportrayed ‘Papillon’.
The reason the members are parodying famous figures from history is because of their mini-album’s title track, “Mona Lisa.” They hose the concept of ‘celebrated works’ in order to fit their title track and transformed into figures that they have always respected or liked.
The album itself is comprised of a total of six tracks.
“Mona Lisa” is described to be a Spanish electronic dance track that is the work of Ji-In, Wontaek, and Rado, who previously worked with the boys for “Stay”. The three took head as the producers of the overall album to create a musical style that’s specific to MBLAQ.
Pre-orders will begin on July 8th before its release on the 15th.

The powerful, bad boy aura of idol group MBLAQ is quickly enveloping Japan, as G.O, Seung Ho, Lee Joon, Thunder, and Mir prepare to make their mark in one of the world’s largest music industries with their debut on May 4th.
The group is already well on their way to a promising debut. After releasing their title track, “Your Luv“, in ‘chaku uta’ form on April 19th, MBLAQ propelled themselves to the #1 spot in just a few hours. (The ‘chaku uta’, for those of you who aren’t familiar with it, are songs you can download through your cell phone; consequently, there’s a chart that records the number of downloads for each new release, much like the ‘Oricon‘ chart.)
Their coupling tracks, “Into the light” and “Daijoubu“, have also been released in ‘chaku uta’ form.
“Your Luv” will be released in 3 different versions: ‘A-type’, ‘B-type’, and ‘C-type’.
‘A-type’ will feature a DVD with the PV for “Your Luv”, a 12-page booklet, a slipcase, and a chance to win a ticket to an upcoming event for the single. ‘B-type’ will hold the same contents, except the DVD will feature a special off-shot called “MBLAQ in Japan”. Finally, the ‘C-type’ will not feature a DVD, but a jacket underneath that will feature one of six random photos.

Popular K-pop group MBLAQ have kicked off their debut activities by unleashing the MV for their new song, “Your Luv“.
They’re notorious back in Korea for their sharp dance moves, and it looks like the boys are aiming to establish that same reputation in Japan. Playing with the concepts of ‘night’ and ‘day’, they’re seen tearing up the dance floor in flashy, textured outfits and hair that fangirls are sure to go wild for.
It’s a flashy video, but we’re not altogether sure why the producers decided to stick in “Golden Snitches” here and there across the screen. Check it out and toss us your thoughts!
MBLAQ will debut on May 4th.

It was recently reported that two of the five members from MBLAQ have been suffering from injuries and sickness, resulting in various cancellations in their promotions.
While Mir is currently recovering from a hip injury, Lee Joon was recently rushed to the emergency room after showing nausea symptoms, causing the group to cancel their performance on this week’s episode of SBS’s Inkigayo.
A representative of MBLAQ told Newsen on February 15th, “Lee Joon and Mir have both cancelled their schedules and are recovering at home.”
According to the representative, on the morning of the 13th, Lee Joon suddenly felt dizzy and displayed symptoms of nausea, and was later diagnosed with a problem in his cochlea (inner ear). After receiving orders to rest from the doctors, Lee Joon is currently taking time off to recover and will soon go back for another check up.
Meanwhile Mir, who had injured his spine disk during the group’s “Y” promotions, felt aches in his back after recording for SBS’s “Star King” on the 7th. The member was later diagnosed with a herniated disk and underwent surgery in a hospital in Gangnam two days later.
“For Mir’s case, his schedules may depend on his rehabilitation. However, as the doctor said that he must receive rehab treatment, his recovery time may take a bit longer. We hope to make a decision on his return after looking over his development,” revealed the representative.
Due to the need for recovery time for these two members, MBLAQ may need to cancel their promotional activities for both this week and next.
