13 December:
On December 13th, SHINee‘s Onew, Key, and Taemin held a book release conference for their Barcelona travel book, ‘Children of the Sun‘.
The book is a photo essay documenting the trio’s experience during their week-long stay in Barcelona, Spain. It features journal-like entries from the members as they delve into personal stories and thoughts. As of the 13th, the book ranked in the top 10 bestsellers list.
At the press conference, the boys began, “We wrote down what we felt and experienced together in a diary format that we think many people will be able to connect to. We experienced a lot of things and felt a lot of passion as we learned about the culture of another country; it was also an opportunity for us to see a reflection of ourselves off stage.”
When asked why they chose Barcelona, they replied, “It was our first break in a while, and we wanted to choose a location far away. All three of us were immediately attracted to Barcelona. We ate and hung out in the streets as much as we could, and we hope that more people visit Barcelona. For those that can’t, we hope that they’ll indirectly experience the joy through our book.”
Key revealed, “Ever since our debut, I wanted to show this particular side of us. I think it’s a book that aptly captures our natural side off stage. My mom bought about 40 copies for herself to share with her friends. I think it is a fun book, and I hope that people will take an interest in it.”
The boys also touched on some habits they discovered about one another. Onew began, “Key has always liked shopping, so while on vacation, he was walking around everywhere, without even a minute of rest. Although we’ve promoted together for such a long time, the three of us had different things we wanted to do. For example, I had a hard time understanding why Taemin was so adamant about buying a soccer uniform.”
He continued, “We had some free time in the middle of our vacation, and Key went shopping while Taemin went to swim. All three of us have very different hobbies.”
Key added, “I saw Onew hyung cooking and felt like I discovered a new side to him. I was surprised to see him cook, but even more surprised with the taste. Why? Because I chewed on raw rice when I tasted his dish.”

SHINee’s Japanese debut has attracted hot media attention, as six Japanese newspapers- “Sports Hochi“, “Junichi Sports“, “Sankei Sports“, “Sports Nippon“, “Nikkan Sports“, and “Daily Sports“-focused on SHINee’s Abbey Road showcase in London on the 21st.
Sports Hochi reported that the Abbey Road showcase garnered a swarm of 1,000 European fans, stating,”A fever that hasn’t appeared since the Beatles” and praised SHINee for their world popularity.
At this sacred place, in which only legends such as the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Rod Stewartperform gives a significant meaning to the first Asian singer’s live showcase on the Abbey Road.
SHINee members expressed their feelings as they stated, “We want to go down in history like the Beatles.” SHINee’s success into the world stage with their popularity in London and SMTown Live performance in Paris shows us once again K-pop’s growing popularity across the world.
Junchi Sports devoted a headline of “SHINee is Asia’s Beatles, First Asia Studio Live Showcase on Abbey Road“, while Sankai Sports stated “Beatles Craze“, and Sports Nipun reported “SHINee, Te Beatles, hits London ‘Abbey Road’ Live! Taken the first entry into the world.”

Celebrity airport fashion is always eye-catching, but these two SHINee boys sure know how to make you look twice!
Celebrity airport fashion is always eye-catching, but these two SHINee boys sure know how to make you look twice!
As they were making their way to Paris for the “SM Town Live in Paris” concerts, SHINee’s Key andJonghyun were snapped in these interesting printed tops. Key was seen in a black zip-up vest splashed with white polka dots, while Jonghyun was seen in a bright T-shirt with a zigzag print.
Key’s unconventional vest is right on point – polka dots made their comeback this spring/summer season with both guys and girls. Though it may be trendy at the moment, I’m not a huge fan of polka dots on guys in general. The bottom line is, I wouldn’t want to see my boyfriend sporting a dotted vest!
On the other hand, Jonghyun’s T-shirt may be loud and obnoxious at first, but a second glance had me actually liking it! If he were to wear any other shirt, he would look no different than the average person on the street. It’s the colors and print of this T-shirt that really help kick up his casual fashion to the next level.

After performing in Paris a little over a week ago, SHINee hit Europe once again, but this time they headed for London!
When SHINee landed in the airport at London on June 18th, they were received with much welcome from their European fans, further proving their international fame beyond Asia.
So why are the boys in London?
Not for another SMTOWN Live concert, sadly. However, SHINee fans will be able to see the boys at the Abbey Road Studios on the 19th at 3 PM for their special Japanese debut live event, called “Japan Debut Premium Reception in London“. SHINee is scheduled to perform their Japanese debut single ‘Replay‘ on this day.

When the quintet landed in London, fans reportedly welcomed SHINee with much enthusiasm. Much like your typical fan girls, SHINee’s European fans came ready with their individual names on placards and were screaming ‘oppa’ out of joy. Although there is a significant cultural difference between Europe and Korea, it seems as if fan girl-ism translates the same throughout all parts of the world.
In regards to their airport fashion, the SHINee boys came out of the airport looking quite trendy with sunglasses and hats – an airport staple for any celebrity – paired along with simple outfits. While walking out of the airport, it was also reported that members Key and Jonghyun gave a little fan service to their dedicated fans by looking towards the cameras as fans snapped away.
While the event is a great opportunity for SHINee’s European fans to connect with the five, SMTOWN knows that many will not be able to attend for whatever circumstance. Therefore, they will be updating their Facebook page during the event, so make sure you check out their Facebook!

20 Februari:
SHINee fans were delighted with the candid interview the boys had on the February 18th episode of KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Relay“.
The interview kicked off with member Jonghyun revealing that he didn’t think himself to be handsome. This prompted the members to ask Jonghyun about what his mother thought, and with a laugh, Jonghyun responded, “She thinks I’m handsome.”
He then shared a childhood photo where he’s posing in just his swim trunks. He grinned, “I was a lot prettier as a child“, and the show put up the caption “Sexy Jonghyun” next to the photo, which amused viewers greatly.
When asked to choose a physical attribute that he was confident in (aside from his looks), Jonghyun replied, “Shoulders, maybe?”
During the show’s ‘truth’ corner, member Minho was asked to choose his ideal woman, to which he shyly replied, “I like women older than me.”
When asked why, he continued, “For some reason, I like older women more than younger women. I feel more comfortable and at ease.”
The reporter then revealed that she had heard Onew was quite the drinker. Although Onew refused to admit it, Key confessed, “Onew-hyung pours the alcohol! He doesn’t just drink it, he pours it into his body!”
Taemin was then asked whether he thought he had the oldest mental age in the group. He replied, “False!“, and then attempted to go into a long and serious discussion to have some fun with the question.
Minho continued, “When we aren’t able to take care of him, he always tells us it’s okay and is always trying to be understanding.”

2 Januari:
Setelah sukses pada konser pertama di Korea, SHINee kembali untuk bagian kedua “SHINee World” tgl 2 Januari
Mereka mengadakan press conference sebelum konser dimulai, dan menyapa press dengan menyatakan, “Being able to perform so many songs on such a big stage is exciting. We feel that we’ll be able to show how much we’ve improved.”
Jonghyun , “I don’t believe that the audience number is all that important for any stage. Whether there’s one audience member or ten thousand, we’ll be doing our best for the concert.”
Minho, yang ditanyakan mengenai resolusinya untuk tahun ini menyatakan, “We had a lot of achievements in 2010, and we’ll be working even harder this year with our own unique color to show everyone our improvements. My goal is to become friendlier with our fans.”
Taemin, “I was young so I always heard people say that I was just good, but now that I’ll soon become an adult, I need to work harder. Honestly, when we first debuted, I wasn’t that great at singing so I did get a bit greedier with this concert.”
Onew, “Taemin would go rehearse as soon as our schedules were finished in the morning. He’s always working so hard, and even though he’s the maknae, I’d like to learn from him.”
Saat ditanya bantuan apa yang diperoleh dari artis lain yang satu label, SHINee menjawab, “SNSD, TVXQ, and the Super Junior seniors all came to support us and told us to ‘enjoy the stage with our fans.’ They were of great help to us and gave us a lot of advice as well.”
Key, “I always participated on our senior’s stages for featuring parts, such as with Jessica and TVXQ; I’ve always declared that I wanted to hold my own concert some day. They would reply that I should watch and learn since we’ll be holding our own someday. It was really helpful.”
Mereka juga ditanyakan mengenai konsernya di Taiwan dan Jepang. “We believe that we earned our popularity in Japan due to the roads our seniors had paved.”
Jonghyun, “We never thought that 12,000 people would attend, so we’re very thankful. Through their interest in us, we hope to raise awareness about Korean culture. Before we left for Japan, we were tutored on Japan’s culture and language through dramas and animations. Key in particular is picking up the language fast.”
Key juga ditanyakan mengapa ia memilih f(x) Krystal untuk solo duet panggungnya, ia menjawab, “I needed a female role in my solo stage, so I began to wonder who would push me away coldly when I went up to her. I figured that Krystal would fit that role, and she was great.”
SHINee telah menyelesaikan konser hari pertamanya dan ditanyakan apakah mereka memiliki kekecewaan. Key menjawab, “The more I think about it, the more I’m not satisfied with everything. All I’m left with is disappointment.” Onew, yang ditanyakan nilai dari penampilan konser mereka, menjawab, “About 30 points out 300 points.”
Konser tersebut menampilkan high-paced action cuts dengan aerial performances, moving cars, 15-member orchestra, lasers, fountain show, dll.
