On September 19th, the National Assembly conducted a special reformation inspection discussion meeting. Han Ye Seul was scheduled to be a prominent figure at the meeting but she unfortunately couldn’t make it. The chairman of the National Assembly of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (NACST)stated, “Actress Han Ye Seul who requested a seat at this event has failed to attend this meeting due to reasons pertaining to her health.”
Han Ye Seul was expected to be questioned in regards to the issues she recently had with the staff of ‘Spy Myung Wol‘, possible reformation of production environments, amongst other similar related topics. Although she was expected to attend, it is not mandatory to participate in the inspection.
Korean Singers Association president and trot singer Tae Jin Ah was expected to attend but was also MIA due to a performance scheduled on the same day. VP Yoo Yeol was in attendance on his behalf, with permission to do so from the chairman of NACST.
2 September:
Previously, actress Han Ye Seul was rumored to be dating a businessman with plans of marriage. Earlier today, a new wave of rumors began to circulate, saying that she was dating a man who was a major shareholder in the broadcast industry.
In response, Sidus HQ immediately stepped up to dismiss the false reports.
On September 2nd, representatives stated, “We directly checked in with her, and she said herself that the reports were not true. She’s extremely upset over this entire ordeal. Han Ye Seul is focused on her drama filming, and every time such false reports are made, she feels pressured because she feels like she’s putting the rest of the staff and co-stars in harm’s way.”
They continued, “We’re discussing the possibility of legal action to prevent such unfounded information from being reported.”
17 August:
Actress Han Ye Seul has released an official apology to the public through her agency sidusHQ.
The apology released on August 17th states:
“Hello, this is Han Ye Seul.I sincerely apologize for having caused so many people to worry.Especially to the team at KBS2’s ‘Spy Myung Wol‘ – all the staff members, my seniors, my co-star Eric, and fellow actors – I am deeply sorry.I fully realize the heavy responsibility I carry in the current situation.I will take everyone’s scolding to heart, and although I am lacking in many ways, I promise to give my all towards the responsibility I have left.Once again, I bow my head and sincerely apologize to everyone.I will try my hardest to bring about a successful conclusion.”
After returning to Seoul, it was said that Han Ye Seul headed directly to the KBS headquarters and reconciled with the producers through tears.
Over the course of an hour, Han Ye Seul and representatives from her agency apologized to the head of KBS’s drama department Go Young Tak and other officials from the drama department.
After a long conversation, the meeting concluded with a round of applause. Han Ye Seul emerged from the meeting room while holding her mother’s hand with a slightly brighter facial expression, and the representatives from the drama department escorted them outside.
The drama department chief, Go Young Tak, released a statement saying, “Han Ye Seul has apologized through tears, and everything has all ended well.”
KBS expects to start filming again for ‘Spy Myung Wol’ on the 18th.
Having caused an unprecedented controversy over the past few days with her refusal to film for “Spy Myung Wol“, actress Han Ye Seul flew to Los Angeles to escape from the media pressure around her. On August 17th, she made a dramatic return back to Seoul and was greeted by a crush of reporters.
Han Ye Seul arrived at Incheon International Airport at around 17:10 KST. She was seen wearing the same grey hoodie and cap which she had on when she left just two days earlier. She looked visibly fatigued after taking a flight to Los Angeles, and then directly coming back in less than 48 hours.
As she stepped out of the arrival gate, the media swarmed around her, asking a bevy of questions regarding her opinion about the current situation and her future plans. Han Ye Seul looked distressed as she said, “Sorry. From now on, I wish to start again.”
She continued, “I just wanted everyone to understand how difficult and poor the working conditions for actors are. I didn’t want to see someone else become a victim like me. I know that I am at fault, causing a lot of trouble and obstacles for the cast and staff on set.”
Han Ye Seul frankly stated, “However, I believe that what I did was right because if I didn’t do this, the working conditions will not change.”
She added, “This decision was made due to high levels of stress and anxiety. I hope people will understand what I did, and also, I hope that this becomes an opportunity for people in the industry to reflect on these conditions.”
Han Ye Seul was then escorted away from the terminal by her associates. She is scheduled to return to the “Spy Myung Wol” set later this evening.
16 August:
According to a Korean-American news agency, the actress arrived at L.A.’s LAX airport in the early morning, having left Korea on the afternoon of August 15th.
Reports state that Han Ye Seul commented, “The drama production scene was very hard. I’ve dropped everything now. The rumors surrounding Hwang In Hyuk PD [and myself] are not true. I want to rest.”
She added, “With this incident [as a stepping stone], I hope my junior actors will be able to film dramas in a good environment.”
The controversy involving Han Ye Seul stemmed from her refusal to show up for scheduled filming with ‘Spy Myung Wol’. For two consecutive days, the production crew was on standby with little idea as to when Han Ye Seul would return to the set. Han Ye Seul flew to the U.S. yesterday, and KBS are now preparing for an emergency press conference this afternoon on the 16th.

On May 2nd, the actress was called to the police station for hitting the car of Mr. Do in her apartment parking lot without filing an accident report. Mr. Do claimed that he could not move for the next two weeks because of the injuries he sustained from this ‘hit-and-run’.
SidusHQ stated, “The accident took place in Han Ye Seul’s apartment parking lot and the driver of the other car is the chaffeur of another resident. We’re sorry the accident happened but it wasn’t serious. It was a minor situation that involved hitting the other’s driver’s rear end with a rearview mirror. The report was filed one-sidedly, and we’re now working to reach an agreement.”
A representative for Han Ye Seul stated, “She is going to the police on May 6th to give an eyewitness account of what happened. There are some questionable parts of the other person’s report so we’re going to provide CCTV videos as well as call histories. We’re sorry for causing a controversy.”
She added,”Han Ye Seul is preparing to film for KBS’s ‘Spy’s Full Moon‘ as planned.”
