Jang Woo Hyuk

5 Mar:

Jang Woo Hyuk has been cast as the lead for upcoming Chinese drama ‘Secret Angel‘.
Following ‘My Forgetful Girlfriend‘, which recently wrapped up filming, this is the second Chinese drama he will star in. His company WH Entertainment said that he will be playing the role of Hwan, a charismatic Grim Reaper.
‘Secret Angel’ will air in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and around 27 main cities with digital TV, before airing it on cable TV.  This is a 10-episode drama that will also air weekly on sohu.com. ActressKim So Eun and Chinese actor Chun Si Ang will also star in the drama.
His company rep said, “He has been receiving a lot of love calls from Chinese drama producers because of his recent casting in two Chinese dramas. This will be another good opportunity for Jang Woo Hyuk to reach out to young Chinese viewers.”
The preview for the drama will be revealed on the 14th.

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk has set out to create his own idol group!
According to his agency, WH Entertainment, open auditions to search for the next world star will start on March 10th. A representative for WH stated, “This audition is not only to search for stars who will promote in Korea, but to search for stars who can actively promote in Asia and Europe. Jang Woo Hyuk himself plans to be their producer.”
Jang Woo Hyuk, who debuted in 1996 with the original idol group H.O.T.is currently actively promoting as a solo artist, going back and forth between China and Japan. He was also recently cast as the role of ‘An Kang’ in the Chinese drama ‘My Forgetful Girlfriend, which has fans waiting in anticipation to see his acting skills.
Jang Woohyuk, who has made a name for himself as one of the best dancers in Asia, revealed “I will use all the experience and the know-how I gained from my time in an idol group and from promoting Hallyu, to train my hoobaes.” He added, “I’m going to make them into a perfect group whose strong point is their performance, and who won’t fail even in the world market.

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk who has been in cast in a new Chinese drama expressed his excitement as well as his concerns.

On December 26th, the singer wrote on his me2day page, “Did you guys have a good Christmas? I guess I will be in Hainan for this New Year’s. I’m headed to Beijing to film my drama. I never imagined that I would be in a drama. I’ll be back soon, I’m excited to see a different side of myself and hope to be pleasantly surprised by a new me.”
So worried about my Chinese drama in March, so worried. I will be sure to show you what horrible acting looks like. Jang Woo Hyuk- displaying Hallyu’s ‘bad acting’ for the very first time.”
The actor also shared four selca shots of himself, looking chic and stylish while rocking a pair of black-rimmed glasses with a black scarf and black shirt to match.

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk has promised his fans that he’ll show them an amazing time at his concert in Japan.

He updated his me2day on December 4th with a post that read: “My Stage. Finally, a performance in Japan. I can’t believe I’m here, it’s bringing tears to my eyes. This is something I’ve thought about in my dreams. I promise you guys an amazing show tomorrow. If there’s anyone that feels the concert was a waste of money, I will personally reimburse you. I will show you what a great performance is supposed to look like. It needs to be done like this.”
In the photo, Jang Woo Hyuk confidently poses with a ‘V’ sign to express his sheer determination in pulling off a great show. The photo seems to have been taken during a soundcheck at the event facility.

2 December:
As reported earlier, Jang Woo Hyuk has signed up for a Chinese drama called, “My Sileok Girlfriend“. Unfortunately, this caused a direct conflict with his promotion plans, and in the end, he was forced to choose between them.

On December 2nd, Jang Woo Hyuk wrote a tweet expressing his sorrow on being unable to promote his new album.
“I’m sad that filming for a Chinese drama overlapped with my domestic album promotions,” he said.“It’s really unfortunate. To my fans (who are like my family), please understand and respect my decision. For 3 months I’ve decided to go all-in filming for a Chinese drama. I will work hard and return.”
Netizens replied, “It’s really unfortunate that they overlapped. I hope that you will succeed as an actor”and “Since I won’t be able to see Jang Woo Hyuk’s performances, I’ll look forward to his awesome acting skills then.”
Jang Woo Hyuk had released his 4th mini-album, ‘Back to the Memories‘, in mid-November and was preparing to promote his title track of the same name.
A representative from Jang Woo Hyuk’s agency promised his fans, “As soon as he finishes filming the Chinese drama, he will meet his domestic fans again with a new album.”
Jang Woo Hyuk will be working with actress Nam Gyuri in this drama, who plays the role of a billionaire that lost her memories and moves into a man’s house to become a housekeeper. The drama is scheduled to air in mid-2012.

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk will be making his small-screen debut on a Chinese drama series.
He has been in cast as the main role in the new Chinese drama, ‘My Sileok Girlfriend‘. An insider reported, “Jang Woo Hyuk has developed a strong fan base in China. Although he does not have much acting experience, there are numerous Chinese fans that wanted to see him on the small-screen, and therefore has been selected as the main male lead“.
Jang Woo Hyuk will be heading over to China at the end of the month. He will reside there for about three months until filming for the series comes to an end. The insider continued, “The dialogue in Chinese dramas are dubbed, so he shouldn’t have such a difficult time filming. The drama will air sometime in mid-2012“.
‘My Sileok Girlfriend’ is a romantic comedy about the events that occur due to a girlfriend who has lost her memory.

Former H.O.T member Jang Woo Hyuk has made a comeback with his 4th mini-album, ‘Back to the Memories‘.  The album consists of four tracks: “Fireworks“, “Don’t Go“, “Back to the Memories“, and “Diary“.
Just as the album title implies, the concept for this new project is about revisiting your past memories. Fans were surprised to hear a slower style from Jang Woo Hyuk, who’s known for being a living dance machine. Jang Woo Hyuk’s medium-tempo ballad, “Back to the Memories”, drew especial interest with its music video release today.
Commenting on his comeback, Jang Woo Hyuk expressed, “These tracks took almost ten years of preparation, and surprisingly they are all ballad songs.  “Back to the Memories” is something I started writing back in my JTL days.  The song has finally been revealed to the outside world.”

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk showcased his close relationship with his former H.O.T members.
The singer was promoting his new song Back to the Memories on his Twitter page and also revealed, “This song was actually one we were going to use during our jTL days. When are we H.O.T members getting together again? TonyJaewon… I know you guys aren’t that busy. Let’s get together soon!”
The singer also revealed photos of a script from their very first performance. “This is the first show we ever went on. ‘Joyful Saturday‘ back on September 5th 1996… I still treasure this. I’m probably the only one that still has it. This is what you called limited edition. Jang Woo Hyuk, Moon Hee JunAhn Chil Hyun (Kangta), Ahn Seung Ho (Tony), Lee Jae Won.”

Singer Jang Woo Hyuk revealed some cool futuristic sneakers that can automatically tie it’s own shoelaces.
On September 24th, Jang Woo Hyuk tweeted, “Late night good news. It was really, really hard to get this limited edition of the Nike Mag “Marty McFly” but it finally came. I’m revealing it to you guys first. Even though I’m happy to have these I’m even more glad that I’m also helping out the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease,” along with pictures above.
The Nike Mag “Marty McFly” that Jang Woo Hyuk purchased were a futuristic model sneakers from the hit movie, ‘Back to the Future’.
Known for his love towards sneakers and being a big fan of Michael J. Fox, Jang Woo Hyuk bought the Nike Mag “Marty McFly”, estimated to cost around $3500 – $5000 at auction. It was also revealed that all the proceeds from this shoe will be donated towards the Michael J. Fox Foundation to combat Parkinson’s disease.
Meanwhile, Jang Woo Hyuk also revealed that he will be using these shoes as props in the music video for his upcoming mini album slated for release in November.

On August 27th, the star wrote on his Me2Day, “I am now at Incheon Airport in Seoul! Sigh~ arrival. I miss everyone”.
In the attached picture, netizens were able to see Jang Woo Hyuk pose on the auto-ramp at the airport. Jang Woo Hyuk puckers up his lips as though he is asking for a kiss.

Jang Woo Hyuk recently showed off his luxurious accommodations in China through a video uploaded on his me2day.

On August 24th, he jokingly posted on his me2day “I’m going to show the frugal housing in China that I’m staying at. Everyone lives like this, even though it’s small, there’s a swimming pool. Even though it’s tiring to walk on the 2nd floor, I’m being patient“.

Jang Woo Hyuk’s video showed off the inside and outside of his luxurious accommodations.
In the video, while coming down to the 1st floor, Jang Woo Hyuk joked around, saying “Doesn’t everyone live like this? I’m living frugally. All houses have 2 floors. The people who live well have a 3rd and 4th floor“.
He also showed his swimming pool in his yard and stated, “Only a swimming pool.”

He also wrote on his me2day, “China housing, everyone lives like this, I’m the coolest, please forgive me one more time for joking… Jang Woo Hyuk genius, Jang Woo Hyuk without a girlfriend, please contact me“.

On July 22nd, Jang Woo Hyuk showed off pictures of his private jet through a picture update on his Me2day.

Jang Woo Hyuk wrote, “Blog update gogogo. Jang Woo Hyuk’s private jet. Scandal with a beautiful stewardess?”
Along with some fun interior and exterior shots of his jet, he also included a picture of himself posing with victory signs beside a stewardess. The private jet was revealed to have actually been sent by his Chinese management to ensure easier travel between his Korean and Chinese activities. His Korean activities had made it difficult for him to participate in Chinese concerts otherwise.

With his current promotions for “Weekend Night,” the singer has been busy both domestically as well as dealing with his international activities. In order to attend an event in Urumqi, China, Jang Woo Hyuk enjoyed the luxurious privacy of flying on a private jet.
His representatives WH Entertainment said, “Jang Woo Hyuk didn’t actually buy nor charter the jet for himself but rather the management in China sent it over for him to use. A lot of top Chinese stars are utilizing private jets for traveling. Jang Woo Hyuk will likely be using the jet frequently for his upcoming performances in China.”
Jang Woo Hyuk will soon begin his official promotions around Asia to meet with his international fans.

A recent tweet from Jang Woo Hyuk has got fans excited for a possible JTL reunion!

On July 1st, Jang Woo Hyuk tweeted, “It’s been a long time. [July] 7th coming soon,” along with a photo of the former JTL members, Tony Ahn and Lee Jae Won.
For those of you who aren’t well-versed in old school Kpop, JTL was a group consisting of three members from H.O.T. that formed after the three decided to part ways with SM Entertainment.
In the picture, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony Ahn, and Lee Jae Won show off their charisma while posing next to a luxurious sports car. While it seems like the three are filming a music video in the photo, Jang Woo Hyuk never clarified any reasons nor explanations behind their sudden reunion.

Former H.O.T singer Jang Woo Hyuk made a late confession of once being an outcast of the group for being favored by SM Entertainment’s former CEO, Lee Soo Man.

During this week’s recording of MBC Dramanet’s “Mi In Do“, Jang Woo Hyuk unveiled, “During the H.O.T days, there were times when the company’s producer and CEO Lee Soo Man would say to me, ‘You are the pillar of H.O.T’ and ‘You are the reason why H.O.T exists’, while the other members were in the same room. He tended to show a special attachment towards me.”
He continued, “Whenever he did, I could always fell that the facial expressions of the other members were not good, and in the end, I became the target of constantly being checked on without the members knowing.”
On the upside, however, Jang Woo Hyuk managed to gain hidden powers over the group as he added,“With the CEO’s acknowledgement for me, I had a huge influence on the team, even when Tony joined.”
During the recording, the former member also talked about the time when he got in a collar-grabbing fight with leader Moon Hee Jun, and also revealed a story of when he bashed his dorm refrigerator because of his ex-girlfriend.
The full episode is set to air this coming June 24th.

Although he’s just made a comeback, singer Jang Woo Hyuk was unfortunately swept up in a plagiarism controversy. Netizens had speculated that his “Time is [L]Over” track carried a chorus that’s similar to B2ST’s “Freeze.

In response, the star clarified the issue through his Me2day by writing, “I have read the reports of plagiarism regarding ‘Time is [L]Over. First of all, ‘Time is [L]over’ was created before B2ST’s ‘Freeze’.  The chorus in question also cannot be a problem as Shinsadong Tiger created both parts.”
He continued, “Junior Yong Junhyung also wrote the rap, which made the song that much more impressive. I’m very happy for that, so fans, please don’t be too worried.”
Shinsadong Tiger had also previously written, “‘Time is [L]Over’ was created before B2ST’s ‘Freeze.’ Although the two choruses have similar melodies, the details of the song and the way it flows is completely different.”

After completing his comeback through SBS’s “Inkigayo” on May 29th, singer Jang Woo Hyuk held a small guerrilla fan meeting for the first time in five years.
It’s been only days since the release of his third mini-album, and he’s already off to an explosive start, ranking first on various live music charts and search portals. 
As a special treat for his patient fans, the singer met them outside the practice field of Deunghyun Elementary School in order to spend some extra quality time together.
After the event, he took to his Twitter to write, “It was moving to think that there are still so many people who are my fans. Thank you so much. I will work hard for an eternity for all of you. I promise to never lose this mindset and to focus entirely on my stage.”

Veteran idol and member of legendary group, H.O.T.Jang Woo Hyuk has returned to the music scene after an absence of more than five years. The famed dancer returns with his new mini album, “I AM THE FUTURE,” which plays on the words of H.O.T.’s hit 1998 track, “We are the Future.”
In addition, WH Entertainment released the music video for the comeback title track, “Time Is [L]Over “!
“Time Is [L]Over ” is the title track off of his mini album, and the track was a collaboration betweenShinsadong Tiger (who he has worked with since his first solo album) and producer Joker (who has previously worked on B2ST’s albums).
With its strong rhythm and guitar riff, the song talks about how time seemed to stand still at the moment he had broken up with his lover.

Jang Woo Hyuk is back, ladies and gents!
Known as the H.O.T. member with the strongest dance moves, Jang Woo Hyuk showed off his skills through this short teaser clips of his comeback track, “The Day Time Stood Still“.
It looks like he was inspired by the film, “The Day The Earth Stood Still“, as he busted out his ‘robot’ moves and churned out a video with futuristic influences.
We can’t wait for his comeback on the 25th, but in the meantime, we’ll settle for watching his teaser clips!

After teasing his fans with a group photo from the filming of his comeback MV a few days ago, former H.O.T singer Jang Woo Hyuk teased his fans once more with a short video of some of his slick ‘finger’ dance moves.
In the video, Jang displays a one minute ‘performance’ of some mind-blowing finger tricks with the help of a fellow dancer. It seems as though the video was filmed out of spontaneity during a casual dance practice session, as Jang can be seen sporting comfortable red tracks with a plain black T-shirt.

Late last month, Jang Woo Hyuk alerted fans of his comeback by revamping his official homepage, “WH World“. The veteran singer seems to finally be gearing up for his comeback, as he’s released a new photo featuring the entire cast of his music video team.
The caption read, “On a day where it was scarily raining… We filmed the music video for two days!! Safely, with the best of the best of staff.. It was a lot of fun.”
Netizens immediately noticed the top tier line-up of staff members he was with, such as fashion designer Ha Sang Beg, who will be Jang Woo Hyuk’s style and concept director. Fans commented, “Waiting for your music video! Fighting!“, and “Please come out soon!
Jang Woo Hyuk’s mini-album will drop on May 25th, followed by his official comeback stage on the 27th.
