Sunny Hill has finally completed their first week of comeback stages for their latest hit track, “Is the White Horse Coming?“.
Meant to be a criticism against a society that finds love in superficial numbers and treats people as investment opportunities, the song has earned the widespread support of music fans all across the board. Not only did it climb to the top just moments after its release, but the girls’ unique and creative concept combined with their impeccable live skills have earned them the praise of viewers everywhere.
Upon watching their comeback stages, netizens praised, “I can’t get enough of the song. All of Sunny Hill’s songs are so addictive“, “The members seem to have gotten prettier. The stage is so much more lively!“, and “The song is so addicting!“.

18 January:
Sunny Hill is a pop group known not just for their meaningful music, but for their strong visuals as well. When they revealed their jacket cover for ”The Grasshoppers“, they received loud approval from both fans and netizens alike.
Recently, the group released a making-of video from their jacket photoshoot. Fans got to see the members deliver different poses for the camera, as well as goof around backstage.
At one point, Misung, Kota, and Jang Hyun showed off their close relationship by joking around. “We’re brothers… the three brothers,” they said. The joke was inspired by how all three members rocked a short, side-swept haircut.
You can check out their making-of video below:
12 January:
Talented pop quintet Sunny Hill have just released their new single album, ‘The Grasshoppers‘.
Comprised of three tracks, the group will be promoting “The Grasshopper Song” as their main song. “Bad Guy” has groovy bebop influence, while “Hide and Seek” plays with a futuristic sound. The lead song, amusingly enough, incorporates a violin as a tip of the hat to the Aesop’s Fable character who inspired their lyrics.
Check out the single below, and don’t forget to support the group by purchasing their music!

5 January:
Sunny Hill has announced that they’ll be making a comeback this month with a new maxi-single!
The co-ed group received much love in 2011 for their powerful performances and unique lyrics with songs like “Midnight Circus” and “Pray“. They’re coming back this time with an image stronger than ever that plays up to their mysterious concepts.
Looking like a mix of sexy rockers against a hospital backdrop, the group combines muted colors and shades with an eye popping blue and some dramatic hair transformations.
Cho Young Chul, who worked with the group for their last album as well as produce for the likes of IUand Brown Eyed Girls, will be overseeing the direction of the album alongside composer Lee Min Sooand lyricist Kim Eana.
Loen Entertainment expressed, “The best staff in Korean will be producing Sunny Hill’s maxi-single so we’re sure that it will be a satisfactory album with the fans. Please look forward to it.”
9 August:
Sunny Hill released a haunting music video a few days back for their follow-up song, “Pray“, which gotbanned from airplay due to its scenes of abusive horror.
While the group has decided not to re-edit the scenes because they wanted to protect the integrity of their work, they did release a making-of video to satisfy their fans.
In it, fans can watch actor Lee Jae Yong getting primed in the makeup room as the staff work around him to put on his mask. Lee Jae Yong plays the MV’s main character, the ‘Creature’, who was treated as an outcast and villain because of his disfigured looks.
While the Lee Jae Yong certainly wowed the audience with his poignant performance of the Creature’s pain and suffering, many more wanted to know how he could transform into such a realistic monster. Check out the clip below to find out!

Loen Entertainment later added a second making-of video onto their YouTube channel, this time for the filming of the members’ scenes in the MV.

7 August:
Sunny Hill’s controversial music video isn’t the only thing attracting attention, as careful listeners have also noticed that only a portion of the members actually sing in their latest track, “Prayer“.
As Sunny Hill is a five member co-ed group, fans were confused to hear only the voices of Jubi, Seung Ah, and Kota. Janghyun and Misung only made appearances in the music video and don’t actually participate in the song. Member Janghyun was absent from the group’s previous promotions with “Midnight Circus” as well, leaving fans anxious to know why.
Loen Entertainment explained, “To better bring out the concept and style of ‘Midnight Circus’, only the female members went on stage to perform. Sunny Hill has decided to continue the idea by only using members that fit the song’s concept the best.”
They continued, “‘Prayer’ is an extremely sorrowful song. The group decided that only the voices of Jubi, Seung Ah, and Kota would match.”
“Prayer” was produced by KZ and is classified as a hybrid ballad track that illustrates the crumbling heart of a woman left by her lover.
4 August:
Many have probably expected it by now, but Sunny Hill’s latest music video for “Prayer” has been banned from broadcast networks KBS and MBC because of its “abusive nature.”
The music video was unveiled on August 5th, but fans unfortunately won’t be seeing it on TV any time soon as it failed to pass the regulations for KBS and MBC. Loen Entertainment replied, “Both broadcast networks criticized the scene where the man sticks a needle in the mutant’s head to draw blood.”
Other scenes were brought up for questioning, such as the scene where Misung and Janghyun chase the mutant to shoot him down with a tranquilizer, and another scene where his death is predicted with a jar containing his ear. The scenes were said to have raised issues of abuse.
Loen Entertainment continued, “We’re currently discussing whether or not we will be re-submitting the movie for another evaluation. The movie is of a sorrowful nature, which fits the song’s atmosphere. We hope that people will look at the story as a whole as opposed to picking apart the scenes.”
2 August:
Sunny Hill have returned with an MV teaser that’s downright chilling.
The group are preparing to release their follow-up song, “Pray“, for which its music video teaser was released today. The clip seems to promise a story similar to ‘Frankenstein’, as we see a monster with human qualities try to escape from his prison. He’s involved with a beautiful young woman who seems to be both his captor and hunter.

Sunny Hill’s “Midnight Circus” comeback has definitely done wonders in getting them some much-needed recognition. The song is still going strong on the digital charts one month after its release, and has been doing well despite competition from other popular idol groups.
The members recently sat down for an interview with Kuki News and shared their thoughts on the changes they’ve undergone in their music and members.
They began, “We saw our rank and joked that we were ‘tattooed’ between the ranks #10 and #13 because we always maintained our position. If we dropped, we’d get back up, and when we get higher up, we’d go back down to where we were. The people around us said that it’s better for us to maintain our position in the top 10 as opposed to ranking first and dropping right away.”
Ever since they made their comeback, a lot of people have mistaken them for idols. Sunny Hill – who debuted back in 2007 - have vocalized that they’re anything but.
Jubi and Misung said, “It feels great knowing that we can receive the same treatment that idol groups receive. It feels like a compliment when people think we’re idols, especially since we’re older [than most idols]. Idols have the impressive ability to dance and sing at the same time, so we don’t think of it as a criticism to be compared to them.”
When asked about their feelings on their lackluster debut and their inability to catch the attention of the public, Jang Hyun revealed, “As opposed to feeling upset over it, we worked on trying to find something new. We knew that it wasn’t the end for us and prepared for the future. We pursued new music and even brought in new members. Over time, it’s been a growth period for Sunny Hill.”
Jubi and Misung continued, “There’s a big difference now compared to our first stage. The audience looked at us as if they were asking who we were, but now we can feel that they know that we are Sunny Hill. It’s cool hearing ‘Midnight Circus’ play in the streets. Our parents also didn’t know when we were promoting, but now people have begun to ask them if so-and-so was their daughter, which makes them very proud.”

Our parents also didn’t know when we were promoting, but now people have begun to ask them if so-and-so was their daughter, which makes them very proud.”
Speaking on the addition of new members and the focus being put on the females of the group, Jang Hyun said, “I stepped in as the producer of the group and supported the other members. Like the title of the song, I tried to give the feel of a circus, which incorporates both musical and performance aspects. As a result, I pondered on what would make the stage the prettiest possible and realized that it’d be better for me to step back and let the other members stand on stage. I have, of course, thought of wanting to join them, but for now, I’m proud of just watching them performing.”
He continued, “We mainly focused on ’soft’ music before, which ultimately lacked in bringing anything to our stage. But with the addition of two new members, we’re able to bring out a variety of expressions.”
Sunny Hill also caught the attention of international fans, which they acknowledged in the interview. Seungah and Kota said, “International fans have begun to perform dance covers of our song on YouTube, which we think is amazing to watch since they’re able to follow us with just music alone. We’re also thankful that they always leave us mentions on Twitter, even though we can’t understand them.”
They’re a five member co-ed group for now, but the members emphasized that anything could turn up on stage because they’re prepared to evolve and transform to fit better fit their music.
When asked to choose one thing that they felt would help maintain their popularity, they said, “We have so many things to show, and they’re already being planned.”
16 July:
After breaking their two-year hiatus with “Midnight Circus“, Sunny Hill will be concluding their promotion cycle on this week’s music programs.
Armed with a self-produced album, the group returned with an upgraded and dramatic image that’s done wonders for them in terms of gaining public recognition.
Loen Entertainment revealed, “We’d like to thank all the fans for showing their love and support for ‘Midnight Circus’. We ask that you continue to anticipate Sunny Hill’s upcoming digital single.”
The group won’t be gone for long, as they’ll be making a comeback in the beginning of August with a new digital single, featuring the full version of “Prayer“.
A one minute-long preview of the song was included in their last EP release.
