Starting from Seoul before traveling to Manila, Beijing, Bangkok, Singapore, Shanghai, Yokohama, Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei, Super Junior’s third Asian tour finally arrived in Ho Chi Minh City for a show in Vietnam.
On May 7th, Super Junior opened their ‘Super Show 3‘ show in Go Dau Stadium to the screams of thousands of fans. Even though the weather was not in their favor and rain was pouring everywhere, about 9,000 fans came to the stadium to see Super Junior.
During the concert, the popular idol group performed many of their hit songs, including ‘Sorry Sorry‘, ‘U‘, and ‘BONAMANA‘. They also held solo performances in addition to stages from Super Junior-T and Super Junior-M. The concert lasted for 3 hours with 35 performances that captured the hearts of Vietnamese fans.
Vietnam’s press, including THANH NIÊNXONE FM, and YAN TV covered the event and even celebrities Ho Ngoc Ha and Thanh Hang came to see the performance.
The promoter for the event, Viet Vision, stated, “We were honored that one of the top Asian groups, Super Junior, held a concert in Vietnam. With this successful concert as the starting point, we hope that many more good quality concerts will take place here.

Super Show 3 in Vietnam

The Super Show 3 stage is the most incredible one to have ever come to Vietnam
The stage–the sound system–the lights, LED screen were packaged in 20 containers (and) shipped from Malaysia (and) China to Vietnam before April 30th. Half of the LED screens were from Trần Linh company in Vietnam. The technical, production, construction, design, and inspection teams from Korea (and) Malaysia and more than 100 staffs from China cooperated with more than 200 construction and production staffs from the Lữ Nhạc company of Vietnam. They had worked day and night with professionalism and innovation in order to create a most complete Super Show 3 stage.
The Super Show 3 stage in Vietnam was considered to be incredible and is the largest outdoor stage and the most expensive stage of Super Junior’s Asia tour. Because it was the last show, the organizer Viet Vision, along with the management company SM Entertainment, had planned extremely carefully and came up with a solution for a stage suitable to the conditions of Gò Đậu stadium with the goal of bringing the best quality so that the Vietnamese and international audience can fully enjoy the last concert night of the group’s Super Show 3 tour. (The tour in other countries had all been indoors, except for China* and Vietnam, which had the stage at an outdoor stadium.)
Additionally, Super Show 3′s stage, sound system, lightning, controls, and LED screens arrived in Vietnam on May 7th** at the Gò Đậu Stadium–Becamex Bình Dương*** is considered to be the largest, most amazing stage ever to have come to Vietnam. The organizer, Viet Vision, had always hoped to bring the best, most meaningful (stage) for the audience for the upcoming concert night. And on the night of the concert, the audience will experience all their hopes and passions which organizer Viet Vision hoped to bring to the audience as well. The organizer also hoped to contribute to the development of the organizing of concerts and entertainment in Vietnam.
The stage will be completed on May 6th, 2011 in order to greet the members of Super Junior in their official rehearsal the night before the concert. And especially special, the band Super Junior will present to the Vietnam and international audience a special performance which the group had practiced specially for Super Show 3 in Vietnam. Take the ticket in your hand and become part of the sapphire blue sea on Saturday, May 7th, 2011.
*Specifically, the Taiwan stop.
**This date doesn’t seem to be consistent, so idk. =/
***I think maybe they ‘named’ the stage this?

A “wet” SuJu returns to the hotel for the last nightThe boys definitely had a night to remember in Vietnam.
After dedicating to the Vietnamese audience a night of amazing music, the SuJu members must have had a good impression towards their Vietnamese fans — they (the fans) did not mind the weather, following them (SJ) for the past two days. After the concert ended, the 12 members of Super Junior once again separated into two groups like they did upon arrival in Vietnam. One group returned to Korea that night, the other stayed until around noon today (May 8th).
The first group consisting of members Leeteuk, Shindong, Heechul, and Yesung had gone straight to Tân Sơn Nhất airport last night to return to Korea first. Said tell, the group arrived at the airport at about 10:30 PM and went through the (airport) procedures with exigency because their flight was to leave right at 11 PM. Because of this urgency, the members were unable to spare a moment to give a farewell to their fans. It was very difficult to obtain pictures of the four members at the airport yesterday night (when they left for Korea).
The second group consisting of the eight remaining members who will stay in Vietnam for one more night returned to the hotel in a state of “wetness” because they had just performed under harsh raining conditions. Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) last night experienced relentless rain. It is said that this second group will depart this morning (the plane will leave around 10 AM this morning). There definitely will still be fans patiently waiting at the hotel and airport in order to give a farewell to their idols.

Siwon kissed Leeteuk up to… two times on the stage of “Super Show 3″?
The anticipated performance night in Vietnam had ended under the rain.
The fervor of Super Junior was officially relieved a few minutes ago. Around past 7 PM, the members of Super Junior caused the whole Gò Đậu Stadium to explode with non-stopping screams. A “sea of sapphire blue” including balloons, glowsticks… began to move, in beat with the music. The song Sorry Sorry was the opening sequence which ignited the passions of the fans right from the start!!!!
Very many of Super Junior’s hit songs were performed right afterward, from the elegant Super Girl (and) the incredibly powerful Don’t Don to the incredibly sweet No Other…
A particularly interesting occasion in between the thrilling performances was leader Leeteuk wore a Vietnamese traditional hat which the fans had gifted. “Mr. Handsome” Siwon even had no qualms about wearing a pair of angel wings made of cotton which were also very cute. Other adorable actions were also presented, causing ELF incredible excitement.
Heechul really fired up the atmosphere with the performance of the well-known “queen of eccentricity” Lady Gaga. At the same time, three other members of SuJu also sported tight outfits (while) dancing Single Ladies, also incredibly hot!!!
The rainstorm was small and had let up quickly, but no one seemed to care because on the stage as well as in the audience, the artists and their audience were still deep in the mood of the music that special night!!!
Update: According to the pictures recently released, aside from the kiss shown above*, Siwon and Leeteuk also gave (each other) an additional similar “kiss” in another performance towards the end of the concert. Could this be a loving kiss between the two?
The rush before (the concert):
After the Tân Sơn Nhất airport and Intercontinental hotel (Super Junior’s hotel) became “hotspots”, the whole ELF community of Vietnam had gathered to Gò Đậu Stadium (in) Bình Dương to prepare for waiting for Super Show 3. Having been previously informed from midnight last nigt (May 6th), there were many fans gathering at the stadium to get in line. The amount of ELF continued to increase with time.

Relentless rain could not smolder the “fire” of Super Show
At exactly 7 PM, the stage lit up with cheers of fans, the color of sapphire blue from the lightsticks also adding to create a passionate atmosphere for the performance night. On the screen, the clip introducing SS3 was incredibly impressive with its powerful music and enciting atmosphere. The stage of SS3 truly moved the hearts of fans.
During the first performance, Donghae appeared on stage with a white outfit. He slowly flew up from the round podium at the center of the stage. Then, the members appeared one after another from the center and all four directions presented the group’s “crown” song, Sorry Sorry.
The following song was Super Girl, the song which had given popularity to SJ M.
Still wearing white outfits like princes, Suju performed the song which had given the group popularity during the earlier days, Don’t Don. The fireworks flared bright on stage, scaring member Yesung for a second, but he quickly recovered. The two Chinese members Henry and Zhoumi can out and performed with a style of Rock.
No Other was the next song performed by the group on the SS3 stage.
Each member took on a specific character according to his personality, like Mont Mart*, the bullfighter, King Pharaoh, the native snake-charmer, the native amazon boy, the Buckingham soldier, the Great Wall builder, the knowledgeable Dubai prince ..one after the other came out to greet the audience. Super Junior said “I love you”, and leader Lee Teuk said “Hello” in Vietnamese.
The following song of the concert was Don’t back girl**.
The next song was Good Person. With the hotness in Gò Đậu Stadium, Siwon and Eunhyuk had taken off their shirts, revealing their charming muscles. Suju sang Rogukko. Before that, Siwon appeared very cute with a pair of angel wings, causing more excitement among the audience. Leeteuk wore a traditional Vietnamese hat appearing very “Vietnamese.”
In turn, members Ryeowook (and) Kyuhyun sang their solos. Then, Eunhyuk and Donghae dueted I want I love you. Lee Teuk, with a piano, sang a song in Chinese. Chinese member Henry rocked the stage with Baby Baby.
Sung Min presented a song with a hot performance with female dancers. Then, Eunhyuk with Down. Super Junior M*** sang Tok Tok Tok. Even though busy doing his military service, a life-size cardboard cutout of him was brought on stage^.
Heechul exploded the stage with the Lady Gaga performance with the song Poker Face. ShinDong, Eunhyuk, and Donghae also transformed into charming Beyonce.
At Gò Đậu Stadium, the weather showed signs of rain and the fans began to worry for their idols. Since the weather had been gloomy since the afternoon, many fans brought raincoats.
The Super Junior members went into areas without an overhang, performing under the rain.
Suju continued to perform their hit songs, like Shake it up, TWINS. Subgroup KRY also presented its own songs. The song All My Heart was gifted from the group to ELF, the ones who were always by their side and supporting the group. The small amount of rain did not hamper the atmosphere of SS3. Best vocal Yesung performed the song It Has to be You - the OST of Cinderella Sister.
Super Junior M sang Perfection. The song Bonamana had stirred up the mood of the speakers like never before. Lee Teuk “broke” the stage when he took off his shirt, revealing his sexy upper body. Siwon also tore off his shirt under the increasingly heavy rain.
Suju then performed the exciting songs Dancing Out and You#.
The concert night ended successfully even though it had rained hard. Suju proceeded backstage but not one fan left his or her spot, waiting to see if there was still anything surprising in store. It was a night truly worthwhile for the fans of Suju who had experienced many emotions from their idols.
The big surprise had happened, (and) Super Junior returned to the stage with a performance presenting various vegetables and the songCooking Cooking. All 10 boys were soaked in rain and threw balls of various colors as a parting gift for the audience.
The concert officially ended with the words of thanks and farewell to Suju’s Vietnamese audience. The stage was incredibly slippery and wet, but each member gave his best in the last song. Even though the fans were sad that meeting (with SJ) was under hard rain, they felt that passion and the support was well deserved. With the promise that they (SJ) would return, ELF Vietnam will still have more opportunities to listen to and support the boys of Super Junior.
*Not sure who they’re referring to here… Heechul?
**Pretty sure the song is supposed to be ‘Confession’ instead.
***Probably a mistake; it’s SJ-T, not M.
^The article never mentioned a name, but it’s clear that it’s Kangin.
#Another mistake; I believe it’s ‘It’s You.’

Overview of Super Junior and Super Show 3

Translator’s Note: This article is very long but the information is very interesting. I really like the way they summarize Super Junior as a whole, listing many of the success the boys have had, along with the Super Show so I decided to translate it.
This is my 1st time translating this big of a writing piece so please excuse any typos, grammar mistakes.
Overview of Super Junior and Super Show 3
(2sao) Overcoming the ‘curse’ of 5 years and currently the biggest money-making machine* of SM Entertainment, Super Junior has affirmed their title as a top Korean boy band.
Super Junior (SuJu)
Years active: 2005–2010
Label: SM Entertainment
Sub-units: Super Junior-K.R.Y
Super Junior-T
Super Junior-M
Super Junior-Happy
Website: www.super-junior.co.kr
Members: Leeteuk, Heechul, Hankyung, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kibum, Kyuhyun
From a ‘project’ group…
At the start Super Junior was a ‘project’ group, meaning a temporary band, the original members could be replaced by new members, so the group was therefore called “Super Junior 05”.
- 2005 – 2006: Twins, Miracle and U
Super Junior 05 first appearance was on 2005.11.06 in SBS Popular Song with their single named Twins (Knock Out). The group’s first album – Super Junior05 (Twins) was released (and) in exactly one month later has sold 28,536 copies, ranking 3rd in the album chart of December, 2005. In that same year, “Show Me Your Love”, collaborated with TVXQ/DBSK became the best-selling record of December, 2005 with 49,945 copies sold.
February 2006, Super Junior05 performed Miracle; this was the group’s first song to peak #1 in online music charts of South Korea as well as the music charts of Thailand, drawing interest from international markets.
2005.05.23, the name Super Junior officially debuted, without the suffix “05” and with 13 members; the group released single “U”. Just within five hours of release, (U) had 400,000 downloads and ultimately exceeded 1.7 million downloads, crashing the server. Single “U” with 3 tracks had sold a total of over 81,000 copies and became one of Korea’s most popular songs of the year, ranking #1 for five consecutive weeks on two of Korea’s top music programs. By the end of the year Super Junior received over 7 awards in Korea’s top music award ceremony and won the title “Best New Group of 2006”.
- 2006-2007: Don’t Don and breakthrough success
2007.09.20, the 2nd album Don’t Don was released, selling 160,000 copies, (and) became the 2nd best-selling album of the year. The album had also found success in Taiwan, broke the record, and was the Korean album with the highest ranking on G-Music Combo Billboard Chart, surpassing their famous sunbaes DBSK and Shinhwa. Thanks to Don’t Don, Super Junior was nominated for 7 awards in the KM Music Festival and won 3 out of those 7, including: “Netizen Choice Award”, “Mobile Popularity” and specially the big award “Best Artist of the Year” (Daesang). The group also won “Bonsang” and “TPL Anycall Popularity Award” at the Golden Disk Awards.
- 2008-2009: At the peak with Sorry, Sorry
The 3rd album Sorry, Sorry was released on 2009.03.12, after releasing the preview; in less than a week there were 150,000 pre-orders. Sorry, Sorry quickly ranked #1 on Hanteo Chart and sold 29,000 copies the first day, surpassing the idol Seo Taiji with 25,000 copies. Super Junior’s Sorry, Sorry performance on the program Popular Songs on March 15 helped the ratings increase 14%, highest in the recent years. This song had also came as a storm over the Asian countries, keeping the record of 37 consecutive weeks holding #1 in Taiwan and 8-week consecutively #1 on Thailand’s Channel [V] Countdown Asian chart.
- 2010: Bonamana
2010.05.13, Super Junior’s 4th album Bonamana released with 10 members had broken their own record when there were 200,000 preorders ‘came flying’. “Bonamana” surpassed Sorry, Sorry with 42 weeks as #1 on Taiwan’s KKBOX Chart. 2010.05.17, the music video “Victory Korea” performed by Super Junior to cheer for the Korean soccer team at World Cup became the most favorite sports song, surpassing even Shakira’s “Waka Waka”, K’Nann “Wavin’ Flag” and Akon “Oh Akrica”.
To super idol
Not merely an idol band, Super Junior is worthy of the title “Super Idol” with their strong and diverse activities on many different areas. For example, Lee Teuk, Eun Hyuk, Shin Dong actively participated in all kinds of entertainment shows, from radio shows at night to the comedic trio in Strong Heart, Star King, etc. They are even viewed as the next MC generation of Korea. Meanwhile Dong Hae, Si Won, Sung Min, Shin Dong, etc aren’t hesitating to venture into the seventh art form. Their roles had more or less left a mark on the small screen.
The ‘super idol’ aspect of Super Junior also refers to their intimate, genuine bonds of the 13 young men with their fans, something rare, that no other male and female group in Korea has quite achieved. An article in Philippines last February had analyzed the reason why Super Junior was so terribly appealing. First, their ability to perform a wide spectrum of genres enables them to cater to a wide audience. An article once mentioned they can blend rock, rap and R&B. They also have some talent in sing the classics. This is not surprising when SuJu became the pioneer in splitting up into sub-units, each singing a different musical genre. Not only that, a band with four members singing is doable, a band with six members is a big feat. And with 13 members is disastrous! But Super Junior is able to cooperate together despite the large number of members, this is quite admiring.
Moreover, SuJu’s songs all have the ‘kilig’ element, making them appealing to young girls. Kilig: is a Filipino term which refers to a feeling of excitement when people are in-love or feel love**. To understand in simple terms, the boys’ songs give off different feelings, warm feelings. It’s like they are performing for you and you can see they put their hearts into it.
And the peak of Super Show
Super Show was first held on 2008.02.22 in Seoul. From then on, once every year, Super Show is held in many different countries in Asia, increasingly expanding into wider routes as well as quality. Super Show 3 kicked off on 14-15 August 2010 in Seoul, then to China, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the upcoming Bình Dương – Vietnam (May 7).
According to the organizer Viet Vision Company this Super Show 3 is going to be the program of the largest scale ever in Vietnam with almost all the stage, sound, light and technical equipment all brought from Korea and Malaysia, along with great ideas in the organization, the precise attention to every detail in the making of the stage and the artistic skills than ever of the Korean experts. Only a fan of Super Junior who regularly watches these boys in many entertainment shows will be able to see all the creative talents as well as the cute individual talents of Super Junior. Therefore the audience is not merely about to enjoy a great music show elaborately staged, new, unique but also relieve stress with dozens of funny moments, and performances with high interaction between artists and fans.
So in an overview, in the music sense, the audience can dance enthusiastically to the great dance songs like Sorry, Sorry, Bonamana, etc, immerse in the melodies of the ballads such as It has to be you, New endless love, One fine spring day, etc. As the audience of Super Show 3, you are also able to witness a SuJu super mischievous, super cute disguising as vegetables in Cooking cooking, a SuJu super charming and also super eccentric in cover songs Poker face, Single ladies. Adorning to that there definitely will be the hilarious display Teukigayo-style in Strong Heart of the trio Lee Teuk, Eun Hyuk and Shin Dong.
And specially, Super Junior will present to Vietnamese and international audience many special acts the group had prepared solely for Super Show 3 in Vietnam.
Lee So Man – SM Entertainment president is a person who looks far ahead, if (he) hasn’t foreseen the feasibility of market he wouldn’t have so easily let the “precious chick”*** hold the show. At Super Show 1, right from the first show in Korea, over 120,000 fans rushing to buy tickets had crashed the online ticket seller and within 18 minutes after, 13,000 tickets were sold out. This rapid “evaporation” had made SM Entertainment left with no choice but to hold 2 more shows to meet the fans’ demand. The impact is not only great in Korea but also in the later shows held at Thailand and China; all tickets were sold out at a fast rate.
With the success of Super Show 1, the group’s 2nd tour expanded into the whole Asia with 15 cities of 7 different countries. The tour with the purpose of promoting for their 3rd album “Sorry, Sorry” had attracted nearly 198,000 fans**** and all tickets were sold out within 10 minutes. Close to 40 items were performed under the elaborately staged, as well as sophistication in every detail.
The year 2010, after ‘storming’ all over the charts with the 4th album “Bonamana”, the “hurricane” with the name Super Junior continued to affirm their position by consecutively setting records with the 3rd Asian Tour – Super Show 3 with 20 shows at 9 countries.
In Korea and Japan, tickets were sold out in less than 5 minutes. Specially, this was the first time Super Show was held in Japan but had attracted almost 36,000 fans for every show.
Super Junior’s SS3 Concert had received many positive reactions, tickets sold out as fast as the speed of light. Many of the fans fought over, even queuing over night to get hold of a SS3 ticket. In Taiwan, according to a representative of an online ticket website, the ticket-selling rate of this website on average is about 2 minutes per fan. He also mentioned that with other Taiwanese artists like Jay Chou had also never been faced with this kind of situation. This shows the tremendous popularity of Super Junior.
Specially in Taiwan, Super Show 3 grossed over $2.8 million in profit, exceeding what the SM Town ’10 World Tour obtained in the U.S., becoming the first international artist in Taiwan to have the record of 3 shows’ tickets sold out. 6000 tickets were sold out in just a few seconds.
In addition, Super Junior’s “Super Show 3 3D” set a record with 11,940 viewers coming to watch only after 4 days. Before this, many other artists had also released a 3D version of their concert, but none has come close to the success Super Junior holds as of now.

Notes:
* It sounds a bit negative but that is the literal translation, and Vietnamese news often speak like that so E.L.Fs don’t take it to heart.
** The exact words were a bit different but I know they were meant to be from one the girls’ interviewed in ^ above article so I ‘borrowed’ the translation from there.
*** sounds weird I know but I can’t find any better term
**** I think this means the total of fans that attend the entire tour, not just one show.

“Overwhelmed” by the super image of Super Show 3 rehearsal
Indeed, there has never before been a stage so unbelievable in Vietnam
Yesterday (06/05), the youths of Saigon* were in excitement from 11AM all the way until late at night, roaming from Tân Sơn Nhất airport(to) Super Junior’s hotel (to) Gò Đậu Stadium (in Bình Dương) only in order to see their idols with their own eyes.
(Super Junior) arrived in Vietnam in two groups, the first, consisting of the four men Lee Teuk, Hee Chul, Ye Sung, (and) Shin Dong, arrived at Tân Sơn Nhất airport at 2:40PM. These four men had secretly left the airport through the VIP area, then traveled to the InterContinetnal hotel to rest. The second group, including Si Won, Eun Hyuk, Kyu Hyun, Henry Lau, Zhoumi, Dong Hae, Ryeo Wook, (and) Sung Min, landed at 4:20PM, (and) headed straight to Gò Đậu Stadium – Bình Dương. The full “gathering” of Super Junior for rehearsal will take place tonight (07/05).
Seeming to have learned from (last time’s) greeting event of Super Junior (when they) came to Hà Nội in March 2010, the ELF of SuJu’s fanclub had been very agreeable and cooperative with the organizers. Chanting Super Junior’s name, always lining up properly, and preserving the safety of their idols, (they) had shown to other international fans the true nature of Viet fans.
With an intricately-organized program, leaving no mistakes, Super Junior members seemed to have gotten the best treatment possible. (With) the plan to open the road** in order to keep pace with the schedule, the surrounding (area) is enclosed with tight security, (and Super Junior’s) area is considered a “restricted” zone.
After many tries, we had been able to be admitted into (Super Junior’s) rehearsal. Even though the stage was not 100% completed and the members were fairly tired, everyone still put in great effort so that the rehearsal could be conducted smoothly, and the amazing stage could not be described by words. In order to preserve the surprise and excitement, security was placed everywhere and, for the most part, there was not a single crack left open for any observation of this popular idol group.
Before rehearsing, the members quickly warmed up with a game of soccer in the stadium. After that, all the hits were revealed on stage along with backup dancers and intricate props. Indeed, it will be no surprise that the fans will be completely satisfied by the concert.
After the rehearsal had ended, the members and all the staff quickly went back to the hotel to rest. Only Hee Chul (and) Shin Dong seemed to go “sneakily***” explore Vietnam.
Furthermore, Vietnamese fans are currently “exalted” because they had read Dong Hae’s tweet before he went to the airport, not only that, but this adorable boy also took a picture… of his plane ticket.
Also, the Chinese boy Henry Lau observed: “So many fruits here in Vietnam! Wow so FRESH! YES YES! Thanks 2 all the fans who came out to welcome us! Cya tomorrow! U guys are awesome.”
*Another name for Ho Chi Minh City, where SS3 Vietnam is being held at.
**Not entirely sure, but I guess to clear the roads so that there’s not traffic jams?
***Not in a bad way. x) Probably just means they don’t want to be recognized.
