On the January 14th episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Birth Of A Family‘, the mothers of L and Dongwoo paid a visit to INFINITE‘s dormitory.
L and Dongwoo‘s mother visited the dorm to cook traditional ‘Tteokguk / rice cake soup’ for the boys in celebration of Korean New Year’s. Dongwoo who is the ‘maknae’ of his family showed his mom some ‘aegyo‘ by giving her kisses on the cheek as soon as he laid eyes on her, while L who is the eldest in the family remained quiet and reserved.
While L’s mother brought a letter which made L cry, Dongwoo’s mother brought a nude baby photo of Dongwoo which embarrassed Dongwoo and brough a smile to the faces of his fellow INFINITE members.

8 January:
On the January 7th broadcast of KBS‘s ‘Birth of a Family‘, Sunggyu was abandoned by the rest of the members to watch over their three dogs.
The members left without Sunggyu to watch a movie and enjoy a break from their schedules. The leader tried to call the members, but it was to no avail, as they had turned off their phones on purpose.
When Sungjong finally called him, Sunggyu barked ,”Hey, you traitors!” Laughing, Sungjong asked, “Hyung, are you holding up okay?“, to which Sunggyu replied, “Hurry up and come [home]!”
Maknae Sungjong only made Sunggyu even angrier as he relayed Woohyun‘s message to Sunggyu,“Don’t make me laugh.” He also rubbed it in further by asking Sunggyu, “Did you finish doing everything you’re supposed to?… Call us when you’re done.” Sunggyu’s voice started getting low as he threatened,“Are you playing with me right now?” To which the other members laughed as they answered, “Yes, we are.”
The phone call ended and once again, Sunggyu was left alone completing chores by himself as he struggled to feed, wash, and walk the three dogs.

The girls took him to the animal hospital after noticing that something was wrong with his legs. They explained to the vet that Quick wasn’t able to jump onto the sofa as usual, which made the vet examine Quick’s knees. He discovered dislocated knee caps on its hind legs and explained that Quick required a procedure to shave the bone, which could be painful.
Upon hearing the diagnosis, the girls shed a few tears and with a heavy heart, sent Quick in to surgery room. They waited outside nervously, and after three hours, A Pink were let back in.
Leader Cho Rong could not hold back her tears after seeing Quick lying on the table, who was whimpering as the anaesthetics wore off.
The girls were able to bring Quick back home soon afterwards.
24 December:
On the December 24th episode, the show’s MCs Lee Hwi Jae, Kim Byung Man, and No Woo Jinvisited an abandoned animal shelter to volunteer and help out for the show’s Christmas special. After meeting up and talking with the generous hearts that run the place, the topic steered towards the difficulties of running a shelter of this size.
As the shelter houses 350 dogs and 60 cats, the owner chose food supply as the most difficult aspect to keep up with, stating, “I need about two tons of animal food to feed all of them per month, but since last month, Lee Hyori-ssi has been donating one ton a month.”
He continued, “She also doing a great job of raising ‘Soonshim’, the abandoned dog she adopted from this shelter.”
18 December:
On December 17th’s episode of KBS‘s ‘Birth of a Family‘, the members busily prepared various presents in the form of food and clothing for the three dogs. L, Dongwoo, and Hoya decided to personally create dog tags for them and participated in the entire design process.
Woohyun and Sunggyu opted to create edible cakes, while Sungyeol and Sungjong made puppy outfits. In their meeting, the two were caught saying, “Let’s make outfits as luxurious and as beautiful as those designed by Andre Kim.” Unfortunately, their inexperience showed, as the resulting outfits failed to live up to their expectations.
The two later said, “We decided to just order clothes from a dog clothing shop that Lee Hwi Jae hyung recommended. It’s disappointing that we weren’t able to perfect our outfits.”
INFINITE was finally able to open their 100th day party with the dogs dressed in traditional Koreanhanbok and a feast awaiting them.
17 December:
Singer Lee Hyori greeted viewers on an entertainment program for the first time in quite a while.
Hyori made a special guest appearance on the December 17th airing of KBS 2TV ‘Birth of a Family‘. This marked her first entertainment program appearance after serving as an MC on ‘College Song Festival‘ last November.
The singer who actively supports the rights of animals met with the girls of A Pink who are serving as temporary guardians of abandoned animals on ‘Birth of a Family’.
A Pink met Hyori and her dog, Soonshim, at an event to raise funds for animal shelters. Hyori was happy to see ‘Dali‘, one of the dogs under A-Pink’s care, and remarked that she had met Dali before during a photoshoot to offer aid and support for abandoned dogs.
The girls received some good advice from Hyori who is a knowledgeable veteran when it comes to the well-being of animals.
The A-Pink members were reportedly moved at how Hyori informatively advised them on what to look out for and what the most difficult part of taking care of animals, and how to heal their scarred hearts.
The girls also cautiously asked Hyori if she had ever seen their performance. To their surprise, Hyori went above and beyond their expectations by emulating the butterfly hand motion in their choreography for “I Don’t Know“.
20 November:
On a recent broadcast of ‘A Birth of a Family’, groups A Pink and Infinite collaborated for the show.
What was interesting about this episode was the fact that A Pink members were surprised in the morning without their usual stage makeup. When the camera crew showed up at their house in the morning the girls were sound asleep, unaware of what was to happen. After making their impromptu arrival, MC Shin Bong Sun introduced each member saying, “They’re at the age in which their bare faces are still cute.”
Members of Infinite, on the other hand, had just finished an early schedule and were returning home. Fans were disappointed to not see their bare faces, but still cheered them on.
On this episode, both Infinite and A Pink received homeless puppies to care for and love.

2 November:
Although it was announced earlier that the show would be titled, ‘My Pet’, the name has since been changed to ‘Birth of a Family’.
The new show will document various idol groups taking care of abandoned animals for 8 weeks or so – until the animal is adopted by a new family. In addition, the show will also feature rare animals that are not commonly seen in the company of people. The show hopes to raise awareness about issues involving animal neglect. It hopes that by bringing in celebrities on the show to care after these animals, they may help increase awareness and capture the hearts of citizens. As the celebrities laugh and cry raising these animals, the show hopes to inspire citizens to take a deeper interest in abandoned and homeless animals.
MBLAQ and APink were announced as the first idol groups up to take part in the upcoming show. However, due to scheduling issues, MBLAQ has now been replaced by INFINITE.
INFINITE and APink will become the first idol groups to participate in the show emceed by Boom, Lee Hui Jae, and Kim Byung Man. The first day of filming will start on November 1st, and the first episode will air on November 12th.
