There are only two days left until the online votes for the Popularity Award of the ‘26th Golden Disk Awards‘ closes, and the results are slowly starting to take shape.
Voting opened up on November 28th, and since then, over 2 million netizens have participated. Right from the start, Super Junior led the poll at the top, and has never once let go of their position since then. SNSD is right behind them but the chance of a reversal with two days left is highly unlikely.
Currently, Super Junior is leading with 47% with 800,000 votes, while SNSD is at 43% with 740,000 votes. Following behind are f(x), F.T. Island, CNBLUE, B2ST, INFINITE, KARA, and MBLAQ.
In the votes for the Japanese site, ‘Golden Disk Japan‘, Jay Park is at the lead, with Super Junior at a close second. Girl groups like SNSD, f(x), and 2NE1 are also showing fierce competition, as well as Supernova, who have been earning widespread attention in Japan.
On the voting homepage set up for worldwide/international netizens, Super Junior and Jay Park are neck to neck, both standing at an impressive 1.5 million votes. Their ranking changes by the hour while SNSD is right behind them, followed by B2ST, INFINITE, 2NE1, and KARA.
A representative of the awards show stated, “There have been more visitors to the site with two days left until the polls close now. The votes for the international and Korean polls are so close, we’re going to have to monitor them to the very last second.”
As the Popularity Award relies entirely on fan power, the votes are ones fans won’t want to miss out on. Polls will close at 12 a.m. on December 26th, and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Kyocera Dome in Japan on January 11th and 12th, 2012.
